The die casting process was used to manufacture a alternator housing for automobile. Specially automobile parts were required light and hight strength. Therefore simulation have been carried out die casting process of the alternator housing. In this paper, we investigated about characteristics of the die casted alternator housing the HPDC(High Pressure Die Casting) process. Also we designed the die casting die with the simulation results of the alternator housing. The MAGMAsoft and Auto-CAD was used as computer simulation and design code and used material was ADC12(Aluminum Die Casting Alloy). We present the results of filling behavior and design of die process of the alternator housing cast. The result obtained about filling behavior and design of die of the cast showed good agreement with test result.

In this study, Automatic design program creates 3D solid models and constructs them. The method of making assembly model is two. One assembles the element made in automatic design program with hand, the other develops the automatic design program for creating assembly model. Automatic design program improves the convenience of user. In creating gears, involute ewe and Trochoidal fillet curve are made by mathematical development.

In this study, we will try to develop the 3D automatic design program of limit gauge. When users, who Have some mechanical information input some date, they can do 3D-modeling easily like expert. This is one of the merit in automatic design program and the automatic design program can compare the limit gauge made in this study with processed the bolt and nut model. This demonstrates the effective value of automatic design model. Limits gauge of sort divide into ring gauge of measuring bolt and pin gauge of measuring nut. Generally, Oxidization film are generated by friction and wear in lubricant oil. It is effect that the heat and pressure act on contact area. Because the electrons movement progress the oxidization, if the electrons movement be regulated, the thickness of oxidization film can be regulated and friction characteristics can be improved. But electronic current can deteriorate friction characteristics, so various characteristics must be investigated on transforming of electronic current. Therefor, using the Norton equation, short current were transformed between ball and disk. Also, an experiment was carried out using ball on disk type tester. So, we studied up on effect of current for friction characteristics.

A conventional silica gel/water adsorption chiller has been analyzed numerically. A novel non-dimensional mathematical model has been presented to analyze the design effect of different components of an adsorption chiller. The design parameters of this system are characterized by the number of transfer unit, NTU, of different components and the inert material alpha number,
${\alpha}$ of different components of the systems. Results show that condenser NTU$\sub$ a/ has the most influential effect on the system performance, which is fellowed by absorber NTU$\sub$ e/. It is also seen that coefficient of performance (COP) and non-dimensional specific cooling capacity increases with the increase of NTU$\sub$ a/ and NTU$\sub$ e/, but decreases with the increase of inert material alpha number. A thermo-economic data of the adsorption chiller and some other heat pump systems those are in practical operation are also presented. -
The existing compressor steel seal used in automotive air-conditioner has the problem of oil leakage and the deterioration in shielding performance, due to the abrasion and the corrosion of the material. A new type of polymer resin seal is studied in the research. The polymer resin seal has the characteristics of high anti-abrasiveness and anti-corrosiveness, which can overcome the deflects of the steel seal. In addition, the seal needs lower manufacturing cost and is appropriate to mass production, because it is made by the injection molding method requiring no mechanical processing. The profile generation program for seal mold has been developed using the gradient method, and the molding characteristics of the seal have analyzed through the flow analysis and the warpage analysis. The program has been verified by comparing the analysis results with the measured data of the test product. The research might be said to provide the basic method to produce the polymer resin seals with various types and dimensions.

In this study, we develop automatic design program, which create 3D model of spur gear and helical gear used VisuaILISP and create helical gear in the CATIA using 2D profile of gear. This model become the standard model, which give not only in itself mold information but also computer processed product with measuring date. Spur gear require mathematical examination of involute curve and trocoidal fillet curve. Automatic design program, which have a mathematical development create the profile of spur gear.

High speed machining is one of most effective technologies to improve productivity. It can give great advantage for manufacture of die and Moulds. However, when the high speed machining of materials, especially in machining of micro groove, a severely thermal demage was generated on workpiece and tool. Generally, the cutting fluid is used to improve penetration, lubrication, and cooling effect. In order to rise the performance of lubrication, it contains extreme pressure agents (Cl, S, P). But the environment of work room go bad by those additive Therefore, the compressed chilly air with Oil mist system was developed to replace the conventional cutting fluid system. This paper carried out the tests to evaluate the machinability by the cutting environment in high speed micro groove machining of NAK80 (HRC40). Compressed chilly air with oil mist was ejected on the contact area between cutting edge and workpiece. The effectiveness of this developed compressed chilly air with oil mist system was evaluated in terms of tool life. The results showed that the tool life of carbide tool coated TiAIN with compressed chilly air mist cooling was much longer than with dry and flood coolant when cutting the material.

In the recent, electro-rheological fluid has been used for micro polishing of the 3-dimensional micro-aspherical lens and some sectional parts with defects on the wide flat wafer. The ER fluid has the properties that its viscosity has drastic changed under some electric fields. Therefore, ER fluid can be applicable to the micro polishing fur some parts using these properties. In this paper, the experimental device has been constructed using the precision milling machine in order to micro polishing far some sectional parts of a 4 inches wafer It is consisted of a small steel electrode, a wafer fixture, DC10mA and 5KV power supply unit, and a controller unit. Using the ER experimental device, possibility of amending for wide flat wafer and micro polishing of some micro part has been analyzed.

In this study, through the experimental results of grinding ratio, grinding force and surface roughness with the obtained wear amount of diamond wheel and ceramic material during the grinding process, the following conclusions could be found. In the case of
$Si_3N_4$ , the wear of diamond wheel is large while the grinding force is stable and the range of change in surface roughness is small. for the case of$AL_2O_3$ and$ZrO_3$ , while the wear of diamond wheel is getting smaller, the grinding force is increasing but the value of surface roughness is decreasing. For grinding with the vitrified bond wheel, it seems that the self-sharpening can be found for$Si_3N_4$ and the glazing effect of the cutting edge for$AL_2O_3$ and$ZrO_3$ . -
The fault analysis of the CNC machine tool which is controlled sequentially by PLC is generally based on ladder diagram. When machine tool has faults, it takes a lot of operator's experiences and times to identify logical relationship because ladder diagram is a step structured language. Therefore the technologies of finding out fault reasons automatically is necessary. In this paper, the SFG(Switching Function Generator) system is developed to analysis fault reasons correctly. The SF(Switching Function) and SSF(Step Switching Function) generated from SFG based on ladder diagram are experimented to identify the performance of SFG.

This paper aims to synthesize the research on fatigue mechanisms of high strength aluminum alloys which are widely used in motorcars or airplanes to prevent accidents. To measure the data of crack opening ratio, the same materials and methods are used for evaluating the fatigue crack propagation rate as an effective stress intensity factor. But, many researchers have brought different results. An exact crack opening ratio was, therefore, proposed for getting a more accurate fatigue crack propagation rate.

One of the exciting research areas of the X-ray microscope is the observation of a living cell. In order to study a living cell with high resolution the order of the several tens nm, we need to improve the efficiency of mirrors which are components of an X-ray microscope system. In this paper we present the mirror design and manufacture to give a high resolution and reflectivity. We designed Wolter type I the condenser and objective mirror with the several tens of nm resolution. According to mirror design. we made the program using the visual basic. Using the new processing method as well as the ultra-precision diamond cutting, we directly processed the inside of an aluminum hulk in order to manufacture mirrors. From the experimental result, we think that the new processing method will improve a high reflectivity through the improved cutting tools and optimum cutting conditions.

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the welding characteristics and the fatigue crack propagation behavior of titanium commonly using power station, aircraft and ship. The experimented material was TIG welded in order to look over the characteristics according to the notch position and compare with other materials. We compared and reviewed the fatigue crack propagation behavior of nontch base metal and welded specimens having different notch position to evaluate the fatigue crack propagation behavior by welding condition.

It is generally applied constraint welding condition to structure manufacture in the industry field. But it is thinkable that the residual stress of the construction and specimens for experiment is different because not constraint welding but non-constraint welding are applied for experiment. To apply the constraint welding condition as the industry field and compare and evaluate the welding residual stress distribution, the TlG welding of the pure titanium was carried out under constraint and non-constraint welding conditions

The characteristics of the track are important concerning the mobility of tracked vehicles. It can be represented in terms of the track tension and maintaining the track tension adequately guarantees the stable and improved driving of the tracked vehicles. The track tension must be known in order to be controlled and it needs to be estimated in real-time because it is difficult to be measured. The tension around idler and sprocket can be controlled by the frizzy logic control system base on the estimated values. Dynamic Track Tensioning System(DTTS) which is estimating and controlling the track tension. In this paper, simulation tool is developed in order to apply the DTTS to real battle tanks. To construct the simulation tool, the Modeling the tracked vehicle, constructing estimation system, and designing controller should be achieved first and then all subsystem should be organized in one. The simulation tool make the RecurDyn model of tracked vehicle, which is plant model, and the control system exchange their data simultaneously. Simulation with many kinds of driving conditions and road conditions is carried out and the results are interpreted. The interpretation provides necessary information to apply the DTTS to real battle tanks.

The thermal characteristics of high-speed air spindle system with built-in motor are studied. Experiment and finite difference method analysis obtain temperature rise and temperature distribution of housing. For the analysis, air fluid film model is built and temperature rise and distribution in thermal steady state are computed for each rotational speed. Generally, it is said that the heat generation of air bearing is negligible. But the heat generation in air film by heat dissipation can not be negligible especially into high-speed region of the journal. In case that the heat generation of air spindle system is high, natural frequency of the spindle system becomes lower when the thermal state is in steady-state and it means the changes of air bearing stiffness due to the change of bearing clearance. It is shown that the temperature rise of air spindle system causes thermal expansion and induces the variation of bearing clearance. In consequence the stiffness of air bearing becomes smaller.

In order to manufacture a precision mold/die by machining, users need high speed & precision mold/die machining center. So, for development of this machine, we intend to use linear motor that is instead of ball-screw, servo-motor and coupling, high-speed spindle of pressurized air journal bearing and composite materials. In this paper we research column moving type and table moving type. The former is mainly piling 3 axes on one moving body, the latter is consist of two independent carriages. Both types are available to high speed & precision machine, but we finally draw a conclusion column moving type due to an advantage of high-speed control of linear motor.

Increasing demands on precision machining of 3D free-form surface have necessitated the tool smoothly varying feedrates. This paper presents on of algorithm for adaptive feedrate on NURBS curve. Since the algorithm for calculating variable feedrate depends on the curvature of curve, it permits to get constant material tool can be protected un terms of tool chipping vibration, etc.

In general, manufacturing error originated in bad material, machine tool defection, tool defection, and tool breakage. When the manufacturing process is stable, the error is come from the tool wear. In common on-machine measurement, teaching probe and touch sensor are widely used, however in this thesis the automatic tool compensation system using electric touch point measuring system is developed and evaluated, and effective operating is proposed.

The object of this study is a manufacture of burr die using CAD/CAM systems. Systems are consist of AutoCAD, CAM software and CNC milling machine. CAM software is purpose of G-code generation for CNC programming. Then CAM software and CNC milling machine are connect to RS-232-C cable for networking.

Injection molding process factors such as molding temperature, injection pressure, flow rate and flow velocity, must be controlled properly in filling and packing phases in the injection molding process. In this study, effects of these factors on the injection molding were investigated through the flow analysis fur the filling and packing phases. Molding troubles like flow mark, weld line, sink mark, short shot and warpage can be caused by these injection molding process factors. Among them, the short shot was caused by that the packing pressure could not reach properly to the filling end part in the packing phase and hence the flow rate could not be supplied to the full. In addition, as the flow rate for the volumetric shrinkage during the frozen phase could not be supplied properly by the packing pressure, the short shot appeared. Here, the volumetric shrinkage reduced with increasing the packing pressure and also the warpage of molded part increased with increasing the packing pressure.

In this study, it was investigated about endurance limit and fatigue behavior of load carrying fillet welded cruciform joints according to welding methods of SMAW, SAW, MIG and FCAW commonly using for welding structures in present. Endurance limit carried omit highly in the order of SMAW, MIG, SAW, FCAW and fatigue crack propagation ratio carried out lowly in the order of SMAW, MIG, FCAW, SAW. By these results, it is needed to use SMAW or MIG welding methods for welding structures with small welding capacity and SAW or FCAW methods for large welding structures after due consideration about economic gains and operation efficiency of welding. Fatigue crack propagation ratio is more effected by strength of welding materials than endurance limit of welding materials according to welding methods.

Motorcycle industry, for its competitive position, depends on part design technology. This part design has a bulky amount of data and asks the accumulation of advanced technical skill and experience, and fragmentary technical application is not enough to get to the kernel of a problem. Therefore, the improvement of proper productivity - the starting point of engineering design - and useful Design Methodology for products manufacturing are needed. Thus this paper is aimed to create a program that outputs dynamic characteristics of a vehicle when the data from fully understanding on motorcycle's brake system and induced formula for brake design are inputted.

At present, wind tunnel test or CFD is used for predicting aerodynamic drag coefficient in motor company. But, wind tunnel test requires much cost and time, and CFD has about 30% error. In this study a predicting program of the aerodynamic drag coefficient based on empirical techniques was developed. Also a mathematical optimization method using GRG method was added to the program. The program was applied to six cars. Aerodynamic drag coefficient values of six cars were Predicted with 4.857% average error. The optimization method was also applied to six cars. Three parameters selected from sensitivity analysis were determined to reduce the afterbody drag coefficient to the value established by a designer and when some parameters were changed for a developing automotive, optimal modifiable parameters were determined to preserve the same drag coefficient as the original automotive. It was verified that this program could predict the aerodynamic drag coefficient effectively and accurately, and this program with GRG method could determine optimal values of parameters.

An automatic inspection vision systems whose development was the industry applications motor rear side member. This system are connected to the 9 ea camera fur the process inspection the bolt, nuts, units in the rear side member product. This automatic inspection vision systems can perform inspection of not attached the bolt, nuts, units, etc fast and accuracy in react time fashion. And then perform very sophisticated inspection which human workers can not perform.

In a high speed spindle system, it is very important to monitor the state of rotating rotor. Particularly in active control spindle system, the position sensor must provide feedback to the control system on the exact position of the rotor. In order to monitor the state of a high speed spindle exactly, high accuracy and wide frequency bandwidth of sensors are important. This paper observes the factors which has an effect on dynamic performances of inductive position sensor.

Recently, the development of aerospace and automobile industries has brought new technological challenges, rebated to the growing complexity of products and the new geometry of the models. High speed milling with a 5-Axis milling machine has been widely used fur 3D sculptured surface parts. When turbine blades are machined by a 5-axis milling, their thin and cantilever shape causes vibrations, deflections and twists. Therefore, the surface roughness and the waviness of the workpiece are not good. In this paper, the effects of cutter orientation and the lead/tilt angle used to machine turbine blades with a 5-axis high speed ball end-milling were investigated to improve geometric accuracy and surface integrity. The experiments were performed using a lead/tilt angle of 15
$^{\circ}$ to the workpiece with four cutter directions such as horizontal outward, horizontal inward, vertical outward, and vortical inward directions. Workpiece deflection, surface roughness and the machined surface were all measured with various cutter orientations such as cutting directions, and lead/tilt angle. The results show that the best cutting strategy for machining turbine blades with a 5-axis milling is horizontal inward direction with a tilt angle. -
Recently, researches on precision machining of nato-order, especially in the field of optical components and semi-conductors have been under development very actively. A accuracy of machining and positioning in a critical issue in ultra-precision machining. This paper proposes a new positioning system which can give excellent dynamic characteristics and reduce errors in horizontal, vertical, pitching, and yawing motions. In this paper, we suggest a connecting mechanism (the couplings) to reduce motion errors such as chatter and runout while preserving the positioning accuracy. We verified the good performance in the new connecting systems with various coupling types, which we classified into the fixed type, the spring type, the aeroctatic-nozzle type, and the aeroctatic-porous type according to the way of reducing the chatter and error.

Recent years, optical components'are widely used in optical communication industry for high speed and mass storage data processing. Micro grooving of planar lightwave circuit and glass, those are widely used in optical component, are realized by polycrystalline diamond tool with ultrasonic vibration. To know the characteristics of brittle materials cutting, ultrasonic vibration cutting tool and machining system are built for the experiment. Grooving on planar lightwave circuit and glass experiments are performed and their shape are measured by photograph with microscope. It reveals that better groove shape with low chipping of planar lightwave circuit and glass are obtained by micro grooving machining with ultrasonic vibration. These experiments are considered as a possibility to the micro grooving of optical communication components.

This paper presents a new approach to the design of adaptive control system using DSPs(TMS320C50) fur robotic manipulators to achieve trajectory tracking angles. Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithms to provide motion for robotic manipulators. In the proposed scheme, adaptation laws are derived from the improved second stability analysis based on the indirect adaptive control theory. The proposed control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, an suitable fur implementation of real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require an accurate dynamic modeling, nor values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the adaptive controller is illustrated by experimental results for a SCARA robot.

This paper presents a new approach to the calibration of a SCARA robot orientation with a camera modeling that accounts for major sources of camera distortion, namely, radial, decentering, and thin prism distortion. radial distortion causes an inward or outward displacement of a given Image point from its ideal location. Actual optical systems are subject to various degrees of decentering, that is, the optical centers of lens elements are not strictly collinear. Thin prism distortion arises from imperfection in lens design and manufacturing as well as camera assembly It is our purpose to develop the vision system for the pattern recognition and the automatic test of parts and to apply the line of manufacturing.

Collision free task planning for dual-arm robot which perform many subtasks in a common work space can be achieved in two steps : path planning and trajectory planning. Path planning finds the order of tasks for each robot to minimize path lengths as well as to avoid collision with static obstacles. A trajectory planning strategy is to let each robot move along its path as fast as possible and delay one robot at its initial position or reduce speed at the middle of its path to avoid collision with the other robot.

In switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive, it is necessary to synchronize the stator phase excitation with the rotor position. Therefore the rotor position information is an essential. Usually optical encoders or resolvers are used to provide the rotor position information. These sensors are expensive and are not suitable for high speed operation. In general, the accuracy of the switching angles is dependent upon the resolution of the encoder and the sampling period of the microprocessor. But the region of high speed, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth from the preset values, witch are cause by the sampling period of the microprocessor. Therefore, the low cost linear encoder suitable for the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and the control algorithm to provide the switching signals using the simple digital logic circuit is also presented in this paper It is verified from the experiments that the proposed encoder and logic controller can be a powerful candidate for the practical low cost SRM drive.

This application study presents a solution to control a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor without sensors. The use of this system yields enhanced operations, fewer system components, lower system cost , energy efficient control system design and increased efficiency. The control method presented is field oriented control (FOC). The sinusoidal voltage waveforms are generated by the power module using the space vector modulation technique. A practical solution is described and results are given in this application Study. The performance of a Sensorless architecture allows an intelligent approach to reduce the complete system costs of digital motion control applications using cheaper electrical motors without sensors. This paper deals with an overview of sensorless solutions in digital motor control applications whereby the focus will be the new Controller without sensors and its applications.

Metalworking fluids (MWFs) are fluids used during machining and grinding to prolong the life of the tool , carry away debris, and protect the surfaces of work pieces. These fluids reduce friction between the cutting tool and the work surface, reduce wear and galling, Protect surface characteristics, reduce surface adhesion or welding and carry away generated heat. Workers can be exposed to MWFs by inhaling aerosols (mists) and by skin contact with the fluid. Skin contact occurs by dipping the hands into the fluid, splashes, or handling workpieces coated with the fluids. The amount of mist generated (and the result ins level of exposure) depends on many factors. To reduce the potential health risks associated with occupational exposures to MWFs, it is required to establish optimum MWFs supply method and condition with minimum Quantity in all over the mechanical machining field including high speed type heavy cult ing process.

Mechanical micro-engineering is an easy and cheap way to fabricate micro-structures. If the application of the conventional machining method using flat-end mill becomes available for the micro-manufacturing process, it will be advanced as an extension of the conventional machining process. In this study, micro-grooves cutting using flat-end mill((
$\phi$ 8) was performed. The characteristics on flat-end milling was investigated to improve machinability of micro-grooves. The experiments were performed according to variations of spindle revolution, depth of cut, and feed rate. Machinability through various cutting conditions was evaluated by surface geometry, tool wear, and cutting force. The results show that micro V-grooves of width(pitch) 29${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were acquired by flat-end milling. The maximum and minimum roughness of the wall of grooves was 438 and 67nm, respectively -
Recently, linear motor has been developed for linear motion of machine tools. Linear motor is useful to design the linear motion, high speed and high accuracy, because of the simple system not required the additional mechanical part such as coupling and ballscrew. This paper tested performance of linear motor relevant to motioning and positioning table such as F.R.F., step response and positional accuracy Linear motion system using linear motor requires the effective cooling system because it cause to decrease the positional error and to protect the motor coil. Therefore the positional error measurement was made to evaluate the effect of the temperature variation.

This paper presents the thermal characteristics analysis of a high-speed HMC(horizontal machining center) with spindle speed of 30,000rpm and fried rate of 40m/min. The spindle speed is achieved by introducing angular contact ball bearings, oil-jet lubrication method, oil jacket cooling method, and so on. The spindle system is a motor-separated type composed of the main spindle and sub-spindle which are mechanically connected by the flexible coupling. The spindles are supported by two front and rear bearings, and the built-in motor is located between the front to and rear bearings of the sub-spindle. The thermal analysis model of HMC is constructed by the finite element method, and the thermal characteristics in the design stage are estimated based on temperature distribution and heat flow under the various testing conditions related to spindle speed and feed rate.

This paper presented on an environment estimation of cutting fluid which is a mouse model of acute bacterial rhinosinusitis using cutting fluid in grinding and cutting. Above results will be remarked the necessity of friendly environmental cutting skill when it had used in workshop. The results of a mouse experimental using cutting fluid showed that it are occurred to the respiratory organs sickness. Also cutting fluid are occurred to hurtfulness a person when it used to grinding and cutting in workshop. Also, the results of grinding experiments in avitation materials showed that surface roughness are superior to more emulsion type oil than vegetable type oil according to increase of the depth of cut. Grinding force are similar to both emulsion type oil and vegetable type oil.

The purpose of this paper is to further extend the theoretical understanding of the dynamic end milling process and to derive a computational model to predict the milling force components. A comparative assessment of different cutting force models is performed to demonstrate that the instantaneous shear plane based formulation is physically sound and offers the best agreement with experimental results. The procedure for the calculation of the model parameters used in the cutting force model, based on experimental data, has been presented. The validity of the proposed computational model has been experimentally verified through a series of cutting tests.

This paper presents an algorithm for general 2D and 3D NURBS interpolation and deals with command generation for 3 axes milling machining, including the feedrate control in order to meet two limitations, a geometrical accuracy and a dynamic restriction. Both of the maximum chordal error and the maximum acceleration specified by machine parameter lead to limit the allowable feedrate on the curvature of NURBS tool path. So, motion commands at every sampling time are continuously generated by those two limitations and programmed feedrate. Simulation results of interpolating several NURBS curves show that proposed NURBS algorithm is favorable in the machining free-form curve

This study shows how the change of helix angle for different helix angle end mill affects machining accuracy. It was verified that cutting forces are remarkably low when endmill has helix angle of different helix angle
$25^{\circ}\;, \; 31^{\circ}\; , \; 37^{\circ}$ and AE signals have less relationship with the chance of helix angle Moreover, as the number of rotations are increased, the AE signals are increased with the proportion to the number but cutting forces are inversely proportional to the rotation. -
A successful on-line monitoring system for conventional machining operations has the potential to reduce cost, guarantee consistency of product quality, improve productivity and provide a safer environment for the operator. In fee-shape machining, typical signs of tool problems such as vibration, noise, chip flow characteristics and visual signs are almost unnoticeable without the use of special equipment. These characteristics increase the importance of automatic monitoring in fine-shape machining; however, sensing and interpretation of signals are more complex. In addition, the shafts of the micro-tools break before the typical extensive cutting edge of the tool gets damaged. In this study, the existence of a relationship between the characteristics of the cutting force and tool usage was investigated, and tool breakage detection algorithm was developed and the fellowing results are obtained. In data analysis, didn't use a relative error compare which mainly used in established experiment and investigated tool breakage detection algorithm in time domain which can detect AE and cutting force signals more effective and accurate.

The technique of high speed machining is widely studied in machining field. In this study, TiAIN single-layered and TiAIN/TiN double-layered coatings were applied to end-mill by an arc ion plating technique. Their performances were comparatively studied about cutting force, tool wear, tool life and surface roughness of workpiece under high speed cutting conditions. The TiAIN single-layer coated tool showed higher wear-resistance due to its higher hardness, while the TiAIN/TiN double-layer coated tool showed better performance for high metal removal, i.e., high fled per tooth condition due to its higher toughness. The surface roughness of the workpiece was not influenced by the wear amount of coated tools.

This paper describes on the improvement of machining accuracy in high-speed machining. Depth of cut, feed rate and spindle revolution are control factors. The effect of the control factors on machining accuracy is discussed fur the results of surface roughness and machining error in Z-direction of the high speed machining.

At present most mechanical design engineers use the techniques that perform shape modeling, force analysis and DMU(Digital Mok-Up). This kind of design methods shorten the time of manufacturing prototypes and have a merit that decreases development cost. But a hydrauric system has inconvenience that engineers have to modify, and complement whenever needed, because simulation-based approaches are not ubiquitous compared to the case of general mechanical parts. This paper presents a case study of efficient application to hydrauric system for designing VRCS(Valve Remote Control System) using a Hycdraulic system design and analysis software.

Cooling characteristics for the three type spindles with high frequency motor are studied. For the analysis, three dimensional models are built considering heat transfer characteristics such as natural and forced convection coefficients. Unsteady-state temperature distributions and thermal deformations according to the cooling conditions are analyzed by using the finite element method.

In this paper, we develop a six-axes machining center tool(MCT) and CAD/CAM system based RAD Tool Program. The MCT consists of two mechanical parts, i.e., a X-Y-Z Cartesian coordinate typed MCT and a parallel-typed tilting table. Kinematics and singularity are accomplished to design the parallel-typed tilting table, and RAD Tool Program Is developed for the six-axes MCT, which requires the commands of position as well as orientation for machining of complex shape. In RAD Tool, the CAD/CAM system has a tool path generator, NC code generator and a graphic simulator. This paper designs the parallel-typed tilting table to meet the desired specification and presents the results of CAD/CAM system based RAD Tool Program.

This research has been carried out to experiment machining characteristics by elements addition and subtraction of AC8B and sample that is used fur car piston materials. 1.Mechanical properties of development sample expressed unique mechanical properties than AC8B. 2. Cutting resistance of development sample decreased about 10% than AC8B according to increase of the cutting speed. 3. According to increase of the feedrate, all comparison workpiece found that specific cutting resistance decrease. 4. It was found that sample's machining characteristics that is developed by addition and subtraction of elements improves.

In this study, we investigated the machinability of machinable ceramics which were developed by a research lab. of Inha Univ., Korea. The effect of the nozzle scanning times, the size of patterns and compositions of BN in ceramics on the erosion depth of samples with no mask and samples with three different mask pattern in powder blasting of machinable ceramics. The blasting conditions were the impact angles 90
$^{\circ}$ , scanning times of noble up to 30 and the stand-off distances 100mm. The widths of mask pattern were 0.1mm, 0.5mm and 1 mm. The powder was alumina sharp particles, WA#600. The mass flow rate of powder during the erosion test was fixed constant at 150g/min and the blasting pressure of powder at 0.25Mpa -

However, the real undeformed chip section area deviates from the geometrically ideal one owing to cutter runout and tool shape error. In this study, a method of estimating the real undeformed chip section area which reflects cutter runout and tool shape error was presented during up-end milling of Inconel 718 using measured cutting forces. The specific cutting resistance, K. and
$K_t$ are defined as the radial and tangential cutting forces divided by the modified chip section area. Both of$K_r$ , and$K_t$ values become smaller as the helix angle increases from$30^\circ$ to$40^\circ$ Whereas they become larder as the helix angle increases from$40^\circ$ to$50^\circ$ . On the other hand, the$K_r$ , and$K_t$ values show a tendency to decrease with increase of the modified chip section area and this tendency becomes distinct with smaller helix angle. -

Recently, new polishing tool which was made by magnetic intelligent compound(Magic) was invented. The distribution of abrasives in this new tool can be controlled by magnetic field. Therefore, we can make a special polishing tool which has well arranged abrasives after cooling. In this study, 3 dimensional polishing machine was developed in order to polish complicated - shaped inner surfaces of molds. The performance of developed machine was investigated by measuring the roughness of polished surface using new polishing tool.

This article describes (1) 2 and 3 dimensional electromagnetic finite element models for an active heteropolar radial magnetic bearing, (2) the procedure for obtaining the bearing stiffnesses by simulating the models and (3) the reviews of the models by comparing an experimental test to the ideal closed loop analysis with the stiffnesses calculated from (2). The 3 dimensional model for the magnetic bearing may be very effectively applied to several types of magnetic bearings.

자기베어링의 회전정밀도에 영향을 미치는 인자로 PWM 전력증폭기, 위치 센서 등과 같은 자기베어링 구성 장치의 동특성 및 정밀도, 시스템의 정확한 모델링, 제어기법, 런아웃 등이 있다. 본 연구에서는 능동 자기베어링을 제어하기 위해 자기베어링의 PWM 전력증폭기와 회전축을 모델링하고 이를 바탕으로 능동 자기베어링 제어를 위한 PID 제어기를 구성하였으며, 변위 센서의 부착위치 및 회전축의 진원도의 영향으로 발생하는 주기적인 런아웃 요소를 첨가하여 런아웃의 영향을 확인하였으며, 런아웃 (Runout)에 의해 발생하는 에러(Error)를 효과적으로 제어하여 자기베어링의 제어 정밀도를 향상시키기 위한 방법으로 기본적인 PID 제어기에 최소평균자승(Least Mean Square, LMS) 알고리즘을 적용한 적응 피드포워드 제어기를 구성하여 자기베어링의 능동 제어에서 발생하는 주기적인 런아웃을 효과적으로 제어할 수 있음을 MATLAB을 통한 시뮬레이션을 통해 확인하였다.

연삭 가공시 발생하는 채터는 정밀도 및 품질을 저하시킨다. 본 논문에서는 연삭가공시 작업시간에 따른 연삭 법선력 및 AE 신호의 거동을 관찰함으로써 (1) 연삭법선력의 수학적 모델은 그 진폭이 지수적으로 변하는 형태이고, (2) 그 지수가 음(minus)이 될 때가 체터 발생시점이며 (3) 이를 토대로 이론적으로 (2)를 규명할 수 있는 방법을 고찰하였다.

In this paper, an automated design system of suspension and steering parts is developed. The system automates the processes of 3-D modeling and 2-D drafting of the parts. In addition, the BOM and dimension data of the designed part is also automatically transferred to the database of ERP system. The system is developed by using the functions of parametric design and API(application Programming Interface) of the a commercial solid modeler.

Most of battery industries are growing explosively as a core strategy industry for the development of the semi-conductor, the LCD, and the mobile communication device. In this thesis, dynamic characteristics of the steel can labeling machine on the automatic cell assembly line are studied. Dynamic characteristic analysis consists of dynamic behavior analysis and finite element analysis and is necessary for effective design of machines. In the dynamic behavior analysis, the displacement, velocity, applied force and angular velocity of each components are simulated according to each part. In the FEA, stress analysis, mode analysis, and frequency analysis are performed for each part. The results of these simulations are used for the design specification investigation and compensation for optimal design of cell manufacturing line. Therefore, Virtual Engineering of the steel can labeling machine on the automatic cell assembly line systems are modeled and simulated. 3D motion behavior is visualized under real-operating condition on the computer window. Virtual Prototype make it possible to save time by identifying design problems early in development, cut cost by reducing making hardware prototype, and improve quality by quickly optimizing full-system performance. As the first step of CAE which integrates design, dynamic modeling using ADAMS and FEM analysis using NASTRAN are developed.

An automobile hub is composed of a hollow cylindrical part with inner and outer diameters. These hub diameters must be precise, as any irregularities in them (diameters) can influence/degrade the motion of an automobile with this problem. Highly accurate and reliable hub inner and outer diameters measurement systems are therefore required for inspection of the diameters. In this research, an automobile hub inner and outer diameters measurement system has been developed and tested. The system consists of measuring heads with LVDT sensors, and associated software for automatic measurement and calibration of the diameters and the sensors respectively. The system has been evaluated in comparison with an existing measurement system, and the following outcomes have been achieved; .Improved and guaranteed quality and reliability .Increased productivity and cost reduction. These results prove the system developed in this research to be suitable for automobile hub inspection.

The results of source location in terms of AE signal occurred by the spot exciting as suggested in this research, it has been confirmed that AE technique is quite fruitful in figuring out the location of the occurrence, form, size and direction of the defects. Thus, it is expected that the application of the experimental method suggested in this study would make it possible to identify, in the nondestructive way, the location of the defect in the material.

In this paper, we developed a Widows 98 version off-line programming system which can simulate a track vehicle model in 3D graphics space. The track vehicle was adopted as an objective model. The interface between users and the off-line program system in the Widows 98's graphic user interface environment was also studied. The developing language is Microsoft Visual C++. Graphic libraries, OpenGL, by Silicon Graphics, Inc. were utilized for 3D Graphics.

In this paper, we have proposed a new approach to the design of robot vision system to develop the technology for the automatic test and assembling of precision mechanical and electronic parts for the factory automation. In order to perform real time implementation of the automatic assembling tasks in the complex processes, we have developed an intelligent control algorithm based-on neural networks control theory to enhance the precise motion control. Implementing of the automatic test tasks has been performed by the real-time vision algorithm based-on TMS320C31 DSPs. It distinguishes correctly the difference between the acceptable and unacceptable defective item through pattern recognition of parts by the developed vision algorithm. Finally, the performance of proposed robot vision system has been illustrated by experiment for the similar model of fifth cell among the twelve cell for automatic test and assembling in S company.

This paper presents a new scheme of neural network controller to improve the robustuous of robot manipulator using digital signal processors. Digital signal processors, DSPs, are micro-processors that are particularly developed for fast numerical computations involving sums and products of variables. Digital version of most advanced control algorithms can be defined as sums and products of measured variables, thus it can be programmed and executed through DSPs. In addition, DSPs are as fast in computation as most 32-bit micro-processors and yet at a fraction of their prices. These features make DSPs a viable computational tool in digital implementation of sophisticated controllers. During past decade it was proposed the well-established theorys for the adaptive control of linear systems, but there exists relatively little general theory for the adaptive control of nonlinear systems. Perforating of the proposed controller is illustrated. This paper describes a new approach to the design of adaptive controller and implementation of real-time control for assembling robotic manipulator using digital signal processor. Neural networks are used in the framework of sensorbased tracking control of robot manipulators. They learn by practice movements the relationship between PSD (an analog Position Sensitive Detector) sensor readings for target positions and the joint commands to reach them. Using this configuration, the system can track or follow a moving or stationary object in real time. forthermore, an efficient neural network architecture has been developed for real time learning. This network uses multiple sets of simple backpropagation networks one of which is selected according to which division (corresponding to a cluster of the self-organizing feature map) in data space the current input data belongs to. This lends itself to a very training and processing implementation required for real time control.

Pneumatic tires usually contain a variety of rubber compositions, each designed to contribute some particular factor to overall performance. Rubber compounds designed for a specific function will usually be similar but not identical In composition and properties. Since 1970`s finite element analysis of tire has been performed extensively, which requires some energy density functions of rubber components of a tire. The conventional Mooney-Rivlin material model is one of the description that is commonly used in the analysis of tire. In this paper, we report the two material constants of gooney-Rivlin material model for some rubber compounds of a real pneumatic tire, which are obtained through uniaxial tension test.

A winding bend rig is designed to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional bend rig for measuring springback ratio of a strip or plate. Using the present bend rig, springback ratios are measured and they are compared with ones that obtained by using simple beam theory and tensile test. Theoretically, there should be no difference between the two values as far as the simple beam theory holds true for the bending test. But, within the scope of our tests, there is a difference of 5% between the two values since the specimen under bend test is subjected to a transverse shear force and friction force on the surface of the specimen.

This appearances have a short life of cylinder and is due to system destruction. This study examines the dynamic characteristics of pneumatic cushioning cylinder and cushion sleeve design. At head part cushion chamber for the vertical experimental, The decisions of cushioning effect and the results of the experimental research are obtained to the followings: i) The cushioning effects could acqure to the reserch, if the compressible energy is more than kinetic ones. ii) The collision of piston and head cover could acqure to the research, if the kinetic energy is more than compressible iii) If the load increase to the rolling car, the cushion region pressures would increase and the dynamic force.

${\psi}80{\times}500^{st}$ )의 쿠션장치인 쿠션슬리브(${\psi}20{\times}28^{st}$ ) 4종(Model #a, Model #b, Model #c, Model #d) 모델을 제작하여 수직하강하는 실린더에 각각 장착한 후, 각 모델에 따라 압력과 부하 특성을 비교하였다. 동일한 실험조건인 공급압력($5kg_{f}/$\textrm{cm}^2$ )과 부하하중($70kg_{f}$ )에서 각 모델별 실험을 실행하였다. 각 모델별 실험에서, Model #c의 쿠션슬리브인 경우가 가장 적합한 형상임을 알 수 있었다. -
Pneumatic system has been mainly used as main equipment for actuation and control of compressed air force in manufacturing industry, pneumatic circuit for the most part is used in Meter-Out circuit. Meter-Out circuit method is Flow Control Valve to fit in exhaust part of cylinder port. In the reverse, Meter-In circuit is Flow Control Valve to fit in input part of cylinder port. This study examines the dynamic characteristics comparison of Meter-In and Meter-Out Circuits in the pneumatic circuits. The results of the experimental research are obtained to the followings: i ) System Response is Meter-In Circuit more than Meter-Out one before cushion zone. ii) we conjectured that the collision of piston and head cover is ease to collide Meter-In Circuit more than Meter-Out one at the stroke end part.

This paper describes the properties of Temperature-Viscosity characteristics of hydrous and anhydrous ER fluids containing starch and titanium particle in silicone oil. ER effects arise from electrostatic forces between the starch particles and titanium particles dispersed in the electrically insulating silicone oil induced when electric field is applied. ER fluids under electric field have been found to provide resonable estimates of ER fluid viscosity variation characteristics. Yield shear stress of the ER fluids were measured on the couette cell type rheometer as a function of electric fields. The outer cup is connected to positive electrode(+) and bob becomes ground(-). The electric field is applied by high voltage DC power supply. In this experiment shear rates were increased from 0 to 200/equation omitted/ in 2 minutes.

In this paper, we proposed a recurrent time delayed neural network controller which compensate a output of neural network controller. Even if learn by neural network controller, it can occur an bad results from disturbance or load variations. So in order to adjust above case, we used the fuzzy compensator to get an expected results. And the weight of main neural network can be changed with the result of learning a inverse model neural network of plant, so a expected dynamic characteristics of plant can be got. As the results of simulation through the second order plant, we confirmed that the proposed recurrent time delayed neural network controller get a good response compare with a time delayed neural network controller.

The Field Robot means the machinery applied for outdoor tasks in construction, agriculture and undersea etc. In this study, to field-robotize a hydraulic excavator that is mostly used in construction working, we have developed an automatic excavation system and adaptive control system. A model- reference adaptive controller has been designed on the model that is obtained through off-line System Identification. It is illustrated by computer simulations that the proposed control system gives good performances in the trajectory tracking control and adaptation to parameter variation.

The purpose of this paper is the development of guidance algorithm for a mobile robot which is used to acquire the position and state information of the pipe defects such as crack, damage and through hole. The data used for the algorithm is the range data obtained by the range sensor which is based on an optical triangulation method. The sensor, which consists of a laser slit beam and a CCD camera, measures the 3D profile of the pipe's inner surface. After setting the range sensor on the robot, the robot is put into a pipe. While the camera and the LSB sensor part is rotated about the robot axis, a laser slit beam (LSB) is projected onto the inner surface of the pipe and a CCD camera captures the image. From the images the range data is obtained with respect to the sensor coordinate through a series of image processing and applying the sensor matrix. After the data is transformed into the robot coordinate, the position and orientation of the robot should be obtained in order to guide the robot. In addition, analyzing the data, 3D shape of the pipe is constructed and the numerical data for the defects of the pipe can be found. These data will be used for pipe maintenance and service.

When the fuzzy controller apply to a real plant, We have not excepted result of a satisfactory control by modeling error and lacking information about an plant. In this case, we have to adjust the scale factors for improvement of the control performance and this method need a lot of time and cost for perform a trial and error. In this paper, we proposed the fuzzy controller with the automatic adjustment of scaling factors. It was improve upon the control performance using a adequate scale factor by fuzzy logic and normalizer. As the results of simulation through the second order plant, we confirmed that the proposed the fuzzy controller within the function of automatic scale get a good response compare with the fuzzy controller within the fixed scale factor.

The optical-components manufacturing process is composed of 3 operation processes; optical sub assembly process, package assembly process, and fiber assembly process. Each process is managed not a batch mode, which is one of most popular manufacturing styles to produce a great deal of industrial output, but though a modular cell. In the processes, a modular cell has to be processed independently of the other cells. Optimization for the composition of assembly cell in the optical-components system is made by the Visual factory model.

The LQG/LTR controller is a robust and stable control which is systematic method with a view of engineering. And the H$^{\infty}$ scheme is adopted for the design of the controller to reduce the effects of the disturbances. In this paper, LQG/LTR and H$^{\infty}$ Controller Design of Lateral Control System for an Automobile is developed with 3 DOF (degree-of-freedom) model. The performance has been compared for the employed two types of controllers via computed simulations. The results show that the H$^{\infty}$ controller provides more robustness property for the disturbances and lower control input. -
The purpose of this paper is to implement a guidance system for an object on the road. A watch camera equipped on the auto door recognizes the direction for the destination of an object, after that it determines whether opening or closing the door, and then the door is opened automatically, based on the decision. The motion of the moving object is approximated by using the technique of the image processing of tracking images and the affine model. The direction of the moving object is predicted from image information obtained by applying linear Kalman filter to the motion estimation in order to reduce the search region, the moving position, and the direction of the center of the object. Along with the guidance function, the system has the announcing function to the object. The experimental results confirm the veridity and applicability of the proposed system.

The looper control of hot strip finishing mill is one of the most important control item In hot strip rolling mill process. Loopers are placed between finishing mill stands and control the mass flow of the two stands. Another important action of the looper is to control the strip tension which influences on the width of the strip. So it is very important to control both the looper angle and the strip tension simultaneously but the looper angle and the strip tension are strongly interacted by each other. The gain scheduling is to break the control design process into two steps. First, one designs local linear controllers based on linerizations of the nonlinear system at several different operating conditions. Second, a global nonlinear controller for the nonlinear system is obtained by interpolating.

The 3-dimensional measuring machine by using an ultrasonic sensor, which measure 1-dimensional information and 2-dimensional information simultaneously from a target of inspection, and then reembody 3-dimensional information. So we can find the situation in progress and predict remaining life and corrosion without destructive examination. It's a point of excellence that the 3-dimensional measuring machine is portable.

This paper begin a new approach in the water-gate controller using radio communication. The dissertation is on the controllable device development of water-gate in the remote distance from water-gate trough the transceiver by radio communication. The proposed water-gate control device is simple in structure, an suitable for implementation of water-gate control in the remote distance. The remote controller water-gate device inspected the up and down motion of water-gate through the LCD displayer, so that it was very safety driving about the surroundings information, over loading and position of water-gate, and so on.

This paper presents a dynamic modeling and a robust PID controller design process for the wire bonder head assembly. For the modeling elements, the system is divided into electrical system, magnetic system, and mechanical system. Each system is modeled by using the bond graph method. The PID controller is used for high speed/high accuracy position control of the wire bonder assembly. The Taguchi method is used to evaluate the more robust PID gain combinations than conventional one. This study makes use of an L18 array with three parameters varied on three levels. Computer simulations and experimental results show that the designed PID controller provides more improved signal to noise ratio and reduced sensitivity than the conventional PID controller.

In order to achieve high precision machine tools, the research for performance enhancement of feed drive systems is required. Development of the high speed feed drive system has been a major issue for the past few decades in machine tool industries. The reduction of the tool change time as well as rapid travel time can enhance the productivity. However, the high speed feed drive system generates more heat in nature, which leads thermal expansion that has adverse effects on the accuracy of machined parts. Stick-slip friction has a great influence on the contouring accuracy of CNC machine tools. In this paper table levitation system has been developed for the stick-slip in a feed drive systems. And also, the driving position is set near the center of the main slideway. From the results, it is confirmed that yaw error and straightness can be improved.

There are two important variables in machining process control, which are feed and cutting speed. In this work, a two degree-of-freedom controller is designed and implemented to achieve on-line cutting force control and position control based on the modelling of cutting process dynamics which are established through step response test. Two schemes are proposed and implemented. The first is feed control under the constant spindle speed and spindle speed control under the constant feed speed. The second is a simultaneous control of feed and spindle speed. The last performs a position control under the constant cutting force. Those are confirmed to work properly. Especially the latter shows a faster response.

This work is concerned with the estimation of output derivatives and their use for the design of robust controller for linear systems with systems uncertainties due to modeling errors and disturbance. It is assumed that a nominal transfer function model and Quantitative bounds for system uncertainties are known. The developed control schemes are shown to achieve regulation of the system output and ensures boundedness of the system states without imposing any structural conditions on system uncertainties and disturbances. Output derivative estimation is first conducted trough restructuring of the plant in a specific parameterization. They are utilized for constructing robust nonlinear high-gain feedback controller of a SMC(Sliding Mode Controller) Type. The performances of the developed controller are evaluated and shown to be effective and useful through simulation study.

In this paper, it is presented a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of fuzzy control system based-on digital signal processors in order to improve the precision and robustness for system of industrial robot. Fuzzy control has emerged as one of the most active and fruitful areas for research in the applications of fuzzy set theory, especially in the real of industrial processes. In this thesis, a self-organizing fuzzy controller or the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy logic composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variable of the controller, In the synthesis of a FLC, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult, SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic level and high level that modify control rules.

In this paper, we propose a remote controller for robot manipulator using local area network(LAN) and internet. To do this, we develope a server-client system as used in the network field. The client system is in any computer in remote place for the user to log-in the server and manage the remote factory. the server system is a computer which controls the manipulator and waits for a access from client. The server system consists of several control algorithms which is needed to drive the manipulator and networking system to transfer images that shows states of the work place, and to receive a Tmp data to run the manipulator The client system consists of 3D(dimension) graphic user interface for teaching and off-line task like simulation, external hardware interface which makes it easier for the user to teach. Using this server-client system, the user who is on remote place can edit the work schedule of manipulator, then run the machine after it is transferred and monitor the results of the task.

The equipment of industrial robot in manufacturing and assembly lines has rapidly increased. In order to achieve high productivity and flexibility, it becomes very important to develop the visual feedback control system with Off-Line Programming System(OLPS ). We can save much efforts and time in adjusting robots to newly defined workcells by using Off-Line Programming System. A proposed visual calibration scheme is based on position-based visual feedback. The visual calibration system is composed of a personal computer, an image processing board, a video monitor, and one camera. The calibration program firstly generates predicted images of objects in an assumed end-effector position. The process to generate predicted images consists of projection to screen-coordinates, visible range test, and construction of simple silhouette figures. Then, camera images acquired are compared with predicted ones for updating position and orientation data. Computation of error is very simple because the scheme is based on perspective projection, which can be also expanded to experimental results. Computation time can be extremely reduced because the proposed method does not require the precise calculation of tree-dimensional object data and image Jacobian.

In this paper, it Is presented a new scheme of adaptive-neuro control system to implement real-time control of robot manipulator. Unlike the well-established theory for the adaptive control of linear systems, there exists relatively little general theory for the adaptive control of nonlinear systems. Adaptive control technique is essential for providing a stable and robust performance for application of robot control. The proposed neuro control algorithm is one of learning a model based error back-propagation scheme using Lyapunov stability analysis method. Through simulation, the proposed adaptive-negro control scheme is proved to be a efficient control technique for real-time control of robot system using DSPs.

In press forming of sheet metals, the material sheet is usually subjected to very large plastic strain under in-plane stressing. Moreover, the sheet also very often is subjected to out-of-plane compressive force between tools such as the upper and lower dies, the blank holder and the die, and so forth. In this paper, it is clearly demonstrated theoretically that out-of-plane stress may notably raise the forming limit strain and thus it cm be effectively utilized to avoid earlier fracture of the sheet in press forming.

Abrasive water-jet(AWJ) machining is a new cutting technology. The AWJ can cut various materials touch as metal, glass and stone. However, the AWJ machining makes troubles including kerf, rounding and side taper. In this study, we investigated the correlation between parameters of abrasive water-jet machining arid cutting characteristics. The machining parameter were the material thickness and the traverse speed. The experiment was conducted to cut the stainless steel(STS41) and the mild steel(SS41) specimens. The results of the experiment weirs presented as the relation between cutting conditions and trouble of a dimension error, a conner error, an uncut width and a kerf.

Fused deposition(FD) modeling by Stratasys Inc., is one of the material deposition subfamilies of solid freefrom fabrication(SFF) technologies. In this process, build material in the form of a flexible filament, is heated to a semi-liquid state and extruded from a controlled deposition head onto a fixtureless table in a temperature controlled environment. The position of nozzle is computer controlled relative to the base, which allows geometric complex models to be made to precise dimensions. FDM provide what the part was directly tested by the worker. It provide believable data. This Study is identify to surface roughness by build orientation adjustment. Ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials because of its high strength and hardness. Their machining mechanism is characterized by cracking and brittle fracture. In this paper, to give good machinability to the ceramics, BN powders are added to Si
$_3$ N$_4$ by volume of 20, 25 and 30%. And the machiniability of the produced ceramics are tested using micro drilling system. Through required experimental works, it is shown that the micro drilling machinability is varied along with the volumetric percentage of BN powders. Also, it is verified that the obtained results can be used to develop new machinable ceramics of good material properties and machinability. -
Recently, the need leer transporting and manipulating minute amount of fluids in microscale channels (so-called micro-fluidics) has been increasing, especially in biotechnology and biochemical processing. This work demonstrates that the mechano-chemical process which consists of mechanical abrasive action combined with chemical process can be used to fabricate micro-fluidic channels more rapidly and cost effectively than other methods. In this work, capillary filling of fluids in micro-channels was investigated by theoretical approaches and experiments. From the experimental results, it is expected that a complex micro-fluidic system can be fabricated using the micro- fabrication technique and microsystem packaging method described in this work.

In this paper we developed the MPC sensor for steering control and steering control of the AGVDS(Autonomous Guided Vehicle Driving System) for Durability test. Among durability tests, the accelerated durability test has been widely used to evaluate the durability of vehicle structure and chassis parts in a short period of time on the designed road that has severe surface conditions. However it increased the drivers fatigue mainly caused by the severe driving conditions. The driver's difficulty to maintain the constant speed and control the steering wheel reduces the reliability of test results. In addition to the general detecting sensor for steering control was restricted by surrounding condition. So we need to develop steering control sensor was robust in the bad driving condition. In this paper we developed steering control sensor using magnetic induction which is robust in the bad driving condition and implemented the AGVDS.

In hot strip mills, Portable Roll Scanner (the portable roll surface temperature and profile measuring device) can be used to calibrate on-line Process models for strip crown and flatness by measuring the thermal expansion and wear profile of the rolls. And the surface temperature measurement can be used to optimize the roll cooling system. Portable Roll Scanner consists of the measuring device, which has two contact inductive distance transducers for roll profile measurement and one infrared Pyrometer for surface temperature measurement, and computer-based controller that is equipped with the measuring device. By the wireless data communication, the data is transferred to the memory of notebook for further analysis. After roll extraction from mills, Portable Roll Scanner measure the roll profile and surface temperature simultaneously along the work roll face and display the results in the TFT color monitor of notebook. Portable Roll Scanner is useful at mill-side and roll grinding shop.

The purpose of this paper is a study on getting proper gain set of PID controller which satisfies multi-performance specifications of the control system. The multi-objective optimization method is introduced to evaluate specifications, and the genetic algorithm is used as an optimal problem solver. To enhance the performance of genetic algorithm itself, adaptive technique is included. According to the proposed method in this paper, finding suitable gain set can be more easily accomplishable than manual gain seeking and tuning.

In the previous study, a polishing robot system was developed to automate the polishing process and to cope with the shortage of skilled workers. This polishing robot system has several advantages: reduced time for setting polishing work, decreased labor costs, effective operation, continuous polishing work without an operator, improved machine accuracy, and the ability to polish a free curved surface die. However, still the problem remains that a worker must stay to monitor the polishing process in the poor working conditions for a long time. Nowadays some advanced manufacturing companies need to find a way to check the performance of their production equipments and plants from remote sites. Thus, this study constructed the communication network and developed the monitoring programs (a servo program and a client program) to operate the polishing robot from remote sites. Using these programs, workers are able to monitor and control the polishing robot on the web page, in any place where internet service is possible. To guarantee a stable operation in spite of a variable computer operating environment, the monitoring system is implemented in Java. The experimental results showed that the developed monitoring programs provided a stable communication.

The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimization machining condition for the wire electric machine. This was completed by examining the ever- changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge. Generally, the use of robots in manufacturing industry has been increased during the past decade. GMA(Gas Metal Are) welding is an actively growing area and many new procedures have been developed for use with high strength alloys. One of the basic requirement for welding applications is to study relationships between process parameters and bead geometry. The objective of this paper is to develop a new approach involving the use of neural network and multiple regression methods in the prediction of bead geometry for GMA welding process and to develop an intelligent system that enables the prediction of bead geometry using Rapid Prototyping(RP) in order to employ the robotic GMA welding processes. This system developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK, could be effectively implemented not only for estimating bead geometry, but also employed to monitor and control the bead geometry in real time.

In the cutting of plate steel, the quality of the cut surfaces is strongly dependent on the cutting conditions such as cutting speed, kerf width, plate thickness, length of tip-specimen and oxygen pressure etc. the cutting tests of plate steel were carried out using CNC gas cutting machine. this paper deals with cutting characteristics of plate steel using CNC cutting machine. the width of cutting entrance and exit, the surface roughness of cutting surfaces and the cutting surface are examined at various cutting conditions.

In recent days the more use of CFRP composite is in the airplane, automobile, and sport goods , etc., the more necessity of research on it in this engineering. In this research, the CFRP composite specimen are fabricated by 48 CFRP plies with 8 orientation angles, and the specimens are drilled with 3 tools. The results are analyzed with consideration of cutting force, type of tools and fabrication condition. The specimens with each drilling conditions are also investigated with SEM. The optimal drilling conditions such as drill types and cutting fence with respect to the fabricating condition are studied.

This study is performed to develop the Si
$_3$ N$_4$ based ceramic inserts. Si$_3$ N$_4$ with addition of SiC and A1$_2$ O$_3$ is investigated to determine the possibility to be a new tool. The tool life of Si$_3$ N$_4$ insert with more than 20wt% SiC is shorter than commercial Si$_3$ N$_4$ insert during machining both heat treated SCM440 and gray cast iron. Even though SiC has higher hardness than Si$_3$ N$_4$ , its chemical affinity to the iron on high temperature may causes deteriorat ion of tool life. To the contrary, Si$_3$ N$_4$ insert with A1$_2$ O$_3$ shows increase of tool life up to 300% compared to the commercial Si$_3$ N$_4$ insert. It may attribute to the high temperature stability of A1$_2$ O$_3$ . Further study will be focused on the optimization of ceramic inserts with the composition of Si$_3$ N$_4$ and A1$_2$ O$_3$ . -
Mirror surface finish of Si-wafers has been achieved by rotary in-feed machining with cup-type wheels in ELID grinding. But the diameter of the workpiece is limited with the diameter of grinding wheel in the in-feed machining method. In this study, grinding experiments by the rotary surface grinding machine with straight type wheels ware conducted, by which the possible grinding area of the workpiece is independent of the diameter of the wheels. For the purpose of investigating the grinding characteristics of large scale diametrical silicon wafer, grinding conditions such as rotation speed of grinding wheels and revolution of workpieces are varied, and grinding machine used in this experiment is rotary type surface grinding n/c equipment with an ELID wit. The surface ground using the SD8000 wheels showed that mirror like surface roughness can be attained near 2 - 6 nm in Ra.

In the recent years, as the research and the development of micro and precision machinery become active, the interest of micro actuators using SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) has been increased. The dynamic characteristic analysis of SMA is necessary for actuator application and many common researches report the material characteristics of SMA sufficiently. However, the research on dynamic characteristics is very deficient. In this paper, the helical spring are fabricated with NiTi SMA wire of high resistivity. The force, response speed, temperature, and displacement are measured by digital force gauge, infrared thermometer, and laser displacement sensor so that the dynamic characteristics of this SMA is analyzed. Also, bidirectional actuator was fabricated and experimented for its performance.

This study predicts the sensitivity coefficient by the change of dynamic Characteristics of the Structure. The method is applied to examples of a cantilever and 3 degree of freedom lumped mass model by modifying the mass and stiffness. The predicted the sensitivity coefficient are in good agreement with these from the structural reanalysis using the modified mass and stiffness.

This paper reviews the existing methods to divide the gear ratios of a multi-stage gear train, and proposes a simulated annealing-based algorithm to find the best gear ratios. The existing methods have their own limitations to be used in practical design, and are also problematic to be automated in a design system. However, the proposed algorithm is a general one which can be applied to gear trains having any number of stages, and offers a satisfactory result in a very short time. It is expected to be useful as a design sub-module of the design system for multi-stage gear drives.
