Survey on Teachers' Perception and Operational State for Elementary Science Online Remote Classes (초등 과학 온라인 수업 운영에 대한 교사들의 인식과 운영실태)

  • The aims of this study were to do a survey on teachers' perception and operational state for elementary science online remote classes and suggest ways to improve the elementary science online remote classes. The survey was based on responses from 100 teachers who have taught elementary science online remote classes for the first semester of 2020 for COVID-19. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of four parts: general informations of participants, the operation status of elementary science online remote classes, teachers' perceptions on the operation of elementary science online remote classes, ways to improve elementary science online remote classes. As a result of this study, elementary teachers taught elementary science online remote classes on the main use of content utilization type. And they had a difficulty in conducting elementary science online remote classes because of lack of contents, absence of elementary science online remote classes teaching methods, learner management and heavy workload. Therefore, to improve elementary science online remote classes the Ministry of Education and regional offices of education have to develop and provide high-quality contents reflect the characteristics of elementary science subjects, introduce a rent-an-experiment equipment system, and build a science class platform providing frequent real-time interaction between teacher and student.

The Future Direction of University Liberal Arts Classes in the Post-COVID-19 Era (포스트 코로나 시대 대학 교양영어 수업의 나아갈 방향)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the future direction of university liberal arts classes at a time when many educational institutions have returned to face-to-face instruction as social distancing related to COVID-19 has been eliminated. A survey was conducted with 187 college students who took a liberal arts class that included a combination of online and in-person classes. The results found that learners were generally satisfied with remote learning (87.8%). The reasons for this high level of satisfaction included sufficient comprehension of class content, systematic class progress, and the efficiency and convenience of learning in a remote environment. Satisfaction levels for in-person classes (66%) were relatively lower than those for remote classes, and this is reflected in the preference for class type. Among wholly in-person, wholly remote, and a combination of both, it was found that learners preferred remote classes the most (54.4%). When conducting in-person classes, instructors must devise a class plan that incorporates the advantages of online remote classes.

A Study on the Empathy Competence of Adolescents Using Empathic Reading Based on Online Remote Classes (비대면 온라인 원격수업 기반의 공감독서를 활용한 청소년의 공감역량에 관한 연구)

  • The study is aimed at designing an effective edutech platform based on online remote classes, and clarifying the effect of empathy competence of youths through the operation linked with the empathic reading program focusing on reading. To this end, after constructing the environment for education and drawing a class model based on components of edutech for remote classes on the basis of previous studies and elaborating the empathic reading education program, this study has been conducted for one semester for 107 students in 4 classes in their 1st grade at S middle school, Gyeonggi-do in order to apply them to fields. As a result of the study, the empathy reading program that a remote class model was applied has shown a meaningful difference among groups in cognitive empathy and emotional empathy, and it was found that there was a statistically meaningful difference between the two groups in total scores. Besides, the effect and meaning of adolescents' empathy competence have been verified through the remote empathy reading education and the empirical analysis, and the direction to develop the empathy reading program has been suggested for a solution to settle differences in students' learning due to COVID-19.

  • Corona, which first broke out in 2020, has caused many changes in many parts of society. Education was not an exception to this change. Teachers had to prepare online classes and students were asked to participate in it without sufficient preparation. Regarding online learning, many studies, in the field of developing teaching module and material or observing the satisfaction of online class, were conducted but there was no study based on how online class is happening in school. Therefore, this study was to investigate the current situation and satisfaction of online class for high school students and explored the relationship between sub-elements of mathematics learning and the level of satisfaction of online learning. As a result, mathematics online class was generally conducted in the form of real-time interactive classes and students felt a little satisfied with it. However, some conflicting opinions were expressed on the continuation of mathematics online learning. In addition, the study found that the higher level of satisfaction students have with online class, the difference appears in the sub-elements of learning mathematics such as values of mathematics, and motivation to learn, willingness to learn mathematics, learning strategies according to the safisfactory level of online class.

  • Globally, the prolonged pandemic of COVID-19 (COVID-19) has had a great impact on all industries. In particular, in the field of education, online classes (non-face-to-face) had some negative perceptions of online classes, such as lack of preparation for learning and student dissatisfaction with the class. According to the current situation survey in 2020, non-face-to-face classes accounted for about 56% of the class, and streaming real-time classes and video content-based classes accounted for most of the class. This study empirically analyzes the problems to be solved by online classes through the 2020-2021 survey (software application practical class university students), and explains the detailed program and development plan (implementation result). This study intends to contribute to the development of online learning development of each educational institution after the end of the corona crisis.

Analysis of the difference in online class operation between physical education teachers according to COVID-19 (COVID-19에 따른 체육교사 간 온라인 수업 운영 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the differences in the teaching methods of elementary, middle and high school physical education teachers for online physical education classes and the improvement of online education. To this end, an online questionnaire was conducted for 166 physical education teachers belonging to the Busan Metropolitan Physical Education Research Association community, and cross-analysis were conducted. There search results are as follows. First, there was no difference in gender, starting with online school. Second, there were differences in the method sand motivation so online physical education classes according to the type of employment, and there was no difference in improvement. Third, there was significant difference in the motivation for online physical education classes according to the teaching career. Based on these research results, it is expected that various efforts will be needed to promote the adaptation and improvement of education and teachers for online physical education classes.

Exploring the Online Learning Experience of College Students Majoring Physical Education in the COVID-19 Pandemic (코로나-19 팬데믹으로 인한 체육계열 대학생의 원격수업 학습경험 탐색)

  • The study was conducted to examine the educational experiences and perceptions of college students in the field of physical education as they were taken remote classes in university due to the effects of the social collective infection caused by COVID-19. To achieve the purpose of the study, an online survey was conducted on 278 university students who major in physical education, and the survey questions include the status of remote classes, remote class recognition (preference, and satisfaction level). As for the analysis method, frequency analysis, response sample t-verification, ANOVA, and word-cradle were performed using SPSS 22.0 and R programs, and all significance levels were set at .05. The results from the above research process are as follows. First, in the types of remote classes in the sports category due to COVID-19, video types were used the most in both theoretical and practical classes, and the following was shown as assignment types. The third type was the voice record lecture type for theoretical classes, and the practical class was the video lecture scene. Second, in the remote class preference for the students, both theory and practical classes, video format were the most prefered, followed by video lecture scene and voice lecture type. Third, the analysis of the differences in satisfaction between theoretical and practical classes of the students showed that there was no difference in satisfaction according to the type of class.

Analyzing Offline and Online Entrepreneurship Course Outcomes and Remote Education Strategy (비대면 강의 운영 전략: 온라인 창업수업을 중심으로)

  • Distance learning has become an efficient tool and is being widely used at work and in school. This research presents the results of a project-oriented entrepreneurship course taught both in classroom and online for a period of 3 years before and after the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Despite the various challenges, the outcome demonstrated that the students were able to attain required knowledge and capabilities in the online learning environment. As such, this paper discusses effective ways to blend in distance learning components so that both instructors and students can benefit from Internet-based education technologies. In the future, both face-to-face and virtual project work and study are likely to get integrated into a 'hyflex' class, which is flexible, on-offline education.

Strategies and Effects of Questioning Methods Based on Anonymity/Openness in Remote Engineering Education (비대면 공학교육에서 공개 및 실명 여부에 따른 학습자 질문 방식의 전략과 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Students' questions are essential and important for learning, but previous research and experience of instructors shows that there is a lack of interaction between instructors and students in online classes. This research studies how learners can effectively ask questions in online classes at engineering colleges. Based on two axes of anonymity and openness, the four different types of questioning methods were suggested as 'onymous/public', 'onymous/private', 'anonymous/public' and 'anonymous/private.' In this study, seven communication channels were applied to check their effectiveness in an online class. The results showed that learners' satisfaction with learning outcomes increased compared to previous offline classes, while satisfaction with teaching methods was similar. Additionally, among the four types of questioning methods, the preference and effectiveness of 'anonymous/public' was highest, followed by 'onymous/private'. This study suggests several implications of educational approaches to online education in engineering colleges.

Factors Influencing Learning Immersion in College Remote Classes (대학생의 원격수업에서 학습몰입도에 미치는 영향요인)

  • Purpose: The study aimed to identify factors that affect college students' learning immersion in non-face-to-face remote classes. Methods: During COVID-19, a survey was conducted on 140 college students who were taking non-face-to-face remote courses at universities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficients, Independent t-test, ANOVA, and Hierarchial stepwise multiple regression with SPSS (Windows version 27.0). Results: In the study, the most important variable influencing learning immersion was the student's self-efficacy, followed by instructor presence, class participation, lecture satisfaction, and credits. Conclusion: Instructors who teach major courses at college need to develop and apply ways to enhance learners' self-efficacy and class content that can boost learners' motivation in order to maximize learners' learning immersion. In order to facilitate learners' access to online media and maintain their interest in remote classes, passionate efforts need to be made by active instructors.
