When initially comparing Denmark with Korea, it would appear that the two have little in common. However, upon further investigation, one would find they are similar in that they both small Countries located outside of central continents without an abundance of natural resources. Each has also shown displayed its own successful design to the world. The unique qualities of Danish designs have both, in turn, influenced other Countries' designs, thus having a ripple effect worldwide in the design area. One may concluded that the schools educating these designers have played a role in Danish unique design success. This thesis investigates and details curriculums and goals of three furniture design departments of Universities in Denmark and, is useful for furniture department's in Korean schools who wish to have a better understanding of how Danish schools have achieved their success to date.

This study explores the interior image preferred by females living in urban areas. It also examines the relationship between interior image and socio-demographic characteristics such as age, marital status, employment status, total household income. The target population of this study was 301 adult females living in Kwangju City. The data were analyzed with frequency, percentage, General Linear Model, and Duncan's multiple range test using the SAS package. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1) The majority of the females generally preferred modernity of interior image to traditionalism. Also they preferred feminity of interior image to masculinity and complexity to simplicity. 2) Females in the age of 40s were more likely to prefer simple and oriental-traditionalism image to those under the age of 30s. 3) Those with the higher total household income were more 1ike1y prefer western-traditionalism image to those with the lower. But those with the lower household income were more tended to prefer modernity image to those with the higher.

The purpose of this study is to analyse comparatively the diverse expressive aspects of high-tech design in the interior space of the High-Tech architecture in the inside and outside of the country. To achieve the purpose of this study, the methods and contents are as follows: 1. Extracting the diverse expressive aspects of high-tech design in the interior space from the character of high-tech architecture. 2. Explaining the diverse expressive aspects of high-tech design in the interior space. 3. Analysing and estimating the diverse expressive aspects of high-tech design in the interior space in the inside and outside of the country. In conclusion, showing the diverse expressive aspects of high-tech design in the interior space in the inside and outside of the country.

The problems with the small exhibition buildings such a small gallery and art center recently constructed did not make the characteristics of the place specifying and did not form a big flow in the line of urban connection. Also it was deficient in the image like a cultural space because of the commercial aspects of the individual buildings. According to this view, this study is to evaluate the exteriors of the small exhibition buildings that the public prefers on the psychological side as a design theory and then, it is to present the direction of desirable form constitution hereafter. In the design of the small exhibition buildings exterior that the public must prefers, the principles and techniques of constitution that operate are the most initiative as follows. As for the principles of unity in the constitution of the small exhibition buildings exterior that the public prefers, Eigen Value is 7.573 and the explanatory force takes 21.637% at the top and it plays a leading role. In the comparison of the appearance, it shows that it is a factor with the largest specific gravity. The next factors were grouped in good order: the balance, ornamental technique, change, shipping technique, rhythm, harmony, symbolic technique, area technique and adding technique. As a result, in the design of the small exhibition buildings exterior, the architects have to constitute the principles of balance, change, rhythm and harmony by most of the unity and the symbolic technique and form technique by most of the ornamental techniques harmoniously and have to give Identity like exhibition buildings.

This study examines the space composition and character of Baroque Theater base on the theory of drama and play in the european traditional theater. Contemporary multi purpose theater and public space is considered as a symbolic representation of the baroque theater's organization. In the historical theory, baroque theater was a common tool and best systeme in reflecting people's lives. The role of theater as mass culture and new style of theater permanent design had get its value with the population increase and the urban centralization of the city and urban common sense. This study attempts to reevaluate the need of public space in modern society through a critical review of theater and its use as a open space design. Content analysis was used to discuss the topics of this study including the historical background of the theater, the relationship between renaissance culture and modern theater design, and the role of scenery, auditorium and its impact on urban environment. The scope of the study is limited to the comparison of baroque theater and space use program from the space critic and sociologist. Today the concept of theatrical space is altered with the advent of non-objects and multi media space. This study provides insights for the future implications of theatrical space in developing public space for its a new definition as cultural representation.

This study is on the relations between space boundary system and spatial effects. The system is consist of circulation axis & territory and vision axis & vision limit. The former is the spatial characteristic and the later is the time one. The purpose of this case study is confirm the correlation of the both and the spatial effect which is caused by space boundary system. Boundary is enable us to cognize 'territory' and intermediary of each territories. The facts that forms space boundary system are circulation axis & territory and vision axis & vision limit. The space boundary system could be categorized by congregation of these facts. and categorizing is determined with agreement degree of each couple of facts. Categorizing facts on the space boundary system are relevant to spatial effect, especially territory, directness, continuity and concentration.

Science, technology and machine aesthetics were the main theme of architectural design in the first machine age. Modern architecture used the theory of science as its framework. But the theory of science was used not as a professional way, but as a pseudo-scientific way by modern architects. It was because that modern architects relied on the spiritual, mystical realm of science and mathematics. Moreover, the avant-garde movement in modernism used the theory of science and mathematics for its complicated and ailenated nature and scientific image. The pseudo-scientifism in architectural design in the first machine age was expressed mainly as a concentration on the 4th dimensional space and the use of symbolic image of science and technology.

The aim of this study is to measure sensitivity reaction of human being with a physical properties of color and average size of particle for building materials and predict the influence of color and average size of particle in evaluation of building materials. As a results, 1) In results of qualitative evaluation construction, all 16 adjectives were extracted by higher evaluation items and ,total 14 adjectives were extracted as evaluation adjectives except adjectives of a contrary concept in each other. 2) According to the result of factor analysis, all 4 group of $\ulcirner$potency$\lrcirner$, $\ulcirner$activity$\lrcirner$, $\ulcirner$evaluation$\lrcirner$, $\ulcirner$warmness$\lrcirner$ were extracted. In this time, $\ulcirner$potency$\lrcirner$ as the first factor indicates the most hign original value. Consequently, $\ulcirner$potency$\lrcirner$ factor have an hign influence in evaluation of building materials. 3) As a influence analysis of evaluation variable by evaluation item $\ulcirner$potency$\lrcirner$ factor have an high influence by influence of average size of a particle, $\ulcirner$activity$\lrcirner$ factor have influence hignly by influence of brightness, $\ulcirner$evaluation$\lrcirner$ factor have an hign influence by influence of average site of a particle and the hue, $\ulcirner$warmness$\lrcirner$ factor have an hign influence mainly by influence of the hue

After Industrial Revolution, new thought system is needed to subdue multi-chanties and complexities of society. Nowadays under 'system theory', these efforts are theorized and organized in fields of science, philosophy and others. From Industrial revolution, before establishing the system theory, system has been needed by the expression methods. From that time, as it could be done, standardization, has been continued. Finally these conclusion reached at the systematic expression methods and when the system was build up, this theory was come true in Art such as De Stijl, Neo-Pasticism, Russian Suprematism and Constructism. For that reason, formal solution to achieve mass reductions was found in Art, so people connected Industry with Art at that time. Systematic expression methods in Art have characteristics of system and reflect mathematics and geometry theory which is based on the system theory. This study analyzes the systematic methods in contemporary interior space through the concept of systematic expression methods in Swiss Allianz's works which used the systematic expression methods and also inquires how the common meaning of system after recent times effect to contemporary design.

The purpose of this study is to develop the color palettes which are applicable to the color deign process for residential interiors according to the image types. To achieve this purpose, review of literature, questionnaire survey, and contents analysis were used. The major results of this study are as follows : The interior color images are clearly divided into 4 types, such as 'sophisticated', 'natural', 'gorgeousl', and 'casual'From the results of color palette, these 4 color image types are found to be very closely related to the interior image. It means that color image is very important element in Interior design process. Therefore, it is helpful to plan the color design according to the image types of interior color for good interior design.

This study is focused on three major museum projects completed during 1990's by Richard Meier who is known as the romantic modernist as well as one of the architects who continue their devotion on completing the fourth dimensional spatial concept through the practice. Main focus of the study will be analyzing the space and design elements shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art (Barcelona, Spain, 1986-95), Museum of Television & Radio (Beverly Hills, CA., 1994-96) and the Getty Center(Los Angeles, CA., 1984-97), and find out the new meaning of museum design suggested by the architect. The analyzation was done based on the actual sight visits and through the acquired references. The museum designs done by Richard Meier show consistency between visual language, use of 'light, space and form' as the design elements to connect interior and exterior to create openness and harmony with surrounding condition. Additionally, greatness of the architectural elevation, efficient use of interconnecting space, adoption of natural light, affective use of the space, careful consideration to the exhibiting items, spread of information centers, balance between large and small exhibition spaces, and his concept on providing choices to the viewer within the museum are the main issues in designing the museum in order to give various spatial experience to the visitors.

This paper explores idea of the integration of text and image information in interior design. In this paper, we designed a structure of text and image information. Text information includes the information about materials and projects, and image information includes images of interior design. Material information consists of such as name and price of materials. Image information involves images of interior design that have been scanned and categorized into 15 groups according to the building regulation. Project information consists of construction brief and materials relevant to the image of interior design. The interior design information that is based on cases offers various information to designer and customers. In addition, the connection between text information and image information improves the quality of interior design by decreasing the trial and error in interior design processes. Finally, we discuss the method that integrates text and image information of interior design.

This study was performed to search for the geometrical principles in modern architecture and design based on Frobel's educational idea and Kindergarten system. Especially, it studies on the geometrical principles of Froebel's building gifts and it's types, and then illustrates applied examples in modern architecture and design. As the architectural scope, the architecture and design theory of Frank Lloyd Wright and Bauhaus in early 20th century is analyzed. The conclusions of this study that starts these purpose are as follows. First, Froebel's educational theory is based on principles and rules which are perceived through the observation of nature, and Froebel's Kindergarten system consists of geometrical building gifts and categories of geometrical forms. Second, the characteristics of Froebel's building gifts are mathematical size, proportion, symmetry and the rules of spatial relation. Third, the influence of Froebel's kindergarten system on Bauhaus is that it based on the rational rules of $\bigtriangleup\square\bigcirc$ organized by geometrical basic forms as like Froebel's educational idea. And the influence of Froebel's Kindergarten system on Frank Lloyd Wright is that he used unit system, unity of space and structure and modular system as like the Froebel's building gifts.

This study deals with the expressive characteristics of Installation Art and their applicability to environmental design, and as such, aims to specify a artistic methods from the contemporary art. What Installation Art is search of in their works is "the state of relationships" which is "to replace the concept of form with that of structure, and the concept of space with that of the environment" that is, the terms of relations in the overall environment of time and space. Installation Art essentially relies on a multiplicity of forms and attitudes leading to projects which positively make use of "spatial-temporal process" to reaffirm and "problematise" their open-endedness manifest in complex contextuality and shifting temporality. This study presents a new interpretation of spatial-temporal dimension, site-specificity, and intermedia art that we find in Installation Art and tries to combine that new artistic insight a with environmental design to provide a basis for integrated art. This study places a great emphasis on the interdisciplinary approaches to the environment we inhabit, which I hope will contribute to generating a greater number of creative possibilities for environmental design.

This study investigated the extend to which the facilities satisfactorily accommodate people with different disabilities and their specific needs for improving the facilities. Systematic interviews were conducted with 90 disabled people using the non-propertionate stratified cluster random sampling method. Frequency analysis, Chi-square tests, Duncan tests, and analysis of variance(ANOVA) were employed for data analysis. The findings indicated that the respondents' assessment of accommodations and needs for improving accommodations differed by the type of disabilities. People with physical disabilities were the least satisfied with stairs, followed by seating in stadiums and/or theaters. For people with visual disabilities, the lack of guidance and information facilities was the most difficult problem. People with hearing disabilities often pointed out difficulties in using public telephones. meanwhile, people with physical disabilities asked for easy access to assistive devices and improved mobility-related circumstances. yet people with visual disabilities expected to improve way-finding relevant issues, such as detectable warnings on walking surfaces and guidance and information facilities, whereas people with hearing disabilities desired to develop hearing-aid equipments, such as TDD and assistive listening systems.

This study deals with 'Sachlichkeit' , as essence of materiality that architectural building materials process, which forms the physical basis for actual building. There have beennu merous researches that deals with various elements that compose architecture, but the emphasis seemed to be concentrated on the meta-physical discussion concerning formal concept. An issue on sachlichkeit as materiality does not necessary mean to mention production process of architecture, rather it is aim of this study to seek possibility to find elements that generate architectural form, through interpreting meaning of materials as substructure generator to make architectural possible. Architectural act can be defined as a process where physical material in life is composed into architecture by the hands of architect. Material used in life is composed into architecture by the hands of architect. Material used in this process basically has neutral characteristic, so 'Sachlichkeit'solely depends on the intentions of architects. This study interprets the intention of architects through the frame of modern-basis proposed by Hilberseimer, and a result architecture is defined as an object projected by architect's subjectivity.
