  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of optimism, academic resilience, and major satisfaction of nursing students, and identify influencing factors of major satisfaction. The study was a cross-sectional descriptive correlational design. A convenience sample of 286 nursing students was conducted from a university in Busan. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierachical multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS version 23.0. The average score of optimism, academic resilience and major satisfaction in nursing students were 3.85±0.54, 3.87±0.52 and 3.75±0.63 respectively. The degree of major satisfaction was positively correlated with optimism and academic resilience. The significant predictors of major satisfaction were optimism(β=.385, p<.001) and academic resilience(β=.356, p<.001), explaining 49.2% of the independent variables. Accordingly, in order to increase the major satisfaction level of nursing college students, it is necessary to develop a program that can improve optimism and academic resilience, and apply it in the nursing curriculum.

  • Information literacy of the individuals affects their competitive capability significantly by providing problem solving skills in the short run, and by enabling life-long learning in the long run. This study examines if information literacy capacity has any relationship with individuals' achievement level through the experiment with college student subject group. As evidences for individual achievement level, we adopted GPA's(grade point average) of students. As a result, it was confirmed that information literacy and academic achievements has positive relationship. Additionally, it has been found that this relationship has a tendency of sustaining for a significant period. These experiment results would serve as a rationale for providing information literacy courses in the academic curriculum.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the longitudinal relations between creativity, academic achievements, and utilization of computer & smartphone of middle school students. For this purpose, multivariate latent growth model was verified, using three year longitudinal panel data of Seoul Educational Longitudinal Study(2013-2015). Results indicated that the more students in their first year used computer & smartphone, the better scores they obtained on the creativity and academic achievements. As their grade goes up, while the growth rates of using computer & smartphone and creativity were related positively, the growth rates of using computer & smartphone and academic achievements -even though it was not statistically significant- were related negatively. In addition, the first year students, who obtained high level of scores on the creativity, obtained high level of scores on academic achievements, but this tendency was not significant as their grade goes up.

  • The aim of this research is to find out how convergent operation of the learning coaching and compensation system affects the academic self-efficiency and learning performance of university students. In the second semester, a compensation system was prepared based on learning coaching and learning outcomes, made a notice in advance, and conducted a survey before and after operation to measure the academic self-efficacy. In addition, the MLST-II Learning Strategy Diagnosis Examination was conducted on G university students to diagnose the learning tendency. As a result, although G University students felt a reluctance by coaching the learning community and expected negative results during the course of participation in the learning community due to low motivation and low expectation of results, they showed a significant improvement in academic self-efficiency and learning outcomes. Therefore, even students with negative learning tendency will need to consider how to operate these programs in the educational field, as the expert's learning coaching and compensation systems produce positive results for students' academic self-efficiency and learning outcomes rather than leaving them to autonomy.

  • This study aimed to analyze the relationships between Big five personality (openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism), self-regulation learning, and achievement in children in a gifted education program. 95 students in a gifted education program participated in this study. A hypothetical model proposed openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism as independent variables, and self-regulation learning and achievement with gifted education as dependent variables. Stepwise regression analysis indicated that openness to experience, conscientiousness, and agreeableness significantly predicted self-regulation learning. Also, neuroticism, selfregulation learning, and extraversion significantly impacted achievement with gifted education. openness to experience, conscientiousness, and agreeableness showed that complete mediating effects through self-regulation learning to achievement. A foundation for improving learning strategies in a successful gifted education program can be constructed on the basis of the results of this study.

The data were collected from 277 nursing students from three colleges in J province and were analyzed with a regression analysis and bootstrapping. As a result of the study, first, the fit of the causal model between learning engagement, emotional intelligence, academic resilience and self-regulation of nursing students was found to be good, and the causal relationship between variables was predicted appropriately. Second, partially mediating effect of emotional intelligence on the path of nursing students' learning engagement affecting academic resilience. Third, self-regulation had moderating effect on learning engagement affecting emotional intelligence. Finally, the significance of this study is that the influence of various variables that can affect the academic resilience of nursing college students was verified, and in order to improve academic resilience, a strategy that considers the subjects' learning engagement, emotional intelligence, and self-regulation.

  • Given social problems of service addiction such as mobile messenger services(MMSs), many studies on service management and information systems have examined the negative outcomes of service addiction. MMS addiction significantly influences user's health and academic performance. In this regard, this study investigated the effects of MMS addiction on user's health and academic performance problems. We posit personal traits and service features as key antecedents of MMS addiction. The research framework was tested by using survey data collected from 162 university students who have frequently used Kakaotalk. The analysis results found that MMS addiction significantly influences users' health and academic performance problems. The findings of this study indicate that self-esteem and self-control play an important role in generating MMS addiction. While attention significantly affects MMS addiction, social relationship formation and perceived enjoyment are not significantly associated with MMS addiction. The analysis results help MMS providers and government establish policies or guidelines to induce healthy MMS use.
