This paper designed a efficient 8-bit CMOS analog-to-digital converter(ADC) for an SOC(System On Chip) application. The architecture consists of two modified 4-bit full-flash ADCs, it has been designed using a more efficient architecture. This is to predict roughly the range in which input signal residers and can be placed in the proximity of input signal based on initial prediction. The prediction of input signal is made available by introducing a voltage estimator. For 4-bit resolution, the modified full-flash ADC need only 6 comparators. So a 8-bit ADC require only 12 comparators and 32 resistors. The speed of this ADC is almost similar to conventional full-flash ADC, but the die area consumption is much less due to reduce numbers of comparators and registors. This architecture uses even fewer comparator than half-flash ADC. The circuits which are implemented in this paper is simulated with LT SPICE tool of computer.
A time-interpolation technique has been applied to the conventional FLASH analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to increase a number of quantization level, thus it reduces not only a power dissipation, but also minimize an active chip area. In this work, we demonstrated 5-bit ADC which has 31 quantization levels consisting of 16 conventional voltage-mode comparators and 15 time-mode comparators. As a result, we have achieved about 48.4% voltage-mode comparator reductions. The ADC is fabricated in a 14nm fin Field-effect transistor (FinFET) process with an active die area of 0.0024 mm2 while consuming 0.82 mW through a 0.8 V supply. At 400-MS/s conversion rate, the ADC performs 28.03 dB SNDR (4.36 ENOB) at 21MHz input frequency.

Start The current paper proposes an improved HD(High Definition) monitor that can support a signal input with various resolutions. Due to the inadequate performance of the built-in digital PLL(Phase-locked Loop) of an ADC(Analog to Digital Converter) and poor tolerance of ADC ICs, there are problems in the stable processing of synchronization signals with various input signals. Accordingly, the proposed synchronization signal optimization technique regenerates the horizontal synchronization signal in the vertical blanking interval based on the regularity of the synchronization signal, i.e. the timing of the falling edge signal remains constant, thereby solving the above problem and minimizing the interference of the system. As a result, the proposed system can stabilize various synchronization signals with different resolution modes.

This investigation was performed to test the readability of the video based digital radiography, that can be applied clinically, compared with the periapical radiograph. The experiments were performed with IBM-PC/AT compatible, video camera and ADC (analog-digital converter). And spatial resolution was 512 X 480 with 256 (8 bit) gray levels. The radiographs obtained by using variable steps of exposure time were digitized. and then the digital images were analyzed. The obtained results were as follows: 1. There was no remarkable difference in readability between the radiographs and their digital images. However, under over exposure the digital images were superior to the radiographs in readability and vice versa. 2. As the exposure time was increased, the gray level of the digital image was decreased proportionally. 3. The correlation beween the regions of interest and the aluminum step wedges were relatively close; R=0.9965 (p <0.001).

In this paper, ADC with multi SHA structure is proposed for high speed operation. The proposed structure incorporates a multi SHA block that consists of multiple SHAs of identical characteristics in parallel to improve the conversion speed. The designed multi SHA is operated by non-overlapping clocks and the sampling speed can be improved by increasing the number of multiplexed SHAs. Pipelined A/D converter, applying the proposed structure, is designed to satisfy requirement of analog front-end of VDSL modem. The measured INL and DNL of designed A/D converter are $0.52LSB{\sim}-0.50LSB$ and $0.80LSB{\sim}-0.76LSB$, respectively. It satisfies the design specifications for VDSL modems. The simulated SNR is about 66dB which corresponds to a 10.7 bit resolution. The power consumption is 24.32mW.

This paper presents a single supply PLC SoC ASIC with a built-in analog Front-end circuit. To achieve the low power consumption along with low cost, this PLC SoC employs fully CMOS Analog Front End (AFE) and several LDO regulators (LDOs) to provide the internal power for Logic Core, DAC and Input/output Pad driver. The receiver part of the AFE consists of Pre-amplifier, Gain Amplifier and 1 bit Comparator. The transmitter part of the AFE consists of 10 bit Digital Analog Converter and Line Driver. This SoC is implemented with 0.18 ${\mu}m$ 1 Poly 5 Metal CMOS Process. The single supply voltage is 3.3 V and the internal powers are provided using LDOs. The total power consumption is below 30 mA at stand-by mode to meet the Eco-Design requirement. The die size is 3.2 $\times$ 2.8 $mm^{2}$.

In this paper, presented is the result of a digital implementation of a FM stereo composite signal generator. The chip utilizing DDFS(Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer architecture is implemented using $1.0\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS gate-array technology thereby replacing analog componentry. To verify the process of generating composite signals a conventional logic simulation method was used. The processed chip was mounted on an evaluation PCB to test and analyze to signals. According to the measurement result obtained by using a 12-bit DAC, the digital FM composite signal generator produces a 74DB spectrally pure signal over its entire tuning range, which is superior to that of analog counterpart by 14dB in it spectral reponse. And further enhancements of the spectral response is expected to be achieved by using a high resolution digital to analog converter, such as a 16-bit DAC. The resulting signals is superior to the signal of the analoy circuitry typically used, in major characteristics such as S/N ratios, accuracy, tuning stability, and signal seperation.
In this paper, an energy-efficient 11.49-bit successive approximation register (SAR) capacitance-to-digital converter (CDC) for capacitive sensors with a figure of merit (FoM) of 31.6 pJ/conversion-step is presented. The CDC employs a SAR algorithm to obtain low power consumption and a simplified structure. The proposed circuit uses a capacitive sensing amplifier (CSA) and a dynamic latch comparator to achieve parasitic capacitance-insensitive operation. The CSA adopts a correlated double sampling (CDS) technique to reduce flicker (1/f) noise to achieve low-noise characteristics. The SAR algorithm is implemented in dual operating mode, using an 8-bit coarse programmable capacitor array in the capacitance-domain and an 8-bit R-2R digital-to-analog converter (DAC) in the charge-domain. The proposed CDC achieves a wide input capacitance range of 29.4 pF and a high resolution of 0.449 fF. The CDC is fabricated in a $0.18-{\mu}m$ 1P6M complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process with an active area of 0.55 mm2. The total power consumption of the CDC is $86.4{\mu}W$ with a 1.8-V supply. The SAR CDC achieves a measured 11.49-bit resolution within a conversion time of 1.025 ms and an energy-efficiency FoM of 31.6 pJ/step.

In this paper, a 6-Bit CMOS Folding and Interpolating AD Converter is presented. The converter is considered to be useful as an integrated part of a VLSI circuit handling both analog and digital signals as in the case of HDD or LAN applications. A built-in analog circuit for VLSI of a high-speed data communication requires a small chip area, low power consumption, and fast data processing. The proposed folding and interpolating AD Converter uses a very small number of comparators and interpolation resistors, which is achieved by cascading a couple of folders working in different principles. This reduced number of parts is a big advantage for a built-in AD converter design. The design is based on 0.25m double-poly 2 metal n-well CMOS process. In the simulation, with the applied 2.5V and a sampling frequency of 500MHz, the measurements are as follows: power consumption of 27mw, INL and DNL of $\pm$0.1LSB, $\pm$0.15LSB each, SNDR of 42dB with an input signal of 10MHz.
