  • In this paper, an improved full bridge inverter is presented to get multiple output for UV lamp and barrier discharge. It has a structure of two equivalent half bridge inverters and one full bridge inverter. The outputs of the proposed circuit can be controlled using frequency and PWM independently. To verify the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results has been done using a prototype power supply.

  • In this paper, control strategies of the bridge-type ZVT inverter for AC motor drive application were discussed. The topology of the ZVT inverter is analyzed with a description of the control conditions based on the load current. And a new resonant control algorithm by using load current feedback and modified SVM algorithm for the proposed ZVT inverter is proposed in order to achieve the ZVT switching condition in full control range. The detailed computer simulation and experimental results represent that ZVT and ZCT operation for the main and auxiliary switch, respectively, was achieved.

  • This paper describes a study on the series resonant inverter using the double full-bridge, and the output voltage of the proposed inverter is controlled by phase shift angle of the outputs of two inverters. These control schemes can be reduce the switching loss and EMI, etc, which the inverter is drived by auto following control of output frequency, because it is impossible for switching devices to be always turned on and off at zero voltage or zero current. Theoretical characteristics of the proposed double inverter circuit are compared with Pspice simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a novel hybrid type multilevel inverter in order to improve the waveshape of output voltage. The proposed multilevel inverter is consist of two full-bridge modules for level creation and one full-bridge module for PWM operation. The generated levels are total 11-level: 9-level by the level inverter and 2-level by the PWM inverter. The operational principles and analysis are explained and validity of the proposed system is verified through the experimental results using a prototype.

  • In this paper, we proposes a multilevel inverter which can synthesize multi output voltage levels by adding DC voltage sources and switch components. In the proposed circuit topology, full-bride inverter determines the output polarity and the number of output voltage levels are defined by the operation of the additional switches. It can reduce the number of switch devices compared with the conventional approaches when they generate the same number of output voltage levels. To verify the validity of the proposed multilevel inverter, we present simulation and experimental results using a prototype.

  • Recently, a fuel cell is remarkable for new generation system. The fuel cell generation system converts the chemical energy of a fuel directly into electrical energy. The fuel cell generation is characterized by low voltage and high current. For connecting to utility, it needs both a step up converter and an inverter. The step up converter makes DC link and the inverter changes DC to AC. In this paper, full bridge converter and the single phase inverter are designed and installed for fuel cell. Simulation and experiment verify that fuel cell generation system could be applied for the distributed generation. In this paper, the 1.5kW active clamp current-fed full bridge converter employing MOSFETs is operated to discharge the battery whereas a voltage-fed half bridge converter employing IGBTs is operated to charge the battery.

  • In this paper, a new PCS is proposed which is consisted of high boost dual converter and single phase half-bridge inverter. The proposed PCS is configured in parallel input / serial output, using two interleaved voltage doubler converter. Converter of the proposed PCS is distribute input current by configuring parallel input and reduced turn ratio of transformer by configuring serial output. Also, compositions of the inverter are composed of serial output capacitor of converter and half-bridge inverter. The dual converter and single phase half-bridge inverter is designed and characteristic of the new PCS is analysed. The system of the 1.5[kW] PCS is verified through an experimental about operation and stability.

  • The backlight inverter used in a laptop computer is investigated in this paper. It has been difficult for the electromagnetic transformer in the inverter to have a high efficiency and compact profile. In this study the piezoelectric transformer(PT) is used to reduce the loss and volume compared to the standard electromagnetic transformer. Comparison with the experimental inverter with the PT has been shown to validated the simulation program using the equivalent circuit model of the PT. A simple dimming control circuit was experimentally demonstrated and shown to have broad control.

  • This paper proposes a novel LCD CCFL-backlight electronic ballast using the phase-shift full-bridge inverter. The proposed electronic ballast reduces the ignition voltage and eliminates current spikes using the new digital dimming control applied with soft-starting. Thus the electronic ballast improves ignition behavior of the CCFL and hence increases the CCFL's life span. For this, this paper analyzes the full-bridge inverter topology of the proposed electronic ballast and explains the new digital dimming control algorithm applied to the ballast, briefly. And this paper shows a design example of the prototype circuit and explains an implementation method of the digital dimming control which is implemented on a single-chip microcontroller with software. This was implemented as actual prototype electronic ballast, and its experimental results showed that the proposed electronic ballast operates correctly. The ignition voltage of the prototype in the digital dimming operation was reduced about 30[%] compared with the conventional electronic ballast and there were not any current spikes.

  • This paper analyzes a resonant inverter to generate plasma. The resonant inverter consists of a full bridge converter, resonant network and reactor to generate a magnetic field for plasma generation. A plasma load has very distinct characteristics compared to conventional loads. The characteristics of plasma load are analyzed through experimental results. This paper presents the study on the resonant network, which was performed in order to determine how to achieve a constant current gain. Another important contribution of this study is the analysis of drop-out phenomenon observed in plasma loads which is responsible for unpredictable shutdown of the plasma generator that requires stable operation. In addition, the design process for the resonant network of a plasma generator is proposed. The validity of this study is verified through simulations and experimental results.
