  • The Purpose of this study was to explore the effects of differentiation, emotion over involvement(expressed emotion), and criticism between middle-or-old aged parent and child, by relation of emotional system, on child's psychological depression. The subject of this study were m premarital adult children over 30 years old. The major findings of this study were as follows. First. it was found that mother-child differentiation was more perceptive than that of father-child. With psychological depression, expressed emotion within family and criticism were shown average score that was lower than middle score. Second, among demographic characteristics, there are significant differences premarital adult children's sex, education, income, family type, father's education, and parents' marital status. Third, as the result of regression analysis, the higher level of psychological depression when the lower differentiation between parent-child, the higher expressed emotion over involvement within family and criticism. Based on the findings in this study, the relation of emotional system is very important. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the therapeutic intervention and relation improvement program when individual and family counseling about parent-child are going on.

  • Macrophage is an important innate immune cell that not only initiates inflammatory responses, but also functions in tissue repair and anti-inflammatory responses. Regulating macrophage activity is thus critical to maintain immune homeostasis. Tyro3, Axl, and Mer are integral membrane proteins that constitute TAM family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). Growing evidence indicates that TAM family receptors play an important role in anti-inflammatory responses through modulating the function of macrophages. First, macrophages can recognize apoptotic bodies through interaction between TAM family receptors expressed on macrophages and their ligands attached to apoptotic bodies. Without TAM signaling, macrophages cannot clear up apoptotic cells, leading to broad inflammation due to over-activation of immune cells. Second, TAM signaling can prevent chronic activation of macrophages by attenuating inflammatory pathways through particular pattern recognition receptors and cytokine receptors. Third, TAM signaling can induce autophagy which is an important mechanism to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome activation in macrophages. Fourth, TAM signaling can inhibit polarization of M1 macrophages. In this review, we will focus on mechanisms involved in how TAM family of RTKs can modulate function of macrophage associated with anti-inflammatory responses described above. We will also discuss several human diseases related to TAM signaling and potential therapeutic strategies of targeting TAM signaling.

  • This study aimed at examining the mediation effects of depressive symptoms on the association between social activity participation and marital satisfaction among couples in later life. The study included 1,196 married couples aged 65 or above who participated in the 7th Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging in 2018. The study variables were husbands' and wives' social activity participation, marital satisfaction, and depressive symptoms. Covariates were individual age, education level, subjective health, couples' household income, and number of children. The Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediation Model (APIMeM) and bootstrapping techniques were used to test the significance of the mediating impacts of depressive symptoms based on the dyadic data structure. The results showed that for both husbands and wives, active participation in social activities had significant effects on increasing marital satisfaction through lowering depressive symptoms. However, only the participation of husbands in social activities was positively associated with their own marital satisfaction by reducing their own and their partner's depressive symptoms. These findings suggest that the active social participation of individuals salient for promoting the quality of marital relationships in later life, particularly for preventing their own and their spouse's depressive symptoms.

  • The study was conducted at village level in Pabna milkshed areas of Bangladesh to asses the existing feed and fodder sources of cattle. The results showed that the overall number of cattle per farm family was 7.17 and chicken represents highest number (15.57) per farm family in this area. The results also indicated that during monsoon season the bathan is planted with Vigna mungo and Lathyrus sativus and average grazing hours per day varied from 1.1 in October to 5.6 in February. In Summer, they were offered naturally grown Cynodon dactylon with supplementary feeding of rice straw. The study further showed that the highest (65.7%) feed scarcity was found during mid April to mid May followed by mid June. The cultivation of Vigna mungo was highest (76.71%) compared to Lathyrus sativus by the farmers in the bathan areas. The major constraint to cattle production is the scarcity of quality feed during mid October to mid November.

  • Eight species and four genera belonging to two families of antipatharians have been reported in Korea. In the present study, the major specimens were collected from the coastal areas of Jejudo Island from 2005 to 2006, and the other ones which have been deposited in the Natural History Museum and the Department of Life Science, Ewha Womans University during the period from 1965 to 2004 were reexamined. As a result of this work, four species, Myriopathes bifaria, M. stechowi, M. ulex and Plumapathes pennacea are new to Korean antipatharian fauna. In this study, total six species including previously recorded species of the family Myriopathidae were described. And the distribution range of Myriopathes lata was turned out to be expanded from southwestern sea to the eastern sea, up to Ulleungdo Is. of Korea. Especially, the sexuality and the gonadal stage of M. lata which are collected during their reproduction period were also determined by means of histological analysis.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the residents' needs fer the residential services according to residents' characteristics in multi-family housing. The results of this study are as follows 1) It was found that the 22 elements were selected as the residential services and they were categorized by 5 factors for the analysis 2) The ranked favorable needs of residential-services were the garbage separation(M=3.97), the apartment complex management (M=3.89), the parking management(M=3.88) etc. orderly. 3) As to there results analyzing the needs for the residential services, it was found that there were differences in needs according to the residents' characteristics. Therefore, this study emphasized on the necessity of the planning to classify the residential services according to the residents' characteristics.

  • In this paper, we consider a m-type risk model with Markov-modulated premium rate. A integral equation for the conditional ruin probability is obtained. A recursive inequality for the ruin probability with the stationary initial distribution and the upper bound for the ruin probability with no initial reserve are given. A system of Laplace transforms of non-ruin probabilities, given the initial environment state, is established from a system of integro-differential equations. In the two-state model, explicit formulas for non-ruin probabilities are obtained when the initial reserve is zero or when both claim size distributions belong to the $K_n$-family, n $\in$ $N^+$ One example is given with claim sizes that have exponential distributions.

  • We study the Fisher Information (FI) of m-generalized order statistics (m-GOSs) and their concomitants about the shape-parameter vector of the Iterated Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (IFGM) bivariate distribution. We carry out a computational study and show how the FI matrix (FIM) helps in finding information contained in singly or multiply censored bivariate samples from the IFGM. We also run numerical computations about the FIM for the sub-models of order statistics (OSs) and sequential order statistics (SOSs). We evaluate FI about the mean and the shape-parameter of exponential and power distributions, respectively. Finally, we investigate the Kullback-Leibler distance in concomitants of m-GOSs.

  • The problem addressed is that of sequentially estimating the difference between the means of two populations with respect to the squared error loss, where each population distribution is a member of the one-parameter exponential family. A Bayesian approach is adopted in which the population means are estimated by the posterior means at each stage of the sampling process and the prior distributions are not specified but have twice continuously differentiable density functions. The main result determines an asymptotic second-order lower bound, as t → ∞, for the Bayes risk of a sequential procedure that takes M observations from the first population and t - M from the second population, where M is determined according to a sequential design, and t denotes the total number of observations sampled from both populations.

  • In this paper we propose a new family of nonlinear binary sequences generated by $m$-sequences for decimations $d=2^{k-1}(2^{s+1}-2^k+2^{k(i+1)}-2^{ki}-1)/(2^s-1)$ where $n=2k$, $i$ is odd and $s$ is such that $2s$ divides $k$. And we analyze the cross-correlation function between two $m$-sequences for new decimations $d$. Proposed sequences is extension of Rosendahl's sequnces and Dobbertin's sequences.
