The purpose of this study is to suggest the guidelines for suitability analysis of the environmentally friendly rural village housing site. And then this study is based on the rural village model for the rural village (re)development. The suitability analysis of environmentally friendly rural village housing site is conducted on Suryon dong, Wonju, Gangwon-do. The method of analysis is to secure validaty and reliability of the exact analysis of a geographic data for a decision-making statistical analysis. The results of this study is useful to prove it conclusively site-suitability to establish a principles and to change direction for the environmentally friendly rural village and rural housing (re)development.

Growing use of entire glass facades with metal frames are popularly witnessed in modern building practices and design competition as well. In spite of architectural aesthetics and view to outdoors, environmental issues still exist in that kind of buildings. One of the solutions for the problems might be the use of functional glasses such as a heat-resistant glass or various tinted glasses for the glass walls. This paper aims to provide performance data related to the impact of various transmittal materials of window systems on the light distribution. A series of computer simulation deals with the basic geometrical and optical design elements of a commonly used all-glass facades. Additionally an experimental configuration of the vertical window is proposed for better result of daylighting. A window system equipped with an inner-light shelf can improve the uniformity of natural light in a space by reducing the level of illumination near the window and redirecting light deeply into the space.

The importance of Building Remodeling as a means to create an architectural environment capable of responding to the social, economic changes has increased more than ever. And it has become necessary to consider Environmental performance in Building remodeling. Consideration of converting buildings into Environment-Friendly Remodeling of Office Buildings makes more and more increased in our construction compatibility. This Study is intended to increase the designer' recognition of Environmental Performance Improvement in the feasibility analysis and schematic design of Office Building Remodeling and to provide Planning Data and Guidance. In this context, this study is focused on the "planning Guidance for Environmental Friendly Remodeling". Through this study, the flow of Environmental Design and Construction is elevated reaching the level in developed country.

Designing outdoor lighting on landmarks has been activated in Korea since 2002 World Cup. And outdoor lighting has been important method to create nighttime activities. Especially, historic buildings which are illuminated by outdoor lighting expresses cultural beauty of the heritages in the region. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the outdoor lighting effect of historic buildings with particular reference to four historic buildings - Namdaemun, Kwanghwamun, Changanmun and Paltalmun. For the purpose, luminance of outdoor lighting are measured. Outdoor lighting of the historic buildings were mainly illuminated by the floodlights. In addition, up-lighting and accent lighting were used for expressing the bracket structure. Basements and rooflines are emphasized by floodlighting, and they represented the night image of historical buildings. For the subjective evaluation on the outdoor lighting of historic buildings, outdoor lighting images of four historic buildings - Namdaemun, Kwanghwamun, Changanmun and Paltalmun were photographed. Questionnaire surveys were conducted by hundred and twenty university students of architectural department And collected papers were statistically analyzed by SPSS. Factors that shows outdoor lighting images of historical buildings are as follows; atmosphere, clearness, intimacy, modelling. On the question of general impression of outdoor lighting, Kwanghwamun has got the most satisfactory responses and the next is Changanmun and Namdaemun, Paltalmun. Major variables which related to the 'general impression' of outdoor lighting for historic buildings have been 'dignity', 'match', 'elegance', 'beauty' in the order.

New visible photocatalyst(Nanovis$^{(R)}$) has been synthesized to overcome the barrier of limitation of UV light utilization of current $TiO_2$ photocatalyst. It was found that red shift of absorption spectrum to 550nm was achieved. Its physical properties were characterized by XRD, BET and TEM. It is also observed that Nanovis$^{(R)}$ has a photocatalytic activity for photodegradation of Trichloroethylene under visible light irradiation. V,VII group doped into substitutional sites of $TiO_2$ has proven to be indispensable for band-gap narrowing and photocatalytic activity. These test results lead us to conclude that Nanovis$^{(R)}$ can be used for IAQ improvemen and for photocatalytic water splitting to hydrogen.

This study is to improve plan for the law and regulation systems on the perpendicular greening with containers to improve urban environment. The supports backed by laws and regulations are imperative for the activation of building greening. Although some local administrations in Korea try to lead perpendicular greening on building by means of Green Building certification system and so on, greening policies and managements are not pushed forward with consistency. Therefore building greening should be admitted to be a substitute green tract of land. The positive construction and management of greenzone should be accomplished as well. Devices, so to speak, which put greening under an obligation or authorize it as legal landscape area should be made rather than recommendations to make greenzone through current incentive systems. Positive perpendicular greening on building can be achieved by supplementing the law and regulation and incentive system about simplified planter. If planting and managing of simplified planter are continually entrusted to residents, even vertical landscapes will be affected by illegal diversion and negligence in result. Therefore, supports from governments and local administrations are needed.

This study intends to propose the fundamentals of 'Ecovillage' design by researching into the cycle system of material of 'Crystalwaters' which is having been in charge of a leading role of GEN since 1996 (GEN was formed in 1996) as Ecovillage in Australia. First, to secure the water resources, we can store up rain and the water of valley, and dam. Second, we are able to use the natural filter apparatus, do tree-planting of roof to gain better quality of water. Third, it is to save the energy as supplying water. For it, we make the best of a gravity that is one of the cycle principle of water. Forth, to build a Dam can make a site of scenic beauty, do the role of recreation place and provide against emergencies (a fire, drought) as well as make a mild climate. Fifth, it can reduce the environment load because of sewage and garbage as making it compost. This is possible by treating biologically using composting apparatus of the dry or wet process. Sixth, it is to reduce the environmental pollution as to discharge seperating a recycable waste, an organic matter being able to make it compost. Finally, first of all, environmentally friendly inhabitant consciousness from lifestyle and production style plays an importent part for water cycle and the ecological cycle of waste and sewage.

Apartments recently built have been strategically designed in many ways, and one of the most striking aspects is to utilize the idea of environmental friendliness and the application to the living environment. Especially, the number of environmentally friendly apartments that concern the health of residents have been increasing and their landscape is notably differentiated. The purpose of this research study was to examine the landscape of the environmentally friendly apartments that have been built in the past five years, and to assess its features in the aspects of therapeutic garden. Based upon the review of previous studies, this study constructed a checklist that was used to evaluate the planning components of the landscape during site visits. This study found that overall landscape selected in the study was well-planned. However, it was suggested that more features of therapeutic garden such as vegetation area which both encourages interaction with residents and produces therapeutic benefits be adopted in planning the advanced therapeutic garden of environmentally friendly apartments.

Ecological architecture enables people to recycle and reuse architectural resources within the category of ecosystem and also to minimize the effect on environment in a whole process, including architectural planning, usage and exhaustion to use sustainable energies. Rammed earth wall construction method utilized in EcoCenter located in Crystalwaters ecological village in Austrailia is a good example, which maximizes its advantages and also covers its limits to use soil and wood as structural resources. In a case of wood, they used non-treated timber to minimize environmental load and utilized used materials in openings. In the roofs, aluminum coated steel which is plated with zinc collects rain effectively even though it is not regenerable. Nontoxic finishes and insulation in floor and ceiling with used papers are able to minimize its environmental load. Solar energy system applied in EcoCenter enables them to market extra energy with electricity companies as well as support needs of its own buildings to utilize photovoltaic panel system with PV panels. Passive solar system is planned effectively in heating and cooling to apply regenerative walls in a use of rammed earth wall construction and natural ventilation systems through openings.
