  • We consider a system of particles with locations { $X_{i}$ $^{n}$ (t):t$\geq$0,i=1,…,n} in $R^{d}$ , time-varying weights { $A_{i}$ $^{n}$ (t) : t $\geq$0,i = 1,…,n} and weighted empirical measure processes $V^{n}$ (t)=1/n$\Sigma$$_{i=1}$$^{n}$ $A_{i}$ $^{n}$ (t)$\delta$ $X_{i}$ $^{n}$ (t), where $\delta$$_{x}$ is the Dirac measure. It is known that there exists the limit of { $V_{n}$ } in the week* topology on M( $R^{d}$ ) under suitable conditions. If { $X_{i}$ $^{n}$ , $A_{i}$ $^{n}$ , $V^{n}$ } satisfies some diffusion equations, applying Ito formula, we prove a central limit type theorem for the empirical process { $V^{n}$ }, i.e., we consider the convergence of the processes η$_{t}$ $^{n}$ ≡ n( $V^{n}$ -V). Besides, we study a characterization of its limit.t.

  • Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) are population-based optimization methods based on the principle of Darwinian natural selection. The representative methodology in EAs is genetic algorithm (GA) proposed by J. H. Holland, and the theoretical foundations of GA are the Schema Theorem and the Building Block Hypothesis. In the meaning of these foundational concepts, simple genetic algorithm (SGA) allocate more trials to the schemata whose average fitness remains above average. Although SGA does well in many applications as an optimization method, still it does not guarantee the convergence of a global optimum in GA-hard problems and deceptive problems. Therefore as an alternative scheme, there is a growing interest in a co-evolutionary system, where two populations constantly interact and co-evolve in contrast with traditional single population evolutionary algorithm. In this paper we show why the co-evolutionary algorithm works better than SGA in terms of an extended schema theorem. And predator-prey co-evolution and symbiotic co-evolution, typical approaching methods to co-evolution, are reviewed, and dynamic fitness landscape associated with co-evolution is explained. And the experimental results show a co-evolutionary algorithm works well in optimization problems even though in deceptive functions.

  • Let {$Y_{ij}-{\infty}\;<\;i\;<\;{\infty}$} be a doubly infinite sequence of identically distributed and ${\rho}^*$-mixing random variables with zero means and finite variances and {$a_{ij}-{\infty}\;<\;i\;<\;{\infty}$} an absolutely summable sequence of real numbers. In this paper, we prove the complete moment convergence of {${\sum}^n_{k=1}\;{\sum}^{\infty}_{i=-{\infty}}\;a_{i+k}Y_i/n^{1/p}$; $n\;{\geq}\;1$} under some suitable conditions. We extend Theorem 1.1 of Li and Zhang [Y. X. Li and L. X. Zhang, Complete moment convergence of moving average processes under dependence assumptions, Statist. Probab. Lett. 70 (2004), 191.197.] to the ${\rho}^*$-mixing case.

  • The purpose of this paper is to prove strong convergence theorems for common fixed points of two families of weak relatively nonexpansive mappings and a family of equilibrium problems by a new monotone hybrid method in Banach spaces. Because the hybrid method presented in this paper is monotone, so that the method of the proof is different from the original one. We shall give an example which is weak relatively nonexpansive mapping but not relatively nonexpansive mapping in Banach space $l^2$. Our results improve and extend the corresponding results announced in [W. Takahashi and K. Zembayashi, Strong convergence theorem by a new hybrid method for equilibrium problems and relatively nonexpansive mappings, Fixed Point Theory Appl. (2008), Article ID 528476, 11 pages; doi:10.1155/2008/528476] and [Y. Su, Z. Wang, and H. Xu, Strong convergence theorems for a common fixed point of two hemi-relatively nonexpansive mappings, Nonlinear Anal. 71 (2009), no. 11, 5616?5628] and some other papers.

  • We present a new theorem for the semilocal convergence of Newton's method to a locally unique solution of an equation in a Banach space setting. Under a gamma-type condition we show that we can extend the applicability of Newton's method given in [12]. We also provide a comparative study between results using the classical Newton-Kantorovich conditions ([6], [7], [10]), and the ones using the gamma-type conditions ([12], [13]). Numerical examples are also provided.

  • Wu and Zhao [17] provided a semilocal convergence analysis for a Newton-type method on a Banach space setting following the ideas of Frontini and Sormani [9]-[11]. In this study first: we point out inconsistencies between the hypotheses of Theorem 1 and the two examples given in [17], and then, we provide the proof in affine invariant form for this result. Then, we also establish new convergence results with the following advantages over the ones in [17]: weaker hypotheses, and finer error estimates on the distances involved. A numerical example is also provided to show that our results apply in cases other fail [17].

  • This paper investigates the existence of mild solution for a fractional integro-differential equations with a deviating argument and nonlocal initial condition in an arbitrary separable Hilbert space H via technique of approximations. We obtain an associated integral equation and then consider a sequence of approximate integral equations obtained by the projection of considered associated nonlocal fractional integral equation onto finite dimensional space. The existence and uniqueness of solutions to each approximate integral equation is obtained by virtue of the analytic semigroup theory via Banach fixed point theorem. Next we demonstrate the convergence of the solutions of the approximate integral equations to the solution of the associated integral equation. We consider the Faedo-Galerkin approximation of the solution and demonstrate some convergenceresults. An example is also given to illustrate the abstract theory.

  • Simple Genetic Algorithm(SGA) proposed by J. H. Holland is a population-based optimization method based on the principle of the Darwinian natural selection. The theoretical foundations of GA are the Schema Theorem and the Building Block Hypothesis. Although GA does well in many applications as an optimization method, still it does not guarantee the convergence to a global optimum in some problems. In designing intelligent systems, specially, since there is no deterministic solution, a heuristic trial-and error procedure is usually used to determine the systems' parameters. As an alternative scheme, therefore, there is a growing interest in a co-evolutionary system, where two populations constantly interact and co-evolve. In this paper we review the existing co-evolutionary algorithms and propose co-evolutionary schemes designing intelligent systems according to the relation between the system's components.
