  • The purpose of the present study was to verify the structural relationship among metacognition, interactions, problem solving ability and achievement in gifted students through the 3P model. In this study, factors affecting the performance of gifted education are based on 3P(presage, precess. product) theory(Biggs, 2003). Participants attended a 174 gifted student in institutes for the gifted education in the city office of education in Korea. A hypothetical model was proposed, which was composed of metacognition and interactions as exogenous variables; and problem solving ability and achievement as endogenous variables. The results of this study are as follows: First, metacognition and interactions had significant effects on gifted students' problem solving ability. Second, problem solving ability had significant effects on gifted students' achievement. And problem solving ability was verified as a complete mediating variable between metacognition and achievement also interactions and achievement.

  • The purpose of the present study was to verify the structural relationship among task commitment, self regulation learning ability, parent support, satisfaction and achievement in gifted education. In this study, factors affecting the performance of gifted education are based on Differentiated Model of Gifted and Talent($Gagn{\acute{e}}$, 2004). Participants attended a 182 student in institutes for the gifted education in the city office of education in Korea. A hypothetical model was proposed, which was composed of task commitment, self regulation learning ability and parent support as exogenous variables; and satisfaction and achievement as endogenous variables. The results of this study are as follows: First, task commitment, self regulation learning ability and parent support had significant effects on gifted education's satisfaction. Second, task commitment and parent support had significant effects on gifted education's achievement.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between process variables, personality traits, intrinsic/extrinsic motivation and their mathematical creativity and how much these factors affect this creativity. These results show the major factor in mathematical creativity as being the gender difference between the gifted male and female middle school students. This also suggests that the education and living guidance of both gifted male and female students should take a different direction in relation to their gender differences in middle schools. In conclusion, all of the normal intellective and non-intellective factors, as well as home process variables, are the basic major data concerned with the effects of mathematical creativity. So, it is with all of this research that the proof for researching synthetically via a new creative research model can be offered.

  • This study aims to examine how Science Gifted Education Center(SGEC) affect the decision of graduates of gifted education institute in applying for science-related Special high school. To this end, the study investigated factors that affected their decision on applying for higher SGEC, such as career goal prior to their admission to a SGEC, motivation for the admission, and curricular activities at SGEC. A questionnaire survey was administered on 30 students, and resulting data were used as basic information to construct interview questions. Selected 22 students among them were interviewed separately, with transcripts of the recorded interviews being analyzed. The results of the study indicate that among many factors of SGEC for the gifted which affected student's choice of special-purpose high school of science, activities of the center putting an emphasis on open research activities and social interaction had a positive effect on the students' choice of special high school.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the implications after investigating how gifted education affected the school achievements and academic skills of students who have experience of gifted education. In this study, academic skills include academic knowledge, creative problem solving skills, logical thinking, persuasive skills, collaborative skills, self-directed learning skills, communication skills. The survey was conducted with 1,156 science high school and science academy students who have ongoing gifted education experience and depth interviews were also analyzed with some students to gather further in-depth information. As a result, students responded that gifted education affected very positively on knowledge, collaborative skills, communication skills and increased interest in related subjects. On the other hand, it showed lower positive responses on self-directed learning skills and persuasive skills. Also, students replied gifted education did not affect the school achievements but there was an opportunity to learn how to debate, research, and experiment and practice methods. The direction of gifted education to step forward was suggested based on these results. This study can be the basis for revising gifted education curriculum.

  • This study analyzed the perception of effectiveness and satisfaction according to learners' background variables and characteristics in online gifted education program. The participants included 630 middle and high school students who attended the 3-months online gifted program. Participants volunteerly surveyed on background and characteristics such as gender, grade, subjects, self-efficacy of internet, and self-regulated learning, and the effectiveness and satisfaction of the online gifted education program. T-test, ANOVA, and MANOVA were conducted to analyze the effect of students' background and characteristics on various dependent variables. The results of this study showed that (1) overall, participants perceived the effectiveness of the online gifted program positively; (2) participants perceived the satisfaction of the online gifted program positively. In specific, they perceived system satisfaction higher than interaction satisfaction. (3) the personal characteristics which impacted on both effectiveness and satisfaction were grade, self-efficacy of internet, and self-regulated learning. Suggestion for the online gifted education program were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the longitudinal impact of the engagement of private tutoring on student achievement and the influence of the engagement of gifted education on the effect of private tutoring by applying hierarchical linear growth modeling technique on the KELS (Korean Education Longitudinal Study) data. For the analysis, we used KELS data including the score of Mathematics achievement from 2005 to 2007 in order to get useful variables like whether or not to engage private tutoring, weekly time and monthly cost of private tutoring, the experience of gifted education, gender, prior achievement of 6th grade, parents' monthly income, internal motivation and self-efficacy. The sample consisted of 4,435 7th graders from Korean middle schools who were included in the KELS and have the data available to a significant dataset having no missing values include. The result suggest that the private tutoring experience predicted students' high Mathematics achievement and the interaction between grade and private tutoring time and cost has negative impact on the mathematics achievement. In contrast, it was found that the experience of gifted education has negative impact on the growth of mathematics achievement, but positive impact on the effect of private tutoring cost on the mathematics achievement. In other words, the experience of gifted education shows affirmative impact on the effect of private tutoring cost on the mathematics achievement indirectly. On the basis of this results, we discussed deeply the effect of private tutoring on the Mathematics achievement and the influence and its meaning of the experience of gifted education on the effect of private tutoring.

  • This study analyzed the effects of university-based science education programs on the gifted's science career orientation. The subject of this study was 74 students who had university-based science gifted education programs on 2014. They took 'Science Career Orientation' tests and questionnaires before and after the program. We had a cluster analysis about pre scores on 'Science Career Orientation' as a variable. We analyzed the satisfaction level and effect of science career decision by groups after the program. As results, they were divided into four groups by cluster analysis. University-based science education program helped the increase of science career orientation in the categories indicating the low scores of the groups. They showed high satisfaction level and positive effects of science career decision, and the programs affecting their science career decision and satisfaction about that were different by groups. Satisfaction level and effects of science career decision are highly correlated.
