Since the first report on the damage of concrete structures due to alkali-aggregate reaction by T.E Stanton in 1940, cases of the damage are being reported in many countries. in the country, it is necessary to research the alkali-aggregate reaction of the crushed stone because of the short comings of natural aggregate and increasing needs of crushed stones. In this research, crushed stones from 63 local sites are collected and tested by ASTM C 289 chemical method.. The results show that most of the crushed stones are innocuous. However, the crushed stones from three sites are deleterious to the reaction by JIS A 5308. Petrographic and Mortar-Bar test will be carried out to find out any possibility of deleteriousness of the crushed stones

Selected strength characteristics of recycled concrete using crushed waste concrete were compared with those of conventional concrete using natural aggregate. Compressive strength, bonding at the interface between recycled aggregate and fresh mortar, strain and deflection under three-point bending were evaluated. Recycled concrete, in general, showed lower compressive strength, lower edlastic modulus, higher stain and higher deflection under the same loading level, compared with those of conventional concretes. However, the strength retaining ratios of recycled concretes were higher than those of conventional concretes. The compressive strength which is one of the most important load carrying capacities of concrete should be improved for successful re-use of waste concrete in structural concrete. -
The damages due to alkali-aggregate reaction between the reactive silicia constituents of the aggregate and the alkalies in cement have been frequently reported since 1923 in America . Recently alkali-aggregate reaction, especially alkali-silica reaction, can be found all over the area using crushed stones. The first research, in 1990, was performed to identify the alkali-silica reactivity of 18 sets of crushed stones used in domestic ready-mixed concrete plant as coarse aggregates by 4 petrollgical, chemical and mortar bar method, And the study was continued with 10 sets of crushed stones in this research. It was found that all the aggregates used in this study are innocuous at alkali-silica reaction.

Water potential which controls miosture movement in concrete is a kind of stress which causes concrete shrinks or expands. Therefore, there is a straightforward relationship between the water potential and the shrinkage strain. Explicit equations which show the relationships between the two parameters were derived through rational process. Two micro mechanisms among three shrinkage mechanisms were considered in the theory. Thermocouple psychrometer were embedded in a concrete slab to measure the water potential and also to find a correlation with the shrinkage. The test results prove the validity of the theory, and show the way to utilize the delived equations.

Short, randomly disturbed steel fibers in concrete increase tensile strength and ductility of concrete under direct tension. These improvements are results form crack arrest mechanisms of steel fibers in concrete. These mechanisms are theoretically considered in this study and verification on the adequancy of different spacing for predicting tensile strength of SFRC are assessed. Results indicate that better correlation exists between experimental result and the spacing concept which take into account the effect of boundaries as well as vibration on reorientation of steel fibers inside concrete. Also considered is the modeling of stress-crack opening relationships in post-peak region of SFRC under tension which bass its deviation on micromechanics of fiber pull-out. Satisfactoring results are observed between tests results and the prediction of the model.

In this thesis, the fatigue tests were performed on a series of SFRC (steel fiber reinforced concrete)to investigate the flexural tensile behavior of SFRC varying with the steel fiber contents and the steel fiber aspect ratios. Beam specimens of 10
$\times$ 10$\times$ 60cm are used. the specimen series are classified according to the steel fiber contents varying 0.5. 1.0, 1.5%, and to the steel fiber aspect ratios varying 60, 80, 100. The three point loading system was used in the fatigue tests. The minimum value of repeated loading was fixed at 10.0kgf and maximum value was 75% to static ultimate strength for periodically using concrete strain gages located at the lower end of the mid-span, and the stress-strain curves were drawn for each specimens, respectively. From the tests result, it was found that the larger steel fiber content and the smaller the steel fiber aspect ratio is , the tensile strain of SFRC under fatigue load proportionally increases. By the regression analysis on these results, the empirical formulae to predict the tensile strain of SFRC were suggested. In comparison of the tensile elastic modulus under fatigue load, it was also found that the larger steel fiber content and the smaller steel fiber aspect ratio is , the smaller decreasing rate of the stiffness of SFRC under fatigue load decreased. -

While there are many researches in high-strength concrete recently, average strength required is the level of 400kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ 28days compressive strength yet. For the effective using of high strength concrete, high strength concrete of 600 to 800kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 28days compressive strength must be accepted, But in this high strength concrete, due to much cement content, there are the problems of high hydration heat, high viscosity and economical efficiency. To solve these problems, it is suggested the method that replacement some of cement content as flyash up-to-dately. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop high strength concrete of 800kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 28days compressive strength containing fly ash. This paper is the part I that analyze the testing results of fresh concrete in various aspects. -
This paper is an experimental study on shear capacity of the high strength R/C beams with a shear span-depth ratio between 1.5 and 2.5. a total of 15 beams was tested to determine diagonal cracking and ultimate shear strength. The major variables are shear span-depth ratio (a/d=1.5, 2.0. 2.5) , vertical shear reinforcements ratio(Vs = 0 , 25, 50, 75, 100% ( Vs = Pv/Pv(ACI)), and concrete compressive strength (f'c= 747㎏/㎠). Test results indicate that ACI 318-89 Eq(11-31) generally underestimates shear strength carried by vertical shear reinforcements, and the mode of failure may change from shear tension to shear compression for the beams having higher Vs than 75%, thus the effectiveness of r-fy on ultimate shear strength (vu) decreased.

The mechanical behaviors related to the strain rate effect and the tensile strength of high-strength concrete were investigated in this study. For this purpose, concrete cylinder specimens with 4 different compressive strengths from 232kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 1113kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ were tested and analysed on the mechanical properties(stress-strain relationship, compressive, modulus of elasticity, strain at peak compressive stress). From this experimental and analytical study, it seems that the current prediction model(ACI) for modulus of rupture need to be refined. Therefore, more refined equations for evaluation tensile strength of concrete are proposed. -

The objective of the research stated here was aimed at providing the information needed to establish the Korean Seismic Design Code Recommendations and Guides for precast concrete (P.C) large panel apartment buildings. This was accomplished by investigation and analysis of the response of P.C large panel structures subjected to shaking table excitation simulating earthquake ground motion. one of the test specimens used was 1/3-scaled 3-story box P.C model provided by Sam-Hwan Camus Corporation. The 4m
$\times$ 4m shaking table was used to simulate the earthquake ground motion. the employed input accelerogram was the one recorded as Taft N21E component and the peak ground acceleration(PGA) was scaled depending on the desired level of seismic severity and the time according to dynamic similitude rule. Based on results obtained from shaking table test of this P.C model, the following conclusions were drawn . (1) As far as test specimen is concerned, the seismic safety factors turns out to be 7~8. (2)P.C model has damping ratio of about8% which is twice larger than in-situ R.C. structure. And (3)this model has global displacement ductility ratio of 2~3 through the energy dissipation by opening and sliding of joints. -
In this study , the size effect on diagonal shear failure of reinforced high strength concrete beams was investigated, For this purpose, ten singly reinforced high strength concrete beams without web reinforcement were tested for five different dimensions of effective depth which were varied from 67mm to 915mm. The compressive strength of concrete used in this study was 53.7 MPa. One type of reinforcing bar with nominal yield strength of 400 MPa was used. Test results were analyzed and compared with strength predicted by ACI code equation, Zutty's equation and Bazant &Kim's equation. As the results, ACI code equation was seriously unconservative for beams with d of 915mm. Bazant & Kim's equation predicted well the trend of test data. Within the scope of this study, there was no clear difference in size effect with variation of compressive strength of concrete.

In this paper, the effect of compressive strength on the fatigue behavior of plain concrete was studied. The fatigue behavior of plain concrete in uniaxial compression is somewhat affected by the compressive strength of the concrete. Concrete cylindrical specimens(100
$\times$ 200mm) with compressive strength of 265kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ , 530kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ , 860kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 1053kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ were tested and analyzed on the fatigue strength, In addition to fatigue strength, the deformation characteristics of the concrete subjected to fatigue loading was investigated. The fatigue strength was decreased for the high-strength concrete. The deformation studies indicated that the irrecoverable strain in normal strength concrete is greater than that in high strength concrete. -
To analyze the effects compressive strength of concrete and longitudinal steel ratio on second-order moment of columns, 30tied rein reinforced concrete columns with hinged ends were tested. The 80mm square cross section was used and the amount of eccentricity was 24mm. The compressive strengths of column specimens with slenderness ratios of 10, 60, and 100were 250, 648 and 880kg/
$\textrm{cm}^2$ , and the longitudinal steel ratios were 1.98%(4-D6) and 3.95%(8-D6). The ratio of ultimate load capacity to that of short column with the same eccentricity (Pu/Pn) was much decreased at high slenderness ratio with increasing the compressive strength of concrete. And the lateral displacement of slender column at the ultimate load was decreased as the strength was increased. These are due to that at high slenderness ratio the load capacity and behavior of column are affected by flexural rigidity. And, it was also found that with increasing steel ratio, the value of Pu/Pn and the lateral displacement at the ultimate load were larger for the same slenderness ratio. -
Ficticious Crack Model(FCM) is one of the Nonlinear Analysis Method which is presented strictly strain softening phenomena of concrete in the fracture zone. As no stress singularities occur, it is not necessary to use special crack tip elements for this analysis. A special feature of the used method is that it explains not only the growth of existing cracks, but also the formation of new crack, as it is assumed that cracks start forming when the tensile stress reaches ft, i, e the same criterion is used for formation and propagation of cracks.

Four 3-story 1/2 scaled large concrete panel structures were designed and tested to estimate the seismic resistance capacity of large concrete panel high rise building systems, Test specimens were modeled three story of 24 or 15 story buildings and set up to represent the actural stress of the building . The axial force was constant and the horizontal force was loaded by ductility ratio. Results indicated that the joints of specimens were behavied monolithically to maximum strength. It was shown that the joint box connecting system had lower maximum strength and energy dissipation capacity than welding connection system, but had better deformation capacity.

ACI318-89 Recommended that when the specified compressive strength of concrete in a column is greater than1.4 times that specified for a floor system, top surface of the column concrete shall extend 2ft(600mm)into the slab from the face of column to avoid unexpected brittle failure. The major variables are extension distance, flexural strength ratio(Mr), and shear reinforcement ratio(Vs). Test results are as follows ; (1) The failure modes of specimens under cyclic loading were concentrated at critical region from beam-column joint face. (2) Ductility index(
$\mu$ f) were increased with increasing of shear confinement ratio and flexural strength ratio. (3)The specimens with 2ft extension distance showed more ductility than the specimens with 1ft extension distance. -

This research is related to the experimental verification of the shear resistance of horizontal joint in precast concrete large panel structures. a total of 9 spicemens was tested to assess their shear resistance. In the tests lateral forces have been applied to the specimen to cause shear failure while keeping the axial compression consistantly. The shear resistances of the specimens have been evaluated by investigating the deformations and failure modes of the specimens. From the test results, it is observed that the shear resistance of the horizontal joints of P.C panel structures are closely connected with shear friction mechanism.

Design live load and girder distribution factors play an important role in the current design procedures. The fraction of vehicle load effect transferred to a single member may be selected in accordance with current KBDC. However, the specified values, both design load and distribution factors involve considerable inaccuracies, These inaccuracies relate to the uncertainties of the structural analysis, especially any bias and scatter which drives from the use of simplified load distribution factors. In this study , based on several field measurement and finite element analysis, live load distribution effects of current KBDC are evaluated. The final values of the bias and coefficient of variation of "g"according to bridge type are determined. The bridge types are reinforced concrete slab, prestressed concrete girder and steel l-beam.el l-beam.

The values of a linguistic variable are words, phrases, or sentences in a given language. For example, structural damage can be considered as linguistic variable with values such a 'severely damaged', 'moderately damaged', which are meaningful classifications but not clearly defined, This paper is to evaluate reasonably the correction factor of bridge capacity with the aid of fuzzy sets theory. By using the above mentioned fuzzy measure, the concept of fuzzy integral and linear membership function can be defined. It is concluded that the fuzzy sets theory cam be applied to determine reasonably the correction factor of bridge capacity.
