Contemporary society that is apt to be homogeneity because of the development of computer communication and mass-media desires to seek its own identity in native realm. Contemporary Korean architecture has endeavored continuous discussion and practice to keep its identity within the current tendency. The purpose of this study is to grope the alternative for genuine 'Koreaness' to analyse the variant trend of its characteristics 1990's. The variation of Korean society in 1990's that emphasize self-regulation and individual value has influence on the realm of architecture so much. The cognition of 'Koreaness' has changed with center in the individual and small -size design group, not present accommodation of past, but continuous research to find archetype of tradition which can play a decisive role of linking present and future on the foundation of past. Many attempts and practical works that express 'Koreaness' in 1990's are performed in the area of residence works that reflect Korean emotion and life-style directly. This change can be an answer to solve the problem of peculiarity and universality in 'Koreaness'. After 1960's the main theme of 'Koreaness' was traditional architecture form, but because of the induction of Postmodernism and at once its reflection and critical attitude with limit of formal duplication, which lost its meaning. In 1990's, research for spatial form as korean emotion and image has carried out and played an important part of original expression for 'Koreaness'

Mathematics is considered to the beginning of designing thinking because of the sense of logical order system. In this study, it was regarded the mathematics as the logic and the measurement of design system. as is often the case in history, mathematics, it is regard as conceptual model of architectural though, as aesthetic proportional measure and the mirror of thought. The direction of this study is rather multi-sided approaching to the spatial concept than one-sided plane. It is multi-acceptable way to apply mathematical principle to the pace and to be a flexible one. And boundary of interpretation of the flexibility means potential use-ability, and the strictly meaning of flexibility means that the acception of the various Secession and the Change of space. And the various interpretation of the flexibility only can expressed in the relation of opposite concept: the assembly and the disassembly, the expand and the decease, the open and the close and the construct and the de-construct. Mathematics provide the resonable way in architectural thinking and endow the order as logical organizatiov. Regarding these facts, this research is for making it possible to consider the expression property of interior space combination as the way of understanding the accepting of the changes of the times with the mathematical induction, using the rational method like the mathematical arrangement organizatiov.

This study attempts to analyze the styles and the images of the exterior and interior design of modern Korean houses since 1960s, and to understand the characteristics of Korean design by analyzing the consistant and changing factors in the styles and images of modern Korean houses. The photos of 101 houses were used for content-analysis approach. The result shows that the most dominant exterior style of modern Korean houses has been changed from modernism to late-modernism and it brought some changes in the images with increase of deconstructivism and post-modernism style. While modernism has been consistantly the most dominant style in the interior design of modern Korean houses with unified, urbane, masculine and unpartitioned images. It means that modernism style shown in modern Korean houses expresses certain consistant images, which can be defined as a characteristic of modern Korean house desigv.

This study is intended to explore the tendency of interior design which have sustained the periodic changes throughout the history. After analysis of changes in interior design from 1920's early modernism to nowadays, the conclusion is as follows. In view of the human psychology, the main trend of consistent periodic changes is the revolutionary change of tension and relaxation, and the pursuit of such a change in design is rooted in the human basic need to get the vital energy through stimuli by giving and taking the variety in the public society.

If the architecture will made the focus of real user for convenience, it must be the real user, which is the multiple specified persons, more over, the most disadvantages side person will be considered that would be the convenient architecture for all. This principle of universal design has been started the latest 1950's, in USA, Sweden, Canada has considered to the disabled person in the concept of universal design, at 1960's. In case of our country, after 1988's handicapped Olympics, the induction of universal design is started to adapt in the era of architecture. Nowadays, in the group of study, their research, presentation increasing the example, which is carried out the enthusiasm of legislatiov. But we are much as far behind the senior nation, in regard to the lack of the vouluntary participating as the professional. This study is to analyze the principle, concept of Universal design from the department store, which is the convenient facilities, present the usable checklist in time of induction of Universal desigv.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the exhibits layout and the spatial organization in exhibition spaces. As an analytical method, the space syntax theory devised by Bill Hillier(1984) was applied for analysing the potential differentiation of exhibition spaces and remodeling method in Seoul City Museum selected for case study. The results are as following. Especially from the convex analysis, axial analysis and exhibits(interpretation); 1) the closed spatial system(1F) has high visibility and high intelligibility in hall area but lacks route continuity, 2) the circulated spatial system(2F) has low global visibility but offers high intelligibility and connectivity due to its coercive circulation, 3) and the organization of exhibition design consists in differentiating space that reintegrates them into another spatial order. Therefore, there process are expected to provide a methodological framework for analysing and interpreting spatial organizations of design, leading to the clear explanation of remodeling.

My aim is to break away from the conept that has been focused only on display division and to present product scheme correctly and to establish a VMD Plan which can also contribute to sales promotion by providing infirmation and arranging Store Display efficiently for customers. Additionally, this is aimed to present an efficient and sensitive design process.esign process.

Researching behavior of users in public library is very important processing and their activities can be judged with the regard of required inner spaces and related those functions. The subject of this study is to examine the organization of inner spaces in public library and to propose the prototype of space composition in public library on the future. Not only the relation of space program of each library but also the network among public libraries are not connected efficiently. That's why the public library is not used as local cultural place. Usually, the organization of inner spaces has not been recognized and approached satisfactorily. As the result of the above researching, the function of the culture facilities should be connected to the open study-room which now using just for study. It will make users to recognize and approach public library easily.

The extensive coverage and high speed of communication network, which is a basic structure of the information society, enables the provision of various forms of informatiov. especially, such services as cyber medicine, cyber education, home office, home banking, and home shopping will be common; and, now, no one can deny that the information society starts to be part of our life. Regarding home office, John Navigate predicted home office through the electronic house in New Mecca Trend and Alvin Toffler asserted in The third Wave that people could do their work anywhere including living room in their hoses with the development of communication technology and other related appliances. Such predictions are realized with the development of information communicatiov. Therefore, housing space should be changed according to the realization of home office and the direction of housing plan need to be set for home office.

The purpose of this study is to research the Andrea Palladio's villa design, theory and its application influenced on the early frank Lloyd Wright's houses. the results of this study are as follows: (1) The early Frank Loyod Wright's houses composed nine division composition as well as three division compositiov. (2) According to the cross axis masses projected into the right and left. Although houses composed largely three division composition, they came to two extremes composition with two centers. As a result the early houses developed Prairie Houses that the fireplace was placed on the center of space and the symmetrical space arranged around the cross type.

A museum architecture has been developed as important representation of a specific period in architectural history. Modern concept of museum architecture has started by Karl Fredrich van Schinkel(1781-1841) through das Altes Museum(1823-1830) back in early 20th century and it continues to be the model for museum architecture for over 30 years. By middle of the 20th century, the movement of redefining new model for the new era on the subject of museum architecture was developed. This development was lead by the three masters of the modern architecture at the time. F.L. Wright, Corbusier, Mies and they were responsible and very active in creating new concepts. Their works in museum design became the prototype and they tried hard to make sure their new concepts to be the stepping stone for further development. This study is to compare the three different museums designed by those masters of the modern architecture, particularly on the issue of the exhibition spaces. The purpose of the study will be focused on the point of interior architecture such as the matters of layout and design characteristics of the exhibition spaces. And it will reveal the impact made by those masters on the advanced development of the current generations of museum designers as well as to describe the prototype of exhibition space. The analyzation was done on FLW's Guggenheim Museum in New York, Corbusier's the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo, and Mies' Die Neue National Galerie in Berliv. Comparable materials were collected through site visits and reference documents from various publications. It will be ideal if this study can be used for further development in new museum design in this country.

This study has been designed to explore the preferences of interior space for those living in apartment housing. It also examines the relationships between preferences of interior space, such as storage space, organization type of LDK(the living room, the dining room, and kitchen), space facing south, an interior garden, the concept of each room and the characteristics of the consumers, such as age, educational background employment status of homemakers, occupation of the primary income provider, family-life cycle, total household income, the size of floor space, and homeownership. In conclusion, this study suggests that at the time of designing apartment housing units, serious consideration should be given to the built-in closets or storage space in the anbang and to the location of a child's room facing to the south of the dwelling, especially for the families with a child attending primary school or younger and higher education level of homemaker. This study also recommends that the organization of the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen should be varied according to the housing size and the age of homemaker.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the materials for developing the new house style by analysing the space characteristics of wood frame houses in suburbs of Seoul. For this, we analysed 45 drawings(site plan, floor plan, elevation, section) that were designed by MICHOO, WOOD-LAND, STUGA and CHOWONJUTECK company etc. The space design characteristics that we found are as follows; 1. The wood is fragile to humidity. Therefore this characteristic is especially considered in designing the space of bathroom and utility room. 2. It is the merit of wood frame house that inner space can be designed variously by using spilt-level and the slope of roof. 3.The public space and private space are completely separated in most cases and the stair is located in the middle of house. This structure of house is short of horizontal openness. Instead, most houses gets vertical openness by making second floor on the living room opev. 4. In wood frame house as the rural house, the outer space is well used by setting up deck and balcony. The outer spaces like deck and balcony are usually used as a part of life space in connected with living room, dining room, master bed room and family room. 5. The public spaces like kitchen, living room, dining room and family room are considered so important in design that those are arranged in front in order to have good outlook and directiov.

The aim of 2000s' technical college is to cultivate technicians who have their own specialities. This means that the technician's duty is not to fit themselves to the wide fields of work, but to strengthen the competitiveness ensuring the4ir speciality in the society that is based on knowledge. The educational substances of the college attach more importance to a design, but the Interior Architecture works and official situations that amount to almost Interior Architecture business in these modern days are focalized on a field construction rather than desigv. $\ulcorner$It is not able to ensure the speciality in the project performing a plan to design and a construct management at the same time. The purpose of this study is to provide practical guide for the Preference of exterior design in Apartment. The data is collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The sample consists of 229. The data is analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The major findings are as follows. (1) Most of residents recognize the importance of exterior design of apartments. (2) Most of residents are satisfied with the exterior design such as building form, color, and material and not satisfies with environment of apartments. (3) The most preferred color of Apartment is white as primary color and green as secondary color. (4) The most preferred color pattern is vertical type as facade, horizontal type as the back wall, super graphic and geometrical type as the side wall. (5) The preferred exterior images are modern, simple, and unique style.

Generally part of museum collections are cycled exhibition space centering around preservation space, and that is a important mechanism of collections circulation in a museum. The reason why with a few exception most of collections have been lasting its life during over hundreds of years with adapting itself to natural features, so scheme of preservation facilities should be made up with understanding and analysis generic character of collections, and then establish proper temperature and huminity environment. So, this study is based on a fact that the collections' physical and chemical conditions vary in the relics a degree of transforatiov. Small art museums are important objects in the point of view that they are museums to speak for the general architectural culture of current Korea and immediate factors to have an effect on urban street view and urban people's life. In small art museums, form has had plural transfigurational process when we analyze the external component elements or form types, we will find various aspects. In past, composition of form was expressed by simple partition of surface and columv. Now a days, it is expressed with unnumerable formal vocabularies. Although these forms being looked plural, form principle of composition that prescribe it can be rather simple. This study aims to grasp the characteristics and the composition technique of form in small art museums by analyzing compositional elements of it.

Deconstruction, which aims at art for pure art's sake, along with post-modernism which pursues for de-unification and variety, is trend of design characterizing the contemporary society. Responding to this trend, in Korean the design which advocates post-modernism has been begun and the trend of deconstruction spreads among young architects and designers and this trend is shown in furniture, accessories and lighting design, as well as in interior desigv. This study is under the assumption that the movement of recovering the limits of the existing one is the thinking of deconstructiov. By analyzing and considering the theory and works of Peter Eisenman who shows the trend of deconstruction, this study tries to disclose the design theory of deconstruction and get the reasonable approach toward the progress of design resulting from the progress of human being, science, and humanities.

It is characteristic that houses designed by Adolf Loos show commonly a contradictory aspect between the exterior and interior. The exteriors of the houses are simple and on the other hand the interiors are affluent to the greatest degree. At that time, a stylized gorgeous decoration of the inner space had been prevailed in general among the historicism and Vienna Secession people, and such an inner spatial conception as by Loos must have brought a turning point for the development of a new inner spatial conception which can by itself be called revolutionary. This study is gong to clarify the fact that Loos has been in full consideration of the emotional side basically for the human being in the conception of inner space, by complementing the respect that his conception of the inner spatial composition, concentrating purity, comfort and classicalism on the furniture. Despite the independency of the Loos furniture is near copying, different from existing creative conception, it can be meaningful in respect that it creates out a rather accustomed and still a new space thought adding a little transformation to the existing classical furniture. So this study is going to re-establish the characteristics of the Loos furniture which work as the greatest impact in the composition of affluent inner space, the prototypical characteristics of that furniture, and the basical thinking system of Loos which can be found out in a little transformatiov.

For the useful method capable of modern expression on traditional residence architecture, a study was performed on the methodological establishment and possibility of typological method could be examinated to interior design process by typological method. First of all, through the establishment verbal of our Korean traditional architecture and further investigation of environmental and cultural idealogical facts, it could be extracted from natural instinct, duality, continuance, flexibility and transitiov. In second process, based on these results, it could be framed and described the individual typological language and, for the sake of drawing for visual and spatial typology, it was made by sketch in terms and view of possibile guidance of prototype, transforming and application method. from these results of investigated sketches, it cold be used for criteria of application method as the parts of visual and spatial typological elements to have an applicable expression of it/s traditionality. Based on above facts, for the subjects of spatial system, form & shape system, circulation system, order system, decoration system, color & material system in interior design fields, we cold propose the practical possibility through the consideration of application method for built-in meaning that could be adaptable for the interior design practices. These facts were extracted from the based on visual & spatial typology, as above mentiov. Also, through preparing and suggesting the criteria of evaluation and measurement of design quality , we could propose the applicable methodology for further & basically Korean traditional embodiment.
