Objectives : This review aims to evaluate a risk of bias by risk of bias tool and RoBANS(Risk of Bias Assessment tool for Non-randomized Study) tool for clinical trial papers proving treatment effect of Korean medicines to alopecia and provides the newest reason of effectiveness of herbs to alopecia. Methods : Data were collected through electronic database including NDSL, KISS, KMBASE, Koreantk, OASIS, KoreaMed, KISTI, Pubmed, Cochrane CENTRAL and CINAHL. Two experts in Oriental Medicine assessed risk of bias of randomized controlled trials by Cochrane group's Risk of Bias tool and non-randomized controlled trials by RoBANS tool after searching, reviewing and selecting papers. Results : Total number of selected trials is 20 including 4 randomized controlled trial, 13 non-randomized controlled trials and 3 case reports. This study evaluate the risk of bias of 17 papers including 4 randomized controlled trials and 13 non-randomized controlled trials except 3 case reports by risk of bias tool and RoBANS tool. All papers of randomized controlled trials are evaluated unclear for random sequence generation and allocation concealment as there are no word on them. And all papers of non-randomized controlled trials are evaluated unclear for blinding of outcome assessments and relatively low for others. Conclusions : Korean medicine intervention can be an effective for treatment in alopecia. It was evaluated by hair density, thickness and expert panel assessment of photographs and all results are statistically significant. But enhancing levels of evidence, we must try to reduce bias in researches and report a safety, protocol and IRB.

Objectives : The study designed to analyze annual, seasonal tendency of outpatients in ophthalmology & otolaryngology & dermatology clinic of Korean Medical hospital from 2012 to 2016. Methods : We investigated annual, seasonal population-social characteristics such as sex or age, departmental characteristics such as ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dermatology, many others, main diagnosis, cost characteristics of treatment period and frequency of treatment those who were received treatment as outpatients in Dunsan Korean Medical Hospital ophthalmology & otolaryngology & dermatology clinic from March 2012 to March 2016. The data was obtained from EMR chart, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 19.0. Results : We analyzed population-social characteristics, utilization of new patients in the year, in the season, and we obtained various results. Conclusions : In the analysis of annual, seasonal utilization patterns that outpatients offered in ophthalmology & otolaryngology & dermatology clinic of Korean Medical hospital from 2012 to 2016, the report draws 3 different conclusions.

Objectives : This study was designed to investigate effects of Lonicera Flos Extracts(LFE) on whitening using B16F10 cell lines. Methods : In this experiment, we observed effects of LFE on cell viability, inhibitory effects of melanin synthesis, inhibitory effect on tyrosinase, tyrosinase activity, superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like activity and mRNA expression. Results : In results, more than $2000{\mu}g/ml$ of LFE treated group showed lowered cell viability rates significantly compared to albutin treated group. More than $2000{\mu}g/ml$ of LFE treated groups were lower levels of melanin synthesis. Inhibitory effects of melanin production showed in $1000{\mu}g/ml$ of LFE treated group. $1,000{\mu}g/ml$ of LFE treated group significantly suppressed tyrosinase activities in vitro. LFE and albutin treated group significantly decreased tyrosinase activity compared to non treated group. SOD-like activity of LFE treated group was lower than vitamin C treated group but increased depending on concentration. $500{\mu}g/ml$ of LFE treated group and $1,000{\mu}g/ml$ of LFE treated group was significantly increased. Tyrosinase mRNA expression of ${\alpha}$-MSH and LFE $250{\mu}g/ml$ treated group significantly decreased compared to ${\alpha}$-MSH treated group. Conclusions : These results suggest that LFE can inhibit melanin synthesis through inhibitory action on tyrosinase activity. And LFE suppressed tyrosinase activities B16F10 cells significantly. So I suggest LFE can apply to whitening.

Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the awareness improvement of atopic dermatitis(AD) for AD children's parents and to evaluate the mental health condition of AD children and QoL of their parents. Methods : We conducted elementary school visit education(the first education) and recruited children and parents who wanted to participate the hospital visit education(the Second education). In the first education, we lectured about AD, performed survey about QoL and awareness about AD and obtained 48 valid results. In the second education, we performed an education for AD again, skin condition evaluation, mental health analysis survey and obtained 29 valid results. We compared the AD and non-AD groups of each education in the first and second education. We assessed atopic awareness, FDLQI, DFI, CDI, BAI, and KISE scores by gender, age, duration of disease, onset, and severity of AD. Results : Despite children with AD, the survey showed their parents lacked knowledge about AD. However, they acquired the necessary knowledge in AD education. There was a significant difference in the total score of Atopic awareness between the AD group in the first education and the AD group in the second education. (p=0.042) In addition, the CDI and BAI scores of all patients were divided by the duration of disease, and it was estimated that depression and anxiety disorders may be aggravated by longer term illness. Conclusions and Discussions : This study confirmed duration of AD affects AD children's mental health, and verified positive changes in atopic awareness after AD education.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare atopic dermatitis and food allergy of Korean Medicine with those of western medicine. Methods : We examined the relationship between atopic dermatitis and food allergy mainly in digestive system abnormalities through literature review. Results : Food allergy is classified into categories such as diarrhea, abdominal pain and cough caused by retention of undigested food(食積) and pimples(癮疹) in Korean medicine. The side effects caused by specific immune reactions occur repeatedly due to exposure to specific food allergen or retention of undigested food. Atopic dermatitis and food allergy are often coexisting and deeply related. Digestive system abnormalities can result not only in indigestion but also in immune function abnormalities. Food allergies are known to cause atopic dermatitis and the influx of food antigens exacerbates atopic dermatitis. This corresponds to atopic dermatitis due to abnormal digestive system(脾胃) accompanied by fever(熱), wind(風), and weakness(虛) with focusing on dampness(濕). A typical example of the relationship between atopic dermatitis and food allergy in Korean medicine is Tae-yeul (胎熱). Tae-yeul refers to atopic dermatitis caused by a sensitization to reaction to the dietary antigens of the mother through the placenta during the fetal life with a unusual genetic disposition. Conclusions : We compared korean medicine with western medicine for atopic dermatitis and food allergy. Atopic dermatitis caused by abnormal immune function due to ingestion of food antigen corresponds to dermatitis due to retention of undigested food(食積), digestive system(脾胃臟) problems in korean medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to research the antibiotic, antioxidant and whitening effects of Jwa Kum-Whan(JKW) and Soo Ryeon-Whan(SRW). Both Jwa Kum-Whan and Soo Ryeon-Whan are composed of Coptidis rhizoma and Evodiae fructus, but the ratios of the two species are different. JKW is composed of Coptidis rhizoma and Evodiae fructus by ratio of 6:1 and SRW's ratio is 1:1. Methods : Antibiotic activities of JKW and SRW's water extracts were studied by paper disc diffusion method. Four kinds of bacteria were applied in paper disc, and each extract was dropped, individually. The diameter of inhibition zone was measured. DPPH assay was used for studying free radical scavenging activity. DPPH is quantitatively decolorized from purple color by antioxidant material. Change of color was measured by spectrophotometer. Whitening activity was analyzed by tyrosinase inhibition assay. Tyrosinase is major enzyme for control process of making eumelanin. Optical Density was measured by spectrophotometer. Results : Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus's inhibition zone were made large available by Both prescriptions. Inhibition zone's diameter of JKW was preferable to SRW's. Radical scavenging activity was better at SRW, but JKW's activity was available, too. Tyrosinase inhibition activity was found out available only for JKW, not for SRW. Conclusions : JKW had antibiotic effects for Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus. And had antioxidant, whitening effects. SRW had antibiotic, antioxidant activities but not whitening effect.

Objectives : The prevalence of allergic rhinitis (AR) is 10-40% worldwide and there are many demands for Traditionl Medicine (TM) treatment for AR. Pattern identification (PI) is essential process in diagnosis and treatment of TM, however, objective assessment measurement for PI of AR in TM is lacked. Methods : PI questionnaire for AR was developed in 2008 by specialists in the department of Otolaryngology of TM, based on systemic and nasal symptoms and signs. However, that questionnaire had many problems in application to clinical practice and has since been revised based on several studies and delphi method. Consequently, the PI questionnaire for AR version 3.0 has been developed. Results & Conclusions : This questionnaire classifies patients with AR as possessing lung-heat, lung-cold, or spleen qi deficiency based on nasal symptoms and general conditions of AR patients. This is first questionnaire for pattern identification of AR. We plan to conduct a validation and reliability study, and revise the questionnaire based on the results of this study.

Objectives : This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Hwanggigyejiomul-tang on eczema with oozing. Methods : We treated 23 eczema patients with oozing. We used the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), and recorded the condition of patients as severe, moderate, mild, none. Results : After the treatments, all patients VAS of oozing was remarkably decreased. Conclusions : This study suggests that Hwanggigyejiomul-tang is effective on eczema with oozing.

Objectives : The study is to investigate clinical trial for efficacy and safety with acupuncture & suction in nasal cavity on snoring patients. Methods : 24 subjects were recruited from the patients received a hospital visit to the Semyung University Chungju oriental medical center and Jaechon oriental medical center from 1 October 2014 to 31 December 2014. According to the clinical protocol, we treated the patients with acupuncture and suction in the nasal cavity 8 times for 4 weeks. We compared their symptoms between before and after treatment. Results and Conclusions : 1. There was no significant decrease in the mechanical measurement of the reduction of snoring in the effectiveness of snoring patients, but there was a significant effect on the improvement of sleep quality and it was effective in improving the symptoms such as eye fatigue. 2. The safety of nasal treatment for snoring patients was normal in pre- and post-treatment Lab tests, and there was no adverse reaction before and after treatment. Acupuncture & suction in nasal cavity on snoring patients is efficient and safe.

본 논문은 수두로 인한 위축성 흉터 환자 16명에 대한 새싹테라피(절개침) 시술 후 개선도를 평가하여 연구한 바를 기록하였다. 그 결과 새싹테라피는 수두 흉터에 대해 시술효과를 판단하는 척도인 PGA, SBSES에서 좋은 결과를 보였으며 환자 만족도도 3가지 항목으로 세분화하여 평가했을 때 높은 개선 점수를 보였다. 이런 임상 결과로 미루어 볼 때 새싹테라피는 수두로 인한 위축성 흉터에게 좋은 치료적 방법이 될 것으로 예상되며, 시술 중 통증 및 시술 후 붉은 기의 개선이 과제로 남기에 이에 대한 한의학적 치료법 연구가 추가로 요구되는 바이다.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect and safety of Eunkyo-San on pityriasis rosea in children and to suggest antiviral effect of Eunkyo-san. Methods : We performed a retrospective chart review of three cases of pityriasis rosea in children younger than 10 years who treated with Eunkyo-san. Results : One patient recovered after taking Eunkyo-san 10 times for 10 days. The others recovered after taking Eunkyo-san 30 times for 22 days and hyperpigmentation was observed in one of them. Conclusions : It is expected that Eunkyo-san is thought to be effective and safe methods for the treatment of pityriasis rosea in children. Based on existing research, it is thought that Eunkyo-san has antiviral effect through the activation of immunological mechanism, and thus Eunkyo-san appears to have a therapeutic effect on pityriasis rosea.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of surgical method after Bufonis Venenum Pharmacopuncture Anesthesia on epidermal cyst. Methods : A 49-year-old male was presented with a $1.5{\times}1.5(cm)$ sized epidermal cyst on the upper back. Local anesthesia was achieved with Bufonis Venenum pharmacopuncture. After 5 minutes, 2.5cm incision was made using 11th blade. To minimize bleeding, the laser($CO_2$ Hani-maehwa laser-surgical mode) was excised to the cyst wall. After incision, cyst were separated and removed using adson forceps and iris scissors. Then buried intradermal suture and simple interrupted suture were performed. Yeonkyopaedok-san was administered for 5 days for anti-inflammatory effects. After 10 days, the suture was removed after confirmation of skin adhesion. Results : Cyst size measured $1.0{\times}1.0{\times}1.0(cm)$. Until the suture is removed, Adverse effects were not reported. Conclusions : Bufonis Venenum pharmacopuncture applies to local anesthesia. Korean medicine cautery method applies to laser($CO_2$ Hani-maehwa laser). It can be considered that To expand the application of surgical treatment in korean medicine.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of the combination of herbal medicine and western medicine in androgenetic alopecia patients. Methods : This case study was conducted for four androgenetic alopecia patients who have visited Korean medicine clinic. Gagamcheongyoung-tang($Ji{\bar{a}}ji{\check{a}}nq{\bar{i}}ngy{\acute{i}}ng-t{\bar{a}}ng$) was prescribed to all four patients who were already taking finasteride over 1 year. Improvements of patients were evaluated through photographs. Results : As a result of examining photographs, symptoms of alopecia in four cases were improved. Conclusions : Gagamcheongyoung-tang($Ji{\bar{a}}ji{\check{a}}nq\;{\bar{i}}ngy{\acute{i}}ng-t{\bar{a}}ng$) has advantages of treating a androgenetic alopecia patients who are taking finasteride longer than 1 year.
