A Study on Early Childhood Creativity and the Development of a Personality Education Program for Preschoolers Through Music Activities (음악 활동을 통한 유아 창의·인성교육 프로그램의 개발 및 효과)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop an education program using music activities for promoting young children's creativity and personality and to analyze the impact of this program on the creativity and personality of young children in child care classrooms. Methods: The study consisted of how the creativity and personality education program using music activities for young children was developed and the impact of the program on 5-year-old children's creativity and personality. The experimental treatment was conducted on a total of 16 occasions for eight weeks. The data were collected through the preschooler Creativity test(K·CCTYC) and The Empathy Index for Children and Adolescents (IECA) and Skill Situation Measures were used to analyze the effects of experimental treatment with paired t-test. Results: First, the program had positive effects on fluency, flexibility, originality and imagination of creativity. Second, the program had positive effects on empathy ability and prosociality. Conclusion/Implications: The effectiveness of the creativity and personality education programs using music activities for promoting young children's creativity and personality and the ways to promote young children's creativity and personality in early childhood educations institutes were discussed.

How can we Develop Students' Creativity? : Redesigning a Creativity Program based on Flow Theory

  • To produce highly creative students, engineering education must develop both problem recognition skills and the ability to solve problems independently. Chonnam National University has been developing a creativity program in which students identify and solve problems themselves. Initially, the primary focus was on solving problems, but this was unsuccessful at attracting the students' interest. To overcome this, we adopted Csikszentmihalyi's flow theory in our creativity program, much like the way this theory is used in computer games. As a result of adopting flow theory, we achieved our goal. Thus, in this paper, we will introduce Chonnam National University's creativity program (designed based on flow theory), which we will call the Self-Directed Creativity-Upgrade Program. Furthermore, we will discuss the impact of this program based on statistical analyses.

What Makes Korea-Israel Science Teachers Inservice Program for Fostering Learners' Creativity Effective? (창의성 계발 과학교육을 위한 한국 - 이스라엘 과학교사 연수프로그램의 효율성)

  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Korea-Israel science teachers inservice program. Thirty science teachers who participated in the inservice program responded to pre- and post tests of the survey instrument on (a) their perceptions to creativity fostering science education and understandings of current education status and reform movement, (b) degrees of changes about understanding of creativity and implementing teaching methods for fostering creativity before and after the program, and (c) their evaluative opinions on the program. Suggestions for improving the program were proposed as follows: First, a pre-service workshop for the program should be provided in order to clearly realize the essential purpose of the program through increase of participating teachers' understanding of facing conditions of education, school policy, reform movement toward science education fostering creativity. Second, for the content of the program, creativity is more emphasized. Appropriate content and sufficient time arrangement for creativity will develop teachers' conceptual understanding of creativity in depth. Third, classroom observation of exemplary science teaching for fostering creativity should be sufficiently arranged. Fourth, amount of content and time allotment to Israel culture, religion, and education system should be reduced.

The effect of the extensive program using the storytelling on young children's linguistic creativity (동화와 관련된 확장활동이 유아의 언어 창의성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to explore the effect of the extensive program using the story telling on young children's linguistic creativity. 20 five-year-olds and 18 four-year-olds from a day care center were selected for this study. After performing pre-test, they were divided into control and experimental group. Children's linguistic creativity was measured using 'Imagining Red' of 'Korean Comprehensive Creativity Test for Young Children' standardized by Chun(2000). 6 books were selected for the extensive program for the promotion of children's linguistic creativity was carried out to experimental group for three weeks. After three weeks, post-test was performed on experimental and control group. The results indicate that the extensive program using the storytelling had an effect on promoting young children's linguistic creativity including the sub-elements such as fluency, flexibility, and originality. As the results of experiencing the extensive program related to storytelling, the linguistic creativity of 5 year olds improved more than that of 4 year aids and that of girls improved more than that of boys. For the developing children's linguistic creativity, various extensive activities need to be programmed.

A Modularized Approach to the Development of the Creativity Learning Program

  • Art education in design has repeatedly stressed the importance of developing creativity. In the digital period, however, which shows rapid change in both forms and contents, it needs to be equipped with more flexible and systematic ways of approaching to the creativity development, especially involved with cultural diversity of the digital world. This paper primarily proposes a maximally efficient, productive creativity learning program in which the integration of expressive media and communication generates a comprehensive network of communicative information in the development of digital technologies, which, consequently, brings forth valuable cultural contents of art. The amalgamation of Won (2006)'s Prism Effect, with distinctive three devices, and the facilitator factors, with two different facilitators such as self-controlled and controlled plays, would function as a catalyst for cultural diversity in the digital forms and contents of art. And this will, consequently, result in producing a number of practices that can be classified and assorted for a later performance. This paper thus suggests a roadmap of how to develop the creativity learning program in which two categories of facilitators based on three thinking devices function to classify four activities. In addition, selected activities are shaped as a creativity learning program by generating learning practices with the formalizing instructional strategy that fit into a specialized educational environment and learners. The samples of loaming practice design show guidelines for practice and the results of learning activity. Therefore, the eventual goal of this paper would be to establish a creativity learning program that constitutes a highly systematized and modularized database to maximize the efficiency and productivity of the creativity development.

  • The effects and factors of the creativity education program on the creative self-efficacy of engineering college students were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the creative self-efficacy of students who took the creativity education program was improved, and the effect was statistically significant. The learning contents factors affecting the improvement of creative self-efficacy was 'creativity development attribute and creative attitude' and the learning activity factor was 'taking theoretical lectures' about creativity.

  • The aim of this study was to examine the longitudinal effect of Pre-service Teacher Education Program for Children's Creativity. The participants of this study were 67 pre-service teachers in Seoul, Kyungggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Thirty-six pre-service teachers were assigned to the control group and pre-service teachers were assigned to the experimental group. Pre-service teacher's creativity was measured in three times. TTCT was applied to measure pre-service teacher's creativity and their children's creativity. Multivariate Latent Growth Model was applied to verify the effect of the program on pre-service teacher's creativity. Also, Multiple Regression was used to examine the effect of the program on their children's creativity. As a result, the participation of the program was longitudinally effective on not only pre-service teacher's creativity development but also their children's creativity. The results of current study suggested that it is necessary to help the pre-service teachers foster their creativity in early childhood teacher preparation program.

The effect of e-PBL based Scientific Writing Program for the Science Gifted Children on Creativity and Scientific Attitude (e-PBL을 활용한 과학 독서 논술 프로그램이 초등과학영재의 창의성 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the science gifted children's creativity and scientific attitude development by e-PBL based scientific writing program. This program is composed of 4 instructions (13 hours), and its learning contents are made up to guide reading the related science books and understanding the contents through mind map to find out a solution by themselves, also, making an independent problem into group issue and setting up the plan for solution through small group cooperative learning, finally, performing activities like writing, presentation, evaluation and discussion according to the plan for solution. To examine the effect of creativity and scientific attitude by the program, 40 students of elementary science gifted children group in the Busan national university of education were selected for an experimental group. The review result is that, Firstly, the program affected positively creativity improvement of elementary science gifted children, Secondly, the program affects positively scientific attitude improvement of them as well. In conclusion, the program affects positively their creativity and scientific attitude.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a fashion design creativity convergence education program based on creative thinking that can be effectively used to create a creative fashion design in the fashion education field, and to verify the suitability of this program and its effectiveness in improving creativity. To this end, a fashion design creative convergence program combining divergent thinking and convergence thinking was designed, and an experimental study was conducted among college students in the fashion design department. Creativity evaluation was conducted by evaluating students' creative ability and creativity of fashion design results. In addition, an open survey was conducted to collect learners' opinions on the suitability of the program and the convergence process of divergent and convergent thinking. As a result of this study, it was found that the fashion design creative convergence education program based on creative thinking improves the creative competency of major learners of fashion design and is the learning performance competency in the process of producing creative results. This study is meaningful as it is a basic study that proposes a fashion design education program to foster the creative competency of fashion design majors, and is expected to be used in various ways in the educational field.

Development of Program Model for Enhancing Creativity through SRD Program (SRD Program을 통한 창의성 신장 프로그램 모형 개발)

  • In these days, most countries effort is to raise competitive people for increasing creativity. Korea also decided human character "Global Creative Person" and prepare for the future. Therefore many universities and laboratories suggest various educational model for increasing creativity. One of the educational model for increasing creativity is Computer Education. That is good at increasing creativity, especially programming education because it is a more effective education. Thus, this research suggests that program for increasing creativity through developing "SRD Program". SRD Program is for increasing creativity and it applies to Scratch Programming, Robot Programming, and Digital Kit. Furthermore, SRD Program is developed and is based on Bruner's Spiral curriculum. Therefore, this research suggests increasing diverse programs for enhancing creativity and there are expectation for raising "Global Creative Person" through SRD Program.
