  • Let D be an integral domain, and let U be a group of units of D. Let $D^*=D-\{0\}$ and ${\Gamma}=D^*/U$ be the commutative cancellative semigroup under aU+bU=abU. We prove that $Cl(D)=Cl({\Gamma})$ and that D is a PvMD (resp., GCD-domain, Mori domain, Krull domain, factorial domain) if and only if ${\Gamma}$ is a PvMS(resp., GCD-semigroup, Mori semigroup, Krull semigroup, factorial semigroup). Let U=U(D) be the group of units of D. We also show that if D is integrally closed, then $D[{\Gamma}]$, the semigroup ring of ${\Gamma}$ over D, is an integrally closed domain with $Cl(D[{\Gamma}])=Cl(D){\oplus}Cl(D)$; hence D is a PvMD (resp., GCD-domain, Krull domain, factorial domain) if and only if $D[{\Gamma}]$ is.

  • Let D be an integral domain, S be a saturated multi-plicative subset of D such that $D_S$ is a factorial domain, $\{X_{\alpha}\}$ be a nonempty set of indeterminates, and $D[\{X_{\alpha}\}]$ be the polynomial ring over D. We show that S is a splitting (resp., almost splitting, t-splitting) set in D if and only if every nonzero prime t-ideal of D disjoint from S is principal (resp., contains a primary element, is t-invertible). We use this result to show that $D{\backslash}\{0\}$ is a splitting (resp., almost splitting, t-splitting) set in $D[\{X_{\alpha}\}]$ if and only if D is a GCD-domain (resp., UMT-domain with $Cl(D[\{X_{\alpha}\}]$ torsion UMT-domain).

  • Let D be an integral domain, X be an indeterminate over D, D[X] be the polynomial ring over D, and D(X) be the Nagata ring of D. Let [d] be the star operation on D[X], which is an extension of the d-operation on D as in [5, Theorem 2.3]. In this paper, we show that D is a sharp domain if and only if D[X] is a [d]-sharp domain, if and only if D(X) is a sharp domain.

  • Let D be an integral domain, t be the so-called t-operation on D, and S be a (not necessarily saturated) multiplicative subset of D. In this paper, we study the Nagata ring of S-Noetherian domains and locally S-Noetherian domains. We also investigate the t-Nagata ring of t-locally S-Noetherian domains. In fact, we show that if S is an anti-archimedean subset of D, then D is an S-Noetherian domain (respectively, locally S-Noetherian domain) if and only if the Nagata ring $D[X]_N$ is an S-Noetherian domain (respectively, locally S-Noetherian domain). We also prove that if S is an anti-archimedean subset of D, then D is a t-locally S-Noetherian domain if and only if the polynomial ring D[X] is a t-locally S-Noetherian domain, if and only if the t-Nagata ring $D[X]_{N_v}$ is a t-locally S-Noetherian domain.

  • It is well known that an integral domain D is a Dedekind domain if and only if D is a Noetherian almost Dedekind domain. In this paper, we show that an integral domain D is a Dedekind domain if and only if D is an almost Dedekind domain such that Max(D) is a Noetherian topological space as a subspace of Spec(D) with respect to the Zariski topology. We also give a new characterization of ZPI-rings.

  • Let D be an integral domain, and let ${\bar{D}}$ be the integral closure of D. We show that if D is an almost pseudo-valuation domain (APVD), then D is a quasi-$Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domain if and only if D=P is a quasi-$Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domain for each prime ideal P of D, if and only if ${\bar{D}}$ is a valuation domain. We also show that D(X), the Nagata ring of D, is a locally APVD if and only if D is a locally APVD and ${\bar{D}}$ is a $Pr{\ddot{u}}fer$ domain.

  • Let D be an integral domain, X be an indeterminate over D, and $N_v=\{f{\in}D[X]{\mid}(A_f)_v=D\}$. In this paper, we introduce the concept of t-locally divided domains, and we then prove that $D[X]_{N_v}$ is a locally divided domain if and only if D is a t-locally divided UMT-domain, if and only if D[X] is a t-locally divided domain.

  • Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K, X be a nonempty set of indeterminates over D, * be a star operation on D, $N_*$={f $\in$ D[X]|c(f)$^*$= D}, $*_w$ be the star operation on D defined by $I^{*_w}$ = ID[X]${_N}_*$ $\cap$ K, and [*] be the star operation on D[X] canonically associated to * as in Theorem 2.1. Let $A^g$ (resp., $A^{[*]g}$, $A^{[*]g}$) be the global (resp.,*-global, [*]-global) transform of a ring A. We show that D is a $*_w$-Noetherian domain if and only if D[X] is a [*]-Noetherian domain. We prove that $D^{*g}$[X]${_N}_*$ = (D[X]${_N}_*$)$^g$ = (D[X])$^{[*]g}$; hence if D is a $*_w$-Noetherian domain, then each ring between D[X]${_N}_*$ and $D^{*g}$[X]${_N}_*$ is a Noetherian domain. Let $\tilde{D}$ = $\cap${$D_P$|P $\in$ $*_w$-Max(D) and htP $\geq$2}. We show that $D\;\subseteq\;\tilde{D}\;\subseteq\;D^{*g}$ and study some properties of $\tilde{D}$ and $D^{*g}$.

  • In [1], the authors generalize the concept of the class group of an integral domain $D(Cl_t(D))$ by introducing the notion of the S-class group of an integral domain where S is a multiplicative subset of D. The S-class group of D, $S-Cl_t(D)$, is the group of fractional t-invertible t-ideals of D under the t-multiplication modulo its subgroup of S-principal t-invertible t-ideals of D. In this paper we study when $S-Cl_t(D){\simeq}S-Cl_t(D_T)$, where T is a multiplicative subset generated by prime elements of D. We show that if D is a Mori domain, T a multiplicative subset generated by prime elements of D and S a multiplicative subset of D, then the natural homomorphism $S-Cl_t(D){\rightarrow}S-Cl_t(D_T)$ is an isomorphism. In particular, we give an S-version of Nagata's Theorem [13]: Let D be a Krull domain, T a multiplicative subset generated by prime elements of D and S another multiplicative subset of D. If $D_T$ is an S-factorial domain, then D is an S-factorial domain.

  • Let D be an integral domain, X an indeterminate over D, $N_v = \{f{\in}D[X]|(A_f)_v=D\}.$. Among other things, we introduce the concept of t-locally PVDs and prove that $D[X]N_v$ is a locally PVD if and only if D is a t-locally PVD and a UMT-domain, if and only if D[X] is a t-locally PVD, if and only if each overring of $D[X]N_v$ is a locally PVD.
