The purpose of this study was to develop the instruments which can measure motivation as a component of Visual Artistic Giftedness with in elementary school period. This study prescribed the variable factors of measurement after abstract and classify the characteristics of Visual Artistic Giftedness through literature studies. And it produced instruments those are finally composed of 27 items through the preliminary test. They were evaluated in terms of content validity, construct validity, and reliability by implementing them to 679 elementary school children from the first to sixth grades. Statistical analyses were carried out to verify the validities and reliability. Content validity was found to be satisfactory by experts' evaluation on the test items. Construct validity was also found to be satisfactory through factor analyses which showed the four factors which the identification instruments were intended to measure such as, interest/ attitude/ taste, endurance/ concentration, curiosity/ imagination! sensitiveness, aesthetic. Concurrent validity was also found to be satisfactory with high coeffients of Barron- Welsh which were calculated as .76 in motivation. In conclusion, the instruments about motivation of Visual Artistic Giftedness during elementary school period developed by this study are highly reliable on its reliability and validity.
The emergence of post-human beings in the 4th Industrial Revolution era led to an epistemological shift in the need for reflection on new relationships with non-human beings, away from human-centered modern humanism. For this reflection, post-human sensibility to empathize and understand the surrounding world is required. In order to cultivate this sensibility, we analyzed the case of art works that can think about and experience the post-human era based on the criteria of 'animal-becoming', 'earth-becoming', and 'machine-being' presented by post-humanist researcher Bridotti. Since the work of art reflects the spirit of the era, we confirmed the positive aspect of the text that can reflect and experience the post-human era. This study is meaningful as a basic study by presenting art works that can be used in art education to improve post-human sensitivity.
The expansion of the performing arts market to include new genres of art that combine art and cutting-edge media technology has surpassed the limitations of traditional theatre art elements such as stage, costumes, lighting, sound, and props, allowing free expression of space-time and visual art. It is growing into a wide area with unlimited potential in the performing arts sector. In response to these changes and the demands of the time, there is an increasing demand for multi-talents who can plan and produce arts and technology-converged contents that will contribute to the development of the performing arts industry. As a result, university departments related to theatre art across the country feel that it is urgent to develop curricula that will enhance students' competency by incorporating the latest media technologies such as virtual reality, holography, and interactive motion sensors into the existing performance art visualization process. In this study, the author will examine the process of developing courses in technology-incorporated theatre art (design) through case studies of media technology-converged performances from the past 10 years. Based on the traditional concept of theatre art, the attempt to fuse stage art with media technology will be a cornerstone of attempts to foster a group of talented artists who transcend the limits of creative visual expression and creative value.
This study aims not only to access the visual thought-oriented approach that has been implemented in established art therapy and education but also to integrate language education and therapeutic approach to support the development of school-age children. Thus, text mining technique was applied to search for areas where different areas of language and art can be integrated. This research was conducted in accordance with the procedure of basic research, preliminary DB construction, text screening, DB pre-processing and confirmation, stop-words removing, text mining analysis and the deduction about the convergent areas. These results demonstrated that this study draws convergence areas related to regional, communication, and learning functions, areas related to problem solving and sensory organs, areas related to art and intelligence, areas related to information and communication, areas related to home and disability, topics, conceptualization, peer-related areas, integration, reorganization, attitudes. In conclusion, this study is meaningful in that it established a framework for designing an activity-centered convergence program of art and language in the future and attempted a holistic approach to support child development.
The aims of this study were to organize whether the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program could be applicable to young children, and whether this program would be effective to the development of young children's art competence. This study consisted of two steps: development of the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program and examination of its impact on children's art competence. This study used a two-group pretest/posttest design. Statistical analyses employed for this study were descriptive analysis, ANOVA, and repeated measure ANOVA. The results were as follows. Firstly, the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program was developed based on a literature review relevant of current art education. Secondly, the experimental group revealed a significant improvement in four components, whereas the control group showed a significant, but slight improvement compared with the experimental group in only three components. Thirdly, in between group comparison, a competencies on the four components based on multiple-creative ability in the experiment group were higher than that of the control group and the difference between both groups was statistically significant. Therefore, the program seemed to be effective in the improvement of art competence and multiple-creative ability. In addition, recommendation for the future research about after school teachers' and parents' recognition of the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program and strategies for its application are suggested.
Until now, research to integrate art activities and science education have been making steady progress in the field of primary education and early childhood education that are directly involved in the art education of students. However, some science educators were interested in visualizing the artifacts by using design principles and experimental results through STEAM education. So, when conducting lessons for integrating science education with art activities, research is needed on the changing of the students' ability. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of science experiments in collaboration with art activities for students' self-directed learning skills and creative personality in elementary school. This study was applied to 30 students(16 male, 14 female) of 4th grade in Changwon C elementary school. The teaching materials of this study was extracted some of the experiments from the 2007 revised national curriculum in elementary science textbook and 'Teachers for Exciting Science'. Experimental treatment was performed over a total of 10 class 5 subjects and a pre-post test was conducted through G-TAGAS. As a result, science experiments in collaboration with art activities have improved significantly students' self-directed learning skills and creative personality.
Mathematics(group theory, in particular) makes it partially possible to present and create music and patterns. This means that patterns can be presented by music through mathematics. In this work, we first produce musical piece for each type of frieze patterns. Based on the musical pieces, we compose a music presenting the combined pattern of all frieze types. We finally produce a video for hearing design through music. Through a QR-code, anyone can access the product of this work. The results of this research might be examples for integration of mathematics and arts and for utilizing smart circumstances.
Cyberbullying, one of the acts of cyber violence, is becoming a problem as digital devices become popular. Therefore, this study intends to provide pictograms that can communicate visually in order to raise awareness of cyberbullying prevention. 'Cyberbullying prevention pictogram' was conducted in total 6 times for 5 middle and high school boys. After analyzing the works, the results of this study are as follows. First, we investigated the change of cyberbullying recognition, empathy sensitivity, message visualization and social participation. First, the learner relaxed the burden of the art expression by using app, and the interest of the art was improved. Second, the learner recognized the seriousness of cyberbullying's violence and recognized the importance of preventing cyberbullying. Third, the learner improved sympathy sensitivity that sympathizes the suffering of cyberbullying victims. Fourth, cyberbullying prevention pictograms improved the ability to read, utilize and interpret visual images through sharing works. Fifth, the work was posted on an Instagram to give concrete action on social problems. In conclusion, we proved the effectiveness of cyberbullying prevention art class using pictograms.
The purpose of this study was to understand educational changes and effects of cognitive behavioral art therapy using the smart device. The participant of the study was a 4th grade of male elementary school student who had aggressiveness and impulsiveness with emotional instability. The study was conducted one to two times a week for six months with a total of 30 educational sessions. Among 80 minutes per session, 60 minutes of art therapy and 20 minutes of cognitive behavioral therapy were applied, and during the sessions, cognitive action art therapy (drawing and shaping activities), cognitive restructuring, behavioral modification, systemic dullness, social skills training, empathy and landscaping training were applied. For the numeral assessment, Traffic Anxiety Inventory for Children (TAIC), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and emotional instability measures were used. Research showed that cognitive behavioral art therapy using smart devices had the effect of positive emotional change in children with emotional anxiety, and based on this, future development directions including systematic instructional design, scientific analysis and feedback technologies were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to develop the inspection model of cognitive ability to identify visual artistic giftedness of the elementary school children with considering the relation between visual artistic giftedness and cognitive ability based on literature and preceding research. The research method applied literature research and quantitative research. Through literature review on the relation between art education and cognitive thinking and visual artistic of giftedness, it was suggested to prescribe the validity of cognitive ability as an element for identification of visual artistic giftedness identification, and then prescribed the elements of cognitive ability, and developed the inspection model of cognitive ability by measuring specific variables. Based on the results of literature research through the quantitative research, verified significance of developed inspection instrument on cognitive ability, validity and reliability of the inspection model of cognitive ability according to visual artistic giftedness identification of the elementary school children. As a result of reviewing related literature and preceding research, it could be referred that visual thinking ability, spatial perception power and critical thinking ability coincided with a characteristic of an art field can show excellent ability in various art activities and be valid criteria of visual artistic giftedness as cognitive ability of the visual artistic gifted with potential possibilities. In conclusion, as the elements of cognitive ability for the visual artistic giftedness identification of the elementary school children, visual thinking ability, spatial perception power and critical thinking ability were verified to be valid in terms of logical and experimental.
