  • As a way to improve the software education ability of the pre - service teachers, we conducted programming learning using two types of programming tools (Python and Scratch) at the regular course time. In programming learning, various types of errors, which are factors that continuously hinder interest, achievement and creativity, were collected and analyzed by type. By using the analyzed data, it is possible to improve the ability of pre-service teachers to cope with the errors that can occur in the software education to be taught in the elementary school, and to improve the learning effect. In this study, logic error (37.63%) was the most frequent type that caused the most errors in programming in both conventional language that input text and language that assembles block. In addition, the detailed errors that show a lot of differences in the two languages are the errors of Python (14.3%) and scratch (3.5%) due to insufficient use of grammar and other errors.

  • This paper is to design smart based collaborative learning model for programming education of fifth graders of elementary school and applies it to a class and analyze its result. Designed learning model is composed of understanding of concept, realization, learning and sharing and it includes step by step learning materials and smart based collaborative learning activities. Scratch traffic light learning materials at leaning stage classify content to be checked in programming by colors and write to support programming internalization of learners. Provision of smart based collaborative learning activities that considered learning conditions of learners makes it possible for beginners to participate in and keep study actively. This study showed that there was statistically significant difference in learners' programming interest and those who achieved over 8 out of 10 points were 60.7% at three stage evaluations for achievement level that applied learning model which suggests that satisfactory achievement level is achieved.

  • In these days, most countries effort is to raise competitive people for increasing creativity. Korea also decided human character "Global Creative Person" and prepare for the future. Therefore many universities and laboratories suggest various educational model for increasing creativity. One of the educational model for increasing creativity is Computer Education. That is good at increasing creativity, especially programming education because it is a more effective education. Thus, this research suggests that program for increasing creativity through developing "SRD Program". SRD Program is for increasing creativity and it applies to Scratch Programming, Robot Programming, and Digital Kit. Furthermore, SRD Program is developed and is based on Bruner's Spiral curriculum. Therefore, this research suggests increasing diverse programs for enhancing creativity and there are expectation for raising "Global Creative Person" through SRD Program.

  • Programming learning has been recognized as a difficult subject for a long time. To solve these problems, various studies have been conducted. This study was conducted on motivation to break away from programming learning according to gender, one of the characteristics of learners. In this study, pre-post questionnaire surveys were conducted for male students and female students who were involved in scratch learning and Python learning. The results of the study showed that male students had higher confidence in programming learning than female students, but there was no significant difference in overall items. In addition, it was possible to find the difference in motivation to break out from the learning according to the major of students by gender. Through this study, it is expected that it will be helpful to prepare learning strategies to enhance learning motivation and satisfaction by considering learner characteristics in programming learning.

  • Recently, each university has been lecturing a lot on the liberal arts subject by emphasizing software education. However, students are often motivated by the difficulty of learning programming, the inability to recognize why they should learn programming, or even the fact that they do not try. The reason for the resilience is to guide programming learning to have the power to recover from the point of abandonment to proceed with the learning again. In this study, recovery elasticity pre-post-examination was conducted on the parts that learned scratches and those that learned Python. Studies have shown that while Scratch appears to be trying to accept and work harder, Python has been relatively more difficult than Scratch. It is expected that this study will help identify the factors that can sustain programming learning.

  • This study propose the educational potential of an activity that solves the task of one-stroke drawing of complex figures using a drag-and-drop type educational programming language such as Scratch. The problem of determining whether a given shape is capable of one-stroke drawing is a separate problem from actually finding the path of one-stroke drawing and implementing it through programming. In particular, finding a path that allows one-stroke drawing of complex shapes with regularity and implementing it through programming requires problem-solving capabilities based on the convergence of various mathematical knowledge. Accordingly, in this study, problems related to one-stroke drawing concerning polygon-related shapes, tessellation-related shapes, and fractal shapes were presented, and the results of one-stroke drawing programming of the shapes were exemplified. In addition, the mathematical knowledge and computational thinking elements necessary for the solution of the illustrated problem were analyzed. This study is significant as a new example of the mathematics education that combines mathematics and information.

  • In this paper, we proposed the education program using Scratch as an alternative activity for the remedy program of game addiction. We tried to find the solution through computer and game that affect the problem of game addiction. We choose the high-risk students about game addiction disposition and took a programming lesson for educational game development with consultation class. We also analysed the effectiveness of our remedy program. We found the positive results between before and after the program and we analysed that game connectivity rates were decreased during recess time. In interview and observation about students, we found that the students were changed to the positive tendency about game addiction. We expect this program will give many help for solving the problem of game addiction, if this research is applied to the regular class in elementary school.

  • In this paper, the elementary students from the Information class of the Science Education Institute for the Gifted were divided into the experimental and control groups. The two groups took Scratch programming classes and the changes in their sociality were analyzed. The experimental group used the Scratch remix function, an educational programming language, to perform the LT cooperative learning. The control group took general instructor-led classes. The experimental group carried out a team project in which learners should cooperate with each other to produce certain results using the remix function. Twelve 3-hour lessons were taken by the experimental and control groups consisting of 30 and 30 students respectively to verify changes depending on remix-based cooperative learning. According to t-test using the survey results, the experimental group that performed cooperative learning using the Scratch remix function showed more improved sociality than the control group did. There was a statistically significant difference as well.

  • This research targeted some content of curriculum of the 2nd semester of the 6th grade to search a method for algorithm realization and digital programing of the regular curriculum. This research analyzed the effect of programing study on the elementary school students by analyzing the survey and teachers' evaluation result after programing utilized with some curriculum along with scratch and sensor board after conducting a class on 6th graders. As the result, interest and participation of programing study appeared higher, respectively 9.37% and 7.53% when sensor board, the hardware, rather than merely utilizing scratch while programing study. Also, understanding of class displayed 7.53% higher. Achievement evaluation that evaluated effective completion of programing, also, was analyzed effective, since it is available for a wide algorithm realization.

  • Knowledge-based society requests the ability to reuse existing knowledge beyond acquirement and utilization of universal knowledge. The present education of computer, on the other hand, is biased only teaching how to use software. But it does not appropriate for the education to boost various and creative thinking. Thus, this paper carried out research on creativity to be treated in the goal of the 7th Educational Curriculum. Also it selected and analysed computer programming languages-'LOGO' and 'Scratch'. Furthermore, it develops a training material and applies to elementary students in schools. The result that it compares and analyzes the effect that each languages influence to creativity of students, both of them help to develop creativity. Especially 'LOGO' made a positive impact on fluency, 'Scratch' did on ness and resistance.
