In recent years, local governments are interested in constructing museums of various scales in relationship to unique factors of each region regarding their positive effects on tourist industry. However, many museums have failed to reflect regional characteristics resulting uniformed, uninteresting museum architectures. This study analyzes museum architectures designed by Ando Dadao, Antoine Predock's, Charles Correa, Carlo Scarpa, and Ricardo Legorrata based on 7 criterias of Kenneth Prampton's critical regionalism theory which are natural environment, materials, light, weather, unique culture, and history. It Is hoped that this study may serve as a stopping stone towards designing museums that reflect distinctive regional identities of Korea.

The premise of this study is that an ultimate objective in planning an exhibition space is spectators' experiences shaped by a result of their first-hand experiences and responses within an exhibition space, and this result can be recognized in the spectators' movement. The purpose of this paper is finding out characteristics and differences between amounts and methods of information which gives visitors through sign system as communication design, by this analysis, providing clues necessary for design in museum.

This study started from the premise that the satisfaction of visitors in large-scaled design-related fair has co-relation with the environmental and contextual factors such as contents, lighting, the number and location of rest area, crowdedness, ventilation and circulation. The research was made in Seoul Living Design Fair 2006. 109 samples from 138 who answered to the questionnaire with likert-scaled and open questions were selected for the data, which were statistically analyzed through SPSS 12.0 program to explore the co-relation between the environmental factors and the satisfaction level of visitors. The findings showed that overall satisfaction level was In the middle of the scale, which means satisfied nor unsatisfied. Even though the visitors had difficulties In circulation and showed various types in circulation. It can be concluded that the main factors should be considered to achieve higher satisfaction level and provide better environment in the large-scaled fair.

Thus, an exhibition of a museum cannot be completed by an intrinsic value of exhibition itself. Thereby the purpose of this thesis is finding out the relationship between the visitors' pattern and spatial configuration in museum. As a result, as for the visitors' movement, it was grasped that diversified patterns of movements could appear in case the selections of courses are diversified within the environment in that the general understanding about the spaces was easy. That is, the exhibition environment in that general understanding about the spaces is easy because of the low depth of the exhibition space recognized from the entrance of the exhibition space and composition of exhibition space with diversified selections of courses may induce diversity of viewing patterns. That is, it may mean that in such composition of space, visitors may establish viewing courses based on their own purposes of viewing and preference thus they form individual spatial experiences themselves.

With the development of medical technology, economic growth and increased interests In health in our society nowadays, the male and female average length of life has continued to increase. In response to the rapid aging phenomenon, diverse paid residential facilities for the elder have geometrically emerged in a short period, but compared to their quantitative increase, the kinds of facilities are not diverse and the quality of the facility environment also is not at the desirable level in comparison with the economic and intellectual level. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to analyze the residential space from a perspective of marketing and establish the residential environment for the elder in response to the expansion of the market of the paid residential facilities for the elder in the future.

This paper aims to analyze ecological characteristics of interior design, selecting as the subjects Busan-based construction companies which have a model house, among those that distribute apartments in Busan as of August 2006. Primarily, literature research Is conducted to understand recent trends of interior design for apartment building, present situations and characteristics of ecological design, and prepare environmentally-friendly guidelines and check-list items on the basis of domestic and overseas cases. Collected data in turn is analyzed to assess ecological characteristics of apartment building design in Korea today and present problems and directions for the future.

Through this study, I conducted surveys on apartments with western style furniture to investigate perception on the western style furniture and its use. For the subject of survey, I selected three apartment complexes at Suji-gu, Yongin city which has been recently developed as a new town. Out of total 150 copies of survey sheets 142 fully answered copies were adopted as a final analysis data. Considering supply rate and application, sofa and chair of dining table were chosen to refer as western style furniture. As a result, most of the respondents had inconvenience in using western style furniture. Further study on side effects of adopting western style furniture should be followed.

Movement from aging society to aged society and to ultra aged society is a fact that we have to accept as reality. It also means that we are given a common assignment of supporting the aged. Therefore, this study dealt with forms of space of the welfare facilities for the aged in Japan that are being suggested as a plan to solve the problem of supporting the aged. Japan who has similar Confucian culture like Korea experienced the aging of population 30 years earlier and enactment of law 20 years earlier than Korea. Therefore, Korean policies, systems and standards for welfare of the aged have been following Japanese welfare development model. This study analyzed the small-scale multifunctional welfare facilities for the aged in Japan before founding them in Korea to adapt the facilities that are compatible in domestic circumstance.

This study was done with a goal to observe changes of color emotions according to time flow and light changes as well as to study its moaning of color experience of natural scene to modern city dwellers with artificial surroundings. Individuals develop various feelings after seeing a color, but there is sometimes a common feeling raised among these various feelings. This study aims to investigate the influence of natural colors of surroundings on the emotions of human beings. First of all, we tried to discover how feelings change after a person is reminded of a color through an experience (recognition) of a natural color. Second, differences in feelings resulting from color perception are analyzed after time passes (sunrise, daytime, and sunset) and the colors of natural surroundings change accordingly. Survey was done in the period of $Jul.8^{th}$ to $10^{th}$, 2005 with 100 people (55 male and 45 female) in various professions and various ages between twenties to forties as respondent.

From the ancient to contemporary architecture, the light has been an important theme determining the characteristics of interior space. Especially in the religious space, the light was manipulated to express the worship for a god more than a physical element of the nature. It implied that human's space perception through the light was considered prior to the space itself. The perceptual experience in space was primarily elicited by the light with other factors, such as water, texture, and sound which temporarily renewed and updated the information of space. In this study, we critically analyzed the effects of the light which enhanced human's perceptual experience in the religious space in the view of Merleau Ponty's phenomenological philosophy. Escalating rate of working women is increasing the necessity for day-care centers. Moreover, insufficient child-care system is known as one of many factors that relate to the seriously low birth-rate of our society. Therefore providing more adequate day-care centers can not be regarded as a mere personal necessity but a social need to be considered at corporate and governmental level. The current study analyzes 'Reggio-emilia teaching method' which is a type of early childhood educational program and its relationship to the built environment. It also examines current interior spaces of Reggio-emilia day-care centers and suggests designs for an day-care center appropriate for educating children in Korea.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics and trends of future housing reference to ubiquitous housing cases in U.S.A, Japan and Korea. From these cases, reorganized ubiquitous-apartment elements are suitable to our housing environment. To search them, it is investigated to 4 ubiquitous housing examples, such as Aware Home, Toyota's PAPI, samsung raemian's housing gallery and GS E&C's apartment. In this study, we could get types and characteristics and planning elements of ubiquitous housings. The findings showed that many kinds of common network systems were suggested and were acted in limited spaces. In conclusion, it was considered as the one of the most suitable future housing type that had a special feature of the demands of residence and life with free accessibility of information and data. This research investigated the public rental houses In Yangchon-gu, whose locational attribute are suitable for the public rental house and has superior position in both inhabitants' participation and public welfare program. The public rental house has several types, such as permanent lease house, public lease. And several programs, the aged support police and medical services delivery system, have been the leading models for other local governments. The environment-friendly parking lot and greenzone were satisfactory on the viewpoint of ecology. From the perspective of relationship between housing and environment there was lack of the consideration of locality issues. However, from the perspective of health and comfortability there was lack of indoor planting.

Architecture is builded on the ground and affected environment which include shape of topography and situation. What this study saying is the analysis about the relation between the concept of structural geomorphology and the space modern architecture. As there are many issue about boundary of space and organic architecture, It is important what study about structural geomorphology In paper, we will aware that there are many similarities between architecture and topography. Notion of folded structure in structural geomorphology is connected with continuity or infinity. This is one of many example.

The purpose of this design plan is a method for opening the church to regional society to contribute to make up the community within regional society and to achieve the desirable common society of christianity like following. 1)For opening churchs to regional society, the church has to make up exterior spaces sufficiently. 2)The main chapel has to planned with mutipurpose for fiexibility and various functions of contemporary church. 3)The whole facilities have to be organized with a kind of the complex or multifunctional building which can accommodate activities of education, recreation and culture, therefore, content with the community's requirements. 4)The architectural form of the church has to planned with human scale, considering harmonization with regional environment. Modern church architecture needs a centralized plan, a variety of shapes such as square, round oval and polygon rather then a rectangular which is able to bring about a closer reationship between the priest and the congregation in the church.
