공과대학의 전문교양 교과목 운영 현황 분석 (A Comparative Analysis of Professional General Education In Engineering School)

  • This study analyzed and compared the curriculum of 12 arbitrarily selected Colleges of Engineering for their professional general education. Since the Korean Accreditation of Engineering Education has existed for the last 10 years a growing need for improvements was identified and thus this study shall provide a basis for future curriculum developments of the professional general education. For this purpose the educational objectives, the syllabus, the self-assessment reports and catalogues of the 12 Colleges were reviewed and the relevance between the educational objectives of each engineering school and the learning outcomes in the professional general education were analyzed. Furthermore, by analyzing the area of subject that each College of Engineering's mechanical engineering program's professional general education focuses on, the current trend can be examined. Finally, the credit requirements and their allocation and the distribution of the professional general education over the semesters were analyzed. The results of this study were as followed; these capabilities such as creativity, professionalism, globalization, ethics, humanism, design ability, management ability, responsibility and communication are suggested as educational objectives of 12 engineering schools. But courses related to globalization, ethics & responsibility and communication skills were much more often taught. Not only do the allocated credits for the courses of professional general education differ from university to university but the distribution over the semesters vary as well.

공학계열 대학생들의 공학소양교육 요구분석 (The Needs Analysis of the General Eduction in Engineering Education for Undergraduate Students at Engineering Related Departments)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the general education contents for undergraduate students at engineering related departments through need analysis in order to develop creative and integral talents. For this study, the need analysis was conducted by using focus group interviews, Borich's educational need equation and the Locus for Focus Model, and highly ranked priorities on both methods proposed as the highest priorities. As a result, 'drawing up a letter of self-introduction and a portfolio', 'understanding fields', 'understanding careers related to the major', 'presentation skills', 'knowledge for certificated exams', 'method to deduct creative ideas' were high on the list of top five priorities. The selected items by Locus for Focus Model show that undergraduate students at engineering related departments need general education contents associated with career development and communication by priority.

일반계고의 창의공학설계 수업을 위한 아두이노 기반 STEAM 수업자료 개발과 적용 (Development of STEAM Instructional Materials using Arduino for Creative Engineering Design Class in High Schools and Its Application)

  • The purpose of the study was to develop the Arduino based STEAM instruction materials for creative engineering design class. PDIE model was used in this study. We developed a STEAM lesson plan and a STEAM lesson worksheet for a total of six sessions through the steps of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation. The validity of the instruction materials was evaluated by the 10 experts using a survey. The instruction materials were applied to the class (52 students attended) of the creative engineering designs unit in technology and home economics subject. The class satisfaction and the creative solving-problem ability were examined after the calss. The class satafacition was high as the average of 10 item was 4.57 (out of 5). The paired t-test was conducted to compare the means of the creative solving-problem ability. It was observed that 'understanding and mastery of knowledge, thought, function and skills in a specific domain', 'divergent thinking', 'critical and logical thinking' and ' motivational factors' were significantly increased after the class. The instruction materials develped in this study were successfully designed to enhance the creative solving-problem ability by designing creative tasks and to intrique the interest by adding visual and auditory stimuli with the Arduino.

  • The installation of PV system to the power distribution system is being increased as one of solutions for environmental pollution and energy crisis. However, the efficiency of PV system is getting decreased because of the aging phenomenon and several operation obstacles. Therefore, The technology development of aging diagnosis of PV modules are required in order to improve operation performance of PV modules. This paper proposes evaluation algorithm for aging state in PV modules by using the electrical characteristics of PV modules and environmental factors. And also, this paper presents a operation evaluation system of PV modules based on the proposed aging diagnosis algorithm of PV modules. From the simulation results of proposed evaluation system, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm is a useful tool for aging diagnosis of PV systems.

대학생의 우주 교육을 위한 라즈베리 파이 기반 캔위성 수업자료 개발과 적용 (Development of CanSat Instruction Materials using Raspberry Pi for Space Education in University and Its Application)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop Raspberry Pi-based CanSat instruction materials for liberal arts classes to be used in university space education. The educational satellite simulation program is developed by applying the ADDIE program consisting of analysis, design, development, execution, and evaluation of 15 lessons per semester. The usefulness of the instruction materials is evaluated by a validity test of a total of 6 experts. The proposed materials are applied to 100 college students from various majors. To analyze the impact on creative problem-solving ability, a questionnaire is conducted before and after class, and as a result, it is confirmed that there is a significant improvement in all areas after class. The class satisfaction survey is conducted for a total of 10 questions, and the average score is 4.41 out of 5, which is high. In conclusion, the proposed instruction materials make it possible to achieve successful space education using Raspberry Pi and improve creative problem-solving ability in universities.

  • From 2010, an "excellent engineer" undergraduate and graduate program had been initiated in higher education of China to promote the development of industry and social economy. In this circumstance, the engineering education programs in Dalian Maritime University are reformed to satisfy the requirements of transportation industries. And the engineering practice, engineering activities, and engineering courses are emphasized. In this training program, industrial communities are deeply involved in the engineering education and training procedure; the students are educated and trained in university and enterprise according to the common standards and industrial standards; and the engineering competences and creative ability are emphasized and are to be enhanced in the training schedules and procedure. A joint-training mode has been established already between Dalian Maritime University and enterprises in transportation fields.

  • This study had a purpose to investigate elements of teamwork skill for engineering students. For this, literature review and delphi method were used. The delphi survey was conducted with 20 experts consisting of experts in engineering, education, and industry field. 22 elements of teamwork skill for engineering students were finally developed. Teamwork skill included knowledge, skill, and attitude for engineering students. Further, the results of this study present a guideline to develop teamwork skill in engineering education.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the theory behind creative engineering design instructional characteristics. This study was conducted as a literature review to derive engineering design instructional characteristics. The results showed that there are three primary characteristics: learner-centered instructional activities, collaborative communication interactions, and multidisciplinary convergence to promote creative thinking. This study was meaningful in that it identified creative engineering design instructional characteristics based theoretical considerations of engineering design and engineering design education. Therefore, it is expected that the results of this study will contribute to the development of creative engineering design instructional models.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a direction for domestic engineering education research by analyzing the research trends of JEE(Journal of Engineering Education). The results of analyzing research trends regarding research topics, research objects and research methods are as follows. First, by research topic, 'Diffusion of Educational Innovation' was found to have the highest proportion with 52 articles(21%). Second, by research objects, 'university students' showed the highest proportion with 148 articles(53.6%). Third, by research method (large category), 'quantitative research' had the highest proportion with 132 articles(53.2%). By research method (medium category), 'survey research' had the highest proportion with 129 articles(33.5%). Based on the results of this study, future engineering education research should be conducted to contribute to holistic development through diversification of research topics, methods, and objects.

  • 우리나라의 공적개발원조는 큰 성장을 보이고 있으며, 특히 직업훈련학교에 대한 지원은 그 효익이 직접적이고 단기적으로 발생되게 되어서 수원국에 큰 효익을 안겨준 것으로 평가되고 있다. 그러나 공적개발원조에 대한 경제적 성과를 측정할 수 있는 모형이 없어서 단편적인 성과 측정에 머무르고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 개도국 직업훈련학교에 대한 공적개발원조 시 적용가능한 경제적 성과측정모형을 개발하고자 하는 것이며, 이를 위하여 재무정보를 중심으로 하는 ROI모형을 설정하고 여기에 비재무정보를 중심으로 하는 BSC를 접목하였다. 직업훈련학교는 그 효익의 대상이 명확하고 효익이 교육생의 졸업과 동시에 발생되는 특징이 있으므로, 비재무정보 보다는 재무정보 중심으로 모형을 구셩하는 것이 보다 목적적합하다고 사료된다.
