This paper is a study on the effect of the cutting speed, length of tip-specimen and cutting thickness in CNC gas cutting of the high-tensile steel plate(AH36). Experiments were performed to investigate the variations of cutting surface, surface roughness and kerf width under various cutting conditions.

A vision sensor measure range data using laser light source, This sensor generally use patterned laser which shaped single line. But this vision sensor cannot satisfy new trend which needs faster and more precise processing. The sensor's sampling rate increases as reduced image processing time. However, the sampling rate can not over 30fps, because a camera has mechanical sampling limit. If we use multi line laser pattern, we will measure multi range data in one image. In the case of using same sampling rate camera, number of 2D range data profile in one second is directly proportional to laser line's number. For example, the vision sensor using 5 laser lines can sample 150 profiles per second in best condition.

The gas metal arc welding(GMAW) is regarded as one of the best candidate for welding automation in industrial joining application. It is important to monitor the weld quality for the high performance of weld automation. The measured analog signal is frequency analyzed by digital signal process method. In order to observe the welding phenomena and control welding condition, arc light, voltage, and current are measured at the same time. They are analyzed and compared with arc sound. for these experiments, a power source of constant voltage characteristics was used in the pure metal transfer mode.

A CCD camera with a laser strip was applied to realize the automation of welding process in GMAW. The Hough transformation was used to extract the laser stripe and to obtain specific weld points. In this study, a neural network based on the generalized delta rule algorithm was adapted for the process control of GMA, such as welding speed, arc voltage and wire feeding speed.

The welding distortion can result in problems such as dimensional inaccuracies during assembly and raise concerns on safety during service. Therefore, an accurate prediction and a reduction of the deformation are critical to improving the quality of the weldment. In this study, four cases for reducing welding distortion is proposed and it is evaluated through experiments.

In this study, a formula for thermal processing induced plate deformations, in terms of process parameters such as heat input and plate thickness, is developed analytically using an infinite laminated plate theory to consider cuboidal inclusion with an eigenstrains. When a plate has arbitrary heating lines, complex deformed shape of plate was calculated by the method estimating plate deformation proposed by this study. To make a curved surface of the ship hull, the line heating method is mainly used. Application in automatization of line heating was deliberate by using proposed method.

An implicit finite element implementation for Leblond's transformation plasticity constitutive equations, which are widely used in welded steel structure is proposed in the framework of parallel computing. The implementation is based upon the updated Lagrangian formulation. We examine the efficiency of parallel compuatation for the finite element analysis of a welded structure using multi-frontal solver.

This is a partial report of the investigation of fatigue behaviour of hollow section T-joints with circular brace members and rectangular chord members (CRHS). Hot spot stresses and the stress concentration factors (SCFs) were determined experimentally. Fatigue testing was carried out under constant amplitude loading in air. The experimental SCF values for CRHS joints were found to be below those of circular-to-circular (CCHS) and rectangular-to-rectangular (RRHS) hollow section joints. The fatigue strength referred to experimental hot spot stress was in reasonably good agreement with current fatigue design codes for tubular joints.

This study is investigated in variations of micro-structures and mechanical properties of Ti/SUS321L joint with bonding temperature and time using brazing method. According to increasing bonding temperature and time, it was observed the thickness of their reaction layer increased. In tensile test, it was examined that the tensile strength had maximum value at the bonding time of 5min and decreased after bonding time over 5min because of increasing their oxides and intermetallic compounds.
