  • This paper proposes a decision criteria for selecting the shortest path from Dubins set between the initial and final configurations of a car-like robot. The suggested scheme is a very simple and computational savings without explicitly calculating the candidate paths and having a complicated decision table. Equations for calculating the shortest path are derived in simple form with coordinate transform and defining standard forms.

  • This paper presents a robot which is steered by vision system. The proposed robot system has an AM188ES CPU(5.3 MIPS) and 2DC motors with encoder and turns accurately at any speed and shows a movement like a human controlled car using a steering wheel. To the robot only steering angle value is sent without considering the speed. We present how to control this robot using our real time vision system.

  • The ultimate goal of developing body is revealed the "lightweight" at latest EuroCarBody conference 2012 and the most core technology is joining process to make lightweight car body design. Accordingly, in this study, the car body assembly line for the assembly process applies to any introduction, particularly in the assembly of aluminum alloy and composite materials applied by the process for the introductory approached. Process were largely classified by welding (laser, arc, resistance, and friction stir welding), bonding (epoxy bonding) and mechanical fastening (FDS, SPR, Bolting and clinching). Applications for each process issues in the case and the applicable award was presented, based on the absolute strength of the test specimens and joining characteristics for comparative analysis were summarized. Finally, through this paper, we would tried to establish the characteristics of the joint for lightweight structure.

  • This paper aims to deeply investigate the interactive patterns between a robot teacher and a participating gifted student who assembled GoGo Bumper car and controlled it with GoGo Monitor commands. Two days of classroom activities for the GoGo Bumper car project were videotaped between July 29 and 30 in 2013. Extra video-based recall interviews were also conducted three times between Nov 2013 and Jan 2014. The qualitative analysis of video data, GoGo Monitor codes and interview data revealed several unfolding patterns of computational thinking. The participating student while interacting with a robot teacher often contemplated and coded on his own ways as he worked with GoGo board testing and assembling a GoGo Bumper car. The overall process of coding and testing his own ideas by finding out relevant commands and arranging them attuned to his computational strategies seems to be cyclic.

  • Automated parking assist systems are being commercialized and rapidly spread in the market. In order to improve odometry accuracy, we proposed a practical odometry calibration scheme of Car-Like Mobile Robot (CLMR). However, there were some open problems in our prior work. For example, it was not clear whether the kinematic parameters always converged or not using the proposed calibration scheme. In addition, test driving had to be carried out "twice" without detailed explanation. This research aims to provide answers for the addressed questions though the convergence property analysis of the calibration scheme. In this paper, we evaluate on the effect of the kinematic parameter error on the odometry error at the final pose by numerical computation. The evaluation will show that the wheel diameter and tread of the CLMR can be calibrated by iterative test drives. In addition, the region of convergence in the parametric space will be discussed. Presented experimental results clearly showed that the proposed calibration scheme would be useful in practical applications.

  • In wheeled mobile robot (WMR) research, point stabilization is one of the basic research issue. Point stabilization is to set mobile robot in desired position regardless of its orientation. In this paper, we propose a point stabilization scheme for car-like type WMR. We will define a new error states named as tangential error and nomal error. Then a heuristic control scheme will be suggested. The performance of these approach is verified via POSTUR-II.

  • This paper presented a design which was a minimized remote control robot. This remote control robot was created for preventing life damage from conflagrations, nuclear events and HF gas accidents. This robot's system based smart phone that had camera and GPS systems. When fire came out, The robot figured out that how big fire was, where the fire was started and various aspects of situations. And The robot broadcasted the informations to smart phone using mobile application and wi-fi camera. By doing these, the fire mans could more accurate and be easier to plan a strategy for saving life. The body of robot are 2 parts. One is a car and the other one is a remote controller. By the power, 1step to 10steps, of grabbing remote controller could change the car's speed to move. Also, The prototype robot was already confirmed its utility itself.

  • Recently, the resource investigation has got much attention. The optimization of the resource investigation method and its automation are one of the most important keys for it. We propose the resource investigation emulating robot to overcome the conventional method; a numerical modeling. A nobel cable car robot system is developed. It minimizes the magnetic noise and comes true the gradient emulating of the field. This advanced system enables the optimization and automation of the resource investigation.

  • This paper aims at developing IT convergence robot education contents using open hardware-based GoGo Board and presenting three cases that were applied into educational settings with elementary and middle school students. Several types of data for their activities were collected: photos, work output, survey data, video data and interview with robot teacher and students. Each student experienced building up a GoGo Bumper Car with touch sensors attached at front and back sides and figuring out the principle of digital board control and operating of electronic devices by sensing. The participants, in the following phases, conducted domino chain-reaction with GoGo Bumper Cars and acquiring GoGo Driving Licence by driving test on three different road maps. Students in a gifted education program creatively implemented their own ideas as part of robotic art. The result of case analysis showed that the proposed project provides students not only intimacy for technology, fun, concentration but her own empowerment for developing ideas and creative implementation.
