In this study, noise sources of a reducer which is combined a spiral bevel gear and a planocentric gear are identified by experimental method and the noise was reduced by the structure modification of the reducer. In order to identify the noise sources, noise and vibration signals were measured by microphone and accelerometer and these signals were analyzed with waterfall plot. In addition, the frequency response functions were obtained to prove the noise and vibration sources. It was found that the resonance was generated by the gear mesh frequencies and natural frequency of the reducer. The noise of the reducer could be reduced by structure modification.

In this paper, we investigate the vibration source of sheet feeding apparatus installed in scanner cover of the digital MFP through frequency analysis. Gearmesh frequency and motor generated frequency were calculated to analyse autospectrum. During driving state, we measure the vibration level. It was found from the signal analysis that gearmesh frequency and motor generated frequency are identified as vibration source.

Indoor noise is very important related to the morale and fighting power of the crew as well as environmental condition for them in a navel vessel. Especially, the crew members working in CIC(Combat Information Center) and sonar equipment room require much more quiet environment condition in order to increase the performance of their combat system. One of the most serious noise source in CIC is the cooling fan noise installed in the console of the combat system. Therefore, in this paper, the design of the plenum chamber is studied to reduce the noise of the fan from these consoles by numerical analysis.

In this work, an active hybrid mount using piezostack actuator and rubber element is manufactured, and its vibration control performance is evaluated via feedforward control. A hybrid active mount featuring inertia type of piezostack actuator is proposed and manufactured. After describing the configuration of the hybrid mount, a mount system is then constructed. To attenuate vibrations from vibration sources, a feedforward controller is experimentally implemented to the system. Vibration control performances are evaluated at each mount. Effective Control performances such as accelerations are obtained and presented in frequency domains.

The ship working environment of combat service support boat is very inferior to the ground working environment. For this reason, the crew of a combat service support boat suffer from an occupational disease such as hardness of hearing. Owing to its small size and low status, the improvement of its working and residential environment is occasionally ignored and its indoor noise was not fully investigated. In this study, for improving its residential environment indoor, the indoor noise of its shipboard compartments was analysed.

The size of TV and TFT-LCD are bigger and bigger for the next generation exposure equipment install that existing fab are getting a lot of additions. When the new fab build an extension that the shortening of the construction and non-vibration are use cast in place concrete pile method. In this study when lay the foundation of existing fab adjoin use vibration monitoring system are rotator type all casing method among cast in place concrete pile method. The evaluation of ground vibration of rotator type all casing method effect to precision equipment and vibration area of influence.

Catwalk structures are temporary walk ways for erection of main cables in suspension bridge. The aerodynamic characteristics of the catwalk structures are not well studied even though the catwalk structures are sensitive to wind action because of its flexibility. Present study demonstrates technical results obtained from wind tunnel tests of various catwalk structures. To obtain the aerostatic force coefficients of the floor system of catwalk, 1/14 and 1/4 scaled partial rigid models were fabricated and tested at the wind tunnel. In order to investigate the Reynolds number effects, the aerostatic force coefficients were measured at various wind velocities ranged from 5m/s to 30m/s. The test results revealed that the Reynolds number effects on aerostatic coefficients were not significant for the catwalk floor systems. An empirical equation for aerostatic force coefficients of catwalk are proposed based on the measured results.

Many kinds of dynamic absorbers have been used to reduce the vibration of machineries and structures. In the typical ones, however low damping capacity, durability and limited install condition restrict their application. In this study, high damped dynamic absorber was proposed for diesel generator set. Developed absorber is composed with mass and coil springs. Silicone oil was filled inside the narrow gap between mass and casing. Viscous damping of silicon oil act as additional damping so that proposed dynamic absorber is suitable for D/G set which have adjacent resonance frequency to operation speed. The performance of the dynamic absorber was confirmed through the actual test on diesel engine generator set.

Recently eco friendly energy is the most interested field and has been research actively. MCFC is a representative technology of eco friendly energy. Eco friendly energy shouldn't cause environmental problems like noise and vibration because that is the technology to solve environmental problems. The major noise and vibration source of MCFC is blowers. this project designed sound enclosure and isolator as the best way for blowers.

In a power plant, an oil and steam leakage is generated once in a while. This is because the operating temperature and pressure of oil are very high. It is very difficult to monitor oil leakage, because oil leakage is almost invisible. Therefore a method to oil leakage detecting quickly and accurately is needs. In this paper, we proposed the method for the detecting oil leakage by using image processing and CCTV. To test the performance of this technique, experiments have been performed for simple case. Results show that the proposed technique is quite powerful in the oil leak detection.

Recent years have witnessed speed up of moving vehicles such as high-speed of trains. Increase in speed entails concomitant increase in turbulent air flow which contributes toward aerodynamic noise. The proposed method for aerodynamic noise reduction is based on a biomimetic design of owl feather. The five morphological parameters of the owl feather is extracted from close observation, and simulation cases are constructed by applying design of experiments methodology. Swirling strength for each case is obtained through steady-state CFD analysis, and key morphological parameters that affect the turbulence are identified. Large eddy simulations (LES) are then performed on selected cases to predict the air turbulence. Different cases show varying vorticity distribution levels which is expected to lead to varying aerodynamic noise levels.

A large number of seismic isolation systems have been developed since the early 1970s. They are basically a combination of elastomeric bearing and energy dissipators. The investigation described in this paper analyzes shear property and the frequency dependence of Lead Rubber Damper(LRD). Lead Rubber Damper is similar in shape and performance property to Lead Rubber Bearing. Experimental condition ranges from 20 to 200% in share strain and from 0.1 to 1.0Hz in frequency. When the shear strain is increased, effective stiffness and damping ratio are decreased. When the frequency is increased, change of the behavior characteristic is subtle.

The purposes of the research were to evaluate system performance and response of building structure under external load for full scale modal-testing-tower applied toggle bracing and lead rubber damper(LRD). The dynamic properties of the structure were measured before and after installing damper under harmonic excitation using the AMD and the results were compared. The harmonic excitation condition is to increase 0.01Hz sine sweep signal from 0.49Hz to 0.63Hz. As a result of measuring resonant frequency, before installing damper is 0.55Hz and after installing damper is 0.62Hz. The experimental results after installing damper were also distinguished from simulation results and the main cause of this results is temperature dependency property of rubber material.

As the number of the apartments is increasing, many environmental problems are also occurred. There are lots of studies on that problems. Especially, a lot of studies about environmental noises are going along continuously. And they found out advanced results. In this study, we investigated the residents' subjective responses about environmental noises by survey, and verified the trend of the environmental noise conditions in apartment house. The results of this study will be useful to provide guideline to make policy of environmental noise and criteria.

In this paper, a control algorithm for the improvement of yaw and velocity stability of electrical vehicle with two or four in-wheel motors is proposed. The vehicle is modeled with independently operative in-wheel motor wheels. Different frictions on the wheels are regarded as disturbances, which causes driving instability. In this situation the proposed algorithm enables stabilizing the yaw motion and velocity of vehicle simultaneously. The proposed PID controller is composed with two techniques, which enhance the disturbance reject and point tracking performances. One is nonlinear gain function and the other one is improved integral controller operating as time based weight function. Simulation is conducted to reveal its efficient performance.

A scheduling technique for the improvement of yaw motion stability in in-wheel motor vehicle is proposed. Normally vehicle velocity is controlled via conventional PID method. When vehicle is encountered with different road conditions on left and right hand sides, unstable yaw motion is induced due to the driving force difference in both wheels. In this paper a scheduling formular for control gain is derived in terms of experimental results to generate proper counter control action. Simulation result reveals its effective performance in yaw control of in-wheel vehicle.

Seated human subjects have been exposed to vertical vibration so as to investigate six-axis biodynamic response. Sixteen males were exposed to random vertical vibration in the frequency range(3~40Hz) at one vibration magnitude(0.224m/
$s^2$ r.m.s.). Forces were measured in the vertical, fore-and-aft, lateral, roll, pitch and yaw direction on the seat. The median of cross-axis apparent mass magnitude in the fore-and-aft direction could reach up to 20% of the apparent mass magnitude at resonance frequency. And the median of apparent eccentric mass magnitude in the roll direction could reach up to 15% of the apparent eccentric mass magnitude in the pitch direction at resonance frequency. But cross-axis apparent mass in the lateral direction and apparent eccentric mass in the yaw direction showed very small. -
In this paper, in order to improve safety of hybrid electric vehicle a fault detection algorithm is introduced. The proposed algorithm uses SVDD techniques. Two methods for learning a lot of data are used in this technique. One method is to learn the data incrementally. Another method is to remove the data that does not affect the next learning. Using lines connecting support vectors selection of removing data is made. Using this method, lot of computation time and storage can be saved while learning many data. A battery data of commercial hybrid electrical vehicle is used in this study. In the study fault boundary via SVDD is described and relevant algorithm for virtual fault data is verified. It takes some time to generate fault boundary, nevertheless once the boundary is given, fault diagnosis can be conducted in real time basis.

There is a merit a planetary gear set disperses a delivery load, and to decrease loss of friction and noise. But, in addition to meshing this internal and external gear simultaneously and phase difference by the tooth contact point and the time difference occurs asymmetric and symmetric sideband noise and vibration caused by the modulation in the vehicle. Existing planetary gear set research have progressed to reduce the cause of the sideband as run-out, pitch error and imbalance. In this paper presents a method for the design of the carrier phase difference by developing various theorys and experiments for gear noise.

This study compared Kd, loss factor and thickness of floor impact isolator by loading/unloading heat treatment with results by continuous loading treatment and checked problem and improvement method of heat treatment condition for the long-term stability evaluation of the floor impact isolation. As the results, it is required the change of heat treatment condition unloading now to loading as actual weigh on the floor impact isolator.

The power input to an infinite cylindrical shell excited by a point force is investigated. The circumferential direction and axial direction of the cylindrical shell is assumed as a two-dimensional unbounded medium, and the point force is replaced as a periodic array of imaginary sources. The spatial Fourier transform is taken from the equation of motion of the cylindrical shell, which is derived from the static model of Donell-Mushtari-Vlasov. The inverse Fourier transform is taken to derive the vibration responses. Mobility from out-of-plane forces and in-plane forces are derived from the obtained vibration responses. The theory is applied to a cylindrical shell excited by a normal direction of point force.

This paper reports a filtered velocity feedback (FVF) controller, which is an alternative to direct velocity feedback (DVFB) controller. The instability problems due to high frequency response under DVFB can be alleviated by the suggested FVF controller. The FVF controller is designed to filter out the unstable high frequency response. The FVF controller and the dynamics of clamped beams under forces and moments are first formulated The effects of the design parameters (cut-off frequency, gain, and damping ratio) on the stability and the performance are then investigated. The cut-off frequency should be selected not to affect the system stability. The magnitude of the open loop transfer function (OLTF) at the cut-off frequency should be small. As increasing the gain of the FVF controller, the magnitude of the OLTF is increased, so that the closed loop response can be reduced more. The enhancement of the OLTF at the cut-off frequency is reduced but the phase behavior around the cut-off frequency is distorted, as the damping ratio is increased The control performance is finally estimated for the clamped beam. More than 10dB reductions in velocity response can be achieved at the modal frequencies from the first to eighth modes.

This work presents an active vibration control of a stiffened hull structure using a flexible macro fiber composite (MFC) actuator. As first step, the governing equation of the hull structure is derived in a matrix form and its dynamic characteristics such as natural frequency are obtained via a finite element analysis (FEA). The natural frequencies obtained from the FEA are compared with those determined from experimental measurement. After formulating the control model in a state space representation, an optimal controller is designed in order to attenuate the vibration of the stiffened hull structure. The controller is then empirically realized through dSPACE and control responses are evaluated in time domain.

For developing acoustic window, transmission loss in accordance with incident angle was calculated and compared with measurement results. In design stage, the material choice of acoustic window is very important because the material is parameter of transmission loss and structural strength. In order to analyze the effect of material properties on transmission loss, the parametric studies were carried out and the results were discussed in this paper.

In this study, transonic aeroelastic response analyses have been conducted for the business jet aircraft configuration considering shockwave and flow separation effects. The developed fluid-structure coupled analysis system is applied for aeroelastic computations combining computational structural dynamics(CSD), finite element method(FEM) and computational fluid dynamics(CFD) in the time domain. It can give very accurate and useful engineering data on the structural dynamic design of advanced flight vehicles. For the nonlinear unsteady aerodynamics in high transonic flow region, Navier-Stokes equations using the structured grid system have been applied to wing-body configurations. In transonic flight region, the characteristics of static and dynamic aeroelastic responses have been investigated for a typical wing-body configuration model. Also, it is typically shown that the current computation approach can yield realistic and practical results for aircraft design and test engineers.

In the past much effort has been made to utilize advanced computational fluid dynamic (CFD) programs for aeroelastic simulations and analysis. However, it is limited in the field of unsteady aeroelasticity due to enormous size of computer memory and unreasonably long CPU time. Recently, AAEMS(Aerodynamics is Aeroelasticity minus Structure) was developed for linear time-invariant, coupled fluid-structure systems. In this paper, to demonstrate further the efficiency and accuracy of the new model reduction method, we successfully examine AGARD 445.6 wing modeled by FLUENT CFD, FSIPRO3D and NASTRAN FEM(Finite Element Method) programs. Using the ROM(Reduced Order Modeling) one can predict flutter boundary as a function of the dynamic pressure.

Automobiles should be light and practical to reduce the price of manufacturing and maintaining expense. Hatchback vehicles are far from the silence for its practicality. This paper introduced the effective method of the planning of the asphalt material which applies the asphalt damping material. This paper showed the experiment which restrains the vibration of the vehicle trunk using asphalt damping material and chose the position of damping material using the velocity map and strain energy map and planed the optimum position.

Some materials show the character of rigid body in low frequency spectrum. The rigid body motions are consisted of translational and rotational motions. Especially, we can get the acceleration or displacement of a random point in the rigid body by analyzing rigid body transfer matrix at the car's engine and power train. Actually it is difficult to measure the acceleration by attaching the sensor inside of the engine and power train. So the hard to predict acceleration data can be achieved attaching the sensor on the outside of the engine and power train by analyzing the data of rigid body motion which the engine is operated using dynamo. Also this paper will show the change of predicted data and accuracy variation by not using all the measured data but a few exceptions of the point number.

In these days, the passenger vehicles usually have equipped various comfort & security systems to appeal to customers. And then, the importance of emotional quality gives added weight to the noise performance of those system devices. Door inside handle system is one of the most popular devices for passenger. This paper shows developing process about the operating sound of door inside handle. We used DFSS process to develop the door inside handle snap back sound and confirmed the improvement.

In this paper, This work demonstrates a experimental evaluation for vehicle road noise NVH performance from the component-level NVH measurements of Tire. The power unit noise from tire emitted by cars has been reduced. It has been found that tire noise dominates noise produced by the power train when vehicles are driven at high constant speed. Therefore tire pattern noise is affected by pattern and vehicle and transmission loss. Tire noise mechanism is generated by several mechanisms. The sound of tire can propagate either through the air or through the structure of vehicle. Pattern noise is the result of pressure variations through the air to the interior side of vehicle. Especially, smooth asphalt, the periodicity of tread design, groove depth is important factor, which have an influence on the reduction of tire pattern noise.

Structure-bone noise is an important aspect to consider during the design and development of a vehicle. Reduction of structure-bone noise of the compartment in a vehicle is an important task in automotive engineering. Many methods which analyze transfer path of noise have been used for structure-bone noise. The existing method to measure of frequency response function of transfer path has been tested by removing a source. This Paper presents an experimental analysis about Transfer Path Analysis of the vehicle interior noise according to Excitation or not. To identify these points of difference, experiment were conducted through an experimental test using simulation vehicle.

Existing FPS(Friction Pendulum System) is isolation system which is possible to isolate structures by pendulum characteristic from ground vibration. Structural natural frequency could be decided by designing the radius of curvature of FPS. Thus, response vibration could be reduced by changing natural frequency of structures from FPS. But effective periods of recorded seismic wave were various and estimation of earthquake characteristic could be difficult. If effective periods of seismic wave correspond to natural frequency of structures with FPS, resonance can be occurred. Therefore, CFPBS(Cone-type Friction Pendulum Bearing System) was developed for controlling the response acceleration and displacement by the slope of friction surfaces. Structural natural frequency with CFPBS can be changed according to position of ball on the friction surface which was designed cone-type. Therefore, Divergence of response could be controlled by CFPBS which had constantly changing natural frequency with low modal participation factor in wide-range. In this study, Seismic performance of CFPBS was evaluated by numerical analysis and shaking table test.

The abnormal vibration from the BTV(Brake Torque Variation) and DTV(Disc Thickness Variation) is transferred to the suspension and steering system during braking. In this paper, judder simulation is carried out using multi-body dynamic analysis program to analyze the relation of the judder and transfer mechanism which is composed of the suspension and steering system. In order to analyze the brake judder transfer system, the full vehicle model was composed with rigid body, non-linear bushing, non-linear constraints and joints. Full vehicle model analysis was compared by actual vehicle judder test and sensitivity analysis of the suspension system is carried out.

The drivers of commercial vehicle easily feel tired because of a long time driving and bad road condition. Therefore it is very important to make the driver seat comfortable. This paper introduces the suspension system of driver's seat using magnetic force. The combination of linear spring and magnetic force can make nonlinear spring which has optimal stiffness for minimal vibration transmissibility. The vibrations of driver's seat floor are measured in various road condition. And the numerical simulations and experiments are performed to define the optimal parameter of magnetic suspension system.

In tilting pad bearing design process, the selection of the proper configuration type of either a Load-Between-Pad (LBP) or Load-On-Pad (LOP) as well as preload and pivot offset conditions is to be carefully considered. Also the bearing needs to be designed in order to be suited for the rotor-bearing system and operating condition. In this paper, it is observed that the dynamic characteristics in a 5 pad tilting pad bearing for the LBP and the LOP configurations are influenced by the variation of preload and pivot offset. In this context, rotor dynamic analysis of the 5MW industrial gas turbine supported by the tilting pad bearing at the front and roller bearing at the rear is carried out based on the dynamic coefficients of the tilting pad bearing investigated. The result shows that two rigid body critical modes experience various changes according to the influence of the tilting pad bearing uniquely applied to one side of this machine. Mainly, the second critical speed, the rigid body mode of conical shape with high whirling in the tilting pad bearing, is significantly changed by preload and pivot offset regardless of the LBP and LOP configurations. And, the first critical mode, the rigid body mode of conical shape with high whirling in the roller bearing, is sensitively affected by preload applied to the LOP configuration and by the its asymmetric dynamic properties.

Doosan has been developing a 5MW class gas turbine engine, DGT-5. Campbell diagram has been used for prediction of possible occurrence of resonances of rotating machinery. The Campbell diagram consists of blade natural frequency and excitation frequency. In this paper, modal characteristics of compressor and turbine blades are investigated and Campbell diagram is obtained. We calculated compressor and turbine blade's natural frequency using ANSYS tool. The result has been verified through test.

This paper discusses a model order reduction for large order rotor dynamics systems results from the finite element discretization. Typical rotor systems consist of a rotor, built-on parts, and a support system, and require prudent consideration in their dynamic analysis models because they include unsymmetric stiffness, localized nonproportional damping and frequency dependent gyroscopic effects. When the finite element model has a very large number of degrees of freedom because of complex geometry, repeated dynamic analyses to investigate the critical speeds, stability, and unbalanced response are computationally very expensive to finish within a practical design cycle. In this paper, the Krylov-based model order reduction via moment matching significantly speeds up the dynamic analyses necessary to check eigenvalues and critical speeds of a Nelson-Vaugh rotor system. With this approach the dynamic simulation is efficiently repeated via a reduced system by changing a running rotational speed because it can be preserved as a parameter in the process of model reduction. The Campbell diagram by the reduced system shows very good agreement with that of the original system. A 3-D finite element model of the Nelson-Vaugh rotor system is taken as a numerical example to demonstrate the advantages of this model reduction for rotor dynamic simulation.

This paper predicted the dynamic behaviors of a cantilevered carbon nanotube(CNT) incorporating the electrostatic force, van der Waals interactions between the CNT and ground plane. The structural model of the CNT includes geometric and inertial nonlinearities for predicting various phenomena of nonlinear responses of the CNT due to the electrostatic force. In order to solve the problem, we used Galerkin's approximation and the numerical integration techniques and as a result, we predicted characteristics of nonlinear response of nano resonator. The cantilevered CNT shows complex dynamic responses and instabilities due to the applied ac and ac voltages, and driving frequencies. The results investigated in this paper are helpful to the modeling of nanotube based electromechanical devices such as nano-resonators and nano-sensors.

Air preheater uses the waste heat of the gas which burnt from the boiler from the thermal power plant. Air preheater it is established in the exit of the boiler follows in change of temperature combustion gas and the vibration which it follows in thermal expansion and contraction occurs. Air preheater with ruse the gas the seal the place where it includes a gap in the structure which it does, the vibration which it follows in change of temperature fluctuates the displacement of gap, fluctuation of the leakage quantity which occurs from gap there is a possibility of decreasing an effect to system. Part system it will be able to control the interval of gap in order, control mechanism about under establishing the place where it does the gap control actively, measures a gap the displacement sensor for is necessary. Like this displacement sensor the condition must do continuous running from atmosphere of high temperature was demanded all. This paper investigates the implementation instance of hazard existing which implement the high temperature displacement sensor, it analyzes, produces the result which it examines a model, it was a presentation. These results with the fact that it will contribute in the research for the implementation and a localization of the high temperature displacement sensor and advanced air preheater.

The prospect of Arctic trade transportation opening on a year-round basis creates a vast opportunity of exploring untapped resources and shortened navigational routes. However, the environment's remoteness and lack of technical experiences remains a big challenge for the maritime industry. With this, engine designers and makers are continually investigating, specifically optimizing propulsion shafting system design, to meet the environmental and technical challenges of the region. Further, classification societies recognize the need to upgrade the Unified Rules concerning elements to meet current Polar requirements. Hence in this paper, excitation torque calculation on Polar class vessels propulsion shafting system will be reviewed. The propeller - ice interaction load effect, which is a main consideration of excitation source of Polar Class propulsion shafting system, on shaft design calculation will be analyzed.

Underwater radiated noises from marine vehicles are mostly due to the propulsion systems. Recently, the propeller noise problems are becoming crucial issues in terms of habitability of passenger ships. Especially in military area, propeller noise is directly related to the survivability of submarines and warships, and thus propeller noise analysis and reductions are very important. Generally, propeller noise can be classified into non-cavitating noise and cavitating noise which is dominant. In this paper the methodology of propeller noise analysis is announced and new approach to consider scattering effect is proposed. Unsteady blade surface pressure and sheet cavity volume analyzed with potential based panel method are used as noise source.

In this paper, it was described the current technology status of bearingless rotor hub system for helicopter which is one of major rotor hub system. Also, a conceptual study on the new bearingless rotor hub system of helicopter was described. First, the advantages and disadvantages of major helicopter rotor hub system are described in comparison to each other types of rotor hub system. The unique characteristics of bearingless rotor hub system are described compared to other types of rotor hub systems. Next, the main function, role and characteristics of the sub-components of bearingless rotor hub system are described. Recent helicopters which adopt this bearingless rotor hub system are described and introduced. This conceptual study shows that double-H sectional construction and rectangular construction of flexbeam are the most effective candidates of this new bearingless rotor system. This bearingless rotor hub system can be used for 7,000lbs class helicopter. Now, a further trade-off study will show.

일반적으로 헬리콥터는 양력, 추력 그리고 힘을 발생시키기 위해 로터 시스템을 사용하기 때문에 공력환경이 매우 복잡하다. 블레이드 와류 간섭과 같은 비정상 공력 환경이 발생한다. 이러한 비정상 공력 환경은 진동하중과 높은 공력소음을 유발한다. 진동하중과 공력소음은 로터 블레이드 회전수에 N 배의 해당하는 주파수 (N/rev)를 갖는다. 하지만 스와시 판과 피치링크로 이루어진 전통적인 로터 조종계통은 블레이드가 1 회 회전하는 동안 한번의 조종 변위를 발생시킬 수 있기 때문에 그러한 진동하중을 조절하기에는 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 많은 능동 제어 기법들이 개발되었다. 능동 제어기법은 임의의 주파수로 블레이드의 피치 각을 조종할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 비정상 공력 하중을 변화시키기 위해 능동 제어기법 중 한 가지인 능동 뒷전 플랩 블레이드의 설계를 수행하였다. 능동 뒷전 플랩 블레이드는 에어포일의 캠버를 변화시키기 위해 작동기에 의해 구동되는 뒷전 플랩을 장착한다. 뒷전 플랩을 작동시키기 위해 블레이드 내부에 위치 압전 작동기를 사용하였다.

A study on environmental noise hasn't fully researched yet. As society has developed and the quality of life has improved, people started to show a concern about an environmental noise. To ensure a economic feasibility of countermeasures of noise, it is necessary to apply a cost-benefit analysis on choosing optimum measurements. In this study, we addressed the estimation method of the environmental noise value and several domestic and oversea case studies. We also estimate economic value of noise reduction level which is gained from applying noise reduction measurements.

Recently, the interest in technologies for a highly efficient powertrain, i.e. a variable displacement engine or a light weight car body, to improve the fuel efficiency of automobile saving the environment has been increased. However this trend deteriorates NVH performance of a vehicle and the use of a conventional engine mounting system becomes unsatisfactory. In order to solve this dilemma, an active engine mounting system that could isolate or cancel out vibrations occurred at the powertrain was suggested. In this paper, In order to optimize the electromagnetic active engine mount performance, the actuator of the engine mount through FEM analysis and optimal design, noise and elastomer testing of the prototype through the optimal design of actuators for the electromagnetic active engine mount on the impact of the performance improvement is verified.

As worldwide concern stands on global warming and greenhouse gases from internal combustion engine, the interests in technologies for a highly efficient powertrain has been increased. Concurrently the investigation to improve the deteriorated NVH, a by-product of energy efficient powertrain, is conducted seriously. The NVH performance of a new type of active engine mount that offers increased advantages over a passive hydraulic mount is examined using a newly developed 6-DOF simulator. The simulator is in the shape of Hexapod Stewart Platform adopting LEMA, a new type of actuator which is patented and commercialized by ACT Inc,, the world wide leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high performance linear electro-magnetic actuators for active vibration control. The target vibration signals of an aimed vehicle at four engine mounts are measured and simulated by 6-DOF simulator at the laboratory. The resulting NVH performances of the new active mounting system at a vehicle and on a simulator are examined and compared. Even though the active mount performance of lab test demonstrates less effective than the result of a real vehicle test, vibration reduction is identified through the simulator.

A dash panel component, close to passengers, plays a very important role to protect heat and noise from a power train. Meanwhile, it is also a main path that transfers vibration energy and eventually radiates acoustic noise into the cavity. Therefore, it seems important to provide an optimal design scheme incorporating sound packages such as dash isolation pad and carpet, as well as structures. The present study is the extension of the previous investigation how design variables affect sound radiation, which was carried out using the simple plate and framed system. The system taken into account in this paper is a dash panel component of a sedan, which includes A pillar, front side member, dash panel and the corresponding sound packages. Design variables such as panel thickness and sound package layers are investigated how they are related for the better radiation performance (i.e. structure-borne) and sound transmission loss (i.e. air borne).

In this paper, optimal spot weld layout design of the shock tower structure is performed for increasing fatigue life of spot weld and fatigue life of shock tower simultaneously. To predict the fatigue life, linear static analysis is conducted then fatigue analysis is performed by applying random vibration load. To optimize the spot weld layout, design variables that have an effect on spot weld fatigue life are selected. Based on the DOE table, spot weld fatigue analysis is conducted. Finally, response surface model is made from fatigue analysis results and optimized spot weld layout model which increases fatigue life of sport weld and fatigue life of shock tower is determined.

Simplified formulae for axial and bending natural frequencies of bellows are developed using an equivalent thin-walled pipe model. The axial and bending stiffness of bellows is determined using lumped transfer matrix method. Accordingly, the Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association (EJMA) formula for axial and bending stiffness calculation is modified using two different equivalent radii. The results from the simplified formulae are verified by those from a experiment result and a finite element (FE) model and good agreement is shown between the each other.

The acoustic emission (AE) technique is a well-known non-destructive test technique, both in research and for industrial applications. It is mainly used to monitor the onset of cracking processes in materials and components. Predicting and preventing the crack phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers and has continued to provide a large incentive for the use of condition monitoring techniques to detect the earliest stages of cracks. In this research, goal is in grasping features of AE signal caused by crack growth. The envelope analysis with discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used to find the characteristic of AE signal. To estimate feature of divided into three by crack length, the time waveform and the power spectrum were generated by the raw signals and the transferred signal processed by envelope analysis with DWT.

Acoustic Emission(AE) is widely used for early detection of faults for rotating machinery in these days because of its high sensitivity. AE signal has to need for transferring to low frequency range for the spectrum analysis included the fault mechanism. In transferring process, we lose a lot of fault information caused by unusable signal processing method. Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) is a method of signal processing for AE signatures, but the pattern of its mother function is not optimized with AE signals. So, we can lose the fault information when we want to use the DWT for AE signal. Therefore, in this paper, we will propose a novel pattern for DWT mother function, which is optimized with AE signals. And it will be applied to compare the results of DWT by daubechie and novel pattern.

The Main design parameters of ship HVAC systems are pressure drop and noise analysis of ducts. The Noise prediction for HVAC(Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) systems are normally performed by empirical method suggested by NEBB(National Environmental Balancing Bureau, 1994), but NEBB's method is not suitable for the ship HVAC systems. In this paper, numerical analysis methods are used to develop a noise prediction method for the ship HVAC systems, especially for large ducts. To develop regression formula of attenuation of sound pressure level in large duct, Boundary Element Method(BEM) is used. Using dynamic loss coefficient which is suggested by ASHRAE fitting data base and numerical methods of HVAC noise analysis, integrated HVAC noise analysis of Program is developed. The developed program can present pressure drop and noise analysis of the ship HVAC systems. To verify the accuracy and convenience of the developed program, prediction of HVAC system for Semi-Submersible Drilling RIG is carried out and the results are compared with measurement of noise level during sea trial.

본 연구에서는 선박용 디젤엔진의 저주파수 대역 소음저감을 위해, 엔진 점화주파수 성분을 제어하고자 연장관과 헬름홀쯔 공명기, 흡음재로 구성된 소음기를 제안하고, 성능테스트를 통해 저감성능을 확인하였다. 개발된 소음기의 성능 계측결과, 저주파수 대역에서 5dB 이상의 감음성능을 확인할 수 있었다.

So the specific vehicles in the Nordic countries which is a similar specification to domestic trains should be selected. Nord2000's accuracy was compared to Schall03, CRN's. This study was carried out vibration attenuation of vibration absorber attached to the cantilever beam structure. Modern tank guns are stabilized to allow fire on the move while traversing uneven terrain. However, as the length of the barrel is extended, to meet required muzzle exit velocities, the terrain induced vibrations lead to increased muzzle pointing errors. Thus, reducing these vibrations should lead to increased accuracy. The vibration absorber includes a compliant energy storage device, such as a spring, and a mass secured to the energy storage device. In this study, it accomplished a research in about gun barrel vibration attenuation using tuned mass damper. The barrel was hung from a bungee cord for free - free condition. It accomplished a vibration experiment for verified attenuation efficiency.

선박에 설치된 크레인은 일반적으로 기둥의 높이가 높고 상대적으로 가는 진동에 취약한 장비이다. 선박 크래인 운전중 비상사태가 발생하여 브레이크를 사용하면 갑작스러운 충격하중에 의해 크레인 포스트에 과도한 진동이 발생하기도 한다. 이러한 진동에 의한 크레인의 안전성을 평가하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 본 연구에서는 크레인의 비상정지시 발생하는 충격력을 추정하고 이러한 충격력을 이용하여 크레인에서의 응답과 스트레스에 의한 피로수명을 예측하였다.

The aluminum soundproofing panel used to the traffic noise reduction will judge with the material to improve because the CO2 emission is greater than other soundproofing panel such as plastic soundproofing panel. Also, if the air-passing soundproofing panel which can endure the fast wind velocity will be developed, it judged that it can reached to the target of low CO2 traffic technology development using the reduction of material cost and the lower consumption of steel. The objective of this study is to improve the soundproofing panel and to develop the air-passing soundproofing panel for the replacement of aluminum sound proofing panel which is more emit CO2 than other soundproofing panel. And, we tried to develop the reduction technology of CO2 emission through the development of air-passing soundproofing panel. At first, the flow and noise simulation were conducted for the purpose of the calculation of wind pressure on soundproofing wall and noise exposure level on receiver points according to the open ratio of air-passing soundproofing panel. And the 1st and 2nd mockup of air-passing soundproofing panel were made, and the design load test were conducted for these mockup.

The feed-water piping system constitutes a complex flow impedance network incorporating dynamic transfer characteristics which will amplify some pulsation frequencies. Understanding pressure pulsation waves for the feed-water recirculation piping system with cavitation problem of flow control valve is very important to prevent acoustic resonance. Feed water recirculation piping system is excited by potential sources of the shock pulse waves by cavitation of flow control valve. The pulsation becomes the source of structural vibration at the piping system. If it coincides with the natural frequency of the pipe system, excessive vibration results. High-level vibration due to the pressure pulsation affects the reliability of the plant piping system. This paper discusses the piping vibration due to the effect of shock pulsation by the cavitation of the flow control valves for the recirculation piping of feed-water pump system in combined cycle power plants.

In this study, the design and verification of 6kW class lift-type vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) has been conducted using advanced CAE technique based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element method (FEM), and computational structural dynamics (CSD). Designed aerodynamic performance of the VAWT model is tested using unsteady CFD method. Designed structural safety is also tested through the evaluation of maximum induced stress level and resonance characteristics using FEM and CSD methods. It is importantly shown that the effect of master eccentricity due to rotational inertia needs to be carefully considered to additionally investigate dynamic stress and deformation level of the designed VAWT system.

The Forced vibration characteristics of elastically restrained pipe conveying fluid with the attached mass are investigated in this paper. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the equation of motion is derived by using Hamilton's principle. The effect of attached mass and spring constant on forced vibration of pipe system is studied. Also, the critical flow velocities and stability maps of the valve-pipe system are obtained as each parameters.

Structural model of laminated composite plates based on the first order shear deformable plate theory and subjected to a combination of magnetic and thermal fields is developed. Coupled equations of motion are derived via Hamilton's principle on the basis of electromagnetic equations (Faraday, Ampere, Ohm, and Lorenz equations) and thermal equations which are involved in constitutive equations. In order to obtain the implications of a number of geometrical and physical features of the model, one special case is investigated, that is, free vibration of a composite plate immersed in a transversal magnetic field. Special coupling effects between the magnetic and elastic fields are revealed in this paper.

The outermost SG tubes have more structural problems than inside tubes. Many studies have used a uniform added mass coefficient for all of the SG tubes during the FIV analysis. The purpose of this study is to find out the added mass coefficients for each tube in a cylindrical shell. When a number of tubes are increased, added mass coefficients are also increased. And added mass coefficients at outermost tubes are less than those of inside tubes. According to gap changes between outermost tube and cylindrical shell, added mass coefficients are decreased with increasing the gap. When the gap has very large value, it shows that the added mass coefficient is asymptotically converged to the value of the tube array in a free fluid field.

This paper shows a whole noise quality checking system for the new developed 6th speed automatic transmission manufactured in USA. Due to demand for manufacturing of the high NVH quality transmissions in the mass product line, some special checking system called EOL is adapted. This EOL system is using vibration analysis technologies. Through adapting vibration analysis technologies and functions likewise RMS, Crest Factor, Harmonics, Peak, Band, and Order tracking, various noise problems caused by wear, nick, and deformations could be successfully detected and predicted. Therefore, automatic transmissions manufactured in the USA could get high NVH quality.

In the early phase of vehicle development, CAE is conducted as tool for vehicle performance assessment. To maintain acceptable road noise performance, solution for reduced vehicle sensitivity is required. Chassis interface dynamic stiffness characteristics are key component to isolating vibration and noise of road from the vehicle interior. This research provide how to set up the optimized dynamic characteristics under noise effect through DFSS study. CAE-based DOE is performed to build prediction math model, CMS process involves DOE to achieve very fast run times while giving results very comparable. Minimized
$95^{th}$ percentile of performance distribution is applied to minimize vehicle sensitivity and road noise levels variation during the optimization process. Finally, the results of optimization were reviewed for performance and robustness. -
Silicon oil in viscous fluid damper has a viscoelastic feature that show stiffness besides damping. These properties depend on frequency and are non-linear. A lot of research has been conducted in order to identify viscoelastic damper with mathematical model. Fractional Derivative Maxwell Model has been widely used, but this model did not explain the effect of damper size change on the damper performance. In this paper, the experimental study was conducted to validate damper's dynamic behaviors when total damper's size is changed while maintaining same aspect ratio and orifice size.

This paper presents vibration characteristics of magnetorheological (MR) elastomer, whose elastic modulus are controllable by an applied magnetic field. By using this property, the material can be applied to vibration absorber, so that the stiffness of the absorber can be changed and actively controlled according to the magnetic flux density. However, the various performances of MR elastomer depends on different magnetically polarization direction and dimension during the manufacturing process. In this paper, in order to obtain the optimal characteristics of MR elastomer, MR elastomers with different types and dimensions are prepared for a series tests. Using this test setup, extent of natural frequency shifted against magnetic field at various excitation frequencies can be measured. Specimens prepared with 3 types which are exposed to magnetic field vertically, horizontally and unexposed during cure. Also, a set of design variables are considered to produce MR elastomers. Through the modal tests of mass structure with MR elastomer, the optimal design as well as the polarization direction of MR elastomer is obtained among the various dimensions and 3 directional types of MR elastomers.

ISO6954:2000 (Mechanical vibration - Guidelines for the measurement, reporting and evaluation of vibration with regard to habitability on passenger and merchant ships) has taken effect as the governing body for vibration regarding habitability due to ship vibration. However, ISO6954:2000, when compared ISO6954:1984 (the first draft of ISO6954), needs to clear some deficiencies concerning convenience and reliability during field applications. In this paper, ISO6954:1984 and 2000 are evaluated on their suggested assessment method of ship's vibration in the future.

Free and forced vibration analysis of the global ship structure using the 3-dimensional finite element(FE) method requires not only the specialized knowledge such as ship structure interacted with fluid, damping and various excitations due to propulsion system but also time-consuming manual tasks in FE modeling, analysis and response evaluation. As a result, the quality of the vibration analysis highly depends on engineer's expertise and experience. In this study, a framework system to improve the efficiency of global ship vibration analysis is introduced. The system promising the utilization of MSC/Patran and MSC/Nastran consists of various modules to support data management, FE modeling of ship structure and loading, input deck generation for free and forced vibration analysis, data extraction and evaluation of analysis results, and databases for FE models of marine diesel engines and vibration criteria. The system may be useful for pursuing standardization of uncertain analysis factors as well as reducing time, cost and human dependency in ship vibration analysis.

In order to understand long range wave propagation in railway tracks, it is required to identify how far vibrations can travel along a rail. To answer this question, the attenuation characteristics of the main propagating waves are required as a function of distance. In this work, it is identified which wave types predominantly propagate on various regions of the rail cross-section. Then decay rates of propagating waves in railway tracks are investigated for frequencies up to 80 kHz. A numerical method called the Wavenumber Finite Element (WFE) method is utilized to predict dispersion curves and decay rates for a rail on a continuous foundation. In order to validate the simulated results, measurements have been performed on a test track and an operational railway track. The measured results are compared with the output of the simulations and good agreements are found between them.

There are hundreds of thousands call center workers wearing acoustic device. However, researches and noise exposure measurements on the noise transmitted from acoustic devices have seldom been performed due to the difficulty of measurement and to the absence of the measuring method in Korea. The aim of this study is to set up management measures to protect hearing loss on the call operator by acquiring measurement data of noise transmitted from the headset Noise exposure measurements of 17 operators were performed in 7 call centers and Head and Torso Simulator method in compliance with the ISO Standard 11904-2 was used for the measurement of noise transmitted from the headset Sound pressure levels(SPL) transmitted from the headset were 73.2~86 dB(A). The operator exposed to the highest SPL set up his volume control at 9 which was the highest volume level. The volume control level, adjustable from 1 to 9, could be identified 12 out of 17 operators and the range of volume levels was 4.5~9. As a result of Pearson Correlation Analysis, the correlation between volume level and SPL transmitted from the headset showed high relation as significance at the 0.672 level(p<0.05). To protect hearing loss of call center operators, it is more practical and effective measure to limit the volume level below the noise exposure level, i.e. 85 dB(A), rather than to carry out noise monitoring considering cost-effective aspect.

본 논문은 구형 마이크로폰 어레이의 부엽 레벨의 차를 증가시키기 위한 방법에 대한 연구 내용을 다루었다. 일반적인 어레이 신호처리에서 마이크로폰을 조밀하게 배치함으로써 어레이 응답에서의 주엽과 부엽 간의 차이를 늘릴 수 있고 어레이의 소음원 판별능력을 증가시킨다. 최근 사용되고 있는 상용 에레이들은 제작 단가와 어레이의 크기 때문에 센서의 수를 늘리는데 한계를 보이고 있다. 이런 문제를 극복하기 위해 본 연구에서는 MEMS 센서를 이용하여 구형 어레이에 적용하였다. 구형 마이크로폰 어레이를 이용한 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 정현파 소음원을 측정하였다. 실험을 위해 32 개의 일반 측정용 마이크로폰을 이용한 어레이와 85 개의 MEMS 마이크로폰을 이용한 구형 어레이를 제작하였다. 구형 조화 분해기법과 빔형성기법을 이용하여 측정 데이터를 분석하였다. 2 kHz 이상의 소음원에 대하여 MEMS 마이크로폰 어레이가 4 dB 이상의 부엽 저감 능력을 가지는 것을 확인하였다.

A basic concept for selection criteria of measuring places of RVI CVAP is to determine measuring places and sensors based on the results of the hydraulic and structural analysis for RVI CVAP in APR1400. In addition, there is the important selection criteria to determine measuring places for measurement of RVI CVAP ; the first is to choose measuring places according to U.S. NRC R.G. 1.20, the second is to select measuring places by RVI design review, the third is to option on the basis of measurement results of SYSTEM 80, the forth is to decide using review results on a design change of a reactor and the last is to determine using the review on the possibility of installation/removal of sensors and structures for the measurement. We developed selection criteria of measuring places for RVI CVAP in APR1400 and this will be directly applied to the measurement program for RVI CVAP.

The equation of motion for the piping system conveying harmonically pulsating fluid is presented. When pulsating fluid flows, the properties of this system like mass, stiffness and damp is changing according to fluid fluctuation. To solve the steady-state time response of this system, numerical integration method of differential equation was usually used. But this method has some problem such time consuming method and difficulty of converging. Therefore this research suggests reliable and efficient numerical method to solve steady-state time response of piping system by using displacement assumption method.

The study described in this paper is aimed to maintain a constant output of wind turbine system via pitch control of wind turbine using Advanced PID(APID) controller. In order to improve dynamic response characteristic in terms of pitch angle and disturbance reject, the APID controller is developed. The structure of the APID is composed with derivative P controller and new type of integral control action. This new improved integral control has concept of error window and weight function concept. The performance of the APID control technique is compared with those of conventional ones via simulation. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective and enhanced the dynamic performance of the system.
