Recently, as to destruction and renovation of aged building, waste concretes have been reclaimed near foreshore and filled up underground. Recycling demolished concrete as aggregate helps to settle economic and environmental problems of obtaining superior aggregates from natural sources and to dispose waste concretes. An experimental study was carried out to investigate the strength characteristics of no-fine concrete containing recycled aggregates. The cement-aggregate weight ratios of 1: 5, 1: 6, 1: 7 and water-cement ratios of 30, 35, 40, 45% were chosen for the mix design of no-fine concretes. The compressive and splitting tensile strength at 7 and 28 days were measured for 12 different mixes. On the basis of test results, the optimum mix proportion of no-fine concrete containing recycled aggregates was determined and applied to the production of retaining wall block.

This study was carried out to investigate quantitatively the relationship between the water binder ratio and the concrete strength using finely ground granulated furnace blast slag. In the experiment, the compressive strength and elastic modulus of concrete which slag contents are 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% at 7days and 28days age. As a result, the compressive strength have a high correlation with slag contents and water binder ratio. Thus, it is possible to calculate the water binder ratio using compressive strength of concrete contented with slag.

Experimental investigation was undertaken to determine early-age strength development and the relationships between the mechanical properties of type I, V and V/fly ash cement concrete with different curing temperature. The tests for mechanical properties, i.e., compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and modulus of elasticity were carried out for type, I, V and V with 15% replacement with fly ash cement concrete. For this purpose 480 concrete cylinders cured at isothermal conditions of 10, 23, 35 and 5
$0^{\circ}C$ were tested at ages of 1, 3, 7 and 28days. According to the experiments, the concrete subjected to high temperature at early age got greater strength at early age, however eventually lower strength at late age. The derived relationships between compressive strength and splitting tensile strength and elastic modulus of elasticity appeared to be identical for all types of cement. -
The purpose of this study to fine the mixture of concrete for Top-Down method. As a result, In fresh concrete, slump value and slump-flow value were increased as fly ash concrete(10% ratio). When plasticizer was added 1.5% by weigh of binder in concrete, no fly ash concrete and fly ash concrete(10% ratio) all occurred segregation. And, no fly ash concrete and fly concrete(10% ratio) all showed compressive strength development close plain concrete as increasing plasticizer quantity. Especially, in case of 1.5% plasticizer of binder showed high compressive strength development.

Recently, it has been increased to construct massive concrete structures, like under-ground structure, offshore structure etc., ie. concrete construction have become larger and higher and are demanding lower heat concrete to prevent thermal cracking. It has been progressed to replace cements with fly-ash and slag to lower heat of hydration, but it is hard to control quality of the mineral admixtures in stage of adjusting of real construction. Application of low heat portland(Belite Rich) cement for the mass concrete is the best solution to satisfied those requirements. Here are explained the basic properties of fresh concrete as well as hardened concrete of using low heat portland cement(LHPC). Also, we compare the results of adiabatic temperature rise test using LHPC and OPC.

Recently, underwater concrete constructions are increasing. Therefore it is considered important to control the quality of underwater concrete. In this paper, we have an intention of evaluating fundamental properties of underwater concrete using the Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBF Slag). Thus, it has been investigated that the slump flow of the concrete, pH value and suspended solids in solution, compressive strength on both of specimens made above and below water. Also the percentage of GGBF Slag was found to alter the filling-up in underwater concrete.

The purpose of this study is to use paper sludge ash as a material in manufacturing high strength admixture. The reactivity of paper sludge ash as iteself is low for the crystallized non-reactive
$SiO_2$ , but when the$SiO_2$ was removed, the phase component is mainly composed of glass phase which could react with cement hydrates. In this study, we manufactured high strength admixture using separated paper sludge ash, and examined the strength of mortar, spun concrete with and without this high strength admixture in steam curing. The strength of spun concrete with high strength admixture including paper sludge ash was more higher than that of spun concrete without admixture. As a result, it was found that paper sludge ash could be used to a pozzolanic material in manufacturing high strength admixture. -
Fluidity retention of concrete used high range water reducing AE agent(HWAE) is varied according to type, dosage amount and dosing method of HWAE. The type and substitution ratio of mineral admixture also have influence on the fluidity retention of concrete using HWAE. For the purpose of improving the fluidity retention in concrete used HWAE, 3 types of HWAE and ground granulated blast furnace slag(SG) are applied in cement-based composites such as cement paste, mortar and concrete respectively. According to using the HWAE of naphthalene sulfonates and SG, the fluidity retention of mortar and concerete is improving the fluidity retention and strength of concrete regardless of type of HWAE.

A study is carried out to investigate the characteristics of concrete various level(0~60%) of fly ash. These results indicate that compressive strength of fly ash concrete seems to be slightly higher than that of ordinary concrete between 7 and 28 days, thereafter the strength of fly ash concrete is significantly higher. In fresh properties of the fly ash concrete, the loss of slump and air content with time up to 120 minutes is lower, but the setting time is increased with increasing fly ash content.

The purpose of this was to examine the used of fly ash as a type of construction material. In this paper the results from a recent study on development of a cement composite utilizing relatively large amount of fly ash are presented. The flowable fly ash-cement sand composite was investigated for strength and flowability characteristics. The independent variable considered were: fly-ash content, sand content, and ratio of water to cementitious materials. Results of this study show that high volume fly-ash composite can be proportioned to obtain 10~15kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ compressive strength at 28 days. For applications requiring strength between 10kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 15kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ , the mixture with fly ash-cement ratio of 5.6 and sand-cement ratio of 28 with relatively high water content may be used. Slump was held at 25$\pm$ 1cm for all mixtures produced compressive strength at 28 days were found to range from 5kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 13.7kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ . -
Most previous wave tests for concrete have been done to evaluate static material properties, and thus there are less works to investigate dynamic material characteristics of concrete, which should be few in Korea. The objective of this experimental work is to investigate dynamic material characteristics of concrete, such as dynamic elastic modulus, dynamic shear modulus, first resonant frequency, dynamic poisson's ratio and etc. A dynamic Signal Analyzer has been used to perform the wave analysis for various dynamic material properties of test specimen. First Fourier transform technique has been carried out on various wave data acquired by the Resonant Column method, which is a kind of nondestructive tests. Wave analysis has been performed based on KS F2437, which is similar to ASTM C607-71 and is identical to JIS A 1127-1976.

The purpose of this study is to find mechanical properties of fly ash ratio in mortar as flowing, setting time, compressive strength, suction ratio of water, length change ratio. As a result, it was shown that proper fly ash ratio replaced by cement weight in mortar was generally positive effect to flowing, compressive strength suction ratio of water, length change ratio. So if fly ash is well done quality control is considered as good replacement of cement.

The purpose of this study is to offer basic information of fly ash concrete for field application. Through before study and fly ash in mortar, various properties as fly ash ratio in concrete were checked according to the experimental result, slump was increased and entrained air quantity was decreased as fly ash ratio is increased in fresh concrete. In hardened concrete, strength development of plain concrete(W/B 50%) was slower than water-reduced concrete(W/B 40%) at early age. Especially water-reduced concrete was remarkabily faster than no fly ash in concrete. Moduls of stastic elasticity and stress-strain relationship of fly ash in concrete nearly were effect on no fly ash concrete.

This study is intended to devolop the self waterproof agents for high performance concrete by analyzing the properties of fresh and hardened mortar with various addition ratios of the inorganic admixture and zinc stearate. As the results of the test, the flow and air content increase with the addition of expansive additives. When the replacement rate of silica fume increases, the flow decreases for the increased viscidity. And the flow and sir content decrease with the addition of zinc stearate. At hardened state, the compressive strength, tensile strength and flexual strength decrease with the addition of expansive additives and zinc stearate. With the increase of silica fume's replacement, they show a little decrease at early age and then increase gradually. Also, absorption and permeability show a steep decrease when zinc stearate is added, and a slack decrease with the replacement of silica fume.

A Study on the Expansive Properties With Particle Size Distribution of Expansive Additives in MortarConcrete structures is appeared the shrinkage after being harden of the hydration effect of cement. To overcome this disadvantage, expansive additives are used. In our country, the most popular expansive additives are hauyne(CSA) or free lime(free-CaO) systems. These expansive additives are used to expansive cement mortar or concrete materials. In this study, we analyzed the expansive property mechanism about the hydration reaction of the free lime systems and in particular we convinced size distributions of the free lime size affect the expansion ratio with expansion ratio with experiments. We carried out the experiment for the expansive properties by using the soundness molds and with various the humidity and dry setting conditions. The hydration reactions of the free lime affect the reaction properties according to the relative humidity by laboratory experiments.

KS F 4419, which is dealt with the Inter-Locking block, states that water to cement ratio for manufacturing inter-locking block should be less than 25% and in KS F4419, the use of admixture is shown to be reluctant to recommend. In this paper, reinvestigation of some regulations in KS F 4419 are carried out. According to the experimental results, as W/C increases, flexural strength and compressive strength are tended to decrease, whereas they increases within certain range, Flexural strength and compressive strength have higher values in 1:2(W/C=35%), 1:4(W/C=45%) and 1:6(W/C=55%) of mix proportions. Moreover they have rather higher values with the containment of high range AE water-reducing agent. The absorption ratios decrease with the increase of W/C and the containment of high range AE water-reducing agent. Therefore, the regulations on the W/C and admixture in KS F 4419 reguire revision.

The concrete structures designed and constructed by conventional design concept based on structural performance consideration show sometimes serious durability problem when the structures are exposed to aggressive environment. Because present design system focuses on the structure safety and considers durability indirectly by the concrete mix design and cover depth, the durability of concrete structure cannot be ensured. As the first step to develope the durability design for concrete structure, durability index which represents internal concrete resistance and environment index which represents external environmental exposure are derived quantitatively. In the next step, the durability design system is developed by checking durability limit state with computed two indexes under service life condition by considering of the reliability of structure. Finally, the proposed system is verified with a model problem.

The permeability of concrete influences the durability of concrete remarkably. This paper describes a programme of permeability tests carried out to determine the differences between permeability coefficients derived using water, oxygen and chloride ions. Tests have been carried out on three concretes having water/cement ratios of 0.45, 0.55, 0.65 to measure their water, chloride-ion and gas permeability coefficients. The test results indicate that the permeability of concrete increase with the increase water cement ratios. The water and gas permeability coefficients is presented from
$1.43 and from$\times$ 10^{-10} to 19.01$\times$ 10^{-10}m/s$$0.88 to$\times$ 10^{-10}$$1.59 m$\times$ 10^{-10}$$^2$ for concrete of different water cement ratios. The current intensity passing through the concrete is presented from 4504 to 4920 C. -
Corrosion of steel reinforcement is the most significant factor of deterioration in reinforced concrete structures. Chloride ion is considered one of the most common culprits on the corrosion of steels in concrete. The main objective of this study is understanding behavior of chloride ion in hardened cement pastes at different stages of curing. Cement pastes with water-cement ratio of 0.5 are allowed to hydrate in sealed containers for 28, 70, 180 days. And than pore solution is expressed. It was found that the
$Cl^-$ concentrations in pore solution is decreased with increasing curing time in all Nacl addition level, the$OH^-$ concentrations is increased to 70 days but decrease at 180 days in all Nacl addition level. The$Cl^-$ /$OH^-$ in pore solution is increased with increasing curing time in all Nacl addition level, however$Cl^-$ /$OH^-$ of maximum Nacl addition level(Nacl 0.54% by weight of cement) is under the onset of depassivation level 0.3. -
Under concentrational paste and dilute suspension systems, we have been tested the effects in the dosage of two superplasticizers [naphtalenic(NSF) and polycarboxylic(NT-2)] which has been varied from 0 to 2.0 wt%, in both one case of cement Ⅱ-anhydrite and fly ash itself and the other case that cement has been substituted 10wt% to Ⅱ-anhydrite and fly ash. The result of tested zeta potential tells that zeta potential values increase in addition to increasing of the NSF dosage. And it's effect was high in case of fly ash. We has confirmed the 10wt% substitution of Ⅱ -anhydrite and fly ash would be more effective than the cement itself in initial fluidity and stable fluidity. And in case of NT-2 and NSF, addition of 1.0wt% NT-2 improved the fluidity of paste cement more than that for NSF.

The corrosion of steel reinforcements in concrete is of much concern in recent years. The mechanism of corrosion, however, is not clear yet. This study is focused on the corrosion of steel induced by internal chlorides in concrete at early ages. To examine the critical concentration of steel, half-cell potential, chemical composition of expressed pore solutions of mortars and rate of corrosion area were observed with respect to additions of chlorides, types of binders, water-binders ratio.

In reinforced concrete carbonation of concrete leads to depassivation of the reinforcement, and hence to initiation of corrosion. As a result of carbonation accelerating experiment with using effect of wet-dry cycle and 15% concentration of CO ₂, the carbonation rate shows very distinct difference according to W/C ratio. OPC-40 estimated no carbonation depth, whereas OPC-60 estimated rapidly the carbonation rate. The comparative analysis of the carbonation rate accelerating depends on different kinds of cement shows fastest FAC-20. Also, highly W/C ratio's concrete shows low half-cell potential value and fast corrosion rate. During period for 14 weeks. corrosion rate was not severe. So, it can be concluded that only carbonation attack on concrete doesn't severly deteriorated except very poor qualitified concrete.

Recently it has become general to use the inhibitor with a view to protecting corrosion of rebars in concrete. So, it needs to study effect of protection and reasonable dosage of inhibitor to reduce corrosion of rebar in concrete containing chlorides. In this study, we estimate the corrosion rate of rebar in mortar by Tafel extrapolation method, one of electrochemical techniques, and the reasonable dosage of inhibitor for different chlorides environments.

Recently the shortage of good aggregate has encouraged the use of sea sand in construction field, and the corrosion damage of the reinforced steel in concrete structures has been increased due to chlorides from sea sand and deicing salt. Therefore, a number of researchs are proceeding to prevent the corrosion of the reinforced steel in concrete, especially in marine environments. This study focused on the effect of corrosion inhibitors to evaluate protection characteristics for mortar specimens containing clorides. Corrosion behaviors have been investigated by half-cell potential measurement, linear polarization method, AC impedance method, and cyclic polarization test after immersing in sea water for 7 years. A possitive effect of a corrosion inhibitor has been obtained.

In these days, mostof marine structures are constructed by reinforcement concrete due to economic reason. Theoretically, it is widely recognized that rebar in sound concrete is safe against corrosion because of the high alkalinity of concrete. However, corrosion for reinforcement concrete made by marine aggregate and exposed to ocean enviroments has become serious social problem. Especially in Korea, with the rapid economic growth construction activities have been accelerated and needed more natural aggregate. Therefore, inevitably marine aggregate had to be used due to limitation of good quality aggregate. In this study, as a part of efforts to establish the fundamental counterplan on corrosion problems related to marine aggregate, concrete specimens with chloride containing material and inhibitor have been studied. And, in order to analyze corrosion characteristics several electrochemical techniques including half-cell potential survery, linear and cyclic polarization tests were carried out.

This study is to investigate on the remaining life of reinforced concrete apartment by using the probability of a reinforcing-steel corrosion and the carbonation tendency of domestic reinforced concrete apartments by using the statistic method. The results are as follow. ·To compare with the carbonation velocity of Kishitani's formula (x=3.727{{{{ SQRT { t} }}) when water-cement ratio is w=0.6, R=1, it is founded out that the carbonation velocity is slow a little in all area investigated and inland area, and fast a bit in coastal area. ·In the influencing factors in regard to the probability of reinforcing-steel corrosion, It seems that the influence of elapsed time is more effective than that of region. Therefore, it is necessary that it makes sure of the cover depth under apartment construction in recent so far as the durability is considered.
