The Causal Relationship among Academic Resilience, Covert Narcissism, Interpersonal Competence and Self-Efficacy of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 학업탄력성과 내현적자기애, 대인관계능력 및 자기효능감과의 인과적 관계)

  • This study intended to investigate the structural relationship and the pathway of academic resilience, covert narcissism, interpersonal competence and self-efficacy for nursing students. For this purpose, 460 nursing students from three colleges in J province were sampled for convenience. The result of this study were as follows: First, the fix indexed of causal model among academic resilience, covert narcissism, interpersonal competence and self-efficacy were identified suitably. Second, covert narcissism, interpersonal competence and self-efficacy of nursing students has direct effect on academic resilience, it was statistically significant. Third, interpersonal competence and self-efficacy of nursing students showed mediating effects on the relationship between covert narcissism and academic resilience, but they were competitive effects. Self-efficacy mediated the relationship between interpersonal competence and academic resilience. Based on the results of the study, the necessity of developing an effective education program considering the academic resilience and related factors of nursing students was suggested.

Differences of Social Anxiety and Stress Coping Style by Self-Efficacy in College Students (대학생의 자기효능감 수준에 따른 대인불안과 스트레스 대처방식 차이)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in social anxiety and stress coping style by the college students' levels of self-efficacy. The convenience sample consisted of 400 college students in six universities. The data were collected from May to June in 2013 using the following instruments: the Self-Efficacy Scale, the Interaction Anxiousness Scale and the Ways of Coping Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data using SPSS 21.0. Self-efficacy was found to have negative relation with social anxiety and positive relation with active coping style while social anxiety was negatively related to active coping style and positively to passive coping style. There were differences in social anxiety and stress coping style in accordance with the level of self-efficacy. The higher group in self-efficacy used more active coping than the lower group. The support and intervention program to increase self-efficacy would be effective in decreasing social anxiety and increasing active coping style among college students.

The Effect of Interpersonal Relationships of the Disabled on Daily Life Satisfaction: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Self-Efficacy (장애인의 대인관계가 일상생활만족도에 미치는 영향: 자기효능감의 매개효과 중심)

  • It was to verify the mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship that the interpersonal relationship of the disabled affects daily life satisfaction. The subjects of the study were 3,907 registered disabled people in the 5th Data of the Disabled Employment Panel (2019), and the SPSS 25.0 program was used for data analysis. The main research results are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the effect of interpersonal relationships on daily life satisfaction was positive(+) significan. Second, the effect of interpersonal relationships on self-efficacy was found to be positive(+) significance level. Third, the effect of self-efficacy on daily life satisfaction was statistically positive(+) significance level. Fourth, the positive(+) partial mediating effect of self-efficacy was verified in the relationship between interpersonal relationships on daily life satisfaction. In order to improve the daily life satisfaction of the disabled, it was found that interpersonal relationships and self-efficacy should be improved. Through this, practical implications were presented to increase the satisfaction of the disabled in their daily lives.

  • This study is to find ways to improve the daily life satisfaction of people with disability through interpersonal relation and self-efficacy. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis by SPSS 21.0 were applied to 1,483 out of 4,400 of Penal Survey of Employment for the Disabled 2nd Wave. The study show that the interpersonal relation had a positive effect on self-efficacy and daily life satisfaction. Self-efficacy influenced positive effect to life satisfaction and played a mediating role between interpersonal relation and daily life satisfaction. Based on the conclusion that daily life satisfaction can be enhanced through the improvement of interpersonal relations and self-efficacy, this study made policy suggestions to improve interpersonal relations and self-efficacy.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of an academic tutoring program on interpersonal relationships, self- directed learning capability and academic self-efficacy. The research question posed in this study was whether an academic tutoring program would affect interpersonal relationships, self-directed learning capability and academic self-efficacy. To address the research question, a self-administered survey was conducted to gather data on 214 students who participated in an academic tutoring program during a semester from September 4 to November 10, 2017. The findings of the study were as follows: After their participation in the tutoring program, there was a little decrease in self-directed learning capability and personal learning orientation, and they made progress in interpersonal relationships and academic self-efficacy. By gender, there was the greatest improvement in interpersonal relationships as well after their participation in the tutoring program. By academic year and motivation for participation, they showed the best improvement in interpersonal relationships as well, followed by academic self-efficacy. In other words, it could be said that the parts which the tutoring program brought about the biggest change to and worked best on were interpersonal relationships and academic self-efficacy. In conclusion, the improvement of interpersonal relationships and academic self-efficacy could boost not only the school adjustment of students but their academic levels and then eventually prevent them from dropping out. Therefore this program seems to be one of outstanding learning programs that could make a contribution to the stable management and qualitative competitiveness of universities.

The Convergence Research Regarding the Effect of University Students' Addiction to Smartphones on Self-Efficacy: Lack of Sleep and Interpersonal Relationships as the Parameters (대학생의 스마트폰 중독이 자기효능감에 미치는 영향에 관한 융합연구: 수면부족과 대인관계를 매개로 하여)

  • This convergence research was conducted to understand the effect of university students' addiction to smartphones on self-efficacy, with lack of sleep and interpersonal relationships as the parameters. The subjects were students from three universities located in J province, and 263 questionnaires were used as the data for analysis. SPSS and AMOS were used for correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and path analysis. As a result, addiction to smartphones showed positive (+) correlation with lack of sleep, and negative (-) correlation with interpersonal relationships and sell-efficacy. In addition, the addiction to smartphones has an influence on self-efficacy with lack of sleep and interpersonal relationships as the parameters. Therefore, in order to increase the self-efficacy of unversity students, plans and measures should be prepared to manage and prevent addiction to smartphones and lack of sleep, and to improve interpersonal relationships.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effects on nursing students' interpersonal relationships and communication self-efficacy when their group activities were performed in interpersonal relationships and communication curriculum. This study employed one group pre test-post test study design. This course consisted of a total of 13 sessions, and was conducted for 100 minutes per session every week from September to December in 2012. Questionnaires were from Relationship Change Scale of Shlein and Guerney and Communication Self-efficacy developed by Ayres. Also, data were collected through the whole 161 cases, analyzed by descriptive statistics, and paired t-test along with PASW 18.0. As a result of this study, the scores of interpersonal relationships and communication curriculum self-efficacy were significantly increased. In light of these results, the application of this curriculum has an effect on interpersonal relationships and communication self-efficacy among nursing students. Accordingly, this study can be provided as basic data in order to develop and utilize the curriculum that can improve communication skills of nursing students in nursing education.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how paid work affects self-efficacy and interpersonal relationships among the poor elderly. In addition, this study analyzes to measure the psychological and social effectiveness that can be obtained through paid work in poor life. This survey was conducted for poor elderly people in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do on the assumption that the quality of paid work would positive affect the interpersonal relationships of the poor elderly, and that the self-efficiency would play a mediating role between the quality of paid work and their interpersonal relations. The final sample of 165 of them was selected and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the quality of paid work was analyzed to have a significant effect on the interpersonal relationship of the poor elderly, and the mediating effect of self-efficacy was also confirmed. Based on the results of these studies, the need for a policy to improve the quality of paid work for the elderly and practical measures to improve the self-efficacy of the elderly in the social welfare field were proposed.

The Effect of College Students' Psychological Well-being and Interpersonal Competence on Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy (대학생의 심리적 안녕감, 대인관계 유능성이 진로결정자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was attempted to understand the effect of university students' psychological well-being and interpersonal competence on their career decision-making self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 154 university students, and data collection was conducted from November 1 to December 10, 2019. The collected data were analyzed using x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Psychological well-being and interpersonal competence were found to be significant influencing factors on career decision-making self-efficacy and the explanation power was 41.6% (F=66.48, p<.001). When establishing a program that can improve career decision-making self-efficacy of university student, psychological well-being and interpersonal competence, which are factors that affect career decision self-efficacy revealed through the results of this study, should be considered.

  • Acquiring professional knowledge and clinical practice of nursing students is a major barrier to campus life and nursing education is needed the programs for considering student's stress and personal characteristics. This study was to understand relation among self-leadership, self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship and college life satisfaction in nursing students. We conducted a survey of 375 students in 4 nursing colleges during the period from March 2nd to 31st. 2014. The study found a positive correlation and significant direct effects between self-leadership, self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship and college life satisfaction and these variables explained 26.8% of college life satisfaction. Therefore, self-leadership of students can improve self-efficacy, interpersonal relationship, furthermore, improve ultimately college life satisfaction. According to this study, to improve college life satisfaction, student's personal characteristics should be considered and education programs for self-leadership, self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship be reflected in curriculum.
