This research is to examine the relationships between viscosity and fluidity according to binders in the super flowing concrete. And this research is described with respect to rheology concept, confined water ratio(
$\beta_p$ ) of binders in paste and mortar, also investigated experimentally the relationships between the relative flowing ratio ($\Gamma_m$ ) and the funneling velocity ratio($R_m$ ) on the mortar state according to the water binder ratio(W/B) and the dosage of the superplasticizer. From the confined water ratio tests, it is found that$\beta_p$ of the class C fly ash is higher than that of the class F fly and limestone in paste and mortar, therefore class F fly ash and limestone and super flowing concrete. The result of test, the optimum mix condition to the compactibility if satisfied when the replacement ratio is 30% and$K_p$ is 0.8 for the case of fly ash and limestone. -
In this paper, we described the basic elements(flowabiligy, fillingability, elapsed time, pumpability, no-vibrating effects, and etc.) required for the application and quality control of the super flowing concrete(SFC) in Top Down site. Also, manufactured sand and fly ash were used for investigating characteristics of SFC through various experiments(mix design, optimum mix condition) before placing the concrete in site. As a result of this project, the developed SFC shown high flowability and self-fillingability in the joint good enough for the requirement. Futhermore, inner uniformity of the no-vibrated concrete was verified by testing reformed space. Therefore, quality control and compressive strength(360kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ ) can be secured by using SFC even without vibrating. -
In this paper, the properties of high performance concrete with fly ash and expansive additives are investigated. According to the experimental results, when 10% of fly ash and 5% of expansive additives are mixed in concrete mixture, the improvement of the quality in the side of the fluidity, strength and the prevent of the crack caused by drying-shringkage can be accomplished.
-
This study is investigate the properties of high performance concrete at W/B of 35%, used with silica fume and CSA expansive additives, which is used to improve the concrete qualities and prevent the drying-shrinkage. According to the results, the fluidity of concrete shows a decline with the increase of replacement percentage of silica fume and proportions of expansive additives. A higher strength is obtained at 5% of replacement percentage of silica fume, while the compensation achieves in drying-shrinkage of concrete at 5% of expansive additives.
-
In this paper, the compensation of the shrinkage in high performance concrete by applying CSA expansive additives are discussed. According to toe experimental results, fluidity and strength decrease with the increase of the dosage of expansive additives. When 5% of expansive additive are mixed, not only high fluidity and strength, but also the compensation of drying-shrinkage can be achieved.

Generally, the base concrete for manufacturing the flowing concrete has to increase the fine aggregate content or adjust the fines content prevent the concrete from segeration, However, it may not only increase the cost, but cause the inconvenience in production of base concrete. In this paper, the experiments is performed on the superplasticizer which is used for base concrete by mixing viscosity agents and AE admixtures. According to the results, it shows that it is possible to manufacture a flowing, non segregation, high durability and economical concrete in the field without increasing the fine aggregate content of base concrete, when the superplasticizer are mixed with viscosity agents and AE admixtures in an appropriate proportion.

The objective of this study is development of high strength lightweight concrete and application or structural use. For this, mix proportions for each strength level were selected from lab tests, and adapted to producing ready-mixed concrete in batcher plant. It was very important to prewet the lightweight aggregates sufficiently for producibility and also workability. Splitting tensile strength of high-strength lightweight concrete produced has lower values than that of normal weight concrete, but modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity are not less than normal weight concrete. The strength reduction factor (
$\lambda$ ) for sand-lightweight concrete make higher than 0.85 present in structures using high-strength lightweight concrete. And it was showed that not parabola distribution but triangular distribution of stress in compression zone. -

As the waste concrete is increased by demolition according to the plan of city-reconstruction and preperation of city-environment etc, the production of waste concrete in the country is being very increased every years. Because the use of recycled aggregate is low, the cases of unlawful reclamation and disuse are increased. These occur the social and economic problems. This experimental study is to investigate the fluidity, compressive strength and durability of flowing recycled aggregate concrete using the river sand and recycled coarse aggregate according to the replacement rate of fly-ash and to present the fundamental data for the using of flowing recycled aggregate concrete.

The fluidity of high flowing concrete can be affected by numerous parameters which characterize either the cement of the admixture. The reactivity of a cement as determined by its chemical composition(especially its
$C_3$ A content), its fineness and its content in sulfates and alkalies obviously plays a key role in rheology of high flowing concrete in fresh state. Specific properties of high range water reducing AE agent used to enhance the workability of high flowing concrete also exert important influence. The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate and analyze the effect of cement and high range water reducing AE agent in fluidity, setting, compressive strength of high flowing concrete. As a result, we found that fluidity of high flowing concrete is affected greatly by kind of cement and high range water reducing AE agent, also, there is harmonic character between high belite cement and polycarbonic acid high range water reducing AE agent. -
Concrete has a many problems to apply high rise building of its low strength to weight and low ductility, compared to steel products. Therefore, it is necessary to make high strength concrete for applying to night rise building. In the experiment, the high strength concrete was made in variable of unit weight of binder, water to binder ratio(W/B), and sand to aggregate ratio(S/a) using batcher plant. As a result, it was possible to make high strength concrete using only materials for ordinary concrete without admixtures such like silica fume in batcher plant.

It was investigated to evaluate the characteristics of cement-flyash paste affected the replacement level, curing method and chemical admixtures. The strength of cement-flyash paste was lower than that of cement paste only and the differences increased with increasing the replacement level. However, in steam curing, the strength of cement-flyash pastes was improved and specially, the early strength was effectively increased. In order to improve the early strength, the use of
$Na_2SO_4$ in cement-flyash paste increased the quality of concrete. In addition, the strength of concrete including 30% of fly ash has improved and obtained the highest strength compared to other concrete mix. -
II-anhydrite, slag, and fly ash produced as industrial by-product were reutilized for the manufacture of high strength admixtures for cement and concrete. The effects of these admixtures on the compressive strength of cement mortar and concrete were examined with those of domestic admixture. At the condition mortar and concrete. Especially, adding of II-anhydrite was very effective for the increasing of compressive strength. Therefore it is possible that these admixture as a high strength admixture apply to cement and concrete.
-
In order to enlarge effection use as well as to use as a cheafut raw material for high-strength concrete admixture, we manufactured high strength admixture by using various industrial by-products and then applied to 2nd concrete pro when concrete was added MSS, strength of concrete was promoted and had a excellent property than domestic D admixture. This result could be explained that adding of MSS accelerated the famat of ettringite(
$C_3A$ ,$3CaSO_4$ ,$32H_2O$ ) like needle crystal in steam curing a also promoted to cement solidification and shorten high pre-strength display. As a result of, strength of concrete added MSS pretented, above 850kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in 7 days of long-period curing. -
Fly ash is glassy dust collected from coal fired power plant. Recently, much research for fly ash conducted in Korea and fly ash is a valuable material especially when it used in high strength, high flowable, high durability concrete. But it varies with coal source, coal grinding and boiler conditions. Therefore, it is important that quality control of fly ash itself to get high quality concrete. In this study, over 20 samples of Poryong and Samchonpo fly ashs are tested and analyzed. The physical, chemical properties of fly ash and their relationships are investigated and it can be applied to quality control of concrete.

In this paper, the properties of inter-locking block using fly ash are investigated. The experimental parameters are the replacement ratio of fly ash, the amount of AE water-reducing agent and mixing porpotion of mortar. According to the experimental results, the improvement of quality in the side of strength, absorption ratio and freeze-thaw resistance for manufacturing inter-locking block and the curtailment of cost can be achieved in case of 15% of fly ash and 0.3% of AE water-reducing agent are mixed into mortar mixture of 1:6(C:S).

The propose of this study is to examine the mechanical properties of mortar using ground granulated blast-furnace(GGBF) slag. In this study, the mortar replaced by varying fineness and content of GGBF slag is investigated through the change of compressive strength, chemical resistance and weight loss. As the result, it has been found that GGBF slag increase somewhat higher flow value and compressive strength. In addition, the chemical resistance of motar using GGBF slag shows higher flow that of motar not containing GGBF slag.

Concrete structures has been deteriorated by the freezing and thawing due to temperature gap. This study was conducted to evaluate durabilite of concrete which are increasingly demanded recently. Therefore the research of durability must be executed for application of waste foundry sand concrete real structures. Concrete durability must be executed for application of waste foundry sand concrete real structures. Concrete durability properties incorporating waste foundry sand was performed with the variable of W/C ratio, Sand/Waste foundry sand ratio and Air entrainment-Non air entrainment. Cylinder specimens were made and subjected to freezing and thawing cycle at
$-18^{\cire}C$ and$4^{\cire}C$ . Dynamic modulus of elasticity were evaluated as F/T cycle increase. The results show that strength of concrete is increased the W/C ratio decrease, the Sand/Waste foundry sand ratio increase when the concrete contains AE agent and decreasing WC ratio and AE concrete makes improved resistance of freezing and thawing improved. Especially, resistance of freezing and thawing is improved by Fine aggregate/Waste foundry sand ratio which is 50%, 25%, 0% in a row. Therefore it is turn out the waste foundry sand could be applied to concrete from the experiment. -
Currently the study on the effective use of the fly ash is concentrated as construction materials, which is by product of electric power generating plants. Fly ash, therefore, can be used as concrete admixture for the purpose of not only increasing the concrete quality but also of utilizing materials. Within the country it is not easy to use fly ash for the construction purpose because the properties of fly ash are varied due to the use of different raw ores in the various power plants. And little previous construction experiments and the basic experiments about the formation of bubbles are performed. In this study the water-cement ratio is varied in 3 different values and compressive strength is measured and freeze-thaw experiments are preformed to establish the relationships between water-cement ratios and the durability. And also for each batch of different water-cement ratio fly ash is substituted 10%, 20% and 30% of cement and concrete mixture the admixture and the formation of bubbles and also freeze-thaw resistance.

In this study, lightweight aggregates were developed to see the possible application as a structural uses. For the evaluation purpose, several testings were conducted to compare the physical characteristics between the controlled lightweight aggregates and other lightweight aggregates purchased from different sources. The tests included property changes of fresh concrete and strength characteristics of hardened concrete for both normal and high strength ranges. In addition, a experiment was performed to analyze the freezing and thawing resistance of new lightweight aggregate concrete against other lightweight aggregate concrete against other lightweight aggregate concretes with some experimental parameters such as lightweight aggregates, curing conditions, and water-cement ratio. The test showed that the new lightweight aggregate could be used structural components. Continuous study will be planned for future evaluations.

An entrained air is important in improving freeze/thaw resistance to the concrete structures. To achieve a proper degree of air entrainment, air entraining admixtures(AEA) are typically added to the concrete mixture, but it has been noted that an increase in the carbon content(LOI) of fly ash causes problems in proper air entrainment in concrete. In this study, the entrained air content of mortar with fly ash as an additive was considered according to the mix design as a type of AEA, adding amount of fly ash and AEA, and the elapsed time. Moreover, two different types of measurement were also tired for air content.

In the present study, we have developed high strength concrete which is adequate for the long span PC beam above 40 meters. We have selected the most adequate materials for high strength concrete through laboratory tests and in-situ mock-up applications. We verified and decided the best curing condition of high strength concrete, and suggests the optimum mix design of high strength concrete. In the future, we will verify the properties-fresh and hardened concrete- of high strength concrete and its serviceability, and also apply the high strength concrete to newly-constructed real bridge structure.

This study is to investigate the application of concrete with crushed sand on site. As a result, it is showed that the combined sand mixed with sea sand is very desirable for obtaining workability and strength of concrete, and the optimal replacement percentage of crushed sand is 50% with sea sand. After all, the crushed sand could be sufficiently used as a fine aggregate for concrete in the aspect of economical efficiency and quality, but the particle shape and microsand passing No.200 sieve should be firstly improved for increasing workability of concrete on site.

In this study, the estimation method of adiabatic temperature rise of concrete was developed by using hydration heat generation of mineral compounds of clinker and pozzolans. Specific heat considered the effects of mix proportion and temperature was calculated with experimental data. The adiabatic temperature rise calculated by developed method were compared with experiments in which many types of cement and admixtures were used. As the results of this study, it was found that the developed method could calculate adiabatic temperature rise of concrete accurately without the experiment.

As construction technology advances, most of concrete structures are becoming larger and taller. Therefore, high strength and high quality concrete is necessary for them. Nowadays, the proposal of using belite rich cement is investigated to satisfy high flowing, low heat, and high strength. In this study, the height difference, the falling time and the maximum temperature of concrete using BRC were lower than that of concrete using OPC. Furthermore the compressive strength of concrete using BRC with and without compacting was not different. And the compressive strength of core specimens was higher than that of specimens in water curing. Compared to OPC, there was a good relationship between the curing temperature and the development of strength in BRC.
-
Recently, the Belite cement having the high fluidity, high strength, and low heat properties, was developed, and is being promoted the efforts for application on the real structures. Accordingly, for the purpose of practical use of high strength concrete using the Belite cement, was carried out the performance evaluation experiments about the structural members(column, beam, column-beam joint, steel bond strength etc.). Specimens were made in three types of concrete(Belite:350, 600kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ , OPC:350kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ ) by taking into account the key parameters. In this paper, were summarized the comparative experimental results on the material properties and structural performance of Belite concrete. -
In this study, We compare material properties of Self-compacting concrete using Korean Belite cement with Japanese. Self-compacting concrete consolidates densely by virtue of its own weight at the location where concrete compaction cannot be carried out. Material properties of Korean and Japanese Belite cement are very similar but compatibility with superplasticizer and viscosity agent are some different. Before the batch mix, the compatibility must be checked as fresh concrete properties. For the concrete test results, Korean Beilite cement is suitable to product High performance concrete.

This paper deals with 28, 56, 91 days age compressive strength and ratio of weight when OPC and Low-Heat cement mortar immersed in chemical solution. As a result of experiment, the resistance of Low-Heat Cement motar in chemical attack is more effective than that of OPC, because of lower
$C_3$ A content and Pozzolanic reactions. Especially in long term age compressive strength, Low-Heat cement mortar shows higher strength in all kind of chemical solution compared with compressive strength of OPC motar. -
Recent construction method in mass concrete structures would depend on the control of hydration heats and thermal stresses by using the low heat cement, optimized block size and a lift height, or both. This experimental study aims at the possibility of thermal cracks according to the different types of cementations material and at the investigation of these effects. Four different types of cements are applied to the mock-up test and are evaluated in terms of temperature rises and thermal stresses with the use of thermocouples, strain gauges and effective stress gauges. As a result of this study, it was found that stresses measured from effective stress gauges agree well with ones form strain gauges, and the trend of stress occurrence can be well evaluated from theoretical analysis.
-
In this study, the change of concrete temperature, strain and thermal stress were measured by using the embedded type concrete gauges in tendon gallery wall of containment building. A finite element analysis was performed to clarify the thermal behavior of concrete. The analytic and test results were investigated to improve the validity of analytic method. According to the test results, concrete temperature, strain and thermal stress were strongly affected by measuring point and environment condition of member. And the thermal stress was developed in the member which was not demoulded at early ages. This is caused by the change of internal temperature and restrained condition. A finite element effectively interpreted the test results by estimating the concrete properties and the site condition.

To analysis the failure character of Low-Heat concrete which is used to prevent the thermal crack caused by hydration heat, static loading test was performed by this test method, "Determination of the Fracture Energy of Motar and Concrete by Means of Three-Point Band Tests on Notched Beam" (suggested by RILEM 50-FMC Committe). This study compared and analysised the fracture energy of Mode I (opening mode), the most general pattern in the view of water-cemente ratio(W/C), compressive strength and age of Ordinary Portland Concrete and Low-Heat Concrete under the same mixture. The test results show that the case of Ordinary Portland Concrete and Low-Heat Concrete, low Water-Cemente ratio(W/C) cause the increase of fracture energy, and high failure-strength decrease failure-deflection, and the fracture energy of Low-Heat Concrete is similar to Ordinary Portland Concrete as the age increase. increase.

The strength and dimension of recent constructed subway box structures are increased considerably. These increases are resulting in much initial cracks by hydration heat and thermal stress. According to previous studies, decrease of cement amount by using superplasticizer and L/H value is the best way to eliminate hydration heat and stress. The analyses using finite element model were performed. By the result of analysis, the use of superplasticizer and the decrease of the change of longitudinal placing length are proved to be more effective for elimination thermal cracks. By ACI Code, for longitudinal placing length 25 m, the amount of wall temperature reinforcement is always lack despite of concrete mix proportion. With analytical result and the inducing crack joint, the in-site test were performed and the analytical results proved to be effective. However, the inducing crack joint is not effective if it is a small size.

Parameter analysis of mass concrete structures of two types subjected to heat of hydration and surface heat transfer is presented. Thermal stress analysis is conducted through the 3D FEM program. Thermal and mechanical properties of concrete, for example, conductivity, heat capacity, density, thermal expansion coefficient are varied from 80% to 120% of a reference value, and the change of thermal stress against the parameter is achieved respectively. As a result of the analysis, the parameter affecting thermal stress most significantly is an adiabatic temperature rise in the case of wall-type structure, and an initial temperature of concrete in the case of slab-type structure, respectively.

This study describes examinations made for the purpose of obtaining data for strength control of mass concrete in the cold season. The examination in outline of analysis of temperatures of mass concrete(corresponding to member thickness of 1m) and comparisons with water-cured specimens of various concrete specimens cured in sealed condition. As a result, it was found that mass concrete placed in the cold season, if strength is controlled based on 28-day age, is seen to require a strength correction factor.

The void ratio, continuous void ratio, coefficient of permeability, compressive strength and tensile strength were considered according to the EAF(Electric Arc Furnace) slag replacement and sand percentage in permeable concrete used with EAF slag as aggregate. The sand percentage was directly proportional to the permeable coefficient, but inversely proportional to the compressive strength. When the compressive strength and coefficient of permeability were 230 kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 1$\times$ $10^{-1}$ cm/sec, the useful sand percentage was 8%. When the EAF slag replacement was 25%, the coefficient of permeability was the most low and compressive strength was the most high. -
In general, the drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powders is much higher than that of unmodified mortar. The purpose of this study is to reduce the drying shringkage of polymer-modified mortars using a redispersible poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) (EVA) powder, which is widely used for the manufacture of prepackaged-type polymer-modified mortar products at present. Polymer-modified mortars using the redispersible EVA powder with powdered shrinkage-reducing agent were prepared with various polymer-cement ratios and shrinkage-reducing agent contents, and tested for drying shrinkage and strength. From the test results, the drying shrinkage of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with a powdered shrinkage agent is remarkably reduced with increasing shrinkage-reducing agent content, and becomes approximately a half of that of the redispersible EVA powder-modified mortars with the same polymer-cement ratios and without the shrinkage-reducing agent at a shrinkage-reducing agent content of 6%.

Covering mortar as a filter for permeable polymer concrete is necessary for good permeability from filtration continuously. Therefore, this paper is intended as an evaluation of the mechanical properties and permeability of permeable polymer concrete covered with polymer mortar as a filter. An optimum permeable polymer concrete is selected in various mix proportions, and three different polymer mortars were cast immediately following on the casting of the base permeable polymer concrete. And they are tested for compressive and flexural strengths, adhesion in tension, hardening shrinkage and permeability . From the test results, binder and filler contents in mix proportions had a great influence on the permeability of polymer concretes. The mechanical properties of permeable polymer concretes covered with polymer mortars using crushed stone are superior to other filters, and hardening shrinkage is the smallest in filters. It is apparent that adhesion between the base permeable polymer concrete and polymer mortar is affected by the degree of hardening shrinkage. From this study, proper mix proportions can be recommended in the consideration of properties of the permeable polymer concrete.

This study was initiated to develop a precast polymer concrete production method and to describe an criterion for the optimum thickness of precast polymer concrete by a series of experiment and structural analysis. Nine specimens with different thickness and steel bar reinforcement were prepared and tested and analyzed with respect to structural behaviors. Cracking moment was mostly affected by the thickness but steel reinforcement seemed not to have effect on the moment. Data of the study could be widely applied in designing and planning of production processes of many polymer concrete products of which all or some of components are composed with thin panels.

As a part of the study on the development of augered pile method, this study is intended to investigate the properties of fresh and hardened mortar with the proportion of expansion additives. With the increase of proportion of expansion additives, the fluidity of mortar shows a decrease while air content increases and setting time gets retarded. It show the satisfactory property in strength at 5% of proportion, and shows more expansion with the increase of proportion of expansion additives and sand/cement ratio. In conclusion, both of strength and expansion reveal appropriate at 10% of proportion of expansion additives.
-
The purpose of this study is to present the reference data on the development of undispersed underwater mortar for augered pile under various replacement ratio of fly-ash. According to the experimental results, when 10% of fly-ash is mixed under mix proportion of 1:1.5(c:s), as strength and shrinkage decrease slightly, whereas fluidity increase, high quality mortar for augered pile can be achieve in case above condition is applied.

Recently, underwater concrete constructions are increasing. Therefore it is considered important to control the quality of underwater concrete. In this paper, we have an intention of evaluating fundamental properties of underwater concrete using the anti-washout admixtures. Thus, it has been investigated that the setting slump flow of the concrete, pH value and suspended solids in solution, compressive strength on both of specimens made above and under water. Also the percentage of fine aggregate has been found to alter the compressive strength in underwater concrete.
-
Recently, in the trend of using aggregate, it is common that coarse aggregate is replaced with crushed stone and fine aggregate is replaced with sea sand as a replacing aggregate. In this study, to judge the adaptability of using antiwashout underwater concrete, we used mixed sand (river sand : sea sand= 5 : 5) and changed W/C. After carrying out the research on the strength development of the compressive strength of specimen, tensile strength, fluxural strength which is produced and cured in the air and salt water, we founded that when W/C was low and the amount of AWA and SP were increased, the state of strength development was excellent.
-
In this study we changed W/C into 45, 50, 55, 60%, mixed sea sand which is often used as a replacing aggregate according to the lack of recourse with river sand in the ratio of 5:5 and producted antiwashout underwater concrete. We measured slump flow, air value, pH and suspension in the fresh concrete. After testing each W/C through unit weight and compressive strength of specimen which is produced and cured in the air and salt water it was founded that if sea sand was properly used after salt manufacturing, there will be no bad influence to antiwashout underwater concrete. The characteristic of them showed excellent, when W/C was 50%.

During recent years, the durability of concrete structures has been considered in concret practice and material research. To preserve the brittleness of concrete as well as energy absorption and impact resistance, amount of fiber usage has greatly increased in the field of public works. Ultra fine powder, silica fume, mixed into concrete, it reduce void of concrete structure. Especially, there's a great effect for strength improvement of concrete by initial pozzolanic reactions. For these reasons, if silica fume mixed into concrete, it decrease the total void by microfilter effect . Pozzolan reaction, between cement particle and silica powder, can elaborate the micro structure of matrix. And so, in this paper, we deal SFRC for the purpose of efficiently using of industrial by-products(silica fume). Also we performed the test for durability such as freeze-thaw resistance and accelerated carbonation of SFRC using silica fume.

The result of an experimental study on the mechanical properties and durability of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete are presented in this paper. This study has been performed to obtain the properties of PFRC such as strength, toughness and durability. The test variables are fiber content, fiber types, W/C ratio. PFRC shows the highest strength when the polypropylene fiber contents were increased to 2.0 vol.%. Also, freeze-thaw resistance and carbonation were somewhat more improved than plain concrete.

In the concrete structures exposed to environmental conditions at early ages, water movement occurs by moisture diffusion in the concrete, and self-desiccation of concrete is also occurred. Thus the internal relative humidity is changed from moisture diffusion and self-desiccation. Thus the internal relative humidity at each location in concrete includes the decrease by self-desiccation. Especially, for high-strength concrete the much unit cement content is used, so that the non-uniform relative humidity distribution is affected form self-desiccation at early ages. In this study, the internal relative humidity in concrete was measured at early ages, and the moisture diffusion component and self-desiccation component of total relative humidity were discussed.
-
The moisture diffusion and self-desiccation cause the differential drying shrinkage and autogenous shrinkage at early ages, respecitvely. Thus total shrinkage strain includes the differential drying shrinkage and self-desiccation shrinkage. Thus in this study the shrinkage strain was measured at various positions in the exposed concrete and in the sealed concrete the self-desiccation shrinkage was measured. In low-strength concrete, the differential drying shrinkage increases very rapidly, but self-desiccation shrinkage is very small. But high-strength concrete shows the reverse result. And the analytical results for differential drying shrinkage were in good agreement with the test results.

The experimental set-up and one-dimensional analytical model have been developed to investigate the tensile behavior of reinforced concrete member due to restrained drying shrinkage. The experimental results have been compared with the analytical prediction of the maximum residual stress of steel and concrete due to restrained shrinkage. The tensile residual stress concrete by one-dimensional bilinear model shows 0.19 and 0.63 of tensile strength for 0.83% and 3.29 of steel ratio. The residual tensile stress of concrete increases as the steel ratio increases. The effect of steel fiber has not influenced the residual stress due to restrained shrinkage of concrete.
-
Shear failure of reinforced concrete beams is serious problem due to sudden brittle failure and many experimental results proved that size effect in shear behavior is an important feature of reinforced concrete members. For this reason, the structural safety of the reinforced concrete beams for shear has been checked by applying empirical design formula, which includes the size-effect, derived from experimental data. However, as the sizes of reinforced concrete members become extremely large, experiments sometimes become very difficult so that the formula or the experimental data could not be obtained and size-effect analyses of shear behavior become significant. In this study, size-effect analysis of shear behavior in reinforced concrete beams is performed by modeling tension stiffening/shear stiffening on reinforced concrete and the tension softening/shear softening on plain concrete. Then, the influences of models in the size-effect analyses of shear behavior in reinforced concrete beams are analyzed.

Drying shrinkage means the reduction of volume of concrete because of the loss of water in concrete. This shirinkage can cause tensile stresses, crack formations at the exposure surfaces in concretes. The purpose of this paper is to apply differential shrinkage model which uses moisture diffusion equation and to calculate more reasonable shrinkage quantity, the stresses of concretes. The result of this papar is that the mean value of differential shrinkage is similar to the existing result but at exposures surface the shrinkage strains are more large. From this result the possiblility of crack formation can take place. Thus a resonable counterplan for tensile stresses in exposure surfaces is necessary.
-
Deflections due to warping are frequently ignored in design calculation. For thin member, shrinkage deflection results in important and objectionable additions to the dead load deflection. Thus it may be desirable to consider warping effects due to shrinkage for thin member. Some methods for computing shrinkage curvature have been proposed by many researchers. The approximate methods widely used in the recent years are the equivalent tensile force method. Miller's method and Branson's method (an empirical method based on Miller's approach extended to include doubly reinforced beams). These method were somewhat oversimplified and could be too conservative in the case of well cured concrete structure. In this paper, the approximate method for computing shrinkage curvature are reviewed and new approximate method based on the Age-Adjusted Effective Modulus method is proposed.

The creep of concrete structures caused by variable stresses is mostly calculated by step-by-step method based on the superposition of creep function. Although most practical application is carried out by this linear assumption, significant deviations between predictions and experiments have been observed when unloading takes place, that is, stress is reduced. The recovery is overestimated. The main purpose of this study is to present the application method of the creep analysis model which is expressed with both creep function and creep recovery function to concrete structures where is expressed with both creep function and creep recovery function to concrete structures where increase or decrease of stress is repeated . To apply two function method to time analysis of concrete structures, this study presents the calculation method of creep strain increment for stress variation. Then, this paper executes the time analysis for an example using suggested method, and compares theses results with the previous analysis values and experimental results.

The purpose of this paper is to present and establish a procedure to predict the prestress forces during the service life of the structure. The statistical approach of this procedure is using the in-situ measurement data of the post-tensioning system to develop a nonlinear regression analysis. The method of least squares is used to fit a certain function a set of data. Use of a nonlinear model is achieved by its logarithmic transformation and sunsequent use of linear-regression theory. The regression analysis result can be used to check the prestress force during the service life so that the remaining prestress force is equal to or exceeds the design requirement. Results from the measurement data of PSC box girder bridge structure were used to demonstrate the procedures.

The strain localization is a discontinuous phenomenon that addresses the formation of jumps of the field variables across a singularity surface. It has become widely accepted that the localization may occur as the result of discontinuous bifurcation which corresponds to the loss of ellipticity of the governing differential equations for elasto-plastic continua. In this paper, condition for strain localization in concrete based on bifurcation theory is studied and localization tensor analysis algorithm is employed to determine the directions of localization of deformations in concrete. By applying a plasticity model of concrete into the algorithm, localization analysis is performed concrete under uniaxial tension, pure shear and uniaxial compression.

The interfacial zone in concrete materials is extensive, geometrically complex, and constitutes inherently weak zones that limit the concrete performance. Motar-aggregate interfaces play a major role in the fracture processing in concrete composites. Also, the interfacial bond considerably influence mechanical properties of concrete such as modulus of elasticity, strength, and fracture energy, Characterization of the interfacial properties is, therefore, essential to overcome the limitations associated with the interfaces. an objective of this paper is to investigate the corelationship between the fracture toughness of mortar-aggregate interface and the concrete properties such as strengths and elastic moduli. It is observed from the test results that interface fracture toughness is closely related with the compressive strength rather than other properties. At early ages, the development of both tensile strength and elastic modulus are much greater thatn that of both interface fracture toughness and compressive strength.

The creep strain of the compression zone of concrete beams subjected to cyclic loading should be a significant factor in increasing strain and deflections. An analytical model which is similar to a previous one is presented to predict the increase in cyclic creep strain and the damage using the properties of the constituent materials: concrete and steel. The analytical expressions are compared with our experimental data. The effect of concrete-creep is accounted by the term En, Icr,n, and Mcr,n. In this study, it is proved that cyclic creep exponents 'n' in Cyclic Creep Model, according to the parameters -strength, range of stress- have the various values. It is hoped that with the availability of more experimental data and better understanding of some of the complex behavior, the model could be further improved.

In this study, the size effect of concrete members subjected to the axial load and bending moment is investigated using a series of C-shaped specimens of which test procedure is similar to those of Hognestad, Hanson, and McHenry's. Main test variable is a size ratio of the specimens(1:1/2:1/4) at the concrete compressive strength of 500kg/㎠. Test results show that the flexural compression strength at failure decreases as the size of specimen increases, that is, the size effect law is present. Model equation is derived using regression analyses with experimental data and it is compared with formulas for compressive strength of cylinders and shear strength of beams without stirrups. Size effects is distinct th following sequence; shear strength of beams without stirrups, compressive strength of C-shaped specimens, compressive strength of cylinders.

To overcome the common deficiencies found in such two-way slabs, such as excessive cracking around columns, excessive deflections and low punching shear strength, it was proposed to investigate the strategic reinforcing steel distribution detailings. Concentration of the top mat of flexural reinforcement result in a higher punching shear resistance, higher post cracking stiffness, a more uniform distribution of strains in the top bars and smaller cracks at all levels of loading.

Non-destructive field tests of the concrete has achieved increasing acceptance for the evaluation of existing concrete structures. As two major testing methods, this paper recommends the proper empirical relationship between the rebound number together with the ultrasonic pulse velocity and the core strength to fit the old concrete bridges in Korea.

The concrete structures are hardly ever built under ideal conditions. So many defects may occur for a various reasons such as unsuitable and defective materials, construction methods, poor workmanship, particular structural form and prevailing weather conditions. Some structural form can greatly increase the risk of occurrence of defects. Therefore we investigated the actual condition of the deterioration factors for reinforced concrete apartment, which was composed of 85 apartments with various building ages in different regions with five evaluation the deterioration factors of apartment building to establish the overall evaluation system of deterioration degree for reinforced concrete apartment in Korea.

The objectives of this paper are to estimate differential column Shortening and to determine appropreate compensation amount in 52 story Amatapura Apartment in Indonesia. for this, a computer program based on PCA and CEB-FIP code is developed. The results show that Elastic and Creep strain are the main factors of column shortening and the maximum differential shortening is appeared near the middle of the building height. The results between field survey and estimation have some difference, the most influential factor of the difference can be lateral restraints provided by horizontal members, which cannot be handled in this developed program. Hence introducing the modification factors from various field survey, this program can be used properly in design and construction procedures.

The analytical model is developed in order to predict the nonlinear flexural responses of bonded and unbonded prestressed concrete beam which contains advanced composite materials. The block concept is used, which be regarded as an intermediate modeling method between the couple method with one block and the layered method with multiple sliced blocks in a section. The model can successfully predict the flexural behavior of variously reinforced prestressed concrete beams.
