This study analyzed characteristics which emerged while 45 secondary school teachers observed a video clip about a statistics instruction. The aim of this study based on the analysis was to deduct implications in terms of the various means which would enhance teachers' knowledge in teaching statistics and assist in designing statistics education programs for teachers and professional development initiatives. To achieve this goal, this research firstly developed framework descriptors which provided this study with theoretical foundations to investigate what characteristics appeared in the teachers' observation. Secondly, this study probed the observation results from the teachers in the light of the framework. Therefore, some issues in the teacher education program for teaching statistics were thirdly identified in the categories of 'focus of instruction', 'role of the teacher and discourse' and 'data and technology' based on the analysis. This research inspires the elaboration of exactly what features effective statistics classes have through the framework descriptors and additionally the elucidation of essential matters relevant to statistics education on the basis of the issues.
This study aims to analyze statistical tasks in Korean and Singaporean textbooks with the mathematical modeling perspective and compare the learning contents and experiences of students from both countries. I analyzed mathematical modeling tasks in the textbooks based on five aspects: (1) the mathematical modeling process, (2) the data type, (3) the expression type, (4) the context, and (5) the mathematical activity. The results of this study show that Korean and Singaporean textbooks provide the highest percentage of the "working-with-mathematics" task, the highest percentage of the "matching task," and the highest percentage of the "picture" task. The real-world context and mathematical activities used in Korean and Singaporean textbooks differed in percentage. This study provides implications for the development of textbook tasks to support future mathematical modeling activities. This includes providing a balanced experience in mathematical modeling processes and presenting tasks in various forms of expression to raise students' cognitive level and expand the opportunity to experience meaningful mathematizing. In addition, it is necessary to present a contextually realistic task for students' interest in mathematical modeling activities or motivation for learning.
Instructional materials including problem situations or problems or tasks on real-life situations are considered as an important and significant factor to lead a successful math instruction. MiC Textbook is a representative one showing good examples and tasks including fluent realistic situations on the basis of the background of the Freudenthal's theory. This study explores concretely and in detail the type of level of mathematical tasks, by the subject of MiC Textbook. To accomplish this, this study reconstructs and establishes an elaborated analysis framework using 'the cognitive demand level' suggested by Stein, et, al. The cognitive demand level is comprized of four elements such as Memorization Tasks, Procedures Without Connections Tasks, Procedures With Connections Tasks, and Doing Mathematics Tasks. Memorization Tasks and Procedures Without Connections Tasks are considered as low level tasks, and Procedures With Connections Tasks and Doing Mathematics Tasks are as high level tasks. MiC Textbook is comprized of the four areas of 'number', 'algebra', 'geometry and measurement', and 'data analysis and statistics'. This study deals with the tasks relevant to Function content dealt with in MiC 3 level Textbook, and explore the level of cognitive demands on each task.

The aim of this study is to compare mathematics curriculum among the United States, Singapore, England, Japan, Australia and Korea and offer suggestions to improve mathematics curriculum of Korea in the future. In order to attain these purposes, the analysis was conducted in many aspects including mathematics education system, mathematics courses, mathematics contents, assessment syllabus for university entrance examination and the construction principles of mathematics curriculum. In the light of the results of this study, our suggestions for improving mathematics curriculum of Korea are as follows: revising the contents of analysis, geometry, probability and statistics strands; organizing curriculum based on spiral construction principle; providing various opportunities to select mathematics courses according to students'career; reflecting the contents of their courses in university entrance examination.
The purpose of this study is to analyze of the effect in Mathematics Teachers beliefs on their students beliefs by Latent Class Regression Model (LCRM). For this analysis, the study used the findings and surveys of Kang, Hong (2020) who developed a belief profile by analyzing the mathematical beliefs of 60 high school teachers and 1,850 second-year high school students learning from them through the Latent Class Analysis (LCA). As a result It was observed that 'Nature of Mathematics', 'Mathematic Teaching' and 'Mathematical Ability' of mathematics teachers beliefs influence the mathematical beliefs of students. The teacher's belief of 'Nature of Mathematics' statistically significant effects on students' beliefs in 'School Mathematics', 'Problem Solving', 'Mathematics Learning'. The teacher's belief of 'Teaching Mathematics', 'Mathematical Ability' statistically significant effects on students' beliefs in 'School Mathematics', 'Problem Solving', 'Self-Concept'. The results of this study can give a preview of the phenomenon in which teacher's mathematical beliefs are reproduced into student's mathematical beliefs. In addition, the results of observation of this study can be used to the contents that can achieve the purpose of reorientation for mathematics teachers.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the statistical literacy in elementary school students when they beginning inference. Picto-graphs provide statistical information and often data-related arguments they certainly qualify as objects for interpretation, for critical evaluation, and for discussion or communication of the conclusions presented. For research, the inference from pictograph task was designed and statistical literacy standards for evaluating the student's level was presented based on prior studies. Evaluating student's statistical literacy is meaningful in that it can check their current level. To know the student's current level can help them achieve a higher level of performance. The outcomes of this research indicate that pictograph can provide a basis for rich tasks displaying not only student's counting skills but also their appreciation of variation and uncertainty in prediction. Raising statistical thinking by students is an important goal in statistical education, and the experience of informal statistical reasoning can help with formal statistical reasoning that will be learned later. Therefore, the task about the inference from a pictograph, discussions on statistical learning of elementary school children are expected to present meaningful implications for statistical education.

The purpose of this study is to find the correlation between the level of 6th graders' achievement level in Probability and Statistics education, which were proposed in the curriculum, which targeted the 6th graders in the elementary school, and statistical literacy. For this, first, questions asking the achievement level in the probability and statistics(Part A), and questions asking the statistical literacy(Part B), were used to study the achievement level of the students. Second, the achievement level in the probability and statistics, and the statistical literacy were measured. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, questionnaire that consists of 10 questions was invented. The questionnaire was divided into Part 1 and Part 2 under the consideration upon the characteristics of the questions. The results of the questionnaires given to the students were classified into "high, medium, and low" and were separated into 7 categories. Results of comparing category 3 and category 6, which have shown opposing tendencies, we could find that students who are good at school mathematics and students with high statistical literacy have respective and different characteristics. For actually effective statistical education, consideration upon and reflection of core aspects such as intuition and critical thinking in the curriculum are needed.

In this study, connections between the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and the contents of teacher's manual books according to it and the contents of elementary 1st grade mathematics curriculum and textbooks was analyzed to find the implications that can help to link the two curricula in the development of kindergarten and elementary school mathematics curriculum. The five following implications could be obtained from the analysis. First, it is necessary to connect the contents of the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children which were completed in that curriculum like 'spatial relation'in geometric figure domain and 'data collection'in probability and statistics domain to the contents of the 1st grade curriculum. Second, in the case of the contents not connected between the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and the contents of elementary 1st grade mathematics curriculum but connected between the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and the contents of elementary 2nd ~6th grade mathematics curriculum, it is necessary to re-adjust the hierarchy based on one of the curricula. Third, it is necessary to check whether $\ll$K-teacher's manual book$\gg$ obey the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children or not. Fourth, it is necessary to review the related elements of the NURI curriculum for 5 years old children and elementary 2nd ~6th grade mathematics curriculum in [activity] in $\ll$K-teacher's manual book$\gg$. Fifth, it is necessary to handle the mathematics contents explicitly and systematically in [activity] in $\ll$K-teacher's manual book$\gg$.
This study compares and analyzes the mathematics assessment items of the middle school's national-level academic achievement tests in Korea and Japan, recently revised as a competency-focused curriculum. By comparing and analyzing the assessment items in each country, the analytic framework is integrated into content areas, contexts, and competencies. The characteristics of each country's assessment items developed for each content area were analyzed using the framework. We suggested some implications on developing and improving national-level academic assessment items.
It has already been fifty years since the Korean peninsula was divided into two nations, South and North Korea. Owing to forming different political and social structures with each other, we can conjecture that there are much heterogeneity in education. On the assumption that education plays important role in coming to an accommodation and in restoring homogeneity of the Korean race after unification, we consider the investigation of the contents of mathematics text-book of secondary schools as a meaningful research to make provision against unification. In this paper, we shall investigate the learning contents, and the teaming substances and sequences in mathematics of secondary schools between South and North Korea by falling into four regions; algebra and statistics, analysis and geometry. By grasping the special features of terms, teaming subject matters and learning substances, and clarifying their distinctions, we shall present some reforms measure of distinctions.
