  • Ricci curvature for locally finite graphs, as proposed by Lin, Lu and Yau, provides a useful isomorphism invariant. A Matching Condition was introduced as a key tool for computation of this Ricci curvature. The scope of the Matching Condition is quite broad, but it does not cover all cases. Thus the current paper introduces extended versions of the Matching Condition, and applies them to the computation of the Ricci curvature of a class of circulants determined by certain number-theoretic data. The classical Matching Condition is also applied to determine the Ricci curvature for other families of circulants, along with Cayley graphs of abelian groups that are generated by the complements of (unions of) subgroups.

  • In this paper, we introduce an operation denoted by [$Br_e$], a bracket operation, which maps an arbitrary groupoid ($X,{\ast}$) on a set X to another groupoid $(X,{\bullet})=[Br_e](X,{\ast})$ which on groups corresponds to sending a pair of elements (x, y) of X to its commutator $xyx^{-1}y^{-1}$. When applied to classes such as d-algebras, BCK-algebras, a variety of results is obtained indicating that this construction is more generally useful than merely for groups where it is of fundamental importance.

  • This article concerns the property that for any element a in a ring, if a2n = an for some n ≥ 2 then a2 = a. The class of rings with this property is large, but there also exist many kinds of rings without that, for example, rings of characteristic ≠2 and finite fields of characteristic ≥ 3. Rings with such a property is called reduced-over-idempotent. The study of reduced-over-idempotent rings is based on the fact that the characteristic is 2 and every nonzero non-identity element generates an infinite multiplicative semigroup without identity. It is proved that the reduced-over-idempotent property pass to polynomial rings, and we provide power series rings with a partial affirmative argument. It is also proved that every finitely generated subring of a locally finite reduced-over-idempotent ring is isomorphic to a finite direct product of copies of the prime field {0, 1}. A method to construct reduced-over-idempotent fields is also provided.

  • This work presents an exposition of both the internal structure of derived category of an abelian category D*(𝓐) and its contribution in solving problems, particularly in algebraic geometry. Calculation of some morphisms will be presented between objects in D*(𝓐) as elements in appropriate cohomology groups along with their compositions with the help of Yoneda construction under the assumption that the homological dimension of D*(𝓐) is greater than or equal to 2. These computational settings will then be considered under sheaf cohomological context with a particular case from projective geometry.

  • An idempotent e of a ring R is called right (resp., left) semicentral if er = ere (resp., re = ere) for any r ∈ R, and an idempotent e of R∖{0, 1} will be called right (resp., left) quasicentral provided that for any r ∈ R, there exists an idempotent f = f(e, r) ∈ R∖{0, 1} such that er = erf (resp., re = fre). We show the whole shapes of idempotents and right (left) semicentral idempotents of upper triangular matrix rings and polynomial rings. We next prove that every nontrivial idempotent of the n by n full matrix ring over a principal ideal domain is right and left quasicentral and, applying this result, we can find many right (left) quasicentral idempotents but not right (left) semicentral.

  • We study a class of left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian Sasaki metrics on solvable Lie groups, which can be characterized by the property that the zero level set of the moment map relative to the action of some one-parameter subgroup {exp tX} is a normal nilpotent subgroup commuting with {exp tX}, and X is not lightlike. We characterize this geometry in terms of the Sasaki reduction and its pseudo-Kähler quotient under the action generated by the Reeb vector field. We classify pseudo-Riemannian Sasaki solvmanifolds of this type in dimension 5 and those of dimension 7 whose Kähler reduction in the above sense is abelian.

  • When G is an abelian group, we use the notation M(G, n) to denote the Moore space. The space X is the wedge product space of Moore spaces, given by X = M(ℤq, n+ 2) ∨ M(ℤq, n+ 1) ∨ M(ℤq, n). We determine the self-homotopy classes group [X, X] and the self-homotopy equivalence group 𝓔(X). We investigate the subgroups of [Mj , Mk] consisting of homotopy classes of maps that induce the trivial homomorphism up to (n + 2)-homotopy groups for j ≠ k. Using these results, we calculate the subgroup 𝓔dim#(X) of 𝓔(X) in which all elements induce the identity homomorphism up to (n + 2)-homotopy groups of X.

  • An imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number field K is a field of the form ${\mathbb{Q}}({\sqrt{-m}},{\sqrt{-n}})$ where m and n are squarefree positive integers. The ideal class number hK of K is the order of the abelian group IK/PK, where IK and PK are the groups of fractional and principal fractional ideals in the ring of integers 𝒪K of K, respectively. This provides a measure on how far is 𝒪K from being a PID. We determine all imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number fields with class number 5. We show there are exactly 243 such fields.

  • The concepts of reversible, right duo, and Armendariz rings are known to play important roles in ring theory and they are independent of one another. In this note we focus on a concept that can unify them, calling it a right Armendarizlike ring in the process. We first find a simple way to construct a right Armendarizlike ring but not Armendariz (reversible, or right duo). We show the difference between right Armendarizlike rings and strongly right McCoy rings by examining the structure of right annihilators. For a regular ring R, it is proved that R is right Armendarizlike if and only if R is strongly right McCoy if and only if R is Abelian (entailing that right Armendarizlike, Armendariz, reversible, right duo, and IFP properties are equivalent for regular rings). It is shown that a ring R is right Armendarizlike, if and only if so is the polynomial ring over R, if and only if so is the classical right quotient ring (if any). In the process necessary (counter)examples are found or constructed.

  • We study a class of KMS-symmetric quantum Markovian semigroups on a quantum spin system ($\mathcal{A},{\tau},{\omega}$), where $\mathcal{A}$ is a quasi-local algebra, $\tau$ is a strongly continuous one parameter group of *-automorphisms of $\mathcal{A}$ and $\omega$ is a Gibbs state on $\mathcal{A}$. The semigroups can be considered as the extension of semi groups on the nontrivial abelian subalgebra. Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a Hilbert space corresponding to the GNS representation con structed from $\omega$. Using the general construction method of Dirichlet form developed in [8], we construct the symmetric Markovian semigroup $\{T_t\}{_t_\geq_0}$ on $\mathcal{H}$. The semigroup $\{T_t\}{_t_\geq_0}$ acts separately on two subspaces $\mathcal{H}_d$ and $\mathcal{H}_{od}$ of $\mathcal{H}$, where $\mathcal{H}_d$ is the diagonal subspace and $\mathcal{H}_{od}$ is the off-diagonal subspace, $\mathcal{H}=\mathcal{H}_d\;{\bigoplus}\;\mathcal{H}_{od}$. The restriction of the semigroup $\{T_t\}{_t_\geq_0}$ on $\mathcal{H}_d$ is Glauber dynamics, and for any ${\eta}{\in}\mathcal{H}_{od}$, $T_t{\eta}$, decays to zero exponentially fast as t approaches to the infinity.
