The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of teachers' self-efficacy and teacher-child relationship on young children's adaptation to childcare centers, and to examine the interaction effects of teachers' self-efficacy and teacher-child relationship on young children's adjustment to childcare centers. The subjects of this study were 360, three- to four-year-old who attended childcare centers located in Chungbuk province and their 72 teachers. The results of this research indicated that the main effect of teachers' self-efficacy and the main effects of familiarity and conflicts between teachers and children on young children's adjustment to childcare centers were significant. A total of 405 children (189 popular children, 216 unpopular children; aged 5 years old) and their parents were studied. The children's peer acceptance was measured by peer nomination and the mother's parenting efficacy and father's child rearing involvement were assessed by a parent reported questionnaire. In the results, popular children recorded higher scores than unpopular children in sociability, activity, maternal parenting efficacy, and paternal child rearing involvement.
This study investigated the relations between mother's parenting self-efficacy, perceived social support, parenting behavior, and acculturative stress, and young children's problem behavior, focusing on the mediational role of mother's parenting self-efficacy and parenting behavior. Mothers were female international marriage immigrant from China, Philippines, and Vietnam. The participants were 374mothers of young children and teachers of the children in Busan and Gyungnam, Korea. Questionnaires were based on Choe and Chung (2001), Shin(1996), Lee (1996), Hong (1995), and Han(1996). Structural equation modeling indicated that mother's parenting self-efficacy and parenting behavior were significant mediators of the relation between mother's perceived social support and child's problem behavior. The results will be useful for parent training programs for female international marriage immigrant.
The study examined and compared relationships among self-esteem, self-efficacy, and academic achievement of children in poverty and the comparative groups. The subjects of this study were 97 elementary school students who had benefited from the free meal project and 97 students as the comparative group who did not receive the benefit. Descriptive statistics, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ tests, and multiple regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. The results showed that academic scores of the comparative group were statistically higher than those of children in the poverty group in Korean language, mathematics, science, and sociology. Also, self-esteem of children in the poverty group was lower than that of the comparative group's in terms of leadership and popularity. The poverty group also showed lower self-efficacy in self-regulated efficacy tasks. Finally, multiple regression analysis demonstrated that different sub-factors of self-esteem and self-efficacy predicted the academic achievement of children in poverty group and the comparative groups.
This study examined the effects of teacher's self-efficacy on children's sociality through the mediating effects of job-satisfaction and the quality of teacher-child interaction. The participants in this study consisted of 27 teachers working at child care centers and 71 children(4-5 years old) in their charge in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do province, Korea. Data were analyzed by means of a Hayes's PROCESS(2012) program to identify the serial multiple mediating effects and the relationships which exist among the various factors. The present study found that teacher's self-efficacy had significant indirect effects on children's sociality through job-satisfaction and the quality of teacher-child interaction. These results suggest that a higher level of teacher's self-efficacy leads to greater job-satisfaction and better quality of teacher-child interaction and this in turn has an influence on children's sociality.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of communication competence and self-efficacy of nurses at children's hospitals on the nurse-parent partnership. Methods: Data were collected by surveying (from July 4th to August 4th, 2019) 162 nurses who had 6 or more months of experience across 15 children's hospitals in G City and B Metropolitan City. Using SPSS 23.0 for Windows for data analysis, t-tests, analysis of variance, Bonferroni tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: The nurse-parent partnership showed significantly positive correlations with nurses' communication competence and with self-efficacy. There was a significantly positive correlation between nurses' communication competence and self-efficacy. The factors influencing the nurse-parent partnership were nurses' communication competence, job satisfaction, and self-efficacy; the total explanatory power of these variables was 47.0%. Conclusion: Since the communication competence of nurses at children's hospitals was identified as a major factor influencing the nurse-parent partnership, it may be meaningful to conduct basic research aimed at developing strategies to improve this partnership at children's hospitals.
Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify gender differences in predictors on dietary self-efficacy in fifth and sixth grade elementary school children. Methods: The data were collected by a questionnaire given to the 408 children between June 7 to June 17, 2011. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: There were gender differences in dietary self-efficacy, exercise self-efficacy, dietary practice and depression. Dietary self-efficacy had a significant positive correlation with exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice and negative correlation with depression for both girls and boys. The predictors of dietary self-efficacy for boy were exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice, these factors explained 37.1% of the total variance. In girls, exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice were significant predictors and explained 38.7% of dietary self-efficacy. Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, it is needed to develop a nursing intervention for dietary self-efficacy in elementary school children including to promote exercise self-efficacy and dietary practice.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relative effects of father's parenting behavior, parenting stress and knowledge on bringing up children on his parenting self-efficacy. Two hundred and seventy fathers with children under the age of seven participated in this study. Fathers showed a lower level of parenting stress and a higher level of knowledge on child rearing. A higher level of parenting self-efficacy was observed in fathers who have good jobs. The purpose of the study was to find the effect of play-using assertion training program on elementary school children's self-expression, interpersonal relationship and self-efficacy. For the purpose of the study, the researcher sets hypotheses as follows. Hypothesis I : The play-using assertion training program has significant effect in elementary school children's self-expression. Hypothesis II : The play-using assertion training program has significant effect on elementary school children's interpersonal relationship. Hypothesis III: The play-using assertion training program has significant effect on elementary school children's self-efficacy. To verify these hypotheses, the researcher selected 10 students of 4th grade in C elementary school as a experimental group, and 11 students of 4th grade in O elementary school as a controlled group. Both schools are located at Boryoung, Chungnam. In the experimental group, the researcher administered the play-using assertion training program once a week for ten weeks. The play-using assertion training program are made by the researcher based on Jeon(1985) and Byoun and Kim(1980). To measure self-expression, the scale of self-expression made by Byoun & Kim(1980) was used. To measure interpersonal relationship, the scale of relationship change made by Schlin and Guerney(1971) was used. The scale was translated by Lee and Moon(1980). To measure self-efficacy, the scale of self-efficacy made by Han(2002) was used. The scale is based on Kim and Cha(1996) and Kim(1997). The result of the study is that the play-using assertion training program gives positive effects on students' self-expression, especially in physical area. Second, the play-using assertion training program gives positive effects on students' interpersonal relationship, especially in satisfaction, communication and friendliness. Third, the play-using assertion training program generally does not give positive effects on students' self-efficacy, but give significant effects on confidence and self-control efficacy which are sub-areas of self-efficacy.
