In the 7th century, Sachunwang-sa temple had two extra building-sites behind the Main hall. These two building-sites were found to be in peculiar form different from any another existing stone bases. The stone bases of northern put of these building-sites were decorated to molding as the protruding comers of eaves, which was pierced into a circular hole, and was carved into a form of Gomeck-ii(the stone bases lot supporting the wall). The northern building of sachunwang-sa temple was found to be used as the altar following munduru(文豆婁) method, through the observations of the archives of Samkukyusa(三國遺事) and the Abhiseka stura(skt. 灌頂經). The molding as the protruding cornets of eaves of stone bases was shaped as the roof of a building and the carving of Gomeck-ii gives a proof of the existence of the wall between columns in the altar. The hole of the stone bases protected the wooden cylinder of munduru from the exterior world. The author concludes, through this research, that the altar of Schunwang-sa temple was used lot the religious service during the war for worthship and protecting from the enemies. Also he concludes that these buildings must have been in wooden pagodas constructed upon a square plan, that is with both front and side width equal, haying a quite small scaled and low floored building with its first floor closed on all sides, being different item the usual form.

Modern architecture does a role in terms of connecting traditional and current architecture. In the same time, Which is important part of korean architecture history because of introduction of western architecture. Accordingly, At this meaninglessly going out and leaving of modern architecture, the purpose of this study is systematic researching of 'Cho-sun government-general' interior which is disappeared. I progressed this study to research into the period context at construction of Cho-sun government-general md tendency of architecture and interior at that time. And then understand interior space organization of it. Cho-sun government-general adopted Neo-Baroque style from tendency of that time. Also, showed composite order which is mixed in the Greek temple, the Renaissance and the classic style representing the power. This characteristic is different from current composit order, which is comprehended by our. In order to understand aesthetic value of current straight interior space, It have to be interacted the present and past. But It's averted because it was made in the period of Japanese imperialism. Therefore, We should explore history of interior design that is endowed with sociality and historicity between modern and future interior space as well as current.

Frank O. Gehry is known to be an architect whose work ranges over different realms, especially between fine arts and architecture. He himself mentioned about this interdisciplinary aspect of his own work: he was inspired by, worked together with, and sometimes directly influenced by contemporary artists. Among the artists, the most influential ones are the sculptors, especially Richard Serra of Post-Minimalism and Claes Oldenburg of Pop Art. Based on this historically known fact, although very brief, this study explores how the features of Post-Minimal sculpture were transferred into Gerhy's architecture, and how Gehry has developed them into his own language. In Post-Minimal sculpture, the main concept 'Anti-Form' was realized by emphasis on materiality, process and intuitiveness of work of in. Those features appeared vividly in Gehry's works especially in his second stage of his life, but seemed to have disappeared in the third stage. However, in the fourth stage, Gehry went beyond the influence of Post-Minimalism, and he created very unique formal language dialectically formed between Post-Minimal sculptural language and his architectural language.

This study investigated and compared regional features of Aalto's buildings and Gaudi's on the assumption that their designs are based on the regional backgrounds. For it, two churches of each one we selected and analyzed about five divided spaces like disposition, the exterior, plan, structure and introduction and use of the sunlight. As result of analysis, following conclusions are induced: first, Aalto's church design and Gaudi's we similar in which they reflected the thought of regionalistic design. Nevertheless they are deferred in which Aalto accepted the international functionalism but Gaudi rejected it due to his deep belief. Second, they followed the tradition of the regional architecture. Third, both of them took in consideration the nature, but due to the difference of the contexts they are deferred in its use. Finally, both gave importance to the sunlight. But Aalto is from the country where lacks the light while Gaudi is from the country where abounds the light, so its use is different. This investigation shows several possibilities of design under the influence of its regional culture, which gets more important in this century.

In comtemporary interior design, hybrid form causes cognitive turnovers of aesthetics. Especially it offers much possibility to expression techniques in interior design and works as compound system, symbolic aggregate that makes and expands various meanings. The aesthetic ideology of hybrid design can be interpreted through the philosphic concept of art, sublime, reception, representation and explains expression techniques and characteristic in interior design through various transformation and meaning conversion. The expression techinique that is a form of openness, transcendental interpretation that exceed a dupilicate of meaning. can be classified as oxymoron, defamiliarization and interface. The characteristic that is based on those expressions appears as use of complex codes of visual images, decoding strategy, intertextuality of meaning. This research attitude can explain the thinking method of interior design by defining the epistemological scheme that is basically involved in expressional styles with characteristics of hybrid aesthetics. In order to be recognized as the object of aesthetics, hybrid has to be approached by interpretational methods of expression techniques. Consequently the characters of expression techniques in hybrid design can be investigated as one of the methodology in interior design plan.

Proceedings in a new field of sciences and technologies like genetic engineering challenge to conventional concepts. It demonstrates a certain disappearance in conventional concepts that dominants our perceptions, such as organic, mechanical, and dichotomic concept of informative materials, and that is to be extended as a potential possibility. Then, what is a new space where our bodies that feel and cherish in their mind should live in these days as well as it makes senses by itself and should affect the principle that makes worlds? In addition, this study proposes a frame in the analysis in order to understand a section of modern designs with the question of 'what is the change in the relationship between relative structures in spaces and objects from a design point of view according to new structural concepts of body?' The major point of this analysis can be realized based on the assumption of the extension of the characteristics in the change of structural relationship in the aspect of post structuralism that includes non-structuralized relationship represented in modern philosophy, arts, and architectural works. Then, it can be accomplished as positive ideas in the foundation of space designs in future including the understand of 'new structural relationship' that can't be expressed as rationality and causal sequence by considering how the experiment conducted using several topics on body can be projected onto spaces through the process applied in the experiment.

Community facilities in apartment complex have been developed through residents' needs for housing environmental amenities and social trend for 'Well-being' combined with marketing competition among construction companies. But community facilities and fitness centers which are in the initial stage of development are not well fit with residents' needs because the designers plan the community facilities without considering on residents' life-style and preference. This study investigates the present status of fitness center, and surveys the residents' preference for the proposed fitness center design. The result includes that fitness center users in apartment complex want a convenient and comfortable resting spaces similar level with those in fitness center of mixed-use residential building. A resting space provides opportunity that community members meet each other as well as they can rest after exercise. The result also shows that the fitness center users prefer wood floor and wall as interior finishing materials in exercising space and resting space, which users think, gives more comfortable and splendid feeling.

Various residential patterns, which can accommodate ever-changing modem lifestyles, are increasingly needed. On the residents' demand for flexible space, mote research should be conducted on the apartments built by the concept of flexible space. In this study, apartments of 40-60 pyeong in size built in the region of Seoul, between 1998 and 2007, are analyzed in terms of the flexible types and the unit plan composition. To reflect the changes in people's perception of residential quality-preference for a residence with a good view, over for the direction that a residence faces, more rooms are placed on the front bay. From the analyses of this study, flexible unit plans are classified into 6 types; and it was found that, as the size of apartments gets larger, the livingroom and the dinning room tend to be placed on the front bay. After grouping rooms with a similar function into the spatial zones of the master bedroom, children's room, the livingroom, and the dinning room, flexible types are analyzed in terms of the location of rooms. The results of this study will be able to contribute to establishing flexible housing culture that can accommodate the changing needs of residents.

With the change of family type and diversify of life style, residents need various unit plan in quality. A rate of economically productive women has increased, and generally double-income households will continuously increase in the future. So a research is requested to consider the double-income households's satisfaction for a unit plan based on their life characteristics. The purpose of this study is to find out double-income households's lifestyles, and to search and analyze users' needs for spatial composition according to their lifestyles, and then, embody spatial composition of Apartment Unit plans. The findings are as follows. (1) Housing lifestyles of users living in apartment arc categorized into 5 types: pursuing the trend and personality, pursuing the convenience and leisure, pursuing being domestic, making a livelihood and practicality, the type of unspecification. (2) The type of pursing the trend and individuality requests new plan and a shower bath, the type of pursing the convenience and leisure requests facility with home appliances and likes traveling and sports, the type of making a hearth and home wants a talk with their family and discuss some problem, the type of making a livelihood and practicality requests storage space, the type of unspecification wants a comfortable master bedroom zone. Consequently factors of residental space plan are need for double-income households.

The identity of Korean housing culture has been the subject of discussion in the past several decades. Recently construction company is using the expression of Korean Identity based on traditional housing as a strategic concept. There, however, has yet been found a concrete solution despite the ambitions intent to modernize Korean tradition. In this circumstances, this research was intended to understand the characteristics of traditional housing preferred by consumers, in order to embody the scheme in which Korean tradition can be modernized. The main conceptual characteristics and concrete examples were included in the characteristics of traditional housing. In result, Environment-Friendliness, Visual Openness, Human-Centeredness have been turned out to be the most preferred attributes amongst the major concept characteristics of traditional housing. In concrete case of Environment-Friendliness, the use of healthy natural materials such as timber or yellow mud was preferred the most. Consumers were also especially fond of open passage through connecting front and back balcony as for Visual Openness, and spaces created based on human body measurements regarding Human-Centeredness. The Savored characteristics of traditional housing varied by gender, age, family type, income, and scale of residence. The result of this research will be useful for housing construction company in planning Korean style apartments and also exploring preferred qualities according to the type of consumer.

Hotels had main functions of providing lodging and food and beverages in the past but hotels theses days have been changing fast to satisfy changes of social paradigm. Hotels are providing various services and further more they are places to represent certain local culture by various ways including improved entertaintment factors. accommodating combined purpose, enhancing characteristics and unique factors. These new trials can be analyzed as concepts of pursuing variety, sensual expression and pursuing originality. The concept of hotel shows new trend of expressions in design by the changes. These trends of expressions can be characterized with differentiation, sameness, heterogeneity, combination and time frame. In this study, by analyzing cases that these characteristics we applied for expanding the range of understanding toward new application method and expect to be applied to appropriate design concept of hotel culture in the future.

Opening special dental office like prosthetic, orthodontics and implant is getting popular from the specialization and ramification on dental service. It shows how changes onpeople's point of view on dental offices as a business and high interesting on aesthetic. The child dental office also specialized from 1990s. It had been divided by not sort of sickness but ages of children. Thus it should support not just basic functions what other dentist of vice does but also comfortable environment to guide children patients' behavior who get afraid easily. However the interior of existing the child dental office was more focused on visual decoration but consideration of space. Thus the space is very superficial and plain, so there is limitation to give suitable environment to children patients. Therefore, from this study, I will research what is the proper space to control children patients' behavior based on well balance of space and decoration designs. Also from the research, I will explain fundamental design ideas on the child dental office space.

The tabernacle architecture is the paradigm of the new testaments and the modern church, and has been from the temples to synagogues, the Old Testaments to the New Testaments, and from present to future. Nevertheless, research on the Tabernacles has never been studied architecturally but has only been researched Biblically or partially. This would be because people interested in the tabernacle lack in architectural knowledge, and architects would be limited theologically. Furthermore, the start of church architecture until now was the architecture of the Roman-court style and the Greece Temple as the exterior, such as the Basilica, a non-Christian, strangely styled piece of architecture, which was seen as the basis of the church architectural style, which is a great mistake, due to the effect of modern architectural educational system with the central figure of humanism and western styled architecture. The measurement and the pattern of the Tabernacle architecture were not recorded in the Bible in order to produce the shape of the Tabernacle. The 'Architecture of God' was designed for the very first time on Earth so that He could dwell among His people.

The study of a book tried to make a searching examination for a generation cause of this tendency by trying to observe the modern Lighting design tendency that various desires were reflected in of the modern society in various general ideas of communication.

This study researches the effectiveness of virtual experiences as an evaluation method in design. For the study, I researched the result on the spatial recognition before, abstracted visual objects and factors in recognition process and made up 43 inquiries for the evaluation through the experts group. Besides, set the analytical code between recognition factor and spatial constituents, made analysis the result from it. From April 1st to June 30th in 2004, the virtual model of educational place, college main building and city library was established as a subject of the research and studied the result. The methods that are used for the study are frequent analysis, T-test, reliability analysis, factor analysis etc. and SPSSWIN Package is used for the statistic analysis. There were two times of analysis on the evaluation to analyze the effect of virtual models on the web basis, one group evaluated the virtual building same as real and the other group evaluated the building site. Then analyzed the differences and correlation between the two. In result, college building, the first subject of study, and the second city library shows that made little differences between on the spot evaluation and virtual evaluation. Therefore, it is considered that the design evaluation with virtual model on the web basis has a vantage. But some problems founded that solved between preceding and present research through the feedback. It is as follows, 1. detection of problems that insufficience validity in the first survey. 2. found some not-validity inquiries. 3. detection of necessities that qualitative improvement and technical repletion in virtual environment.
