This study was conducted on 115 students from 4 classes of 2nd year intensive courses at B University of Education. Elementary preservice teachers were surveyed on what teaching methods they were aware of regarding the subject of elementary science astronomy. Recognition data of 80 people from whom the questionnaire was collected were analyzed. For this study, a 5-day survey was conducted. Elementary preservice teachers complained of difficulties in teaching methods in the astronomy area among various areas of the science department. The purpose of this study was to find out what difficulties elementary preservice teachers have in teaching elementary science astronomy topics, and to find more efficient teaching methods for teaching astronomy topics. The topic of the survey was set by discussing with the preparatory elementary teachers about what kind of survey to use in teaching the subject of elementary science astronomy. There are many topics for elementary science astronomy, but two questionnaires were prepared focusing on the unit on the earth and the moon. 'What does the earth look like?' in Unit 4 (1/10) of the 3rd year, 1st semester In Unit 2 (1/11) of the 1st semester of the 6th grade, it was set as 'What does the moon look like?'. Candidly describe how to teach the subject of astronomy to elementary school students by mobilizing all the background knowledge of preparatory elementary teachers. The results of these surveys were visualized and displayed using Netminer as a language analysis method, and the contents of the responses to the actual surveys by pre-service elementary school teachers were described and interpreted. Based on these results, preparatory elementary teachers tried to suggest a more efficient teaching method for the subject of elementary science astronomy. In addition, basic procedures and methods for lecturing on the subject of elementary science astronomy were presented. A more efficient teaching method for teaching elementary science astronomy subjects to pre-service elementary teachers was suggested.

This study has developed the earth science class model based on flipped learning and analyzed the effects of that model at the elementary pre-teachers' science classes. The model of this study, the material which was consists of all contents and information about classes was offered to learners before science class as a substitute for preceding homework at general flipped learning. In science class, the knowledges which were recorded in materials were explained directly to learners by instructor for 20minutes. So the learners resolved some inquiry questions in materials through mutual debate collaboration with learners in small group. After inquiry questions' resolving, the learner among small group makes a presentation in front of the whole class. At the same time, the instructor evaluated learning action of all small groups' learners during the classes as process evaluation. The final evaluation results of semester were obtained scores of the small group in 14 classes and the achievements of individual portfolio as final exam. The learners were very positive perception to this science class model, why it is helped to concentrate on the class, extended debating and thinking ability. Consequently, the class model of this study is useful to applicate the earth science classes.
The purpose of this study is to investigate middle school students' understanding and development of function graphs. We collected the data from the teaching experiment with two middle school students who had not yet received instruction on linear function in school. The students participated in a 15-day teaching experiment(Steffe, & Thompson, 2000). Each teaching episode lasted one or two hours. The students initially focused on numerical values rather than the overall relationship between the variables in functional situations. This study described meaning, role of and students' responses for the given tasks, which revealed the students' understanding and development of function graphs. Especially we analyzed students' responses based on their methods to solve the tasks, reasoning that derived from those methods, and their solutions. The results indicate that their continuous reasoning played a significant role in their understanding of function graphs.

The Korean ministry of education has adopted an educational policy about digital textbooks at K-12 schools since 2018, in order to provide students with individualized learning contents and activities. However, digital textbooks has been yet prepared and delivered for the students with disabilities in the inclusive education. This study aims to develop the guidelines on digital textbooks for students with disabilities applying universal design for learning, recognizing the requirements for the digital textbooks which can be utilized in the K-12 inclusive classrooms for diverse students. In this respect, guidelines on digital textbooks were developed based on previous studies and cases. The first draft of guidelines were reviewed with two rounds of the delphi methods with special teachers. In addition, scenarios were developed, representing the rich educational contexts with digital textbooks applying the guidelines in a practical way for students with 4 types of disabilities. This study can contribute to establishing educational policies and environments related to the digital textbook development and dissemination for students with disabilities.
The purpose of this study was development of school health education curriculum in primary school based on analysis of the textbooks published in 1991. 1) The health education curriculum in primary school consisted of four major components such as health education aspects of the healthful school environments, health education aspects of school health services, health education course, and health instruction in related subjects. However, health instruction taught by physical education, biology, and other health related subjects was not systematic organization for health care. 2) A considerable amount of health knowledge and attitude, and some health practices was learned as the result of experiences in other courses, where there was little or no reference to health. It must be developed health edcation course separated from health related subjects. 3) Direct health insruction was represented by the health education course. The health education courses must be considered to be heart of the school health education curriculum. 4) The health education course developed by this study was consisted of eight health units and problems in the early elementary grade or health classes in the higher years. 5) The health education course developed by this study provided the opportunity for acquring new knowledge, attitude, and practice, for discarding the unhealtful attitude and strengthening the healthful attitude and practices of primary school students.

In this study, we investigated the influences of the method of using analogy on concept understanding, mapping understanding, and mapping error by analogical reasoning ability level. We also investigated students' perception of a role-playing analogy activity. Seventh graders (N=152) at a middle school were assigned to the comparison and the experimental groups. The students of the experimental group were taught about 'the relation between pressure and volume of gas' with experience-based role-playing analogy, while those of the comparison group were taught with explanation-centered analogy. Analyses of the results revealed that the instruction using roleplaying analogy was more effective in concept understanding and retention of mapping understanding than explanation-centered analogy instruction, regardless of analogical reasoning ability level. It was also found that the students of the experimental group had fewer mapping errors than those of the comparison group. However, there was little difference in t pes of mapping errors by the method of using analogy. The students of the experimental group answered that they did not have difficulties in performing the role-playing analogy activity and they actively engaged in the activity. They perceived that the role-playing analogy activity was interesting. Educational implication of these findings are discussed.

This study examined student- and school-level background and ICT factors that affected PISA 2015 Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) for Korean students (4863 students from 142 high schools). A two-level hierarchical linear model (HLM) was analyzed from the basic model (model 1) with no predictors to the final model (model 5) with all predictors. Results showed that first, gender, socioeconomic/cultural backgrounds, cooperation level positively predicted CPS scores while perceived unfairness of teacher negatively predicted the outcome. Second, the more frequently ICT was used for out-of-school learning purposes, the less frequently ICT was used for entertainment purposes, and the less frequently ICT was used in schools, the higher CPS scores were. Considering ICT autonomy and social interaction variables measured for the first time in PISA 2015, students who were more interested in ICT and more autonomous in using ICT devices achieved higher CPS scores. On the other hand, the more students considered ICT important as social interaction, the less they gained CPS scores. Third, in terms of school-level characteristics, the smaller the students behavior detrimental to learning, the higher the teachers perceived positive working environment, and the fewer the number of computers available per student, the higher CPS scores were. To facilitate computer-based collaborative problem-solving competence, it is important for students to have interest and autonomy in using ICT. In addition, the guidelines of ICT use and SW curriculum need to be established in order to increase the effectiveness of using ICT device in school.
The purpose of this study was to verify that students' interest in team activities for problem solving, the effect of interest on it, and students' changes in perceptions and their behavioral characteristics in the process of problem solving. The study reviewed documents prepared by students, such as work sheets, descriptive questionnaires, works and their photos, student activity photos and observation journals of teachers. The results of this research are as below. First, a problem solving team activity for making a model car was considered an interesting assignment by more than 90% of male/female students. The fact that female students could be more focused on this assignment than male students was discovered. Interest in the assignment not only had an influence on the points from the start (the blueprint) to the end (model cars completed based upon the designs) of problem solving, but also provided the traction power behind the assignment. Second, the problem solving team activity allowed the students to change their existing recognition (thoughts) while positively taking a lead or indirectly utilizing various learning experiences (including experiences of failure). Third, $2^{nd}$ graders in middle school had a tendency to solve problems in dependently rather than to receive help from others when they encountered problematic situations.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the students' perception of the learning support system of Korea Science Academy and to propose improvements to it. The impact of the science learning support system on 129 gifted students in Korea Science Academy (KSA) was estimated by using Likert-type items and the multiple-choice method approach for more comprehensive evaluation. The results of our investigation are as follows: First, the learning support system of KSA appears globally useful to the students. The list of educational usefulness to the students comprises, in the decreasing order of utility, classroom work, Internet, lab activities, reading rooms, library, research meetings and clubs, academic advisors (AA), SAF (Science Academy Fair), e-learning system, and finally colloquia by invited lecturers. Second, what the gifted students hope for in the realm of learning support from KSA are learning guides by subject teachers, presentation skill program, the constructions of on/off-line learning communities, etc. It seems that the results of this study would be helpful in improving the learning support system, and will provide useful information for planning the direction of future science-gifted education programs at the high-school level.

This article aims to (a) investigate children's images of a scientist's life style by comparing children's drawings about a scientist's schedule with those about a company employee's schedule in a weekday and on Sunday; and (b) examine the usefulness of 'Drawing A Scientist's Schedule (DASS)' test as a new instrument of learners' conceptions of a scientist and his/her work. To do those, thirty sixth- grade children participated in this study. The children, 15 boys and 15 girls, were selected from a classroom of an elementary school located in Gongju city. The children's drawings were analyzed in conjunction with individual interviews. The interviews facilitated the clarification of any ambiguous attributes of the drawings by questioning after their completion. Several significant conclusions can be drawn from this work: First, the children conceived that a scientist has more mandatory time, and less necessary and leisure time than does a company employee. Interestingly, many children thought that a scientist has similar life style on Sunday to that in a weekday, unlike a company employee. Second, in case of necessary time use in a weekday and on Sunday, the difference between a scientist and a company employee results from their sleeping time. Also, the children showed more various conceptions of a scientist's sleeping time than those of a company employee's sleeping time. Third, in case of mandatory time use, the children conceived that a scientist spends more time for his/her occupational work and less time for his/her housework activities than does a company employee. Fourth, the children's drawings showed that there is difference between a scientist's and a company employee's leisure time use and activities. Finally, the DASS test indicated its possibility and usefulness as an instrument for investigating learners' images on a scientist and his/her work. The instrument exhibited several distinctive children's conceptions that is difficult in identifying by using the DAST, a popular instrument.
