This paper introduces the design of high-speed analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for hard disk drive (HDD) read channel applications. This circuit is bated on fast regenerative autozero comparator for high speed and low-error rate comparison operation, and Double Speed Dual ADC (DSDA) architecture for efficiently increasing the overall conversion speed of ADC. A new type of thermometer-to-binary decoder appropriate for the autozero architecture is employed for no glitch decoding, simplifying the conventional structure significantly. This ADC is designed for 6-bit resolution, 800 Msample/s maximum conversion rate, 390 mW power dissipation, one clock cycle latency in 0.65 m CMOS technology.

In this paper, an Analog Flat Panel interface(AFPI) which supports for UXGa(Ultar extended Graphics Array)-Compatible TFT LCD Driver is designed. The Proposed AFPI is composed of 8-b ADC, Automatic Gain Control(AGC), Low-Jitter PLL. In order to obtain a high speed and low power consumption, an efficient architecture of 8-bit ADC is proposed, whose FR(Folding Rate) is 8, NFB(Number of Folding Block) is 2, and IR (Interpolating Rate) is 16. We can get high SNDR by adopting distributed track and hold circuits. Also a programmable AGC which is possible to control gain and clamp, and a low-jitter PLL are proposed. The chip has been fabricated with 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ 1-poly S-metal n-well CMOS technology. The effective chip area is 3.6mm $\times$ 3.2mm and it dissipates about 602㎽ at 2.5V power supply. The INL and DNL are within $\pm$ 1LSB. The measured SNDR is about 43㏈, when the input frequency is 10MHz at 200MHz clock frequency.

This paper proposes a high-resolution and high-frame rate CMOS image sensor with column-wise cyclic ADC. The proposed ADC uses the sharing techniques of OTAs and capacitors for low-power consumption and small silicon area. The proposed ADC was verified implementing the prototype chip as QVGA image sensor. The measured maximum frame rate is 120 fps, and the power consumption is 130 mW. The power supply is 3.3 V, and the die size is $4.8\;mm\;{\times}\;3.5\;mm$. The prototype chip was fabricated in a 2-poly 3-metal $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS process.
This paper describes a l0b CMOS A/D converter (ADC) for HDTV applications. The proposed ADC adopts a typical multi-step pipelined architecture. The proposed circuit design techniques are as fo1lows: A selective channel-length adjustment technique for a bias circuit minimizes the mismatch of the bias current due to the short channel effect by supply voltage variations. A power reduction technique for a high-speed two-stage operational amplifier decreases the power consumption of amplifiers with wide bandwidths by turning on and off bias currents in the suggested sequence. A typical capacitor scaling technique optimizes the chip area and power dissipation of the ADC. The proposed ADC is designed and fabricated in s 0.8 um double-poly double-metal n-well CMOS technology. The measured differential and integral nonlinearities of the prototype ADC show less than ${\pm}0.6LSB\;and\;{\pm}2.0LSB$, respectively. The typical ADC power consumption is 119 mW at 3 V with a 40 MHz sampling rate, and 320 mW at 5 V with a 50 MHz sampling rate.

In this paper, we propose a signal readout system with small area and low power consumption for CNT sensor arrays. The proposed system consists of signal readout circuitry, a digital controller, and UART I/O. The key components of the signal readout circuitry are 64 transimpedance amplifiers (TIA) and SAR-ADC with 11-bit resolution. The TIA adopts an active input current mirror (AICM) for voltage biasing and current amplification of a sensor. The proposed architecture can reduce area and power without sampling rate degradation because the 64 TIAs share a variable gain amplifier (VGA) which needs large area and high power due to resistive feedback. In addition, the SAR-ADC is designed for low power with modified algorithm where the operation of the lower bits can be skipped according to an input voltage level. The operation of ADC is controlled by a digital controller based on UART protocol. The data of ADC can be monitored on a computer terminal. The signal readout circuitry was designed with 0.13${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. It occupies the area of 0.173 $mm^2$ and consumes 77.06${\mu}W$ at the conversion rate of 640 samples/s. According to measurement, the linearity error is under 5.3% in the input sensing current range of 10nA - 10${\mu}A$. The UART I/O and the digital controller were designed with 0.18${\mu}m$ CMOS technology and their area is 0.251 $mm^2$.

A low power(9 mW) highly-digitized 2.4 GHz receiver for sensor network applications(IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN) is realized by a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. We adopted a novel receiver architecture adding an intermediate frequency (IF) level detection scheme to a low-power complex fifth-order continuous-time(CT) bandpass L:tl modulator in order to digitalize the receiver. By the continuous-time bandpass architecture, the proposed $\Sigma\Delta$ modulator requires no additional anti-aliasing filter in front of the modulator. Using the IF detector, the achieved dynamic range(DR) of the over-all system is 95 dB at a sampling rate of 64 MHz. This modulator has a bandwidth of 2 MHz centered at 2 MHz. The power consumption of this receiver is 9.0 mW with a 1.8 V power supply.
An extended-counting analog to digital converter (ADC) is designed to have a high resolution(14bit) with low power consumption and small dia area. First order sigma-delta modulator with a simple counter for incremental operation eliminates the need of big decimation filter in conventional sigma-delta type ADC. To improve the accuracy and linearity, extended mode of successive approximation is followed. For 14-bit conversion operation, total 263 clocks(1 clock for reset, 256 clocks for incremental operation and extended 6 clocks for successive approximation operation) are needed with the sampling rate of 10 Ms/s This ADC is implemented in a 0.6um standard CMOS technology with a die area of 1 mm ${\times}$ 0.75 mm.

A 10b 500MS/s $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS ADC is proposed for 4G wireless communication systems such as a LTE-Advanced and SDR The ADC employs a calibration-free single-channel folding architecture for low power consumption and high speed conversion rate. In order to overcome the disadvantage of high folding rate, at the fine 7b ADC, a cascaded folding-interpolating technique is proposed. Further, a folding amplifier with the folded cascode output stage is also discussed in the block of folding bus, to improve the bandwidth limitation and voltage gain by parasitic capacitances. The chip has been fabricated with $0.13{\mu}m$ 1P6M CMOS technology, the effective chip area is $1.5mm^2$. The measured results of INL and DNL are within 2.95LSB and l.24LSB at 10b resolution, respectively. The SNDR is 54.8dB and SFDR is 63.4dBc when the input frequency is 9.27MHz at sampling frequency of 500MHz. The ADC consumes 150mW($300{\mu}W/MS/s$) including peripheral circuits at 500MS/s and 1.2V(1.5V) power supply.

This paper presents a full-CMOS transmitter and receiver for VDSL2 systems. The transmitter part consists of the low-pass filter, programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and 14-bit DAC. The receiver part consists of the low-pass filter, variable gain amplifier (VGA), and 13-bit ADC. The low pass filter and PGA are designed to support the variable data rate. The RC bank sharing architecture for the low pass filter has reduced the chip size significantly. And, the 80 Msps, high resolution DAC and ADC are integrated to guarantee the SNR. Also, the transmitter and receiver are designed to have a wide dynamic range and gain control range because the signal from the VDSL2 line is variable depending on the distance. The chip is implemented in 0.25 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology and the die area is 5 mm $\times$ 5 mm. The spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) and SNR of the transmitter and receiver are 67.5 dB and 41 dB, respectively. The power consumption of the transmitter and receiver are 160 mW and 250 mW from the supply voltage of 2.5 V, respectively.

This work proposes a 12b 100MS/s 0.13um CMOS pipeline ADC for battery-powered mobile video applications such as DVB-Handheld (DVB-H), DVB-Terrestrial (DVB-T), Satellite DMB (SDMB), and Terrestrial DMB (TDMB) requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed ADC employs a three-step pipeline architecture to optimize power consumption and chip area at the target resolution and sampling rate. A single shared and switched op-amp for two MDACs removes a memory effect and a switching time delay, resulting in a fast signal settling. A two-step reference selection scheme for the last-stage 6b FLASH ADC reduces power consumption and chip area by 50%. The prototype ADC in a 0.13um 1P7M CMOS technology demonstrates a measured DNL and INL within 0.40LSB and 1.79LSB, respectively. The ADC shows a maximum SNDR of 60.0dB and a maximum SFDR of 72.4dB at 100MS/s, respectively. The ADC with an active die area of 0.92 $mm^2$ consumes 24mW at 1.0V and 100MS/s. The FOM, power/($f_s{\times}2^{ENOB}$), of 0.29pJ/conv. is the lowest of ever reported 12b 100MS/s ADCs.
