  • We studied aspects of secondary school science teachers in the Chonbuk province concerning their science-related attitudes using the several measuring tools. We applied the multiple comparison to twelve factors at the science teachers 'backgrounds and analyzed the discrepancy in group levels. Science teachers feel half-hearted for the attitudes related to science teachers show a high correlation between the attitudes toward science and the scientific attitudes. We examined the tendency to the science-related attitudes of science teachers having various backgrounds within 5 percent differences of P-value. The contented teachers for their occupations marked higher than the other teachers in the tendency to the science-related attitudes, and the attitude-score of the science teachers graduated from regular colleges also marked higher than the teachers from the training institutes or the different majors. We have investigated the teachers just in Chonbuk province, but we should recognize that the scores in both the perception and the teachers are not improved comparing with the before-studies of Lee(1985), Park(1993), etc. As a result, the development of measuring tools which teachers can examine themselves as their features is needed and the educational systems to specialize the science education should be improved through the various programs for teachers' training courses.

  • This study is a basic research to apply ESD linked to SDGs to pre-service teachers majoring in earth science education. The purpose of this study is to evaluate carbon literacy by analyzing the awareness, attitude and knowledge, subjective norms, and behavioral control of the carbon footprint internalized by pre-service teachers. Pre-service teachers recognize the carbon footprint as their responsibility, but are not willing to pay the cost and accept inconveniences of the actions to reduce carbon footprint. They also support actions to reduce carbon footprint, but do not demand the actions from others. While they have sufficient knowledge about carbon mitigation actions, their conception of causes and effects of global warming is unstable. Pre-service teachers will go out to school sites and teach millions of students about global warming. It is essential to educate these teachers on the economic cost and social responsibility of reducing their carbon footprints. It is also important to find ways to bridge the gap between their thought and action. It is hoped that this study on pre-service teachers' carbon literacy will lead to realizing ESD.

  • As is the case with South Korea, if the authority for decision making on curricula is concentrated on the state level, the perspective of the understanding on the curricula could be said to be essential. And, such an understanding on the curricula can be important not only to the theorist of curricula but also the teachers in educational institutions. Also, there have been a number of studies to examine the awareness of the teachers on education reform. However, the studies on the resistance factor was mainly focused on the relationships with traits of individuals, covering factors such as their habits, maturity, character, and age, etc. But, it was difficult to find consistency in the results of these studies. Therefore, in this study, the researcher selected the teachers as the key factor of the execution of the curricula and examined the awareness of the teachers on education resistance and the negative views thereupon in the relationship between the knowledge, attitude, skills, and education execution, with a view to find another meaning. The subjects of this study were selected among the teachers in middle or high schools located in Gangnam, Songpa, and Joonggu districts of Seoul. The survey was conducted online with 15 institutions over three weeks from April 13 to 30, 2018. The data gathered were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0, in order to validate the hypotheses through frequency analysis, confidence analysis, factor analysis, structural equation model, and sobel-test. The result of the analyses showed that the factors that affected execution of curricula were the skill system, knowledge system, and attitude of the teachers, in that order, with a positively significant influence. And, significant differences were identified between the factors depending on high or low resistance among teachers.

  • With the importance and necessity of using AI in the field of education, this study aims to explore elementary school teachers' perceptions of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in mathematics education. For this purpose, we conducted a survey using a 5-point Likert scale with 161 elementary school teachers and analyzed their perceptions of mathematics education with AI via four categories (i.e., Attitude of using AI, AI for teaching mathematics, AI for learning mathematics, and AI for assessing mathematics performance). As a result, elementary school teachers displayed positive perceptions of the usefulness of AI applications to teaching, learning, and assessment of mathematics. Specifically, they strongly agreed that AI could assist personalized teaching and learning, supplement prerequisite learning, and analyze the results of assessment. They also agreed that AI in mathematics education would not replace the teacher's role. The results of this study also showed that the teachers exhibited diverse perceptions ranging from negative to neutral to positive. The teachers reported that they were less confident and prepared to teach mathematics using AI, with significant differences in their perceptions depending on whether they enacted mathematics lessons with AI or received professional training courses related to AI. We discuss the implications for the role of teachers and pedagogical supports to effectively utilize AI in mathematics education.

To accomplish this goal, survey and in-depth interview on their technology classrooms were employed. Participants in this study were 427 first-year college students who began their college life in 2013 and consisted of 224 students enrolled in 10 departments of educational major and 203 students who enrolled in 9 departments of other colleges. The instrument of this study consisted of preference toward technology classrooms and teachers, experience in the secondary technology classrooms, perception toward technology teachers, and suggestions for technology classrooms with five point Likert scales and open-ended questionnaires. And individual in-depth interviews with 22 volunteers who answered the instrument and consented the interview process were conducted. Based on the collected data, statistical and theme analyses were performed and the key findings were as follows. First-year students' experiences for technology classrooms were described with the theme of 'learning contents or activities'(54.4%). And the negative perception toward technology classrooms(29.1%) was larger than he positive perception(16.5%). The perception toward technology classrooms was also presented with two themes of teaching methods and subject interest. The perception toward technology teachers presented a medium level preference with several themes of teachers' teaching methods, teachers' personality, and subject interest. Lecture style method(60.48%) was largely used in the participants' technology classrooms and problem solving or collaborative methods was not frequent(19.31%). The participants indicated a need for improving teaching methods in technology education and suggested sufficient administration and curriculum supports and transitions of the learning contents. Further studies investigating the diverse public's perception toward technology and technology classrooms could be recommended.
