As an application of Clifford theory, we are interested in a situation in which every irreducible projective character of a finite group G is an induced character of an irreducible linear character of some subgroup H of G. For this purpose, we study relative projective monomial groups with respect to subgroups.

Let L be the free Lie superalgebra generated by a $Z_2$-graded vector space V over C. Suppose that g is a Lie superalgebra gl(m, n) or q(n). We study the g-module structure on the kth homogeneous component Lk of L when V is the natural representation of g. We give the multiplicities of irreducible representations of g in Lk by using the character of Lk. The multiplicities are given in terms of the character values of irreducible (projective) representations of the symmetric groups.

Parks [7] showed that there is an one to one correspondence between good pairs of subgroups in G and irreducible monomial characters of G. This provides a useful criterion for a group to be monomial. In this paper, we study relative monomial groups by defining triples in G, and find relationships between the triples and irreducible relative monomial characters.

In this paper we find the irreducible complex characters of the automorphism group of the general linear group of degree 7 over a field with two elements. It is shown that this group has 114 irreducible complex characters.

Let denote the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra spo (2m,1). For each irreducible -module, we describe its character in terms of tableaux. Using this result, we decompose kV, the k-fold tensor product of the natural representation V of , into its irreducible -submodules, and prove that the Brauer algebra Bk(1-2m) is isomorphic to the centralizer algebra of spo(2m, 1) on kV for m .

Several partial orders on integral partitions have been studied with many applications such as majorizations, capacities of quantum memory and embeddabilities of matrix algebras. In particular, the embeddability, stable embeddability and strong-stable embeddability problems arise for finite dimensional irreducible modules over a complex simple Lie algebra L. We find a sufficient condition for an L-module strong-stably embeds into another L-module using formal character theory.

Let G be a symmetric group. In this paper we describe a method that for a certain irreducible character X of G it finds a subgroup H such that the restriction of X on H has a linear constituent with multiplicity one. Then using a well known algorithm we can construct a representation of G affording X.

In this paper we compute the Bredon homology of wallpaper groups with respect to the family of finite groups and with coefficients in the complex representation ring. We provide explicit bases of the homology groups in terms of irreducible characters of the stabilizers.
