The engineering college in Yonsei University started the RCP(Residential College Program) at Song-do International Campus in 2013. Every first-year engineering student is required to live on-campus at their first semester. They had integrated educational experiences combined with extracurricular community activities as well as curricular activities. The residential learning communities were to decrease the number of students in probation and enrich campus culture. The living and learning communities could help students achieve academic success and to lower the rate in dropping. We ran a survey over the students' satisfaction on RCP. Academic achievement and retentions were compared between the ones in 2011 and 2013.

Women in engineering subject were developed for women included engineering education in Korea. Women in the predominantly male-oriented college of engineering which is afflicted by the high dropout rate and the low employment rate of coeds in their majoring fields because of the die-hard male dominant culture. In order to resolve the related problems, Our University has been actively engaged in a movement called "Women into Engineering" (WIE) to raise the gender cognitive awareness and to train women engineers for highly qualified work force. As part of the movement, a subject called "Women in Engineering" that focuses on the gender cognitive perspective is effective to reduce the dropout rate and to land a job inside their fields by stimulating their interest in their specialty made soft/hard skills. The study was conducted a survey of the coeds who have completed the "Women in Engineering" course to evaluate the degree of satisfaction perceived, and a t-test through comparing the group of the coeds and a group of coeds who have not taken the course. The results showed statistically significant responses indicating that both groups of coeds would like to see WIE offer more basic engineering courses like "Women in Engineering." This may lay the foundation to offer other major engineering courses for juniors and seniors that emphasize the gender cognitive approach.

This paper describes the evaluation procedures which was applied to the team teaching-based technical writing and presentation class. Among the various evaluations for the class, three major cases are introduced. Self-established goal evaluation, presentation evaluation and team evaluation are those. Each evaluation is designed to promote or evaluate student activities from the class. And it was found to be effective for team-based writing class.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have been recently commercialized can largely be divided into fixed-wing aircraft and rotor aircraft by their styles and flight characteristics. Although the fixed-wing aircraft represents higher power efficiency, higher speed, longer flight distance and larger loading weight than the rotor aircraft, they have a disadvantage of requiring a space for take-off and landing. On the other hand, the rotor aircraft can implement vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and represents various flight modes (hovering, steep bank turns and low-speed flights). But they require both precision take-off control and attitude control. In this study, we used a quad-tilt rotor UAV to combine advantages in both the fixed-wing aircraft and the rotor aircraft. The quad-tilt rotor (QTR) system was designed and constructed by adding a tilt device with a servo motor to a general quad-rotor vehicle.

Student independent project activity is beneficial for enhancing many kinds of abilities, e.g., team working, collaboration, communication, presentation, creativity, leadership, and so on. More than ten project teams actively perform every year in the Center for Innovation and Creativity Development of The University of Tokushima. The project management workshop was planned in order to make project activity successful. In this workshop, the team members studied the importance of holding a common objective among them and of making a clear plan for achieving the activity. They practiced brainstorming method and KJ method and experienced a PDCA cycle. The team activity will be fruitful on the basis of the project management method.

Engineering Ethics is a fundamental and essential subject and the understanding of ethics is of great importance for students in engineering courses and professional engineers. Most courses would consist of ethical tests, decision making opportunities, case studies, case methods, and group discussion. It is important to consider each case carefully, so we offer a number of hypothetical short stories to students as case methods that they cover in detail. We check the behavior decisions of students as they read the hypothetical short stories. In this study, the short story was about 200 words in length. This paper shows how, with the addition of minor changes to the text, some students changed their behavioral decisions. For example, with the addition of "if you take financial liability for the losses," some thought that they would not want to carry the debt. Other cases showed how some students disliked the majority rule. The paper shows that this arranged hypothetical short story method can often guide student's decision-making process, and can result in decreased undesirable decisions.

This study aimed to analyze the current trends and future issues of the creativity development research in the Korean engineering education. The analysis led to categorizing the previous research topics into the following five domains: (i)systems and media (ii)instructional strategies and methodologies (iii)curriculum (iv)evaluation and (v) learner characteristics. The analysis further deduced more detailed sub-domains from each of the five domains. In addition, this study investigated publication frequencies of each domain and sub-domains and grasped specific flows of past research topics. Finally, based upon the analysis, this study drew implications and ramifications for creativity development studies in the Korean engineering education, elucidated future issues and refined upcoming research agendas. It is hoped that this research will articulate the present status of the studies that deal with creative education catering to engineering students and help set paths for future research.

The purpose of this study was to examine the organization socialization process of engineering novice for the learning and adaptation. Qualitative case study was performed with 5 participants and the collected qualitative data were analyzed using funnel-like method. The findings showed that the organization socialization process proceed in three steps-anticipatory, encounter, and metarmorphosis. Engineering Novice look at the whole organization socialization proces of organization culture and job maladjustment, and the relationship between internal and external organizations to overcome the difficulties arising from the community through the process of becoming a full participant. Socialization of engineering novice is ultimately the organization to respond to new situations and changes in the learning process takes place in the process, talking about a major resource for human resources. This enables organizations to socialize and harmonious human relationships within the organization so that it can be more important than anything else.

This study proposes an effective data management method for easing the burden on self-study report by analyzing operational data on accredited engineering programs. Four analysis criteria are developed: variability, difficulty level of collecting, urgency of analysis, timeliness. After the operational data are analyzed in terms of the analysis criteria, the data which should be managed in time are extracted according to the analysis results. This study proposes a data management method in which tasks of managing the timely-managed data are performed based on the regular academic schedule, so that the result of this study may be used as a working-level reference material.
