Interannual and decadal scale body size of Pacific saury, catch and catch per unit effort were examined to investigate the environmental effects on the stock structure and abundance in the Tsushima Warm Current region. Interannual changes in thermal conditions are responsible for the different occurrence (catch) rates of sized group of the fish. Changes in body size due to environmental variables lead the stock to be homogeneous during the period of high abundance, while one of the reminder cohorts supports the stock during the period of low level of abundance. Migration circuits of two cohorts of saury stock are hypothesized on the basis of short life span and spatio-temporal changes in stock structure in normal environmental conditions. Changes in upper ocean structure and production cycles by the decadal scale climate changes lead changes in stock structure and recruitment, resulting in the fluctuation of saury abundance. Hypothesized mechanism of the effects of climate changes on the stock structure and abundance is illustrated on the basis of changes in thermal regime and production cycle.

Of the 20 arbitrarily chosen primers, six oligonucleotides decamer primers were used on the basis of the number of the polymorphisms generated in catfish (Silurus asotus) from Yesan and bullhead (Pseudobagrus fulvidraco) from Dangjin in Korea. Six primers were used generating a total of 602 scorable bands in catfish and 195 in bullhead population, respectively, ranging in size of DNA fragments from less than approximately 100 to larger than 2,000 base pairs (bp). Six primers yielded 199 polymorphic fragments (33.1 %) in catfish and 47 (24 %) in bullhead, respectively. In the present study, a total of 328 common fragments (an average of 54.7 per prime.) were observed in catfish population, whereas 84 (an average of 14.0 per prime.) in bullhead. The total number of specific fragments in catfish and bullhead population were 76and 64, respectively.

난생 경골어류의 성분화는 내인성 및 외인성 성스테로이드 호르몬의 영향을 받는 것으로 알려져 있지만, 해산 태생 경골어류의 성분화 과정에서 성스테로이드 호르몬의 작용은 아직 명확하게 밝혀져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 유용 양식어종의 하나인 해산 태생어류 조피볼락 Sebastes schlegeli를 대상으로 이 종의 성분화에 미치는 성스테로이드 호르몬의 영향을 조사하였다. 실험에 사용한 조피볼락은 출산후 일령 45일 전후의 성이 미분화한 개체들이었다. 실험어는 3개 실험군으로 나누어 (각각 3반복), 1개월간 각각 estradiol-l7
${\beta}$ 또는 methyltestosterone을 처리하였고, 하나의 실험군은 호르몬 처리를 하지 않았다 처리기간 동안에는 각 실험군으로부터 무작위 sampling을 실시하여, 호르몬 처리에 따른 체내 성스테로이드 호르몬 변화를 조사하였으며, 각 실험군의생식소 분화과정을 조직학적으로 조사하였다. 성스테로이드 호르몬은 diethylether로 추출한후, rndioirmmunoassay 방법 (RIA)으로 분석하였다. 실험결과 대조구의 실험어는 1:1의 자연성비에 부합하는 성분화 결과를 나타내었지만, estradiol-17${\beta}$ 처리구는 자성화, methyltestosterone 처리구는 웅성화하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 이러한 성분화 shift는 외부에서 투여한 호르몬이 실재 내부호르몬양의 변화를 초래하여 이루어졌음이 RIA 분석에 의해 부분적으로 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 해산 태생 경골어류의 성분화 역시 성스테로이 드호르몬의 작용에 의하여 매개 또는 조절되어진다는 사실을 제시한다. 하지만 태생어류에서 이 호르몬의 실질적 작용 메카니즘 및 명확한 작용시기에 대해서는 보다 많은 연구가 요구되어 진다.을 설계하는 것이 가능하였다.적(最適) 온도(溫度)는$30^{\circ}C$ , avicelase와${\beta}-glucosidase$ 의 최적(最適) pH는 5.0, CMCase는 pH 5.5 이었으며, 균사(菌絲) 생육(生育)은 pH 5.0에서 양호(良好)하였다. 배양(培養) 기간(期間)은 avicelase가 8일(日), CMCase가 10일(日),${\beta}-glucosidase$ 는 16 일간(日間) 배양(培養)하였을 때 최대치(最大値)를 보였고, 균사(菌絲) 생육(生育)은 12일(日) 배양(培養)했을 때 가장 양호(良好)하였다.가한 반면, 중국인들은 고소한 향의 강도, 고소한 향의 기호도, 전체적인 맛에서 뚜렷하게 일본참기름을 우수하게 평가하였다.s의 항체(抗體)로 반응(反應)시킨 후 protein-A gold(15 nm)로 표식(標識)시킨 바 제일 바깥 상층(上層)의 keratinocyte에 있어서 세포막표면(細胞膜表面)을 따라 표식(標識)되어 세포막항원(細胞膜抗元)을 나타내었으며, 이와 같은 소견(所見)으로 미루어 정상피부(正常皮膚) 중층편평상피세포(重層扁平上皮細胞)에서도 동일(同一)한 소견(所見)을 관찰(觀察)할 수 있다고 본다.al remnants, Resorption of fetus로 관찰된 것이다. Pathological conditions of Pacific oysters were surveyed in some coastal areas of Korea. Samples of 30 to 45 oysters were collected in Kamakman, Masan and in Gosung Bay. Protozoan includes gregarine-like organism, Marteilioides chungmuensis, Haplosporidium; ciliates Ancitrocoma and Metazoa (termatode, nematode, copepod) were observed in samples from most of the sampling areas. Marteilioides chungmuensis was found in all sampling sites. Protozoan, Halosporidium sp. and Ancistrocoma sp. occurred in oysters from Gosung Bay (year 2000) with very low prevalence. Trematode Gymnophalloides was frequently found in oysters from all studied areas. Inflammation was frequently observed in oysters infected with M. chungmuensis and Pseudomyicola. The damaged structures were found in digestive tubes of oysters infected by Halosporidium sp. and Pseudomyicola sp. Some of the parasites and pathological status could associate with the conditions of oysters and the environment.

A terrestrial cave snail (Gastropoda: Subulinidae), Sinistras chois n. gen., n. sp., from the Gungi-cave in Jeju Island, South Korea represents a monotypic genus, and is proposed as a new genus in the family Subulinidae. Diagnostic features of the genus include a sinistral shell, that has a minute-sized, elongate conic-shaped, apical microsculpture with low tubercles. The chromosome number and karyotype are 2n=56 and 8M+15SM+5ST, respectively.

Venus clam, Protothaca jedoensis was collected in lune 2003 from Yosu, Korea. The prevalence and infection intensity of Perkinsus was determined by Ray's Fluid thioglycollate medium technique and Choi's 2 M NaOH digestive assay. The prevalence of infection was 80% in Yosu; 54.2% in Taejon and 15.5% in Sachon. Consequently, infection intensity was highest in clams from Yosu (6250
${\pm}$ 8188 Perkinsus cells/g of tissue) whereas lower levels were found in Taejon (5072${\pm}$ 10862 Perkinsus cells/g of tissue) and in Sachon (2452${\pm}$ 15300 Perhnsus cells/g of tissue). Histological observation showed that Perkinsus presented in mantle, gills, digestive tubes and gonad of clams. The hemocytic infiltrations and tissue damages were found in heavy Perkinsus-infected clams. Results after immunofluorescence staining with antibody developed from Perkinsus atlanticus suggested that there is closed relationship between Perkinsus found in Venus clam and Manila clam. -
Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarum, is commercially and ecologically important marine bivalve in Korea and japan. However, clam landings in the two countries have dramatically declined since the 1980-1990's. In the present study, the protozoan parasite, Perkinsus sp., lectin (host's defense-related glycoprotein) and histopathological features were investigated in Manila clams collected from Gomso Bay in Korea and Ariake Bay in japan (one of the largest clam beds in each country) during summer and fall, 2002-2003. DNA sequences of non-transcribe spacer (NTS), internal transcribed space. (ITS) and 5.85 rRNA of Perkinsus sp. were identical to those of P. atlanticus that was reported in Europe and Korea. For diagnosis of Perkinsus, the fluid thioglycollate medium (FTM) and the 2 M NaOH lysis methods were used. Prevalence of the parasite varied from 92.5-98.7% in Gomso Bay and 35.5-37.9% in Ariake Bay. Infection intensity, in terms of the number of Perkinsuscells per gram tissue wet weight, in the clams of Gomso Bay in fall 2002 averaged 1,010,077-470,937 recording approximately100 times higher than that of Ariake Bay, and these were twice higher than those of summer samples in each location. Mean hemagglutination titer of the clams from Gomso Bay was approximately 60-folds higher than that of clams from Ariake Bay in 2002. In histological preparation of the clams from Gomso Bay in 2002, trophozoites of P. atlanticus were in groups and resulted in severe inflammatory response of host clam. Prevalence of the trematod, Cercaria tapes-like in the clams of Gomso Bay and Ariake Bay were 8.8 % and 10.5% respectively. In conclusion, the clams from Gomso Bay showed more severe pathologic symptoms and higher immune response than those of the clams from Ariake Bay.
