  • A rectifying sampling plan which assumes a prior distribution on the lot percent defective is considered. This sampling is developed for finite lot size N with matching OC curves and generated from an initial plan selected from single sampling by attributes.

  • A stochastic dynamic lot sizing problem for multi-item is suggested in the case that the distribution of the cumulative demand is known over finite planning horizons and all unsatisfied demand is fully backlogged. Each item is produced simultaneously at a variable ratio of input resources employed whenever setup is incurred. A dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to find the optimal production policy, which resembles the Wagner-Whitin algorithm for the deterministic case problem but with some additional feasibility constraints.

  • This paper considers a dynamic lot-sizing problem with backlogging under a minimum replenishment policy. For general concave production costs, we propose an O($T^5$) dynamic programming algorithm. If speculative motive is not allowed, in this case, a more efficient O($T^4$) algorithm is developed.

  • Set-up reduction is an important aspect of the Japanese Just-In-Time (JIT) and Zero Inventory (ZI) concepts. In this paper, we first analyze the effects of set-up cost reduction on tatal inventory, average lot size and forecast horizon in the dynamic lot size model. We also examine the various effects of set-up cost reduction in the EOQ model and explain why many Japanese firms try to cut set-up cost and/or set-up time greatly.

  • This paper presents another system of multi-level skip-lot sampling plan, which can directly retum to normal inspection from any skpping inspection level when a sudden shift for the worse in the process mean occurs. All the other properties of the proposed sampling plan are similar to those of the Choi's(1993) plan. The formula of the poerating characteristic function for the proposed n-level skip-lot sampling plan is derived. Sone poerating characteristic properties for the proposed plan are graphically compared with those of the Choi's plan.

  • Skip-Lot sampling plan is formulated in terms of renewal process. This approach facilitates studying the average outgoing quality in a short production run of length t, AOQ (t). By numerical studies it is found that the long-run average outgoing quality (AOQ) greatly overestimates AOQ (t) for short runs.

  • Previous MRP models were developed without considering learning effects on the determination of the production lot size environment. The only consideration was the setup and inventory holding costs. In this paper the proposed MRP model were developed incorporated the effects of learning. The result of this model show that learning significantly influence the production lot size and total variable cost. The numerical examples have been used to illustrated the impact of proposed model.

  • This characteristics of process industries are high capital intensity, relatively long and sequence dependent setup times, and extremely limited capacity resources. The lot sizing, sequencing and limited capacity resources factors must he considered for production scheduling in these industries. This paper presents a mixed integer programming model for production scheduling. The economic trade offs between capacitated lot sizing flow shop scheduling and sequence dependent setup times also be compared with SMITH-DANIELS's model. As a results, it is shown that this paper has lower total cost, more efficient throughput than SMITH-DANIELS's model.
