  • The stability of general pulse-width modulation system with Gaussian random disturbance was discussed . General system is divided into nonlinear and linear elements using the conventional describing function method. The concept of the equivalent admittance was used to find the transfer characteristic of the nonlinear element of the system. In this paper the self-sustained oscillation condition in the autonomous system was derived and the results was analyzed with computer simulation.

  • The explosion of a nuclear weapon radiates a gamma-ray in the form of a transient pulse. If the gamma-ray introduces to semiconductor devices, much Electron-Hole Pairs(EHPs) are generated in depletion region of the devices[7]. as a consequence of that, high photocurrent is created and causes upset, latchup and burnout of semiconductor devices[8]. This phenomenon is known for Transient Radiation Effects on Electronics(TREE), also called dose-rate effects. In this paper 3D structure of inverter and NAND gate device was designed and transient pulse gamma-ray was modeled. So simulation for transient radiation effect on inverter and NAND gate was accomplished and mechanism for upset and latchup was analyzed.

  • The radial overcut in micro electrochemical machining was investigated. The prediction of overcut is important not only for the machining accuracy but also for the shape control of micro structures. In micro ECM, machining gap or overcut depends on electrolyte, pulse voltage, pulse duration and dissolution time etc. Understanding of electrochemical dissolution rate is necessary for the overcut prediction. In this paper, the radial overcut of micro electrochemical machining according to pulse duration and dissolution time was simulated using electrochemical principles and also experimentally estimated.

  • In Korea, Lunar exploration program has been prepared with the aim of launching in the 2020's. As a part of it, a lunar lander demonstrator was developed, which was the model for verifying the system such as structure, propulsion, and control system, before launching into the deep space. This paper deals with the path tracking performance of the lunar lander demonstrator with respect to the thruster controller based on Pulse Width Pulse Frequency Modulator (PWPFM) and Pulse Width Modulator (PWM). First, we derived equations of motion, considering the allocation of the thrusters, and designed the path tracking controller based on Euler angle. The signal generated from the path tracking controller is continuous, so PWPFM and PWM modulator are adopted for generating ON/OFF signal. Finally, MATLAB simulation is performed for evaluating the path tracking ability. We compared the path tracking performances of PWPFM and PWM based thrust controller, using performance measures such as the total impulse and the position error with respect to the desired path.

  • Various types of dielectric-barrier-discharge (DBD) devices have been developed for diverse applications for the last decade. In this study, a flat non-thermal DBD micro plasma source under atmospheric pressure has been developed. The flat-panel type plasma is generated by bipolar pulse voltages, and driving gas is air. In this study, the plasma source was investigated with intensified charge coupled device (ICCD) images and Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES). The micro discharges are generated on the crossed electrodes. For theoretical analysis, 2-dimensional fluid simulation was performed. The plasma source can be driven in air, and thus the operation cost is low and the range of application is wide.

  • Gyroscope's deadzone is a region where can not detect the rate even though the actual rotation is applied. This paper analyzed the cause of deadzone by modeling/simulation and introduced pulse dithering method to overcome. From the testing of 3-axis fiber optic gyro system using 900m fiber, it confirmed deadzone could be effectively eliminated by combination of three factors, dither amplitude, dither frequency, and gyro loop gain.

  • Harmonic elimination method of using coupling transformer in twelve pulse inverter is presented for high power application. This method is using coupling transformer and PWM(pulse width modulation) switching and voltage source inverter. The object of proposed harmonic elimination method is obtained inverter output of low THD(Total Harmonic Distortion). The simulation results confirm the proposed harmonic elimination method.

  • A nuclear explosion emits a transient radiation pulse like gamma rays. Gamma rays have a high energy and cause unexpected effects in semiconductor devices. These effects are mainly referred to dose-rate latcup and dose-rate upset. By transient radiation pulse in CMOS devices, dose-rate latchup is simulated in this paper.

  • In this paper, a new CMOS fully integrated frequency-to-digital converter is proposed. The operation of the proposed circuit is based on a pulse-shrinking delay element. In the proposed circuit, a resolution of the converted digital output can be easily improved by increasing the number of the pulse-shrinking element. Also the input frequency range can be easily changed through controlling bias voltage in the pulse-shrinking element. The simulation of the designed circuit carried out by HSPICE using the CMOS 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ process technology.

  • Pulse inverter-type TIG(Tungsten Inert Gas) arc welders are studied to investigate the dynamic performance of welding. Welding currents are controlled to be pulse waveforms resulting in stable are better welding performance. The hybrid-type controller is proposed to control the welding current. Todemonstrate the practical significance of our results we present some simulation results.
