Spherical nanosized cobalt powder with an average size of 150-400 nm was successfully prepared at room temperature from cobalt sulfate heptahydrate ($CoSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$). Wet chemical reduction method was adopted to synthesize nano cobalt powder and hypophosphorous acid ($H_3PO_2$) was used as reduction agent. Both the HCP and the FCC Co phase were developed while $CoSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ concentration ranged from 0.7 M to 1.1 M. Secondary phase such as $Co(OH)_2$ and $CO_3O_4$ were also observed. Peaks for the crystalline Co phase having HCP and FCC structure crystallized as increasing the concentration of $H_3PO_2$, indicating that the amount of reduction agent was enough to reduce $Co(OH)_2$. Consequently, a homogeneous Co phase could be developed without second phase when the $H_3PO_2/CoSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ ratio exceeded 7.

Titania particles are widely used as a photocatalyst to treat various contaminants in air and water. Titania particles were formed by vapor-phase oxidation of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) in a tube furnace between 773 and 1,273 K. The effect of process variables such as furnace temperature, flow rate of carrier air, and flow rate of sheath air on powder size and phase characteristics was investigated using a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The size distribution of synthesized titania particles was characterized with mode diameter and peak concentration. The mode diameter ranging from 20 to 80 nm decreased with increasing flow rates of sheath air and carrier air, and increased with increasing furnace temperature. The peak concentration increased with increasing flow rates of sheath air and carrier air The best synthetic condition for high production rate can be derived from the experimental data set represented by mode diameter and peak concentration. The crystal structure of synthesized titania particles was found to be anatase phase, ensuring high photocatalytic potential.
Certain agrochemicals may be tuned for increased effectiveness when downsized to nanoparticles (NPs), where one dimension is less than 100 nm. The NPs may function as fertilizers, pesticides and products to improve plant health through seed priming, growth promotion, and induction of systemic tolerance to stress. Formulations will allow targeted applications with timed release, reducing waste and pollution when compared to treatments with bulk-size products. The NPs may be a single component, such as nano-ZnO as a fertilizer, or be composites of compatible materials, for example where N, P, and K plus micronutrients are available. The active materials could be loaded into porous carriers or tethered to base nanostructures. Coatings could include such natural products alginate, chitosan, zein, or silica. Certain NPs are taken up and transported in the plant's phloem and xylem so systemic effects are feasible. Timed and targeted release of the active product could be achieved in response to changes in pH or availability of ligands within the plant or the rhizosphere. Global research has revealed the many potentials offered by NP formulations to aid sustainability in agriculture. Current work will provide information needed by regulatory agencies to assess their safety in the agricultural setting.
In the present study, we investigated the austenite stability of a sintered Fe-based nanocrystalline alloy. The volume fraction of austenite was measured based on the X-ray diffraction data of sintered Fe-based nanocrystalline alloys, which were prepared by high-energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering. The sintered alloy samples showed a higher volume fraction of austenite at room temperature as compared to the equilibrium volume fraction of austenite obtained using thermodynamic calculations, which resulted from the nanosized crystalline structure of the sintered alloy. It was proved that the austenite stability of the sintered Fe-based alloy increased with a rise in the amount of austenite stabilizing elements such as Mn, Ni, and C; however, it increased more effectively with a decrease in the actual grain size. Furthermore, we proposed a new equation to predict the martensite starting temperature for sintered Fe-based alloys.
The objectives of this study were the development of a synthesis technique for highly active nanosized ITO powder and the understanding of the reaction mechanisms of the ITO precursors. The precipitation and agglomeration phenomena in ITO and $In_{2}O_{3}$ precursors are very sensitive to reaction temperature, pH, and coexisting ion species. Excessive $Cl^-$ ion and $Sn^{+4}$ ions had a negative effect an synthesizing highly active powders. However, with a relevant stabilizing treatment the shape and size of ITO and $In_{2}O_{3}$ precursors could be controlled and high density sintered products of ITO were obtained. By applying the reprecipitation process (or stabilization technique), highly active ITO and $In_{2}O_{3}$ powders were synthesized. Sintering these powders at $1500^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours produced 97% dense ITO bodies.
Nano-sized cobalt powder was fabricated by wet chemical reduction method at room temperature. The effects of various experimental variables on the overall properties of fabricated nano-sized cobalt powders have been investigated in detail, and amount of NaOH and reducing agent and dropping speed of reducing agent have been properly selected as experimental variables in the present research. Minitab program which could find optimized conditions was adopted as a statistic analysis. 3D Scatter-Plot and DOE (Design of Experiments) conditions for synthesis of nano-sized cobalt powder were well developed using Box-Behnken DOE method. Based on the results of the DOE process, reproducibility test were performed for nano-sized cobalt powder. Spherical nano-sized cobalt powders with an average size of 70-100 nm were successfully developed and crystalline peaks for the HCP and FCC structure were observed without second phase such as $Co(OH)_2$.
Electrical wire explosion in liquid media is a promising method for producing metallic nanopowders. It is possible to obtain high-purity metallic nanoparticles and uniform-sized nanopowder with excellent dispersion stability using this electrical wire explosion method. In this study, Ni-Fe alloy nanopowders with core-shell structures are fabricated via the electrical explosion of Ni-Fe alloy wires 0.1 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length in de-ionized water. The size and shape of the powders are investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and laser particle size analysis. Phase analysis and grain size determination are conducted by X-ray diffraction. The result indicate that a core-shell structured Ni-Fe nanopowder is synthesized with an average particle size of approximately 28 nm, and nanosized Ni core particles are encapsulated by an Fe nanolayer.
The sol-gel method is the simplest method for synthesizing monodispersed silica particles. The purpose of this study is to synthesize uniform, monodisperse spherical silica nanoparticles using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as the silica precursor, ethanol, and deionized water in the presence of ammonia as a catalyst. The reaction time and temperature and the concentration of the reactants are controlled to investigate the effect of the reaction parameters on the size of the synthesized particles. The size and morphology of the obtained silica particles are investigated using transmission electron microscopy and particle size analysis. The results show that monodispersed silica particles over a size range of 54-504 nm are successfully synthesized by the sol-gel method without using any additional process. The nanosized silica particles can be synthesized at higher TEOS/$H_2O$ ratios, lower ammonia concentrations, and especially, higher reaction temperatures.

Ti-Al-N ($Ti_{75}$$Al_{25}$ N) and Ti-Al-Si-N ($Ti_{69}$$Al_{23}$$Si_{8}$N) coatings synthesized by a DC magnetron sputtering technique were studied comparatively with respect to phase characterization and high-temperature oxidation behavior. $Ti_{69}$$Al_{23}$$Si_{ 8}$N coating had a nanocomposite microstructure consisting of nanosized(Ti,Al,Si)N crystallites and amorphous $Si_3$$N_4$, with smooth surface morphology. Ti-Al-N coating of which surface $Al_2$$O_3$ layer formed during oxidation suppressed further oxidation. It was sufficiently stable against oxidation up to about $700^{\circ}C$. Ti-Al-Si-N coating showed better oxidation resistance because both surface Ab03 and near-surface $SiO_2$ layers suppressed further oxidation. XRD, GDOES, XPS, and scratch tests were performed.
Nanosized WC and WC-Co powders were synthesised by chemical vapor condensation(CVC) process using the pyrolysis of tungsten hexacarbonyl(W(CO)$_6$) and cobalt octacarbonyl(Co$_2$(CO)$_8$). The microstructural changes and phase evolution of the CVC powders during post heat-treatment were studied using the XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, and ICP-MS. CVC powders were consisted of the loosely agglomerated sub-stoichimetric WC$_{1-x}$ and the long-chain Co nanopowders. The sub-stochiometric CVC WC and WC-Co powders were carburized using the mixture gas of CH$_4$-H$_2$ in the temperature range of 730-85$0^{\circ}C$. Carbon content of CVC powder controlled by the gas phase carburization at 85$0^{\circ}C$ was well matched with the theoretical carbon sioichiometry of WC, 6.13 wt%. During the gas phase carburization, the particle size of WC increased from 20 nm to 40 nm and the long chain structure of Co powders disappeared.
