  • This study was attempted to provide basic data for the development of the nursing major curriculum and the admission strategy for attracting new students by identifying the perception of the nursing major among freshmen in the nursing department. Participants in this study were 40 freshmen who agreed to participate in the study among freshmen in the department of nursing who completed self-exploration, a required liberal arts course for freshmen opened in the first semester of 2021. Data collection was a study diary written by participants after 15 weeks of class, and the traditional content analysis method suggested by Heieh and Shannon was applied to data analysis. As a result of the study, three themes were derived: 'motivation for entering the nursing major', 'value of the nursing major', and 'obstacles to the nursing major'. Therefore, colleges and departments need to strengthen their entrance examination strategies to develop and conduct field trip programs for experiential departments linked to middle and high schools and It is necessary to solve the difficulties in taking major courses by providing subject and extracurricular programs targeting students who lack basic learning ability.

  • In order to suggest desirable management of college mathematics for freshmen in middle level engineering college, we analyse the change of mathematics recognition between 2011 year and 2015 year freshmen who took college scholastic ability test which are based on the national mathematics curriculum 7th and 7th revision, respectively. In A university, 2011 year and 2015 year engineering freshmen were taken basic mathematical ability test and given the survey for the recognition of mathematics and college mathematics. Research results are as follows: First of all, middle level engineering freshmen were poor at basic mathematical ability. The change of mathematics recognition appeared in the level of mathematics ability and the effort for college mathematics class. Moreover middle level engineering freshmen recognize college mathematics as a basic subject for engineering and hope teacher-directed learning in college mathematics class. For the success of college mathematics in engineering college, this study suggests basic mathematical ability test and the survey for the recognition of mathematics and college mathematics. We also suggest that college mathematics class must be focused on basic mathematical ability improvement and self-directed learning.

  • In order to examine the change in mathematical inclinationn of middle level engineering college freshmen, we analyse the change of mathematical inclination between 2011 year and 2015 year freshmen who took college scholastic ability test which are based on the national mathematics curriculum 7th and 7th revision, respectively. In medium-sized D university, 2011 year and 2015 year engineering freshmen were taken the test for mathematical inclination, the survey for mathematical background and the recognition of college mathematics and basic mathematical ability test. The outcomes of this survey are followings: Firstly, between 2011 year and 2015 year freshmen, the mean of confidence and flexibility are same, but the 2015's mean of willpower, curiosity, value and esthetics are greater than 2011's. Secondly, in the mean of flexibility, willpower and curiosity, natural science's mean is greater than humanity's. Thirdly, the mean of mathematical inclination's factors is depend on college mathematics goal. Fourthly, there is little correlation between mathematical basic ability and mathematical inclination. Moreover for 2011 year and 2015 year freshmen, the mean of mathematical inclination's factors except value is proportional to mathematical basic ability. For the success of college mathematics in engineering college, this study suggests that high school mathematics curriculum and college scholastic ability test must contain calculus. We also suggest that college mathematics class must be focused on mathematical inclination improvement.

  • This study has tried to find the gap of health promoting behavior and the lower level-health responsibility, physical activity, self-actualization, stress management and self-efficacy-between new freshmen and other university students in dormitories who have taken health education as an elective course through health education. With 105 students conducted self-answering survey. It was conducted from June 12 to June 13 of the year 2013. Analysis has been conducted into 5-point scale in every parts of health promoting behavior, 4-point scale in self-efficacy. As a result of the study, after health education, the increasing level of the score was bigger than general university students in preceding research before education; from this, we could interpret that the peers who live together lead positive competition. For before-and-after affects of education, after-education score increased statistically significantly higher from before-education score for both freshmen and other students on every item of the survey. Especially, self-efficacy and stress management, which are the lower level of health promoting behavior, have shown statistic significance of health education. When comparing freshmen and other students, the item that showed significant difference was 'self-efficacy,' and for both before and after health education, other students had higher score than freshmen. Based on the result of the analysis, for those who live together with group of people such as in-dorm students, group education is preferred to personal education; in addition, when selecting health education recipients, better achievement of education will be expected by primarily educating students who have lower level of self-efficacy and stress, especially freshmen who have lower self-efficacy level than other students in university.

  • Team activities in engineering curriculum play the major role in nourishing students with problem-solving and team-working capabilities. Educators endeavor to guide students to achieve success experiences through team activities. The sense of success depends on how the students think and feel about team activities. In this study, we investigated the students thoughts on team activity in various aspects. We provided freshmen and juniors with a set of questionnaire and gathered answers, from which we tried to elicit implication that we may apply for coaching their team activities. The analysis result shows that the perception level of freshmen on team activities is less mature in a sense that the freshmen's view is more neutral than that of juniors. Regardless of the grade, they show that they put more emphasis on the team atmosphere than on the team performance. Especially the freshmen are more sensitive to the relationship between the team members than the juniors. The juniors concern more about whether they prepare well enough for the team activities or not. Both of the grades prefer self-regulation in team formation and think the leadership is essential in performing team activities. However, they both hesitate to take a role as a leader. We expect the research result will provide novel ideas for coaching students to obtain valuable experiences on team activities.
