This study examined the level of experienced problem and related variables of farming women as a part of study on problem diagnosis and status enhancement of rural women. The subjects were 980 married farming women living in rural area. Data were analyzed by frequencies, percentages, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan-test, and multiple regression. The major findings were as follows : 1) Rural women experienced five categorized problems(farming work & health problem, institution & facilities problem, personality differences & communication problem with husband, child & in-law relatives problem, and husbands violence & sexual problem. 2) The significant variables that influenced on experienced problems were conflict coping behaviors, husbands housework participation, farming work time, age, the level of health, and income etc. Additionally socio-demographic factors, their vocational consciousness, housework sharing, and couples difference of sex-role attitude as related variables of the level of experienced problem of farming women were exmained and discussed the implication.

This study purposed to determine the relative impact of a number of family and household work variables on childrens household work performance and their mothers satisfactions on that. A questionnaire was administered to 239 mothers and their children respectively living in Daejeon. Data were analysed using multiple regression analysis. Results were as follows: (1) A childs household work was influenced by mothers employment status and health status, a childs sex, her expectation on the childs household work performance, and the grade. (2) Mothers satisfaction on the childs household work was most influenced by the length of household work time and their spontaneity.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of using the relapse prevention program for adult substance addicts. Based on the results from the study of educational needs for the relapse prevention program among substance addicts the 10-session-relapse prevention program was developed. Then the researcher conducted the relapse prevention program for 15 adult methamphetamine addicts from Aug. 3 1999 to Sep. 4 1999 at the probation office in Suwon, South Korea. For examining the effectiveness of using that relapse prevention program the Social Adjustment Scale-Self Report(SAS-SR), McMullin Addiction Thought Scale(MAT), and Self Esteem Rating Scale(SERS) were used whether or not their social adjustment level, self-esteem level, and addiction thought level were improved. This study employed one group pre-post test research design as a quantitative purpose and in-depth interview as a qualitative purpose. For a qualitative purpose in-depth interview was conducted in not only between sessions but also after sessions dealing with their current life problems. For a quantitative purpose the analysis strategy employed here was frequency and t-test. Results shows that addicts who took the relapse prevention program consistently reported the improvement of their social adjustment level, self-esteem level, and addiction thought level although there were no statistically significant between pre and post tests. The implication of study findings will be discussed.

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship of marital violence and marital unstability. A total of 192 marital couples in Pusan completed a structure questionnaire. The major finding were as follows : 1. Husbands and wives reciprocally inflicted psychological aggression and physical violence. 2. Violent couples who were high level of marital unstability had worse family system function than violent couples who were low level of marital unstability. Violent husbands who were high level of marital unstability were disengaged and chaos family system. 3. Husbands inflicted violence toward their wives when husbands had the contempt of communication style, and their family function were disengaged level. Wives inflicted violence toward their husbands when wives had the contempt of communication style. Couples who had high level of marital unstability were more likely to violent and were disengaged level on Circumplex Model.

The purpose of this study was to investigate those factors which are related to parent-adult child coresidence of Korean elderly. The data of 2,464 elderly over 65 from $\boxDr$National survey of elderlys life and welfare desires in 1998$\boxUl$collected by Korean Institute for Health and Social Affairs were used for this study. The major results of the study were summarized as follows: First, the elderly who live with their children were different from those who live independently from their children in socio-demographic characteristics, residential area, economic or physical abilities, and the value of elder care. Second, residential area, economic abilities, and the value of elder care were found to have an influence on the parent-adult child coresidence among Korean elderly. Third, the determinants of the parent-adult child coresidence for the elderly were different according to their value of elder care.

This paper examines consumer problems and issues of credit card use. The cases of credit card problems were from a civil consumer organization called Green Consumers Network in Korea. This paper focused on over five concerns, including credit card issuing, lost or stolen card settlements, vendor fee charging to customer, withholding payment in case of unsatisfactory purchases, and abusive debt collecting practices. Some solutions for the consumer problems were suggested.

Recently a number of large discount store and those of its users was increasing. The purpose of this study is to investigate the tendency of impulse buying and analyzes factors which influence impulse buying. The data had been collected from questionaries with 474 consumers who visit large discount store. The major statistical methods used for data analysis are frequency, percentile, mean, t-test, multiple regression analysis, one-way ANOVA, and Duncans multiple range test utilizing SPSS Win pc+program. The results of this study are as follows : 1. The four different kind of impulse buying is measured. The overall level of impulse buying is 2.76. Suggestion impulse buying(M=3.19) is the highest, and the lowest is pure impulse buying(M=2.66). 2. In the area of demographic variables is significantly different in the age of twenties and thirties(p<.05). A visit frequency and membership. In the area of in-store variables is significantly different by all factors at impulse buying except waiting time. Especially, point-of-purchase(POP) advertisement and discount sale are very important variables. A visit frequency and membership are significantly different in the area of consumer-related variables. 3. Waiting time, a visit frequency, a POP advertisement, and a discount sale have the positive effects on overall impulse buying. Pure impulse buying is influenced by shopping list, POP advertisement and a stores atmospher. Buying companion, membership, kind of store and waiting time have the effect on reminder impulse buying. Suggestion impulse buying is influenced by school career, shopping list and POP advertisement. Planned impulse buying is influenced by sex, POP advertisement, buying companion and discount sale.

This study was performed to develope a money management education program for elementary school students graded from 3 to 6 in order to enhance their money management skill. Based on the developmental stages of the children, this program covered five financial issues such as value of money, financial planning, allowance planning, saving and investment, and consuming and purchasing. Total 15 specific education programs were developed. The contents included in each program were value of money & economic circulation, types of money and the importance of money management, the issues related on choice and resource use, long-term and short-term planning, the relationship between occupation and earnings, career planning, budgeting, the reasons and types of saving, understanding of interest, investment methods, the functions of market and trade, intra family income distribution, consumptions, and consumer decision making process.

This research is to understand the actual conditions of the degrees of housework share, the usage of kitchen equipments, the adjustments of residence, and community service to understand difficulties on housework that disabled homemakers can have, and to present possible copping strategies for homelife improvement of disabled homemakers. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows : 1) Main difficulties are that the disabled homemakers feel when performing housework are the preparation of meals, doing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning up etc, which are the essential parts of ones homelife. 2) The result shows that having a rice cooker, a refrigerator, and a stove is a necessity for the disabled homemakers and that the degree of usage is pretty high. 3) Most of the disabled homemakers lack basic adjustments for the disabled in their residence such as the adjustments of the height of shelves. 4) Considering that they do not recognize community service for them, and most of them are not covered by any service, we can conclude that community service for disabled homemakers is not run enough.

The purpose of this study was to examine the influences of the material values, attitudes toward money, and the background variables to the money use behavior of female collegians. The samples were selected from 541 female collegians. Cronbach$\alpha$, One-way ANOVA, Duncan test, Multiple regression, Path analysis were used as statistical analysis. The results were summarized as follows : Resulting from multiple regression analysis, the money use behavior of female collegians had the positive linear relationships with the variables such as mothers level of education, material values, and 3 money attitude - the means of security, the symbol of anxiety, the means of pleasure - in five money attitude dimensions. The most influential variable was money attitude of the means of security.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between adolescents peer victimization and friendship quality. The 679 subjects were selected from the fifth and sixth graders of elementary schools and the first and second graders of middle schools. The instruments of measurement were peer victimization scale, friendship quality scale, friendship nominations measure. The main findings of this study were as follows : 1) The type of peer victimization has significant difference according to gender and grade. There was no significant grade difference in prosocial behavior. 2) The type of friendship quality has significant difference according to gender and grade. There were no significant grade difference in positive friendship and negative friendship. 3) There was significant correlation between adolescents peer victimization and friendship quality.

The purpose of the study was to provide the informations about the economic status of elderly households. Utilizing the 1996 national household data, economic status was investigated by the components of two financial statements: the income and expense statement and the balance sheet statement. Thus it included incomes, consumption, propensity to consume, savings(financial assets), debt amount and net-savings. The elderly households were compared with the nonelderly households. The subgroups of the elderly were also compared. They were divided based on the employment status of the head and household composition. The results showed that the economic status of the elderly was worse compared to the nonelderly. There were also variations among the subgroups of the elderly households. In general, the economic status of retired households and single households were worse than those of employed households and of the households composed of couple and the elderly living with children.

The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship among the identity, lifestyle and satisfaction with family resources of rural married persons. The subjects of this study were 435 married women and men in Ansung. The major findings were as follows: 1. The identity of rural married persons was significantly different depending on their gender and educational level. 2. Their lifestyle was significantly different depending on their gender, educational level, job, the type of dwelling, and family income. 3. Their satisfaction with family resources was significantly different depending on their educational level, job, the type of dwelling, and family income. 4. There was positive correlation among their identity, lifestyle and satisfaction with family resources of the rural married persons.

This study analyzes consumer education for consumption values in the elementary school textbooks to provide information useful in revising the curriculum in the future. The textbooks for the 4th, the 5th, and 6th curricula, which are 334 volumes in total, are analyzed by the context-analysis method. Context unit is used as the analysis unit and the number of pages is used as the system of enumeration. According to the analysis, the areas taught most frequently in current curriculum are \"frugality and reuse\" and \"the planned consumption\", while the areas taught least are \"impulsive and conformity consumption\" and \"the concept of consumer and the consumers role\". It was also found that current programs are not well organized in terms of continuity, sequence, and integration.

The purpose of this study was to develop the family life planning program for sound family. The program consisted of 3 sessions : to perceive the importance of life planning, to approach the way how to life planning, to practice life planning of ones own. After a primary education, the program has adjusted 2 sessions : to perceive the importance life planning and how to do, to practice life planning of ones own. In conclusion, it is possible to adjust this program depends on circumstances. This program will be used one of the extension services for the family. And the government should be support these programs politically, especially the low-income bracket.

The purposes of this study was to develop household debt management education and counseling programs. The issues related with the consumer use of credit were identified and the selected programs of the United States were analyzed to develop the education and counseling programs for Korean households. Curriculums for the debt management education in three subjects and the process for debt counseling were suggested. Debt management education program included the issues related to general credit management strategy, credit card usage, and debt burden. For debt counseling, worksheets of problem identification, budget analysis, and action planning were developed.

This study is designed to extent the investigation of the Kyongbuk Womens policy the area of family life and womens economic activity. Results indicated that the primary barriers of getting a job for married women was child rearing and the diffency of working information. On the family life, communication patterns were contributed to the problem of the relationship between child and parent, and spouse relationship. And also, school violence was founded the hot problem. The results underscore the importance of child rearing support system, and affirmative action in womens employment enviroment, Family Life Educator and Family Counselor.

The aims of this study is to investigate the trend of the attitude and behavior toward the inheritance of asset and ancestral rites among urban families. The aged were selected out of the continuing education center in Seoul for questionnaires to figure out the subjects above. The main results of this study are as follows: 1. For the attitude toward the inheritance of ancestral rites, it was positive for the eldest son or the one who inherited much asset or the religious organization to perform the ancestral rites. But it was negative for the married daughter or the adopted son to hold the ancestral rites. 2. For the inheritance behaviour of the ancestral rites, it is not common for the eldest son to inherit ancestral rites but common to perform it. 3. In the group who are positive to donate their property to society, it is common not to prefer the eldest son in inheriting property. In the group who are positive about preferring the eldest son in inheriting property, they preferred the eldest son in succession to an asset. 4. Most of sons, especially the eldest son, were preferred in inheriting asset and ancestral rites. And they were much more preferred in inheriting ancestral rites than asset.
