Paper sludge ash was assured as material of a sort of pozzolan. For the reason of fluidity decrease caused by the strong absorption of paper stooge ash and the decrease of compressive strength in case of using over30% replacement by the weight of cement, paper sludge ash is not suitable for blending material. Therefore, it is necessary to find proper replacement ratios between paper sludge and blast furnace slag to insure compressive compensation and appropriate slump. Accordingly, as varied the blending ratios of paper sludge and blast furnace slag, testing mortar was made. This study was aimed to investigate the possibility of using blending replacement of paper sludge ash and blast furnace slag throughout compressive test, flow test, SEM(Scanning Eletron Microscope), MIP(Mercury Intrusion Porosity test), and TG-DTA(Thermal analysis).

The production of Portland cement involves maximum use of resources and energy, which leads to destruction of tile ecological environment, raising in serious environmental issues such as acid rain and the greenhouse effect. In order to combat the arising problems associated with Portland cement, it thus is necessary that a non-clinker cement should be developed. In this study, non-clinker cement is produced by blending granulate blast furnace slag with phosphogypsum as main materials, and small amounts of hydrate lime or waste lime as activators. This paper aims to investigate compressive strength according to various condition of mixing ratio, blame, W/C ratio and curing temperature. Compressive strength of non-clinker cement increases continuously according to increase in curing age and blain. Although the compressive strength is fairly comparable to that of OPC in the early curing age, it reaches a higher lever in the later age than that of OPC due to the optimum mixing ratio and the continuous reaction of slag and phosphogypsum. Results obtained from this study have shown that non-clinker cement could be used as a replacement of OPC.

Chloride ions have a tendency to penetrate into concrete and proceed the corrosion by depassivating rebar surface. Thus the deteriorated concrete is subject to experience severe degrading of durability under marine environment. Physical properties of mortar, such as, compressive strength and penetration depth of chloride ion were investigated. And to investigate the effect of containing SG, FA in mortar, the diffusion coefficient of chloride was measured through an electro - migration test. The diffusion coefficient of chloride was decreased with the increase of replacement ratio of SG compared with plain specimen.

Ternary blended concrete containing both fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag is initial cost effective, and environment friendly. Furthermore, it has many technical advantages such as improvement of long term compressive strength, rheology property, reduction of hydration heat, etc. However, use and data on the performance of ternary blended concrete are limited, and it is necessary to study on the adoption of this technology. This study examined the durability performance of ternary blended concrete comparing with binary blended concrete and ordinary portland concrete. From the results of this study, it was concluded that ternary blended concrete is very suitable to submerged zone under maine environment.

In this research influences of type and concentration of alkali activator and curing condition on the hydration, and properties of alkali activated blast furnace slag(AAS) concrete were investigated. Sodium carbonate and sulfate were used as alkali activators and their concentration were 4~10 weight percent with Na
$_2$ O equivalent to binder. The curing conditions were standard curing using 23$^{\circ}C$ water and activated curing chamber at$65^{\circ}C$ . Results show that in case of sodium carbonate addition high early strengths were gained by activation of early hydration, but later strength gained was slight. On the other side sodium sulfate strengths were continuously increased with adding amount and ages. Steam curing activated early hydration so that early strengths were improved but later strengths were similar to standard curing. The strength reduction of AAS mortar with sodium sulfate was less than OPC mortar in 5% sulfuric acid solution so that AAS concrete can be useful for acid-resistance concrete. -
Concrete placed under cold weather has some defects such as the decrease of initial strength by hydration delay, strength unrecovery at unhardened concrete freezing, and structural failure and crack by expansion pressure. So, in this study, we tried to evaluate the JIS mortar which was made under cold weather using de-icing agency. In mortar test, the do-icing agency increased compressive strength under standard curing, and the de-icing agency made by NaNO
$_2$ gave the highest strength. However, as pre-curing time under 21$^{\circ}C$ was short, the de-icing agency made by NaNO$_2$ and Ca[NO$_3$ ]$_2$ had the highest strength. -
Cloride attack of concrete is one of the important causes of corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete with carbonation and frost damage. In this paper, the effect of fly-ash on the cloride attack were investigated by varying water binder ratio and fly-ash contents according to the chloride ion penetrationa test. (ASTM C 1202-94) The principal conclusions from this research were as follows: 1) The compressive strength of concrete at large ages, depends more on
$C_2$ S contents of base cement than fly-ash contents. 2) On the other hand, the chloride ion penetration of concrete at large ages, principally depends on fly-ash contents and the influence of type of base cement is insignificant. -
This study is experiment results that carried out the sulfuric acid immersion of the mortar containing blast furnace slag powder, based ell the mechanism of the sulfuric acid corrosion for concrete which was caused by the H
$_2$ S gas. The used materials is OPC, slag powder and gypsum, and the proportion of cement is total 13 levels which are 0~70% of the contents of slag, 0~6% of the contents of gypsum. The specimen is immersed by 5% H$_2$ SO$_4$ solution after 28 days and its weight loss is measured at intervals of 7 days. The results of experiment showed that the substitution ratio of 70% slag was excellent at a point of view for the sulfuric acid resistance and the sulfuric acid resistance was not improved by tile increase of the blaine of slag(8, 000longrightarrow10, 000$\textrm{cm}^2$ /g) and the addition of gypsum. -
Protection against salt attack in seawater is obtained by using a dense, quality concrete with a low water-cement ratio, and a components appropriate for producing concrete having the needed salt resistance. The objective of this study is to evaluate the feature of corrosion with using the various concrete materials under marine exposure environment. According to the test results, slag powder and anti -corrosion inhibitor showed high chloride resistance effect. Also concre crack have an influence on corrosion of steel in spite of mixed design for salt resistance concrete. The requirement for low permeability is essential not only to delay the effect of salt attack, but also to afford adquate protection to reinforcement with admixtures.

The induced chemical and salt solution in water or admixture are originated to the corrosion process of the steeo rebar. These liquids penetrate into concrete as the accompanied by the chemical reaction and cause to attack the steel rebar in concrete. Concrete surfaces which it exposed to deicing, water and sea water is allowed to enter the chlorides in the structures. To prevent from the source of corrosion and deterioration Is subjected to put an end to corrode or reduce to contaminate on the steel rebar. As this reason the MCI 2022 products are applied to the surface of concrete and steel rebar. The concrete samples were made of to the kind of four, i.e. RF, MR, MS, and MM. Corrosion inhibitor is applied to coat on the surface of concrete after it had been cured for 28days. Specimen were immersed in a 3.5% sodium chloride solution. Concrete specimen were tested to determine the changes of the resistance polarization, Rp, over a 22 weeks period. MCI 2022 is significantly shown the corrosion inhibition of steel rebar in 3.5% NaCl solution. In the each different concrete sample, MS and MM is seemed to be better than others. The results are proofed that MCI 2022 is promised to maintain the inhibition of corrosion with high resistance polarization of the steel rebar in concrete.

Incineration method of municipal solid waste is the general method for reduction it's quantity and weight. Municipal solid waste incineration ash is classified two general types of ash : fly ash((MWFA) and bottom ash(MWBA)). MWFA containing a high degree heavy-metal may give rise to a serious environmental trouble. Therefore, this study was carried out to examine utilization of fly ash. In this study, we tried to find the recycling method of fly ash as a environmental-friendly artificial aggregate. The artificial aggregate using fly ash was tested for the various aspects, including physical properties and environmental stability. The qualities of artificial aggregate are similar to it of lightweight aggregate, and the heavy metal leaching concentration are very lower than a limitation of KSLT and EP.

Activation energy value is different according to cement, admixture and water-cement ratio also the relation of age-temperature is as non-linear as activation energy value is large. So to make accurate explanation for the effect of temperature on concrete strength development property, it is necessary to investigation for activation energy value. This study compares activation energy value recommended by Freiesleben and ASTM with activation energy value obtained by consequence of mortar examination according to ASTM C 1074-93. As the result of this study, activation energy value obtained by the study is 37.19KJ/mol, and in case of activation energy value obtained by the study explain temperature's influence about concrete strength development more accurate than activation energy value recommend by Freiesleben and ASTM.

This paper concerns the within test strength of concrete cured under different conditions. Those conditions are water curing, field curing and cores drilled from the existing structures. The test factors are not only above cured conditions but also concrete ages of 3, 7, 14 and 28 days and concrete strength of 202, 252 and 650kgf/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ . The test results are as follows; (1) In spite of within test results, concrete strength is very different from curing states of concrete (2) The strength of cores drilled from existing structures are smaller than the strength of concrete cured in water by 3~4% and larger than that of concrete cured in field by 8~17% (3) Core strength is largely dependant on the curing state of top surface of concrete. -

This paper presents an analytical prediction of the fatigue damage of reinforced concrete bridge columns subjected to cyclic load. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. The smeared crack approach is incorporated. In boundary plane at which each member with different thickness is connected, local discontinuity in deformation due to the abrupt change in their stiffness can be taken into account by introducing interface element. The effect of number of load reversals with the same displacement amplitude has been also taken into account to model the reinforcing steel and concrete. The proposed numerical method for fatigue damage of reinforced concrete bridge columns subjected to cyclic load is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.

This paper proposes an analytical method to predict the behavior of reinforced concrete beams subjected to reversed cyclic loading. The proposed method is based on the compatibility aided truss model and adopts the stress vs. strain curve of concrete which considers the softening effects. This model Is verified by comparing to the six reinforced concrete panel tests.

The flexural ductility capacity of reinforced concrete columns can be expressed either in terms of curvature ductility or displacement ductility. To evaluate ductility capacity of reinforced concrete columns, analytical models and a non-linear analysis program, NARCC have been developed, which is applicable to the RC columns subjected to seismic loading. The analytical results by using computer program NARCC are in good agreement with the test results. In order to develop relationships between the curvature ductility and the displacement ductility, the analysis for total 21,600 RC circular columns using the computer program NARCC have been carried out for parametric studies. Based on the results from the parametric studies, a correlation equation between the curvature ductility and the displacement ductility was developed.

Flat Plate structures subjected to lateral load are susceptible to the brittle failure, therefore deformability of plate-column connections should be ensured to resist against earthquake. However, according to previous study, existing experiments overestimate the deformability of connections and current design provision do not accurately explains them. In the present study, parametric study using nonlinear finite element analysis was performed. Based on the numerical results, seismic design method considering the deformability of connections was developed.

In this paper, an averaged constitutive model of concrete and reinforcing bars for RC structure and path-dependent Ohsaki's model for soil are applied, and an elasto-plastic interface model having thickness is preposed for seismic analysis of underground RC subway station structure. A finite element analysis technique is developed by applying aforementioned constitutive equations and verified through seismic analysis of underground RC subway station. Then, failure mechanisms of the RC subway station structure under seismic action are numerically derived. Then, failure modes and damage levels of the station are also analytically evaluated for the cases of several designs of the underground RC station.

The seismic performance evaluation and retrofit process are very important for old bridge. If the result is not appropriate, a retrofit process requires. Among the various retrofit methods, this paper selects a seismic isolator and evaluates a seismic performance of bridge. In case of applied seismic isolators to bridge, it proved that seismic capacity is increased by isolators A period of bridge is increased, and a seismic response is decreased. A method of evaluation is capacity spectrum method. By means of a graphical procedure, capacity spectrum estimates a performance level of structure by comparing the capacity of structure with the demand of earthquake ground motion on the structure. The objective of this study is to compare a seismic performance of a non-seismic designed bridge and seismic isolated bridge and to verify a effect of seismic isolator

Bridge columns in strong earthquake area are to be designed and constructed so that enough ductility should be guaranteed. Therefore, large amount of transverse reinforcement is required to confine core concrete of the bridge column by design specifications. In moderate seismicity regions, however, adopting the full ductility design concept sometimes results in construction problems due to reinforcement congestion. For the moderate seismicity regions, a design based on required ductility and required transverse reinforcement might be a reasonable approach. Ductility demand design or performance-based design might be an appropriate approach especially for regions of moderate seismic risk. The procedure and application of this design approach are presented in this paper.

The purpose of this study is to develop a reasonable design for transverse confinement reinforcement considering ductility and required transverse confinement reinforcement of RC bridge columns. In order to develop relationships between the curvature ductility and required transverse confinement reinforcement for design purpose, the analysis using the computer program NARCC have been carried out for parametric studies. Based on the results from the parametric studies, an equation for calculating the required transverse confinement reinforcement based on ductility demand was developed for seismic design of RC bridge columns. The equations proposed by this study will provide more reasonable and more effective design guidelines for performance-based seismic design of RC bridge columns.

An analytical fracture mechanics approach was used to investigate the fracture behavior of reinforced concrete beams. By use of this approach based on fracture mechanics concepts, the crack width and length as well as the strength and cracking stability of reinforced concrete beams were investigated. The results obtained from the analytical studies were also discussed in terms of the minimum reinforcement ratio and crack width specified in design code provisions. The analytical approach based on fracture mechanics concepts are very useful to predict the fracture behavior of reinforced concrete beams.

This study is performed to analyze of reinforced concrete beams under fire and to calculate remaining strength. The analysis is based on the assumption that plane section remains plane after bending due to load and non-linear temperature increases. Finite difference method is used to find temperature field in a section. The residual strength is attained considering the effect of temperature rise on the mechanical properties of concrete, self-equilibrium stress and reduced section. Further research in much needed on the material models of concrete since it governs temperature distribution and theoretical results.

The modification factor( k-factor) of equivalent damping ratio utilized in the current state-of-the-practice to account for the imperfection of reinforced concrete structures in hysteresis loop is investigated. From this, it is found that the current modification factor does not include the effect of cyclic loading, one of the important characteristic properties of earthquake loading. This could be taken into account by considering the energy absorption efficiency based on the cummulative plastic deformation. From the study, it is suggested that the current approach for the modification factor for the equivalent damping ratio should be reformed.

Nonlinear analysis of the reinforced concrete beam subjected to torsion is presented. Seventeen equations involving seventeen variables are derived from the equilibrium equation, compatibility equation, and the material constitutive laws to solve the torsion problem. Newton method was used to solve the nonlinear simultaneous equations and efficient algorithms are proposed. Present model covers the behavior of reinforced concrete beam under pure torsion from service load range to ultimate stage. Tensile resistance of concrete after cracking is appropriately considered. The softened concrete truss model and the average stress-strain relations of concrete and steel are used. To verify the validity of Present model, the nominal torsional moment strengths according to ACI-99 code and the ultimate torsional moment by present model are compared to experimental torsional strengths of 55 test specimens found in literature. The ultimate torsional moment strengths by the present model show good results.

Flat plate is susceptible to punching shear failure at the slab-column connection, which may cause catastrophic structural collapse. To prevent such brittle failure, strength and ductility of the connection should be ensured. However, since it is very difficult to experimentally simulate the actual load and boundary conditions of the flat plate system, it is not easy to obtain reliable information and data regarding to the strength and ductility of the flat plate-column edge connection. In the present study, numerical studies were performed for edge connections of continuous flat plate. The results were compared with the existing experiments, and the variations of bending moment, drift, effective width around the connection were investigated. Based on tile findings of the numerical studies, the disadvantages of current design methods were discussed.

The evaluation equation of torsional moment for prestressed concrete members in ACI 318-95 ignores the contribution of concrete, T
$_{c}$ . Several research indicates that the current ACI code is not successful in predicting the observed torsional moment of the PSC beams with reasonable accuracy. This paper proposes an evaluation equation of torsional moment taking into account the inter-effects between concrete and torsional reinforcement on the torsional resistance of the PSC beams. According to the comparison with the 31 test results, the torsion equation in ACI code underestimated or overestimated the real torsional moment of prestressed concrete beams. On the other hand, the proposed torsional equation is shown to be in a good agreement with experimental results.s. -
Recently, a concern to verify the displacement capacity of shear wall has been arised to produce suitable data for the performance based design. In this paper, a process is presented In evaluate the displacement capacity of shear wall. The displacement of shear wall is expressed as the superpositopn of shear and flexural deformation. Variable crack angle truss model with a modification and existing analysis program(XTRACT) are used in calculating shear and flexural displacement, respectively. The accuracy of proposed method is evaluated by the comparison calculation results with previous test results. From the comparison, it was shown that the displacement capacity of shear wall could be well predicted by using the process.

The bonding strength of the interface between the actual bridge concrete deck and overlay was primarily affected by the shear that depended on the flexural behavior than pure tensile, but the field bonding test measured bonding strength by the pure tensile due to simplicity and field applicability. Therefore, the purpose this study was to evaluate the required direct bond strength for bridge deck overlay using Finite element analysis with the many variavles such as bridge deck types, span length, material properties, lanes, and loading types. The commercial program LUSAS was used in analysis. The analysis results were compared to the value of specification currently used in highway construction site.

The most common failure of breakwater comes from impact wave pressure generated by intense storms. This impact pressure is 10 folds greater than the pressure generated by normal waves. Therefore, the precise knowledge of magnitude of impact wave pressure applied on breakwater and its structural response is crucial for the economical and safe design. However, presently, a precise analysis of breakwater is restricted by insufficient and incorrect consideration of the effect of soil-structure Interaction. 3 major research areas included in this study are (1) theoretical analysis of impact wave pressure, (2) selection of breakwater structure model (3) soil-structure interaction analysis using limit analysis computer program. Based on this analysis, predicted response of concrete breakwater and probable failure location under wave impact pressure are determined.

As the deposits of natural sands have slowly been depleted, it has resulted in an increase in manufactured fine aggregate (MFA). Standard specifications for fine aggregate for concrete contained in KS F 2558 permit a maximum of 7 percent finer than the No. 200 sieve (75
${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ ). Since the production process for MFA normally generates 10 to 20 percent of micro fines-which is defined as aggregates passing the No. 200 sieve (75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ )-more than permitted by specifications, Excess fines must be removed by screening and/or washing operations. The amount of by-products will continue to grow as production increases with environmental discharge restrictions. This fundamental study focuses on experimental research for the adequacy of use of micro fines included in crushed aggregate using methylene blue test. Total of 63 types of sands from seven different rocks were tested. Based on the test results, the methylene blue test was turned out to be a good indicator of the quality of micro fines for concrete and a supplementary article and an amendment of the KS standard were recommended. -
Recently, the more the PET bottles are needed, the more waste PET bottles were produced. So, if there was no suitable recycling, that was contaminate our environment and use up the natural resources. This paper deals with the artificial lightweight aggregate(ALA), made of waste PET bottles, and the properties of concrete replaced with ALA. As a result of experiment, it is shown that the specific gravity of PBLA is 1.39, the unit volume weight is 844 kg/
$cm^3$ , and absorbing rate is 0. In absorbing rate test, the rate is 10 % increased by replacing of 20 % PBLA and the mixture rate for water and cement is 44.6 % and 51.2 %, in case target strength for 240kgf/$cm^2$ , and 270kg/$cm^2$ , by added PBLA 75 % and 50 % respectively. So, to obtain a certain target strength, appropriate W/C ratio is required the replacement ratio of PBLA. -
The purposes of this study are to investigate the material characteristics and strength properties of concrete mixed with waste incinerated bottom ash(BA), and to evaluate the leaching of environmentally harmful heavy metals from the bottom ash itself and from hardened concrete mixed with bottom ash. For this purpose, two reference mixes with W/C ratios of 0.45 and 0.55 were used, and the replacement proportion of BA was varied with the ratios of 0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, and 100% by volume of fine aggregate in the reference mixes. The variation of compressive and splitting tensile strength, workability and unit weight of concrete were considered. Test results showed that the strengths, workability and unit weight decreased with increase in proportion of BA replaced. Leaching test results showed that there would be no environmentally harmful problem from using BA as the substitutes of fine aggregates in concrete.

This study is performed to investigate the influence of aggregate factor on the estimation of water content in fresh concrete. According to the results, water content is estimated higher in the case of basalt and granite aggregate than in the case of limestone because absorption water ratio of basalt and granite is large. As the replacement ratio of recycled aggregate increases, water content is estimated higher. But, after correcting absorption water ratio of aggregate, estimated water content is similar to mixture water content. Therefore, it is important to know the absorption water ratio of aggregates accurately, to estimate water content.

To evaluate the practical application of oyster shells as construction materials, an experimental study was performed. More specifically, the long-term mechanical properties and durability of concrete blended with oyster shells were investigated. Test results indicate that long-term strength of concrete blended with 10% oyster shells is almost identical to that of normal concrete. However, the long-term strength of concrete blended with 20% oyster shells Is appreciably lower than that of normal concrete. 1'hereby, concrete with higher oyster shell has the possibility giving a bad influence on the concrete long-term strength. Elastic modulus of concrete blended with crushed oyster shells decreases as the blending mixture ratio increases. Namely, the modulus is reduced by approximately 10∼15% when oyster shells are blended up to 20% replacing the fine aggregate. The drying shrinkage strain increases as the blending ratio increases. In addition, the existing model code of drying shrinkage does not coincide with the test results of this study. An adequate prediction equation needs to be developed. The utilization of oyster shells as the fine aggregate in concrete has an insignificant effect on freezing and thawing resistance, carbonation and sulfuric acid attack of concrete recycling. However, water permeability is considerably improved.

In this paper, the characteristics of fresh and hardened recycled concrete were experimentally compared to investigate the applicability of the recycled fine aggregates with the substitution ratio. Test results show that the workability of the recycled concrete decreases with the increment of substitution ratio of the recycled fine aggregates except for type-D case which has a lower absorption ratio. Also air content was increased with increasing substitution ratio. It was found that the compressive strength and elastic modulus of recycled concrete were decreased with increasing substitution ratio of the recycled fine aggregates. And, the superplasticizer was more effective on the workability recovery of the recycled concrete.

This study is intended to investigate the relationship between rebound value of P type schmidt hammer and the compressive strength with various aggregates, and a series of experiments about early strength quality control by P type schmidt hammer was performed. According to the results, the compressive strength of concrete using basalt and limestone aggregate is higher by 3% and lower by 4% than that of concrete using granite aggregate respectively. Concrete using basalt and lime stone aggregate show high rebound value in vertical strike. Estimation of the compressive strength does not show differences in horizontal strike, but the compressive strength is estimated high in order of granite, basalt and limestone aggregate in vertical strike. A good correlation between the rebound value of schmidt hammer and the compressive strength is confirmed regardless of aggregate types, so it could be possible to control the quality of concrete by P type schmidt hammer test when basalt and limestone aggregates are used at the same time.

As a notion of environment protection changes throughout the world, construction engineers, as part of the effort to resolve environmental problems, have been actively doing research on environmental friendly porous concrete using large and non-uniform aggregate. Porous Concrete enables water and air to pass through a firmly hardened material and allows required nutrients to reach roots of plants. The purpose of this study is to analyze planting ability when the change of aggregate gradation and void ratio. The results of an experiment from the planting ability of the porous concrete to its influence on the compressive strength are reported in this paper. As a result of the experiment, the compressive strength is higher when the gradation of aggregate is smaller, and it also goes higher when the void ratio gets smaller The planting ability of porous concrete is decided by the germination and the grass length of Indigofera pseudo-tinctoria(IPT). The length of IPT is longer when the gradation of aggregate is greater and the void ratio gets smaller.

This study is intended is to analyze the blocking performance with variation of the gap of bar and kinds of metal lath for construction joint when placing concrete. According to the results, passing ratio of concrete increases with increase of vibrating time. In the case of W/C 50%, when blocking concrete with bar of D10 and D20 which the gap of bar is below 200mm, or metal lath, passing ratio of concrete is below 10%, so blocking performance is favorable. In the case of W/B 30%, while concrete does not flow out without vibration at slump 21mm, concrete flows out at some degree before vibration at slump flow 65mm and then, as 5 seconds passes after first vibration, final passing ratio shows about 85~90%. When blocking concrete by bar D10 of the gap 20mm, bar D20 of the gap 10mm and metal lath, it is thought that concrete can be blocked effectively because final passing ratio is below 10%.

This study is intended to develop the new concrete block for planting through investigating weight and basic physical properties, varying the shapes of concrete block for planting. According to the results, unit weight, void ratio and absorption water ratio of concrete block show 1625kg/
$m^3M$ 30%, and 7.7% respectively, and pH is small, compared with non neutralization and pH is below 8.5 after 7 days elapses. The compressive strength of concrete block for planting shows 38kgf/$cm^2$ at the age of 7 days, and 50kgf/$cm^2$ at the age of 28 days respectively. As the number of the hole is many and the area of hollow is large, weight of developed concrete block for planting grow light. Weight of optimum scheme with 2 hollow is reduced by 25%. -
This study is focused on the influence of mixture and construction factor on bleeding amount of concrete According to the results, Amount of bleeding with mixture factor increases with increase of water contents and W/C. Amount of bleeding with construction factors is larger in the case of placing height of 1m than in the case of placing height of 0 and 0.5m. Amount of bleeding is larger at the temperature of 20℃ than at the temperature of 35℃ and 5℃, and increases in order of vibration compacting, standard lamping and non tamping. Therefore, to reduce bleeding, it is thought that it is profitable to reduce water content within the range that fluidity and workability don't go bad, to lower the placing height and not to do compacting too much.

This research was to investigate the invasion and diffusion properties of chloride ion on the concrete containing mineral admixtures by the electrically accelerated test. Mineral admixtures selected in mixes were fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, silica fume, and meta-kaolin with 3 degrees of replacement ratios. Tang and Nilsson's test method was used to estimate chloride diffusion coefficients of that mixes. As a result, the total current passing charge and the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion were reduced with the use of mineral admixtures and the increase of replacement ratios. In addition, compressive strength was related with diffusion coefficient of chloride ion. Diffusion coefficients of concrete mixed with ground granulated blast-furnace slag showed relatively low value under the range of compressive strength of 400㎏f/㎠.

This paper deals with structural behavior of reinforced concrete beams under fire and fire damaged condition. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of the beams under high temperature condition and to evaluate the remaining strength of flexural members by exposure time to fire. For this purpose, twelve beam specimens are fabricated and experimented. Ten specimens are exposed to the fire for 1 and 2 hours and to the failure. After being cooled in room temperature, the specimens are loaded to the failure. The research result shows that the main variables of the test, concrete cover and exposure time to fire are much influenced on the structural behavior and the remaining strength.

In this paper, an experimental study is carried out to find out structural behavior of upper slab in concrete box girder bridges. The major variables in the tests are the cross-section of upper slab including haunch dimensions. The strains of concrete and steel bars and the deflections of slabs are measured automatically during the tests. The test results indicate that the size of haunches has much influence on the structural behavior of box girders. The appropriate haunch dimensions are suggested from the present study.

The 1995 devastating Hyogoken-Nambu earthquake sent mental shock waves that awakened the public concern about the seismic performance of infrastructures in Korea. Seismic safety of reinforced concrete bridge piers could be secured through sufficient strength and stiffness of longitudinal steels and confined core concrete, and through ductile behaviour of bridge piers in the inelastic range. This study has been performed to verify the effect of lap spliced longitudinal steel for the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers. Quasi-static test has been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as displacement ductility, energy absorption etc.

In recent years building floors become larger and more spacious due to the development of new design methods and high strength and light weight materials, However, such long span floor systems may provide smaller amount of damping and have longer period so that they would be more vulnerable to the floor vibration. This study attempts to evaluate the performance of the floors in typical apartment buildings. Three different floors with the area of
$43.2m^2 41.44m^2 and 34.5m^2$ , were investigated. The guideline provided by AISC(1997) is used to check the acceptability of the floor vibration. -

Recent trends in the construction of building frame feature the increase use of composite steel concrete members functioning together in what terms of mixed structural systems. One of such systems, RCS(reinforced concrete column and steel beam) system is introduced and closely examined focusing on bearing strength of the composite joint in this paper. The main objective of this study was to develope one of details to increase bearing capacity while bearing failure is one of the two primary modes of failure in RCS system. Local bearing tests with specimens about 1/3 of the actual concrete column size were performed applying uniform load through steel plate with 100

The purpose of this paper was to estimate the cumulative damage of pavement concrete by split tension fatigue test. The split tension fatigue test of variable amplitude loading were performed in two and three stages. The results of the fatigue test by variable amplitude loading showed that the sums of damage were greater than 1 in the increasing sequence loading tests, and less than 1 in the decreasing sequence loading tests. The remaining life estimated by equivalent damage theory was almost similar to that of experimental results.

This paper discusses the influencing factors such as coring position, height to diameter ratio of core specimen(h/d) and coring torque on the strength estimation of concrete by small site coring method in order to verify the validities of small size core method. According to results, as for the influence of drilling position, when core specimens are obtained from the place parallel to placing direction, compressive strength of core specimens are higher than those perpendicular to placing direction. This is due to the loss of the area of core specimen perpendicular to plating direction by bleeding. And in case of
$\phi$ 24mm core specimen, when vertical drilling against placing direction is taken. compressive strength of core specimen obtained at the bottom of the structure is higher than that at the top of the structure. As for the influence of height to depth ratio, as h/d ratio increases compressive strength shows to be decreased. As for the influences of rotation speed of drilling machine, as its speed goes up, compressive strength decreases, regardless of core diameter. -
This paper considers transference number in calculating diffusion coefficient of chloride ions of concrete and mercury intrusion porosimetry to investigate the volume and distribution of pore size, respectively, analyzing and discussing the property of resistance to chloride ion of concrete with granulated blast furnace slag. The experimental results show that the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion decreases with the rise of quantity of granulated blast furnace slag and pore structure of concrete with granulated blast furnace slag is different from that of OPC concrete. And from the results of regression analysis, the result showed that the diffusion coefficient of chloride ions is affected by capillary pore above 50nm.

Tong-young LNG tank is a LNG storage tank of 140,000 kl, and it is composed of Bottom Slab(Annular, Center), Outer Wall, Ring Beam and Roof. Generally, when concrete temperature arise, the complex thermal stress of inner and outer part can cause serious thermal crack and damage at structure. So in this paper, for the control of this thermal crack, we did the concrete mix design with the base of fly-ash 30% substitute at binder, and through the computer modelling at Bottom Slab(Annular, Center), Outer Wall, Ring Beam and Roof, we studied the probability of thermal crack by thermal crack index.

Autogenous shrinkage of concrete has been defined as decrease in volume due to hydration cement, not due to other causes such as evaporation, temperature change and external load and so on. For ordinary concretes, autogenous shrinkage is so little compared to the other deformations that it has been dignored. It has recently been proved, however, that autogenous shrinkage considerably increase with decrease in water to cement ratio. And it has been reported that cracking can be caused by autogenous shrinkage, when high- strength concretes were used. In this study, we propose an analytical system to represent autogenous shrinkage in cement paste in order to control crack due to autogenous shrinkage. The system is composed with the hydration model and pore structure model. Contrary to the usual assumption of uniform properties in the hydration progress, the hydration model to refine Tomosawa's represents the situation that inner and outer products are made in cement paste. The pore structure model is based upon the physical phenomenon of ion diffusion in cement paste and chemical phenomenon of hydration in cement particle. The proposed model can predict the pore volume ratio and the pore structure in cement paste under variable environmental conditions satisfactorily The autogenous shrinkage prdiction system with regard to pore structure development and hydration at early ages for different mix-proportions shows a reasonable agreement with the experimental data.

The so called setting is defined as the onset of rigidity in fresh concrete. In the analysis of the early-age concrete behavior, we consider fresh concrete as a structural element immediately after mixing. But for the activation of real structural behavior of fresh concrete, it takes some time after the beginning of hydration reaction. So, the very early age deformations due to hydration heat and shrinkage which occur before the setting do not produce restraint stresses. In this paper, we propose a setting characteristic model based on the so called percolation theory. From the analysis using the model, the influence of curing temperature is investigated and analytical results are compared with experimental results. From the comparison, the validity of proposed model is verified. This model is also applied to evaluate stress development in a temperature-stress test machine (TSTM) specimen and then the effect of setting time on the stress development is discussed.

The mechanical properties of concrete such as modulus of elasticity, bond strength and shear strength are proportional to square root of compressive strength. And compressive strength of concrete is developed rapidly at early ages. Thus the relationship between compressive strength and its mechanical properties should be verified because the mechanical properties of early age concrete and hardened concrete are different. In this study, to predict the concrete slab deflection at early ages, modulus of elasticity and effective moment of inertia(Ie) are observed and compared with experimental results.

The flexural fatigue tests were performed by stress levels of 90%, 80%, 70% and 60%, and stress ratio of 0.1. From this research, the S-N relationship, S-N-P relationship were derived and Weibull probability density functions was plotted using the distribution parameters. -
This study is intended to develop the self water proof admixture for durability concrete by anti-corrosion inhibitor. Chloride induced corrosion of reinforcement is one of the main factor which cause the deterioration of concrete structure. When the substitute anti-corrosion agents for a part of self waterproofing agent, the corrosion-proof increases for the increased water proofing capacity. And proper self waterproofing agent by cement weight in concrete was generally positive effect to concrete compressive strength, slump, freezing and thawing resistance. Also, permeability and absorption show a straight decrease when self waterproofing agent is added.

This study is intended to investigate the influence of mineral admixtures on the autogenous and drying shrinkage of high performance concrete. According to results, drying shrinkage increases with increase of fly ash content, and it does not show difference with replacement of blast furnace slag powder. It increases when incorporating silica fume or fly ash and silica fume together. The autogenous shrinkage shows increasing tendency with increase of silica fume and blast furnace slag powder content, and incorporating of silica fume or fly ash and silica fume together has effects on reducing autogenous shrinkage. Therefore, it is considered that application of both silica fume and fly ash can reduce the cracks caused by autogenous shrinkage, including enhancement in strength and placeability of high performance concrete.

In this paper, to seek a solution of reducing autogenous shrinkage three types of bar restricted concrete specimens which have similar compressive strength were tested. The three type of concrete were plain concrete-P25 type,
$10^{\circ}C$ fly-ash replaced concrete-F10 type, and$1^{\circ}C$ expansion admixture replaced concrete-SP1 type, and with the test result an experimental study was conducted to gain the tensile stress of concrete. From the result of P25, SP1, F10 tests, it was found that by the age of 14 the ratios of tensile stress to tensile strength of three specimens are$75^{\circ}C$ ,$47^{\circ}C$ ,$52^{\circ}C$ respectively. so we came to a conclusion that the SP1-type concrete has better capacity to reduce autogenous shrinkage than F10-type concrete at similar compressive strength condition. -
Drying shrinkage is the decrease in the volume of a concrete element when it loses moisture by evaporating. Because of low water/binder ratio(W/B) and the use of chemical and mineral admixtures for high-strength concrete, the evolutions of moisture and the rate of cement hydration in high- strength concrete are significantly different from those in normal strength concrete. In this study, the drying shrinkage of high-strength concrete with and without fly ash was measured up to the age of 200 days. From the experimental test results, it was observed that the drying shrinkage decreased as the W/B decreased. As the W/B is lowered from 0.50 to 0.27, the difference of drying shrinkage between the fly ash concrete and the ordinary concrete is gradually increased.

An experimental study was carried out to investigate the flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with high-performance carbon fiber bars. Specimens designed with the conventional retrofitting method were also tested to compare load-carrying capacity and ductility. As the results, specimens strengthened with high-performance carbon fiber bars showed much higher load-carrying capacity and ductility compared to specimens strengthened with a steel plate and carbon fiber sheets. The failure mechanism of the specimen strengthened with a high-performance carbon fiber bar was bond-slip, whereas that of the others were interface debonding or rip-off.

Generally speaking, durability, load carrying capacity and the life of structure becomes to be shortened in all structures as time passed. Also, we have to repair and reinforce because of tile decrease of the traffic volume and overloaded vehicles in the bridge. External prestressing method is most popular and effective strengthening method which can be used for the prestressed concrete-girders. When strengthening with external prestressing method, there are many ways to install anchorage system. But, These methods have many faults. For example, the achorage force is so small or an anchorage system installation damages an existing structure. So, this paper suggested a new anchorage system to strengthen without any damage to the structure and then confirm the increase of durability and the properties of behavior with experimentation.

For the Externally bonded FRP systems, flexural design method is studied focusing on the reinforcement layer of the carbon fiber sheets. As the FRP layer is added, strengthening rate increases, but not proportionally as the FRP layer increases. This is reflected in the design formula appropriately by the bond cofficients from the added layers. As the number of FRP layer increases, the stress reinforcement and FRP sheet decreases, and it generally corresponds to the decrease rate of member flexural strength. This phenomenon is appearing indentically in a design formula and experimental result. The rate of
$M_{test}$ and$M_n$ is 1.19 and it is estimated as safety factor which is the reduction factor,${\psi}_f = 0.85$ . -
Recently fiber sheets are used for strengthening the damaged concrete structures due to its many advantages such as its durability, non-corrosive nature, low weight, ease of application, cost saving, control of crack propagation, strength to thickness ratio, high tensile strength, serviceability and aesthetic. However, the lack of analytical procedures for predicting the nominal moment capacity by the fiber sheet reinforcement leads to difficulties in the effective process of decisions of the factors in the strengthening procedure. In this work, flexural strengthening effects by fiber sheets bonded on soffit and web of the member are theoretically studied for the reinforced concrete T beam. The analytical solutions are compared with experimental results of several references to verify the proposed approach.

This study is to develop a strengthening method for slab bridges with external prestressing. There are so many different strengthening methods for damaged slab bridges, external prestressing method is the most effective, economical and durable strengthening method among them. But, its problem lies in anchoring devices, so recently, an effective anchoring method was developed and showed its improvements. In this study, a more improved method is suggested. Longitudinal tendons placed on both side of slab strengthens the whole bridge, and lateral tendons placed under the slab strengthens the middle of slab, and conveys the load at middle slab to both sides. Structural analysis for the tensile force for strengthening were analysed. Generally, 200-280tons for longitudinal tendon and 130-190 tons for lateral tendons are good enough to strengthen the damaged slab. This method has no upward roof work, so it is very convenient for installing. And no spaces under the slab are need, so it is good for shallow slabs which has less space under the slab.

Noise has become an environmental pollution that affects most peoples' health, comfort or general well being. there are many sources of noise, but one of them clearly dominates road traffic noise. It has traditionally been associated with engine and exhaust noise of vehicles. However the emission and propagation of noise from these sources were partly reduced, while at the same time the noise emission from the tire/road interaction on a relative scale became more and more prominent Generally, Portland cement concrete(PCC) pavements have the advantage of durability and superior surface friction when compared to most dense-graded asphalt. However, It is known that PCC pavements create more noise than asphaltic surfaces due to the noise from interaction of tire and pavement surface. Therefore, recent research has shown some new concrete pavement textures to be worth further examination. So in this paper, we considered the 9 types of low noise concrete pavements to evaluate tire/pavement noise.

In road pavements, it is known that cement concrete pavement has superior durability. But in repairing pavement, cement concrete pavement is not usually applied because of the length of time while the road is interrupted when using Ordinary and Rapid-hardening Portland Cement. And Super High Early Strength Cement and Ultra Super High Early Strength Cement are not favorable for ready mixed concrete because of rapid setting time, high slump loss and other restrictions. We developed special cement developing 1 day strength of over 30.0N/
$mm^2$ to open the road within 1 day and workable time is maintained over 1 hour so that it can be used as ready mixed concrete. We performed experimental overlay construction with concrete and evaluated the properties of the fresh and hardened concrete. The flexural strength was over 5.0N/$mm^2$ and the compressive strength was over 30N/$mm^2$ at 1 day. So it is thought that the road can be open to traffic within 1 day after placement. -
In vertical construction joint, adhesives such as epoxy, acrylic, latex, etc. have been usually used for bonding fresh concrete to hardened concrete. In this study, performance of adhesives under various application conditions was investigated through tests for slant shear and flexural strength. From the results of the tests, it is found that superior bonding performance can be obtained under good surface preparation without adhesive when high strength concrete is used.

In the present study, immersion test using artificial seawater was performed to evaluate the resistance of mortar specimens with or without ground granulated blast-furnace slag (SG) and fly ash (FA). Another variable was the fineness levels of SG (4,450, 6,000 and 8,000 ㎠/g). From the results of the immersion test for 270 days of exposure, the excellent resistance to seawater attack for SG mortar mixtures, especially in a high fineness levels, was confirmed. However, the reductions in compressive strength of FA mortar specimens was similar to those of OPC mortar specimens irrespective of replacement of FA.. In order to understand the deterioration mechanism due to seawater attack, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis were also carried out. Some reactants such as ettringite, gypsum, brucite and Friedel's salt were possibly detected through XRD technique.

Silica fume influences concrete diffusivity and permeability as well as strength by densifying the microstructure of the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) of high strength concrete, by reducing the capillary porosity of cement paste and by producing less diffusible and permeable pozzolanic CSH gel than CSH gel of conventional cement hydration. This paper presents a procedure to predict the chloride ion diffusivity and water permeability of the high strength concrete containing silica fume. Water binder ratio, silica fume addition, degree of hydration and volume fraction of aggregates are considered as the major factors influencing concrete diffusivity and permeability in the procedure. Analytical results using the procedure are shown and verified with other data.

The social trouble to the durability of concrete rises recently because the embedded rebar corrosion influences concrete structures to deteriorate structural capacity. And also, the rebar corrosion causes crack of concrete, decrease of steel section and separation of covering concrete. In the result, the bond strength of concrete and embedded rebar decreases, which causes deterioration of the structure behavior in reinforced concrete. In this study, the relation of bond strength and bond-slip was understood to evaluate capacity deterioration of reinforced concrete, and experiments were carried out by compressive strength and embedded rebar condition in the rebar corrosion rate.

This paper discussed micro - structure of skin concrete to understand transport properties from surface and seek thickness from surface which is seriously influenced on durability. Concrete at nearer surface has high porosity relative to inner concrete. The porosity of concrete and ISAT value at region from surface to 20 mm depth is decreased with depth. On the other hand, according to the result of ASTM C 1202 with specimen thickness, critical depth which affects fast ionic penetration through interfacial transition zone (ITZ) equals 35mm and the critical depth would be directly influenced by the effects of ITZ on chloride diffusion unrelated with W/C ratio.

In Powder System, SCC demands high dosage of superplasticizer and a lage amout of powder for suitable fluidity and viscosity. Okamura's method of most representative mixing design method in SCC of Powder-System is unfavorable economically because of using a large amount of powder. In addition, many ready-mixed concrete plants do not use his mix design method and procedure due to complexity for practical application. Therefore, Nan Su proposed more simple mix design method than Okamura's. It had an advantage in simplicity in practical application and required a smaller amount of powders compared with Okamura's method. This paper proposed an optimal mixture proportion of SCC with consideration of Nan Su's method. The new and modified mix design method required a smaller amount of powder than that of Nan Su's. To check the properties of SCC, considered with the requirements specified by the Japanese Society of Civil Engineering.(JSCE)

This study attempts to calculate tile nominal flexural strength of reinforced concrete beam with carbon fiber sheets by tile 27 cases which have three steel ratios and four reinforcing ratios. Based on the result, application possibilities of strength design method to estimate the nominal moment is investigated and valuable data of carbon fiber sheets for reinforcing design will be discussed.

Determination of Nominal Moment of Strengthening Beam with Carbon Fiber Sheets Using Strength MethodRoutinely, strength method for the determination of the nominal moment of reinforced concrete beam is assumed to also be suitable for strengthening beams with carbon fiber sheets since typically strengthening beams compromise 98% by volume of reinforced concrete. Flexural capacity of strengthening beam is absolutely dependent upon the type of reinforcement materials, amount of reinforcement, anchoring system, adhesion capacity between reinforcement material and concrete. Therefore, it might be incorrect to use strength method for analysis and design of strengthening beam without considering the differences in the load-deflection curves, mechanism of failure, state of stress distribution, failure strain of the reinforcement. An flexural analysis based on force equilibrium and strain comparability has been developed for strengthening beam. Systematic experimental investigations are compared with analytical results. Then, the adaptation of strength method for strengthening beam have also been discussed.

Fibers have been used to improve tile flexural performance of reinforced concrete. Therefore many different kinds of fibers have been developed and tested to reinforcing concrete. Basalt fiber is one of the recently developed materials for this purpose. Basalt fiber produced from this basalt raw material has high initial strength and durability. But, the main advantages of the basalt fiber are resistance to high operating temperatures and lower modulus and chemical resistance compared to fiberglass. Also basalt fiber may be consumed as a potential replacement for expensive carbon fibers.

The purpose of this study is to develop an analytic model which can describe the behavior or concrete compressive member strengthened by CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) with various cross-sectional shapes such as circular. square, and octagonal and various laminate angles. The failure criterion of laminated CFS is based on Tsai-Wu failure criterion. The stress strain model of confined concrete compressive member is based on an equation proposed by Mander. The effective lateral confining pressure is considered and modified according to various cross-sectional shapes. Octagonal cross-section shows the best results in the aspect of ductility, while circular does in compressive strengthening effects. In addition, [0/0/0/0] laminate in which the direction of fiber is parallel to the direction of principal stress shows the superior strength and ductility than other laminates. The analytic results show that strength and ductility of the analytic model depend on the cross-sectional shapes as well as the laminate angles.

A prestressed/precast concrete system was used to build the new Asian Olympic Stadium Project in Pusan, Korea. The stadium(mainly intended for cycle racing) is designed for the 2002 Asian Olympic Games and has a seating capacity of 20,000 spectators plus a few private suites. More than 1300 prestressed/precast components were used and they include single columns, primary beams, cantilever beams, double riser stands, and double tees. Especially, a total of 24 cantilever beams is used on the fourth story for the stands and double tees. These 8m long beams are post-tensioned to prevent cracking, to increase their durability and to serve serviceability by vibration. A cantilever section with cast-in-place topping is 800mm wide and 1500mm deep. Cantilever beams are connected to the column with the corbel by cast-in place concrete. Bonded post-tensioning tendons were assembled at the job site. Dead-end anchorages were installed in the end of cantilever beams and live-end anchorage is the opposite of them. This article presents the geometric layouts, design features and so on.

PSC box girder is widely used in a domestic bridge and overpass, etc., therefore, the design and construction technique for the PSC box girder is developing day by day. Even if it were so, however, the design for anchorage zone in PSC box girder has depended on common sense and empirical results. And it is the current situation that the designer has difficulty due to inadequacy of provisions in the domestic design code and lack of understanding for behavior of anchorage zone. Besides, the design based on Leonhardt's method is being done in general, but the design may be various even for the same structure because of the difference in a way of applying. In this paper, therefore, anchorage zone in PSC box girder bridge is analyzed and designed by using strut-tie model. Adequacy for the application of strut-tie model is verified by comparison with the way used in current design practice, and this study presents that strut-tie model can be a rational and an economical design than current design methods.

It is common in multistory flat-plate structures that newly cast slabs are supported by a number of previously cast floors. Then the weight of newly cast slabs is imposed on shored previously cast floors as load, and this load may be large as double as dead load. Because early-age construction loads cause large immediate deflection and creep deflection with cracks, this loads influence long-term behavior of slabs. In current provision, the minimum thickness is required to satisfy serviceability But this minimum thickness based on historical precedent is determined by span length, therefore the minimum thickness of current provision can not includes properly the effect of construction scheme including the number of shored floors and construction cycle. In the present study, a minimum thickness criterion, which includes the effect of concrete strength, geometry of slabs and construction scheme, was developed from computer-based iteration using deflection calculation procedure of current code method.

The deterioration of RC deck slabs has been a serious problem and high portion of budget has been a spent for repair and strengthening of deck slab. The concrete deck slabs are subject to direct application of vehicle loading and accumulation of fatigue damage. Besides, various environmental causes. In this paper, an probabilistic study is carried out to predict exact load effects and structural capacity of deck slab during its service life, and estimate an appropriate remaining life of deck slab. To achieve this purpose the live load model is developed using by influence line including deterioration of deck slab, and deterioration model of bridge deck slab is developed. In addition, the fatigue life of reinforced concrete deck slabs considering corrosion of reinforcement are estimated based on experimental formula. This study will help rational decisions for the management and repair of reinforced concrete deck slabs.

FRP-concrete composite slab is consisted of brittle materials and then shows brittle failure mechanism. This study suggests a new design approach that FRP-concrete composite slab leads to ductile failure, and investigates their failure behaviors for two types of section by numerical analysis. Box-type section is higher than I-type section in load capacity to required FRP quantity. Each section was designed so that the strain of FRP plate is 50% to its ultimate strain on initiation of concrete crushing, and it is verified that displacement ductility is more than two. Ductility capacity can be improved by reducing the strain of FRP on initiation of concrete crushing, but as the strain of FRP is reduced load capacity to required FRP quantity is also reduced. Therefore section optimization study is needed considering safety and economical efficiency.

In the previous study, authors presented the I-ProConS (Intelligent PREdiction system of CONcrete Strength) using artificial neural networks (ANN) that provides in-place strength information of the concrete to facilitate concrete form removal and scheduling for construction. The serious problem of the system has occured, which it cannot appropriately predict the concrete strength when the curing temperature of a curing day is changed. This is because it uses the single neural networks, which all nodes are fully connected, and thus it cannot smoothly respond for external impact. However this paper presents that the problem can be solved by multiple neural networks, which is composed of five ANNs.

Major deterioration in concrete structures are salt attack and carbonation. Especially severe problems due to carbonation occur in tile concrete structures of city, tunnel, underground structures. Cracks in concrete during service life including early age due to hydration heat and/or shrinkage accelerate the diffusion of concrete so that the deterioration is also accelerated. In this study, carbonation depths of both non-cracked concrete and cracked concrete are evaluated and weight change test and TGA are carried out. Through the tests, a relation between water-cement ratio and carbonation depth is derived and also carbonation increase rate is derived in the function of crack width.

Concrete cooled to very low temperature cyclically is deteriorated by ice formation in micro-pores. Although the factors to the deterioration are various, storage at very low temperature is mentioned as one of the factors. In practice, storage of cryogenic structure is kept at very low temperatures, and as such, it is important to take into consideration the influence of storage at such low temperature on the deterioration of concrete. Thus, in this study, the influence of storage on the deterioration of concrete at minimum temperatures taking into consideration the different W/C and air content.

There are various methods for the electrochemical techniques to estimate diffusion coefficient of chloride ions in concrete, such as ASTM C 1202 test method, Andrade's method, Dhir's method, Tang's method, and etc. In the case of estimating diffusion coefficient of chloride ions in concrete by using these methods, applied voltage and resistivity nay exercise some influence on the characteristics of chloride ions diffusion. Thus. in this study, effect of applied voltage and resistivity on the characteristics of chloride ions diffusion in concrete were researched by applying voltage in 12V, 30V, and 60V, and by using resistivity in 0.2Ω and 1.0Ω, respectively. It can be concluded that diffusion coefficient of chloride ions are found to be increasing as the individual applied voltage and resistivity decrease, when water-cement ratio is constant.

This study focused on the investigation of durability of latex modified concrete in the points of surface scaling resistance as cement types variated and latex content variated such as 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. An increasing the amount of latex produced concrete with increased flexural strength, but with slightly lower compressive strength. The increase in flexural strength might be attributed to the latex films between the hydrated cement and aggregates, and the decrease in compressive strength to the flexibility of the latex component named by Butadiene. The surface scaling resistance test was used to evaluate the durability of latex-modified concretes and rapid setting latex-modified concretes. The surface scaling resistance of LMC was quite good comparing to conventional concrete. Further, surface scaling resistance of RSLMC was improved with increasing the latex content.

In this study, methyl methacrylate (MMA)- modified polyester polymer concrete, in which the MMA was added to the unsaturated polyester resin, was developed for improving the early-age strength and the workability of the conventional polymer concrete, binder of which was the unsaturated polyester resin. Then the fundamental properties of the polymer concrete such as workability and strength were surveyed. The experimental results showed that the workability was remarkably improved as the MMA contents increased, and the filler-binder ratio was turned out to be important factor for the workability. Slump prediction equation was derived by the regression analysis based on MMA content and filler-binder ratio. Furthermore, early-age strength was greater when the MMA content were increased in the range of 20-40 % but the strength rather showed a tendency of decrease when the MMA content was 50 %.

Sandwich panel made by foamed styrene and ployuretane has been used generally in the construction area because of the high thermal conductivity and light weight but they occur harmful gases to both bodies and environments in the high temperature over
$50^{\circ}C$ . So, the purpose of this study is to investigate the physical properties of light-weight panel using the non-structural lightweight aggregate as a part of the substitution of foamed styrene and ployuretane. This paper dealt with the effect of the addition of polymer dispersion such as SBR, St/BA-1 and St/BA-2 having polymer-cement ratio as 5, 10, 15% and the filling ratio of continuous void as 50, 60% on the strength of polymer-modified sandwich panel core. From the results, we could know that the compressive and flexural strength of the sandwich panel core using non-structural lightweight aggregate and polymer dispersion such as SBR, St/BA-1 and St/BA-2 tended to be increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio and the filling ratio of continuous void. -

The relationship is investigated between material modeling of concrete and the evaluation procedure of thermal stress by the hydration heat. In this respect, some important points are suggested to which special attention should be paid to reasonably evaluate the thermal stress using the widely-used structural analysis programs. This study indicates that proper material model should be used to draw incremental stress evaluation that takes into account the change of elastic modulus with time. Some correction techniques are also presented when using the program that don't have proper built-in procedure for the calculation of the thermal stress.

Recently. the properties of early-age concrete are increasingly important because these properties directly influence the behavior of early-age concrete structures including stress and cracking behavior. Nevertheless, the studies on early-age concrete are limited to strength and temperature development. The purpose of present study is to propose a simple and rational method which can predict the stress and strain behavior of young age concrete. A series of test have been done to measure the temperature development, strains and stresses in concrete members. The concept of equivalent age was used to define the degree of hydration and this degree of hydration was used to calculate the strength and elastic modulus. The present study indicates that the calculated stresses correlate fairly well with measured stresses. The consideration of critical degree of hydration in calculating stresses gives more accurate results. The present study provides useful method and data in evaluating early-age behavior of concrete structure.

This study is designed to reduction of hydration heat of 4 layer division-placed mass concrete considering the difference of setting time of super retarding agent. According to the results, peak temperature of plain concrete by hydration heat show
$63^{\circ}C$ around the age of 1 days. Hydration heat is lowest in the bottom layer, and highest in the middle of 3rd layer from the bottom. Hydration heat of mock up structure, which is division-placed at the same interval of 1 and 2 days by setting time difference of super retarding agent, is highest in the bottom layer because after peak temperature of 4th layer, hydration reaction progresses in order of 3rd, 2nd and 1st layer. But in mock up structure which is division-placed at the various interval. peak temperature by hydration heat is reduced by about$13^{\circ}C$ , compared with plain concrete because after first peak hydration heat of 4th layer (plain concrete), hydration reaction progresses after the drop of hydration heat in order of 3rd, 2nd and 1st layer. -

A series of test have been done to measure the temperature development, strains and stresses in concrete members. The concept of equivalent age was used to define the degree of hydration and this degree of hydration was used to calculate the strength and elastic modulus. The critical degree of hydration and thermal expansion coefficient were calculated using experimental data. It is seen that the critical degree of hydration range from 0.05 to 0.11 based on the measuring method. The thermal expansion coefficient was calculated based on the measured non-mechanical strain and it is found that the coefficient decreases slightly with the increase of age. The consideration of critical degree of hydration in calculating stresses gives more accurate results. The present study provides useful method and data in evaluating early-age behavior of concrete structure.

The problem of the crack which occures from the reinforced concrete structure could be caused by the complexed factors. When the crack happen, it caused fatal blemish to manage and maintain the structure such as structural problem, licking, spalling, viewing Even though they study and work hard to solve this kind of problem in the world, there are no countermeasure for perfect prevention of crack. After the crack checked out, a method of repair-reinforcement has been studied and operated actively, Generally, occurance of the crack in the concrete structure could be taken as granted, no need to mention the damage from the crack, domestic construction try to hide it rather than repair basically, In many cases the construction amount for repairing the crack has to be made in the construction area and the amount is very expensive. To save the repaing fee, companys repair it under the meeting of their desire. it can be expected for the effection of the construction. For this reason, we compare a new injection method to solve the demerits of the present method, to save and use the merit of the present method.
