The Subject Completion System Based on High School Credit System in State of California (캘리포니아 주 고등학교의 학점제 기반 교과목 이수 체제 고찰)

  • This study aims to consider the subject completion system based on high school credit system in State of California. To achieve research aims, this study analyzed a characteristics of curriculum of credit system in US, subject completion system based on high school credit system in State of California. Based on analysis results, this study search implications for implementing high school credit system in korea. For stable implement of High School Credit System, This study proposed that 'review of relevance of graduation requirement credit', 'effort in Metropolitan and Provincial office of education and School for establishing meaningful subject', 'taking follow-up action in accordance with setting of subject completion standard', 'qualitative improvement of student's subject selection', 'revitalization of career coaching for meaningful subject selection', 'setting of level on connectivity between high school curriculum and university entrance examination', 'a study on the in-depth follow-up about high school curriculum based credit system in foreign country'.

  • This study examines many preceding studies on school space, including the high school credit system, and attempts to present the importance after deriving the most appropriate factors when constructing an educational environment of the high school credit system. Based on the derived importance level, the purpose of this study was to provide information that is helpful for the implementation of the educational environment of the high school credit system in each school and to establish and present a model from an academic perspective by deriving the importance of the educational environment according to the high school credit system. As a research method, the importance of the educational environment was analyzed through the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The result of the analysis indicated that it is necessary to consider the interrelationship between the educational curriculum and the educational environment, which selectively and intensively performs functions and maximizes the effect according to the strategic importance of the educational environment.

  • This study is aimed to analyze vocational high school teachers' different perceptions on implementing High School Credit System in relation to their teaching subjects(the vocational high schooland the specialized subjects). The result indicates that the specialized subject teachers perceive the value of the prerequisites for implementation of High School Credit System more strongly than the common subject teachers. Otherwise, the result reveals that no significant difference exists between the common subject teachers' perceptions and the specialized subject teachers' perceptions of the external environment improvement, the operational modes, the characteristics of vocational high schools and the factors related to successful implementation of High School Credit System.

An Exploratory Study on the Preparation for the High School Credit System of the Home Economics Education Community through the Analysis of Operation Case of High School Credit System Research School (고교학점제 연구학교 운영 사례 분석을 통한 가정과 교육공동체의 고교학점제 준비 방안에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore ways to prepare for the high school credit system in the home economics educational community through the case of high school credit system research school operation. To this end, the operation process of H high school in Gangwon-do, which operated a high school credit system in 2019, was monitored for 5 months, and surveys and interviews were conducted with students, parents, and teachers to determine the operation of the curriculum. Suggestions based on the case of H high school's operation of the high school credit system for home economics educational community are as follows. Home economics teachers should make active efforts to provide attractive and meaningful home economics lessons to their students by improving instruction and assessment, and implementing a variety of elective courses within the subject of home economics, including collaborative online curricula. Home economics teacher communities and related associations should build a solid network that connects local home economics subject research groups, share information related to curriculum operation, and use it as a channel for disseminating class research results. Home economics teacher training institutions should innovate the curriculum to help prospective teachers develop the ability to guide multiple classes in line with the changing teacher training policy, and develop and provide high-quality online and offline programs for field teacher re-education.

  • The high school credit system is a system in which students select complete various subjects, depending on their career, and graduate when their accumulated credit reaches the standard. It is expected that the high school credit system, which guarantees the individual's right of choice, will bring an educational effect that can respond to the student's career aptitude. However, it is expected that problems in the aspect of school life, such as the weakening of class belongingness or difficulty of securing a stable base venue within the school building would be accompanied. This research analyzed students' usage condition depending on the living base space environment feature in schools that are implementing moving-selective class in the aspect of activity domain formation and contemplated the venue evaluation. The purpose is to provide the basic data of an architectural plan of a stable living base space within the school building through this. 'Living base center type' and 'living base dispersion type' school buildings among Japanese integral department high schools were used as the target to analyze the usage condition in the aspect of domain formation. As a result, a conclusion was deducted that student's securement of territory consciousness about the base space and venue construction for the community of various studying groups affects life satisfaction.

Development of a Data Science Education Program for High School Students Taking the High School Credit System (고교학점제 수강 고등학생을 위한 데이터과학교육 프로그램 개발)

  • In this study, an educational program was developed that allows students who take data science courses in the high school credit system to explore related fields after learning data science education. Accordingly, the existing research and requirements for data science education were analyzed, a learning plan was designed, and an educational program was developed in accordance with a step-by-step educational program. In addition, since there is no research on data science education for the high school credit system in existing studies, the research was conducted in the stages of problem definition, data collection, data preprocessing, data analysis, data visualization, and simulation, and referred to studies on data science education that have been conducted in existing schools. Through this study, it is expected that research on data science education in the high school credit system will become more active.

Analysis of Major Changes in Press Articles Related to 'High School Credit System'

  • The purpose of this study is to objectively analyze the trend of media articles related to the 'high school credit system' (2017~2019: 3 years), which has become the biggest concern among Korean education policies, through BIGKinds, a news data big data analysis service for media companies. The main research methodologies were BIGKinds system's specific search term news search, news trend analysis, keyword extraction and wordcloud implementation, network analysis and network picture presentation. The research results are as follows; First, the number of articles related to the high school credit system that appeared in major media outlets in Korea for 3 years from 2017 to 2019 was 3,649. The number of articles was sharply increased at a certain point about 4 times, based on the government's announcement of related policies. It showed an increasing news trend. Second, the top 20 keywords that emerged from the press articles related to the high school credit system for 3 years of analysis were presented, and it was confirmed that the keyword change by year appeared. Third, the network of media articles related to the high school credit system was visualized and presented in different ways by person, institution, and keyword. The results of this study confirmed that the high school credit system education policy was adopted as the representative education policy of the Moon Jae-in government, and is proceeding in the policy decision stage and policy implementation stage.

  • The purpose of this study was to help solve the problems of the high school credit system by exploring its operation plans for both career guidance and the effective and efficient operation of the high school credit system. The study's research method was literature research; it examined prior research, public hearings, press releases, the 2015 revised curriculum, and plans to promote the high school credit system by the Ministry of Education. To solve the problems facing the high school credit system, the curriculum should be organized as follows. First, it should be organized around general subjects. Second, students need to be able to study subjects related to their desired fields in depth. Third, it is necessary to confirm the basis for organizing the curriculum. Meanwhile, the following steps should be taken to improve the operation of the high school credit system for career guidance. First, a career curriculum committee for career learning and coaching should be formed and operationalized. Second, the teachers' work system should be restructured. Third, career aspirations should be identified, and directions for further study should be researched. Fourth, career and academic design guidance coaching books should be provided. Fifth, it is the role of the career and academic design guidance teacher. Sixth, emphasis should be placed on responsibility for subject selection and preparation for re-taking program.

A Study on Teacher Librarian's Perception and Needs on Implement of High School Credit System (고교학점제 시행에 대한 사서교사의 인식과 요구에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions, demands, operation problems of teacher librarians for the implementation of the high school credit system. 153 teacher librarians working in high schools participated in the online survey, and statistical analysis was conducted Teacher librarians had a high understanding of the high school credit system, and the demand for elective courses management was high. In particular, teacher librarians working at research schools had a higher understanding of the high school credit system and the operating foundation than those in general schools. Lack of awareness of the educational role of students and teachers toward teacher librarians was recognized as the biggest problem in the elective course management and there was no difference according to the background variables of the teacher librarian as gender, region, experience. On the basis of this result, it is suggested and discussed that developing high school credit system training program for teacher librarians, opening of elective courses related to reading, media, and information literacy skills and developing textbook, and instituting mandatory completion courses related to reading, media, and information literacy skills in pre-teacher training course.

  • High school credit system refers to a system in which a student selects the desired content according to his/her subject and completes accumulated credits to reach graduation when a certain standard is reached. The purpose of this study is to identify the advantages and disadvantages to the technology and home economics education after the introduction of the high school credit system by analyzing the status of high school elective subjects in technology and home economics areas, and the perceptions and needs of teachers and experts as the introduction of the high school credit system approaches. A survey was conducted to all professors in the Department of Home Economics Education or Technology Education, along with a national sample of the secondary school teachers of Home Economics and Technology, and responses of 282 teachers and 36 experts were analyzed. Results are as follows: First, in general high schools, the formation and operation of elective courses in technical and home economics were very insufficient. Second, there was a large number of requests for the expansion of elective courses in technology and home economics among the high school teachers. Third, in order to take advantage of the high school credit system, it was recognized that elective courses in technology and home economics should be established not only in consideration of secondary school education, but in relation to their connections with majors in universities. Improving the structure of electives in this direction is expected to play a positive role in allowing elective courses in technology and home economics to contribute to ensuring students' free choice.
