Convergence Study on Participating Value & Propensity and Class Participation Behavior of College Students who Participate in Physical Education Class (교양체육수업 참여 대학생의 참여가치와 성향 및 수업 참여행동에 관한 융복합 연구)

  • This study is aimed at analyzing class participation value of the students who participate in physical education class implemented by university, and inquiring into the convergence relations between students-perceived class participation propensity and participatory behavior. In an effort to verify hypotheses consequent on this research objectives, this study conducted confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation model analysis using PASW 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The concrete results of this research are as follows: First, the class participation value of the students participating in general physical education was found to have an influence on participatory propensity. Second, the participatory propensity of the students participating in general physical education was found to have an influence on class participation behavior intention.

The Effects of Physical Education Class Participation and Perception on Stress and School Life Adaptation

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between stress and school life adaptation according to the degree of participation in physical education class and perception of middle school students. In order to achieve this research objective, the subjects of this study were sampled using cluster random sampling from male and female students attending middle schools in Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeollanam-do in 2020. 150 males and 150 females, a total of 300 people were sampled. The statistical analysis used for data analysis was frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Windows 21.0 Version. The conclusions obtained in this study through data analysis by such methods and procedures are as follows. First, it was found that middle school students' participation in physical education classes and perceptions had a partial effect on stress. Second, it was found that the degree of participation and awareness of middle school students' physical education class had a partial effect on their adaptation to school life. Third, middle school students' stress was found to have a partial effect on school life adaptation.

Association between Physical Activities and Subjective Well-being among Korea Adolescent (청소년의 신체활동과 주관적 행복감 간의 관련성)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between participation in physical activities (PA) and subjective well-being. Methods: We analyzed the data from Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, 2013 containing 36,655 and 35,780 for male and female students respectively. Study variables included PA, participation in physical education class, participation in team sports and subjective well-being. Control variables were school type, socio-economic status, level of parent education, living with parent, academic performance, delinquent behaviors, depression and perceived health. For this study, descriptive analysis, Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: Among boys, after adjusting for control variables, PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 4 times: OR 1.306), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.140), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.206) were associated with subjective well-being. Among girls, control variables were adjusted. PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs over 4 times: OR 1.244), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.161), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.181) were associated with subjective well-being. Conclusions: Participation in physical activities may help adolescent promote their life satisfaction. Thus, education experts should develop various exercise curriculums to encourage participation in physical activities.

Impact of Response-Based Learning in Physical Education Class on Participation Attitude (체육수업에서 반응중심 학습법이 참여태도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to analyze the impact of motivation through Response-Based Learning (RBL) on elementary students' attitude of participation and change before and after a Physical Education class and provide a perspective on the understanding of the practice of the PE class. For this purpose, this study selected 115 students in fifth grade in N. Elementary School located in the C. region as subjects, regardless of their sex. An exploratory factorial analysis was conducted with the subjects, and they were analyzed, applying a product-moment coefficient to examine the similarity between the factors. As shown in the result of this study, it is necessary to promote student-centered education instead of one-sided cramming education. Also, it is important to consider and convergence on apply the factors of learning before and after the class to be able to contribute to students' active and positive participation in the PE class.

Influence of Physical Education Teacher's Transformational Leadership on Trust and Class Satisfaction (체육교사의 변혁적 리더십이 학생들의 신뢰와 수업만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data needed for analyzing the factors needed for students' positive participation in physical education class and developing the leadership skills needed for effective class guidance by analyzing what relationship there exists between a physical education teacher-exercised transformational leadership and students' trust in physical education teachers and class satisfaction; thus, this study drew the conclusions as follows: First, in the relations between a physical education teacher-exercised transformational leadership and students' trust, it was found that a physical education teacher's charisma and intellectual stimulus had a positive influence on high school students. Second, it was found that a physical education teacher's charisma and individual consideration had a positive influence on a physical education teacher-exercised transformational leadership and the subordinate factor in class satisfaction-a sense of accomplishment while individual consideration and intellectual stimulus were found to have a positive influence on evaluation. Third, as for the trust in a physical education teacher and class satisfaction, the trust was found to have a positive influence on both a sense of accomplishment and evaluation.

A Study on Influence of a College Student's Participation Motivation before/after Ski Class on Class Satisfaction & Revisit (대학생들의 스키수업 참여 전·후 참여동기가 수업만족 및 재방문에 미치는 영향)

  • This study intended to look into the causal relations, in which a ski class conducted at a college is linked from college students' participation motivation to satisfaction and revisit. Among others, this study intended to boost the quality of the ski class conducted at a college with focus on the difference between the influences on satisfaction and revisit according to pre/post class participation. Further, the purpose of this study is to inquire into an ultimate basic plan required for winter sports development on the basis of the deduced results, through which this study drew the conclusion as follows: First, it was found that the influence relationship between class satisfaction before/after class was established in a joy seeking factor according to ski class participation motivation. Second, the daily routine deviation factor among the sub-factors of ski class participation motivation was found to have a positive effect on revisit before/after class while friendship promotion factor, health factor and physical strength factor were found to have an influence on revisit after class.

Relationship among Flow and Satisfaction of College Physical Education Class and Psychological Well-Being (대학 교양체육수업의 몰입과 만족도 및 심리적 웰빙의 관계)

  • This study examined the relationship among flow and satisfaction of college physical education class and psychological well-being. An analysis of 264 college students from 3 universities in D and G city revealed the following. First, flow of college physical education class had a positive influence on the satisfaction of college physical education class. Second, the flow of college physical education class did not affect the psychological well-being. Third, the flow of the college physical education class had a positive but indirect influence on the psychological well-being mediated by the satisfaction of the college physical education class. Fourth, there was a moderation effect of the leisure sport participation level on the relationship among flow and satisfaction of the college physical education class and psychological well-being.

Cognition of Elementary School Student to Teaching Method and Management of Physical Education (교사의 체육수업지도에 따른 초등학생의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to study the student cognition toward the subject of physical education and toward the method of teaching in the class. For the statistical measurement, the population has been chosen as the fifth and sixth grade 319 students(160 male; 159 female) from four different elementary schools in Seoul, Korea. In terms of the teaching method and management of students, the results show that they agree with controlled participation in class and appreciate teachers ability such as explanation, skill demonstration, knowledge, evaluation, maintaining order and participating class. However, there were no statistical difference male and female except for teacher's explanation. This study clearly indicates that the students want more affirmative and cooperative class environment and they expect to be evaluated not only by skill itself, but also by class participation and activity in their physical education class. The cognition and preference toward the class between male and female students did not show any difference in this study. After all, Teachers need to have more understanding, more compassion and more sensitivity towards their elementary students for interesting, effective and affirmative class.

The effect of teaching types of liberal arts physical education to Class Satisfaction, Class Flow and Physical Education Attitude (교양체육수업의 교수유형이 수업만족 및 수업몰입, 체육교과태도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of teaching style of liberal arts physical education professors to class satisfaction, Class flow and physical education attitude of liberal arts students. A study was conducted on a total of 221 liberal arts students. For the collected data, a confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis (Cronbach' α) for the measurement tool were performed using the SPSS 26.0 and Amos 21.0 programs. And correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. The liberal arts physical education Professor's teaching stlye affects the student's class satisfaction (educational satisfaction, environmental satisfaction, psychosocial satisfaction, physical satisfaction), and students' class flow (class immersion, purpose experience, consciousness agreement, challenge, control, Integration). In addition, it has various effects on the student's attitude toward physical education(relationships, physical activity, active participation, health and physical fitness, positive emotions). Efforts to strengthen the competence of liberal arts physical education professors will be needed to revitalize the liberal arts physical education.

Relationship between Sports Confidence and Class Satisfaction according to Adolescents' Participation in Marine Sports (청소년의 해양스포츠 참여에 따른 스포츠자신감과 수업만족도의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between sports confidence and class satisfaction according to adolescents' participation in marine sports. First, as a result of analyzing the correlation between sports confidence and class satisfaction, confidence on specific sports had a positive (+) effect on class contents, class style, and class effect, and had a negative (-) effect on physical education teachers. Competition orientation had a positive (+) effect on class contents, class style, and class effect. State sports confidence had a positive (+) effect on all the sub-factors of class satisfaction. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect of sports confidence on class satisfaction, class contents and class style had positive (+) effects on competition orientation and state sports confidence, and class environment and physical education teachers had positive (+) effects on state sports confidence and negative (-) effects on competition orientation.
