Establishing the Concept of ICT-Based Creative Talented Persons (ICT기반 창의인재상 정립에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposed the concept model of ICT-based Creative Talented Persons as the type of persons that gifted education in the ICT area should cultivate for the 21st century. The model of ICT-based Creative Talented Persons is made of three dimensions by 3 core competencies, 9 traits, and 27 characteristics. The field experts, that is, teachers on elementary and secondary school levels evaluate the validity of the model. Teachers expressed positive opinions about the validity of the multi-dimension model of ICT-based Creative Talented Persons. We expect that this model can provide a useful guide to designing and operating ICT education and ICT gifted education for cultivating talented persons to contribute for the future society.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the pre-service teachers' perception for education paradigm and teacher's teaching competency in the fourth industrial revolution era. For this study 53 pre-service teachers participated in the discussion instruction during one semester. The study result was to analyze the discussion reports of pre-service students using the grounded theory approach. As a result, the pre-service students responded that the school needs to change the learner-centered education and assessment method in the fourth industrial revolution era. Secondly, the result of the teachers' teaching competencies was the integrated curriculum reconstruction, information processing, empathy and understanding, creative teaching and instructional design, collaboration and communication. This study is expected to contribute to the change of education paradigm for pre-service teachers in the fourth industrial revolution era.

The Analysis of Experts' Perceptions Toward the Talented in Intelligence and Information Society (지능정보 핵심인재상에 대한 전문가 인식 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine experts' conceptions of the competencies of future talent to live in the fourth industrial revolution. To this end, 144 experts in the education sector conducted conceptions survey on the talented for intelligence and information society. The main findings of the survey by experts are summarized as follows. First, the level of agreement on the competencies of the talented in the intelligence and information society was found in the order of 'creative convergence competencies', 'making competencies', 'character competencies' and 'specialization competencies'. Second, the highest level of agreement on the characteristic factors were found to be 'problem-solving ability' belonging to 'creative convergence competencies'. Finally the highest level of agreement on the characteristic components were found to be 'problem-solving ability' belonging to 'creative convergence competencies'.

  • This research is based on core competency in order to provide diverse educational opportunities and to train compatible human resources according to industrial change. The research set up the core competency of university students according to document research and the importance of core competency of students, professors, faculty and parents. As a result, a total of 14 competencies were deducted by importance and validation from enrolled students, graduated students and professors. A total of 5 core competencies and 14 detailed competencies were deducted. Creativity, problem solving ability, self-directed overall problem solving abilities, expertise ability, data processing ability, technology application according to industry, consideration and serving character, community service, communicational ability, self-management, inter personal relationship, foreign language ability, global, leadership and competence were the 14 elements of this research. Based on the result of this study, it is necessary to improve the competence of university students by applying them to the curriculum development and operation and to find out the extent of the students competence enhancement through the development of future capacity measuring tools.

A study on the teacher's perception of personality area in the in-depth interview process of the selection of gifted children (영재 선발의 심층면접에서 인성에 대한 현장 교사들의 인식 분석)

  • The study aims to analyze teachers' perception of the "personality" area, which can be subjective in the in-depth interview process of selecting gifted children and is easily shunned due to its weak immediate effect. To this end, First, when asked about their difficulties as gifted teachers, many of them answered "professionalism and workload" and cited personality as the most important area to address in-depth interviews in selecting gifted students. It also recognized that personality interviews are necessary for the most basic virtues of education and social contribution, and cited cooperation, consideration, and concession as the sub-components to be dealt with in the personality interview. It was necessary to check whether each student's capabilities were evaluated in a variety of ways in an in-depth interview of the teacher's observing and recommending system. And it needed to be supplemented by in-depth observations such as the development of a valid question, camp or debate in the evaluation of the personality area. In order to reflect the needs of the education field, it will be necessary to supplement the personality interview in the gifted children's selection. And there is also a need to continue to study how to guide the personality education of already selected gifted children.

Association between Teachers' Conceptions of Art Education and Children's Creative Personality-Mediating Effects of Teachers' Role of Creativity Improvement (예술교육에 대한 유아교사의 인식과 유아의 창의적 인성 간의 관계: 창의성 증진을 위한 교사역할 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among teachers' conceptions of art education, and children's creative personality by mediating effects of teachers' role of creativity improvement. Participants included 156 teachers and 593 children in kindergartens and child care centers. Results indicated the following. First, the higher teacher's concepts of art education was the higher their role of creativity improvement was and children's creative personality was. Second, teachers' conceptions of art education and their role of creativity improvement were positively influenced by the children's creative personality. Third, the children's creative personality was influenced by the teachers' conceptions of art education and the their role of creative improvement control and the mediating effects of the teachers' role of creative improvement was significant in a partial way. The implication is that the teachers' conceptions of art education may enhance the their role of creative improvement and foster children's creative personality.

Trend Analysis of Research Related to Personality of University Students Through Network Analysis (네트워크 분석을 통한 대학생 인성 관련 연구의 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to use network analysis to identify trends in university personality-related studies and provide implications for future research directions. For the purpose of this study, 194 papers related to personality of university students published in Korean scholarly journals. First, research began to be published in 2004, slightly increased in 2012, continued an upward curve from 2015, peaked in 2017, and is confirmed to be a downward trend. Second, the main keywords with the centrality analysis were 'society' and 'cultivation'. Third, keywords on the cognitive side and individual dimension of personality in the first period (2004 - 2010), social dimension and emotional side of personality in the second period (2011-2015), and social level and cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of personality in the third period (2016-2020). Fourth, Topic 2 consisted of keywords of ability, life, interpersonal, satisfaction, and adaptation, and Topic 1 consisted of competence, morality, citizens, society, and practice. Fifth, Topic 4 alone in the first period, in the order of Topic 1 and Topic 2 in the second period, and in the order of Topic 2 and Topic 1 in the third period.

'Development' and 'Relations', as the Core Concepts of Home Economics in 2015 Revised Middle School Curriculum in Korea (2015 개정 가정과의 핵심개념 '발달과 관계' - 중학교 교육과정을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this review was to introduce and examine 'development' and 'relations' as the core concepts of Home Economics in 2015 revised middle school curriculum in Korea. The 2009 and 2015 proclamation of the ministry of education on home economics curriculum and 26 published middle school textbooks were reviewed. The major findings were as follows. First, the components of human 'development' and family 'relations' were strongly associated with promoting four key competencies (i.e. the self-management competency, the communication competency, the aesthetic sensibility competency, the community competency) of 2015 revision. Also, four of cross-curricular learning topics (i.e. character education, multicultural education, safety and health education, human right education) in 2015 revision could be effectively discussed with human 'development' and family 'relations'. Second, when teaching and learning of the core concept, human 'development', continuous dynamic aspects of life-span development, the connectedness of different domains of development, systematic approach of various concepts in development, specificity and empirical evidence of information and variability of developmental patterns in adolescence should be considered. Third, when teaching and learning of the core concept, family 'relations', family trait such as generational relations, gender relations, role relations and power relations should be taken into account. In addition, exclusively focusing on normal family ideology or image of middle-class family and lecture-centered instruction methods should be changed for students to achieve the competencies relevant to family relations. The future directions for applying core concepts, 'development' and 'relations' in classroom will be discussed.

A Study on the Students' Needs for the Improvement of Liberal Arts Curriculum : Focused on the Case of J University (교양교육과정 개선을 위한 학생 요구 분석: J대학 사례를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze students' needs for improving the liberal arts curriculum at J University. In order to achieve such as this, 422 students from 11 departments of J University's two campuses looked at the core goals of 1 liberal arts education, 2 core competences that they think should be achieved in the liberal arts curriculum, 3 subject areas of the liberal arts curriculum they wish to open, 4 hopeful subjects, and 5 urgent tasks in reforming liberal arts education. The results are as follows. First, male students were most likely to point out the achievement of core competency as a key goal of liberal arts education. Second, the core competences to be achieved in the liberal arts curriculum were found to place importance on communication and interpersonal relations, character, self-care development and job creation skills. Third, there was a high percentage of people who wanted to open a curriculum in the field of arts and sports. Fourth, liberal arts courses that wish to be opened appeared in the order of women's studies or feminism, sports related subjects, philosophy, and psychology. The results of this study could be used as basic data for the revision of the J University liberal arts curriculum.

Relations of Key Competencies and Home Economics Curriculum in the Competency-Based Curriculum (역량중심 교육과정에서의 핵심역량 요소와 가정과 교육과정과의 연관성 연구)

  • This study analyzed components of key competencies and its relations with Home Economics curriculum though literature analysis method. The literature total of 26 relating to key competencies is collected from two research institutes(KICE, KEDI) and two academic Journals(KSCS, KHEEA). The results show, first, every countries suggested different categories and components of key competencies according to classification of DeSeCo report(OECD, 2005). In subject matter, intellectual and learning capacities are emphasized; where as in inter-disciplinary or trans-disciplinary areas promoting character and competencies are focused. Second, ideal portraits of human being through home economics education is not closely related with those in a national curriculum. Third, achievement standards should be stated aligned with competencies, goals and curriculum contents, standards. Finally, there is a need to develop a curriculum design framework that teaching learning process incorporates knowledge, skills, and strategies relating other subject areas.
