  • Let R be a ring and ${\alpha}$ a monomorphism of R. We study the skew Laurent polynomial rings R[x, x$^{-1}$; ${\alpha}$] over an ${\alpha}$-skew Armendariz ring R. We show that, if R is an ${\alpha}$-skew Armendariz ring, then R is a Baer (resp. p.p.-)ring if and only if R[x, x$^{-1}$; ${\alpha}$] is a Baer (resp. p.p.-) ring. Consequently, if R is an Armendariz ring, then R is a Baer (resp. p.p.-)ring if and only if R[x, x$^{-1}$] is a Baer (resp. p.p.-)ring.

  • Let R be a commutative ring, G be an Abelian group, and let RG be the group ring. We say that RG is a U-group ring if a is a unit in RG if and only if ${\epsilon}(a)$ is a unit in R. We show that RG is a U-group ring if and only if G is a p-group and $p{\in}J(R)$. We give some properties of U-group rings and investigate some properties of well known rings, such as Hermite rings and rings with stable range, in the presence of U-group rings.

  • Linear complementary dual (LCD) codes are linear codes that intersect with their dual trivially. LCD cyclic codes have been known as reversible cyclic codes that had applications in data storage. Due to a newly discovered application in cryptography, interest in LCD codes has increased again. Although LCD codes over finite fields have been extensively studied so far, little work has been done on LCD codes over chain rings. In this paper, we are interested in structure of LCD codes over chain rings. We show that LCD codes over chain rings are free codes. We provide some necessary and sufficient conditions for an LCD code C over finite chain rings in terms of projections of linear codes. We also showed the existence of asymptotically good LCD codes over finite chain rings.

  • This paper is devoted to the study of strongly ${\alpha}-semicommutative$ rings, a generalization of strongly semicommutative and ${\alpha}-rigid$ rings. Although the n-by-n upper triangular matrix ring over any ring with identity is not strongly ${\bar{\alpha}}-semicommutative$ for $n{\geq}2$, we show that a special subring of the upper triangular matrix ring over a reduced ring is strongly ${\bar{\alpha}}-semicommutative$ under some additional conditions. Moreover, it is shown that if R is strongly ${\alpha}-semicommutative$ with ${\alpha}(1)=1$ and S is a domain, then the Dorroh extension D of R by S is strongly ${\bar{\alpha}}-semicommutative$.

  • Posner [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 8 (1957), 1093-1100] defined a derivation on prime rings and Herstein [Canad, Math. Bull. 21 (1978), 369-370] derived commutative property of prime ring with derivations. Recently, Bergen [Canad. Math. Bull. 26 (1983), 267-227], Bell and Daif [Acta. Math. Hunger. 66 (1995), 337-343] studied derivations in primes and semiprime rings. Also, in near-ring theory, Bell and Mason [Near-Rungs and Near-Fields (pp. 31-35), Proceedings of the conference held at the University of Tubingen, 1985. Noth-Holland, Amsterdam, 1987; Math. J. Okayama Univ. 34 (1992), 135-144] and Cho [Pusan Kyongnam Math. J. 12 (1996), no. 1, 63-69] researched derivations in prime and semiprime near-rings. In this paper, Posner, Bell and Mason's results are extended in prime near-rings with some conditions.

  • Let R be a ring, (S,${\leq}$) a strictly ordered monoid and ${\omega}$ : S ${\rightarrow}$ End(R) a monoid homomorphism. The skew generalized power series ring R[[S,${\omega}$]] is a common generalization of (skew) polynomial rings, (skew) power series rings, (skew) Laurent polynomial rings, (skew) group rings, and Mal'cev-Neumann Laurent series rings. In this paper, we investigate the interplay between the ring-theoretical properties of R[[S,${\omega}$]] and the graph-theoretical properties of its zero-divisor graph ${\Gamma}$(R[[S,${\omega}$]]). Furthermore, we examine the preservation of diameter and girth of the zero-divisor graph under extension to skew generalized power series rings.

  • Let R be a ring with identity and J(R) denote the Jacobson radical of R, i.e., the intersection of all maximal left ideals of R. A ring R is called J-symmetric if for any $a,b,c{\in}R$, abc = 0 implies $bac{\in}J(R)$. We prove that some results of symmetric rings can be extended to the J-symmetric rings for this general setting. We give many characterizations of such rings. We show that the class of J-symmetric rings lies strictly between the class of symmetric rings and the class of directly finite rings.

  • This article concerns the property that for any element a in a ring, if a2n = an for some n ≥ 2 then a2 = a. The class of rings with this property is large, but there also exist many kinds of rings without that, for example, rings of characteristic ≠2 and finite fields of characteristic ≥ 3. Rings with such a property is called reduced-over-idempotent. The study of reduced-over-idempotent rings is based on the fact that the characteristic is 2 and every nonzero non-identity element generates an infinite multiplicative semigroup without identity. It is proved that the reduced-over-idempotent property pass to polynomial rings, and we provide power series rings with a partial affirmative argument. It is also proved that every finitely generated subring of a locally finite reduced-over-idempotent ring is isomorphic to a finite direct product of copies of the prime field {0, 1}. A method to construct reduced-over-idempotent fields is also provided.

  • Let R be a commutative ring with identity. We call the ring R to be an almost quasi-coherent ring if for any finite set of elements α1, …, αp and a of R, there exists a positive integer m such that the ideals $\bigcap{_{i=1}^{p}}\;R{\alpha}^m_i$ and AnnRm) are finitely generated, and to be almost von Neumann regular rings if for any two elements a and b in R, there exists a positive integer n such that the ideal (αn, bn) is generated by an idempotent element. This paper establishes necessary and sufficient conditions for the Nagata's idealization and the amalgamated algebra to inherit these notions. Our results allow us to construct original examples of rings satisfying the above-mentioned properties.

  • A ring R is called a UN ring if every non unit of it can be written as product of a unit and a nilpotent element. We obtain results about lifting of conjugate idempotents and unit regular elements modulo an ideal I of a UN ring R. Matrix rings over UN rings are discussed and it is obtained that for a commutative ring R, a matrix ring Mn(R) is UN if and only if R is UN. Lastly, UN group rings are investigated and we obtain the conditions on a group G and a field K for the group algebra KG to be UN. Then we extend the results obtained for KG to the group ring RG over a ring R (which may not necessarily be a field).
