The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of self-differentiation with conflict tactics behavior and marital adjustment among married men and women. Specifically, this study tried to examine the differences in the levels of conflict tactics behavior and of marital adjustment according to the levels of self-differentiation. The participants of the present study were 332 married men and 355 women who lived in Chonlabuk-Do province. The major results of this research were as follows. First, there was no significant difference in the level of total self-differentiation between men and women. There were significant differences in the degrees of sexually coercive conflict tactics behavior and marital adjustment between sexes. Second, results of difference analyses showed that there were significant differences in the levels of conflict tactics behaviors and of marital adjustment according to levels of self-differentiation. Finally, in the case of married men and women, the variable significantly affecting the conflict tactics behavior and the marital adjustment was the levels of self-differentiation. Based on the results as above, this research discussed the issue of the concept of self differentiation applied to Korean situation, and suggested some implications for family life education for decreasing conflict between spouses and for enhancing marital relationship.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of home informatization on the family resource management. For this purpose we analyze the level of home informatization focused on the Internet use and it's effects on the family resource management through time management and financial management. Data were collected from 582 housewives who use the Internet at home. The results show that home informatization through the Internet use has changed family resource management totally. It contributes to improve planning and efficiency of resource management, but simultaneously it causes the imbalance of resource management. And the Internet use of housewives also affects time allocation and household expenditure. These changes depend on socio-demographics variables, home informatization related variables, and personal resource variables. The results show that the ability to manage time and finance have much more importance to improve the level of planning and efficiency and to decrease the level of imbalance in managerial subsystem. The results of this research suggest several implications for public policy.

The purpose of this study is to define the concept of community based on the residential area and to review the issues on the research of community in related discipline area. The discourse about community has been developed in the field of social psychology, regional planning and architecture, housing studies, and research results by NGO. These studies of community has been dealt with social interaction and norm as well as the physical aspects of community. The research on community has been studied with the approach of structure and functionalist, systems theory approach, conflict theory approach, ecological approach, microsociological approach, and social construction approach. However, these approaches have not integrated together, but recognized community in a social or personal context. The social construction approach among these approaches suggest a useful conceptual framework for studying community in the point of view that social condition changes according to the autonomic individual. Understanding of community will influence to establishing a community norm, to planning a communal space, and to developing strategies of community. And it also takes a Important role t\ulcorner change the housing policy, institution and life style.

The main purposes of this article are to introduce the theoretical backgrounds and empirical application methods of two different Models for the function of expenditure, and to compare the goodness-o(-fit of the two models: a single-equation model and a complete-system-of-demand-equation model. For the empirical analysis of the single-equation model, a linear formula and a double-leg formula were employed. In order to test the complete-system-of-demand-equation model empirically, the \"Linear Approximation/Almost Ideal Demand System (LA/AIDS)" was used. The independent variables were the total living expense and expenditure categories Price index. The data used in this study were obtained from the quarterly statistics of "The Annual Report on the Urban Family Income and Expenditure Survey (Dosigagyeyonbo)" and "The Annual Report on the Consumer Price Index (Sobijamulgajaryo)," for the years 1994 to 1997. The goodness-of-fit (R-square) was higher with the complete-system-of-demand-equation model than with the single-equation model for the budget share on food (excluding eating-out expenses) and for the share on cultural and recreational activities. However, there was no difference between the two models in terms of the proportion of the expenditure on automobile fuel.fuel.

The purpose of this study is to estimate the residential satisfaction, and to present the direction of the policy to elevate it. A housewife living in the rental apartment in Gwangju completed a structured questionnaire under the guidance of her interviewer. The Questionnaires used in this study were 305. The major findings were as follows : 1 . Degree of the residential satis(action of housewives living in the rental apartment in Gwangju was not high. 2. The significant variables that influenced on the overall residential satisfaction were existence of the delegation of borrowers, cognition of the law for the rental house. In future research, the index to represent the real participation of borrowers have t\ulcorner be made and the variables related the residential satisfaction have to be sought respectively.

The purpose of this study was to describe 1) the prevalence of caregiving among adult men and women in Korea and 2) the characteristics of caregiving context. The main results were as follows: 1) About 1 in 6 adults reported that they provided care for the relatives and friends during the previous year. 2) The proportion of male to female caregivers was similar, indicating a higher prevalence of male involvement than previous studies indicated. Yet, the relationships to care recipients and types of care were found to be different by gender of caregiver 3) Adult caregivers are most likely to provide care for the elderly, but continue to provide care for younger persons as well. 4) A nontrivial proportion of the respondents reported providing care for more than one person, suggesting the need to pay special attention to these multiple caregivers.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the change of agricultural labor participation and decision-making involvement of rural women in Korea from 1960s to 1990s. For analysis of these changes, I used the data surveyed and collected by different researchers during those times. During last 40 years, rural society and the mode of agricultural production rapidly changed according to the development of Korean industry. Agricultural labor participation of rural women increased since the mid 1970s. Their agricultural labor expanded into full ranges of farming. Their decision-making involvement also expanded into all divisions of farming. However, they did not have decision making power as much as they contributed to farm labor The expansion of rural women's labor within the sphere of farm production has not substantially altered the decision-making power structure within the farm household.

This paper serves to analyze the points of views un women in enlightenment discourse of the equality of sexes during the enlightenment period of Korea (1860 1910). The discourses of newspapers that are the text of this study have been analyzed with qualitative research technique. The major conclusions that are derived from the study are as follows. First, enlightenment discourse of the equality of sexes criticized women’s inferior status in family and in society. Second, the discourse, however, claimed the women's rights with the view of national interests, which meant that the ultimate goal of the discourse was not the enhancement of women's rights. Women during the enlightenment period were recognized as a member of a nation while they should also role as a member of If. The discourse also claimed that the equality of sexes could be realized through education and emphasized especially women's role as a mother who should raise a member of a nation. Third, enlightenment discourse would not understand the women's every day lives that resulted in demanding women more roles in the name of civilization.

Housing is a central place fur elderly and it can be influenced to the quality of life for them. Most low income elderly has much problems on their housing. It needs to be developed for more various ones which considered in the way of their economic and physical conditions. This case study was aimed to supply (or a basic data for developing a housing for tow income elderly through the analysis of elderly housing of Melbourne in Australia. This study evaluated two types of government housing and five types of community housing available to elderly People on low income allowing them to live independently. Results of the research were as follows. 1) High rise apartment living was differentiated from other housing types. Such accommodation had drawbacks, for example it made the elderly difficult to get along with neighbours. 2) Community housing had more various types of housing than government housing and was aimed at encouraging community interaction between residents. Some community housing residents joined the management of the housing committee. As a result, it made the elderly very confident and promoted a good relationship between them and young generations. 3) The strength of community housing was that the elderly could choose the place to live within the community which was familiar to them. 4) The managers in broth government housing and community housing had many roles as adviser and mediator for residents as well as managing the complex. 5) A policy of housing for low income elderly is changing now from management by government appointees to one governed by the community 6) Most elderly prefer to live close to facilities such as medical and shopping centers and convenient transportation and wished to remain in their familiar community as long as possible.

The purpose of this study is to examine the social competence of children with reference to day care center's structural, process variables and demographic variables. The subjects were 156 children who attend day care center, aged from 3 to 5 years and 9 teachers in Seoul or the province of KyungkiDo. Data were gathered via the structured Questionnaires distributed to the teachers to rate children's social competence and their own job satisfaction. And two observers rated teacher-child interaction in day care center The major findings are as follows The variables predicting children's social competence were child's sex, age, period of attendance in day care center, teacher's job satisfaction, and group size. Especially this study suggests that teachers who are highly satisfied with their job and small group size influence children's social competence positively.

In this paper, we discuss issues related with conceptual definition and measurement of financial management behavior. Specifically, we examine the relationships among the management behavior relating to throughput, inputs, and outputs, based on the financial management systems model. Fer the analysis, we have reviewed articles that dealt with financial management behavior utilizing financial management systems model. The articles we reviewed appeared between the year 1986 to 2000, in four journals published in Korea (Journal of Korean Home Economics Association, Journal of Korean Home Management Association, Journal of Consumer Studies, and Journal of Korean Family Resource Management) as well as five home economics journals published in the U.S. The implications for the future research of financial management are also Presented.

The aim of this study is to examine the consumer information behavior and consumer satisfaction in virtual community, and analyse influential variables on these. The data for this study were collected from members of virtual community for cosmetics in DAUM ( www.daum.net) through self-report questionnaires. Main findings are following; Virtual community consumer experiences satisfaction for products including information, and information behavior. And the greater information behaviors are associated with the greater satisfaction. And the virtual community consumers' information behavior and satisfaction don't differ largely by internet variables and socio-demographic variables. On the other hand, virtual community consumers' information behavior and satisfaction are associated with psychological variables like community membership, information wants, enduring involvements. In conclusion, these satisfactions make the effect of ‘feedback’ to information behavior, so these virtual community is able to be activated. And this also means that virtual community is Ideal space for consumer to expand information behavior.
