During global recessions, such as the 2008 financial crisis, Korean shipping companies have been undergoing a liquidity crisis that is comparably worse than other shipping companies worldwide. One of the reasons behind this repetitive vicious cycle can be the lack of ability to foresee the future by analyzing and understanding the volatile shipping market. Traditionally, in order to assimilate the shipping market, larger Korean shipping companies have been purchasing market reports published by Europe-based research companies and shipping brokers, leading to a digital divide by company size. To resolve this issue, the Maritime Exchange Information Center (MEIC) has been publishing shipping market reports that include essential shipping information such as freight rates by different routes; commodity trends for iron ore, grain, and coal; ship-building trends for new-building, second-hand, and demolition markets; as well as bunker price and port congestion. This research was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of four variables-information usefulness, market reflection, information composition, and latest information-on information satisfaction. If the information satisfaction was found to be adequate, the analysis of actual proof was used to determine if the customers would be willing to purchase MEIC's report when it is chargeable. All the four variables were found to have positive effects on information satisfaction. In particular, latest information was found to directly affect the intention to purchase. Furthermore, high information satisfaction was related to the intention to purchase.

The present study assessed the amount of $CO_2$ uptake owing to concrete carbonation through a case study for an apartment building with a principal wall system and an office building with Rahmen system under different exposed environments during use phase and recycling application. The $CO_2$ uptake assessment owing to concrete carbonation followed the procedure established by Yang et al. As input data necessary for the case study, actual surveys conducted in 2012 in Korea, which included data about the climate environments, $CO_2$ concentration, lifecycle inventory database, life expectancy of structures, and recycling activity scenario, were used. From the comparisons with the $CO_2$ emissions from concrete production, the $CO_2$ uptake during the lifetime of structures was estimated to be 5.5~5.7% and that during recycling activity after demolition was 10~12%; as a result, the amount of $CO_2$ uptake owing to concrete carbonation can be estimated to be 15.5~17% of the $CO_2$ emissions from concrete production, which roughly corresponds to 18-21% of the $CO_2$emissions from cement production as well.

Steel pile foundations are widely used for offshore constructions due to their high bearing capacity and efficiency. Typically, offshore structures that have reached the end of their design life are required to be demolished. However, pile foundations are often left on site due to technical and economic limitations. The pile left on the site not only pollutes the environment, but can also cause obstacles for the construction of new structures. Therefore, research is required to completely eliminate these foundations at the site. In this study, a new type of double-wall pile foundation that can drastically reduce the pull-out load was conceptually proposed, and a series of model tests were performed to validate the performance of the double-wall pile foundation. The installation and extraction of the double-wall pile were simulated in dry sand in the model test, and the measured up-lift load was compared to that of the conventional pile. According to the result, the maximum up-lift load induced by the decommissioning of the double-wall pile was reduced by 45% when compared to the traditional pile in dense sand. This study verified the mechanism for reducing the up-lift load of the double-wall foundation and confirmed the possibility of completely decommissioning a pile that has reached the end of its nominal service life.
This study examined changes in the ecological characteristics and design characteristics of Ban's exhibition space in three representative temporary exhibition halls and three permanent exhibition halls designed by Ban Shigeru since 2000. Through the investigation of the concepts and characteristics of ecological architecture, the design characteristics of exhibition space, the analysis framework of the design characteristics of exhibition space and the design elements of ecological architecture is obtained. The analysis results show that there are big changes between the temporary exhibition space and the permanent exhibition space in terms of building scale, space composition, function, materials and technology. On the one hand, the temporary exhibition space used recyclable materials, such as paper tubes, containers to be assembled on site into a single-layer space focused on display. The assembly method was simple and the construction period was short. After the exhibition, the exhibition space were dismantled. The materials were either transported to the next display site or recycled and reused. On the other hand, the permanent exhibition space used reinforced concrete as the main structure, and used a large amount of wood and glass materials to construct a multi-layered composite cultural space that separated the exhibition space and the leisure space. In terms of ecological characteristics, the building materials of the temporary exhibition space were recycled and no industrial wastes were generated after the demolition. The permanent exhibition hall uses eco-friendly wood for the roof and walls, so it is easy to replace and repair. Both types of exhibition halls are changing ecological architecture in a more sustainable direction by saving resources and energy through natural light and ventilation.

In order to induce users to purchase excellent products in the water industry that satisfy the technical standards of excellent products, in this study, it is to present the advantages of the cost aspect of the pumps as the objective basis. It will be to promote technology development of domestic water companies and to create a virtuous cycle structure in the water industry. In order to present an objective basis for the merits in terms of cost, an economic evaluation was conducted through life cycle cost analysis. For the LCC analysis, initial cost (pump cost and installation cost), operation cost (energy cost and maintenance cost) and demolition cost (disposal cost and residual value) are searched and calculated. As the results of comparison on two capacity of pumps, the energy cost of the excellent pump is 212 million KRW lower than the that of general pump in the large pump. The cost of excellent pump was 17 million KRW lower than that of general pump in small capacity pump. As the results of sensibility test, if the product is developed in the direction of improving pump efficiency and increasing the replacement cycle of consumables, it is predicted that the effect on LCC will be large.
This study is about the architectural changes over time in Dongchun-gotaek, the house of Song Jun-gil, one of the representative figures of the Hoseosarim(湖西士林), also an architectural cultural asset representing Daejeon. Data related to Sangryang(上樑) found in the restoration process of Dongchundang(同春堂) and DongchundangJongtaek(同春堂 宗宅), the state designated heritage application report written by Daejeon Metropolitan City, Deokeun-gaseung(德恩家乘), a book which has been handed down from generation to generation from Dongchundang Munjeonggongpa(同春堂 文正公派) of Eunjin Song's Clan and the results of partial excavation surveys respectively conducted in 2010 and 2020 were used as basic research data, and these data were compared and analyzed to examine the changes of the arrangement of Dongchundang, Jeongchim(正寢), and ancestral shrine buildings. Dongchundang was built by Song Jun-Gil. Rather than a new building, it was a building that was basically relocated to its current area when Cheongjwawa(淸坐窩), which was built by his father, dilapidated, and the timing of its construction can be clarified through Sangryangmun(上樑文). However, in the estimated area of Cheongjwawa, no exact site was found in two surveys of buried cultural heritages. In the case of Jeongchim, it was possible to confirm that it had been relocated two times, and it can be said that the biggest achievement of this study was to confirm that the first relocation was outside the current fence. In addition, one of the building sites which was identified in the excavation survey for confirming the servants' quarters was estimated to be the first construction at the site of Dongchun-gotaek. In the shrine area, there were the first constructed Gamyo(家廟), including Byeolmyo(別廟) dedicated to Bulcheonwi(不遷位), and Jomyo(祧廟) dedicated to Checheon(遞遷), and it can be seen that it was a space where many changes such as new construction, demolition, or mutual exchange of location occurred over time. The present buildings arrangement through these processes was not far from the original plan of Song Joon-gil. Therefore, the name of 'Dongchun-gotaek' is appropriate.
Game technologies are now applied in various engineering areas such as the simulation of surgical operation or the implementation of a cyber model house. One of the essential and important technology in these applications is cutting of the 3D polygon model in real time. Real-time cutting technology is an essential technology needed to implement the simulation of a building demolition or a car assembly for training or educational purpose. Previous cutting method using the conventional BSP-Tree structure has some limitations in that they divide the whole world including the 3D model and its environment, only into two parts with respect to an infinite plane. In this paper, we show a technique cutting the 3D model in a finite extent in order to solve this problem. Specifically, we restricted the cut surface in a finite rectangular area and constructed the mesh for the divided surface. To show the usefulness of our partial cutting technique, an example of the dismantling process simulation of a nuclear reactor polygon model was illustrated.

The generation of construction waste can be divided into a decommissioning phase and a new construction phase, and most of the waste is generated at the decommissioning stage. However, recently, domestic new construction construction has expanded to 150 trillion yards per year, so construction work is increasing rapidly. Especially, as the size of the construction work with much waste of construction waste exceeds 100 trillion, the management of the amount of construction waste in the new construction site is required. Unlike the dismantling work site, the new construction site can separate waste generated by each property, and relatively low foreign matter content is generated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the amount of construction waste generated by new construction sites and to calculate the unit amount of construction waste based on this. In addition, since the existing unit cost is centered on concrete and mixed waste, we set the basic unit by setting synthetic resin, waste wood, and waste board as additional items. The basic unit survey was carried out to investigate the wastes according to the characteristics of each construction period. As a result of the survey, the new construction site showed that most wastes were discharged in the first 30% and after 70% of the process, and the ratio of mixed construction waste was as high as 45%. As a result of this study, it was found that about twice as much waste was produced as compared with the conventional standard product.
In this treatise I have advanced a theory to regulate legal problems rationally arising from a right to a view and I have checked some precedents dealing with the temporary injunction, compensation for damage and the demolition of a house(mainly apartment) owing to an infringement of a right to a view. Relating to an infringement of a right to a view, there are more lawsuits which are instituted together with an infringement of a right to enjoy sunshine than lawsuits related only to the right to a view. In the cases of an infringement of a right to a view connects with educational or religious environment, the court made it a decision that the construction is prohibited from constructing more than a certain-story building to protect a right to a view. Plaintiffs won a case their suit in the original judgement regarding a claim for damages owing to an infringement of a right to a view, but the Supreme Court reversed the decision of a lower court. The right to a sky view should not be infringed in case of a dwelling house which is not built for the purpose of business or a view.

The purpose of this study is to investigate conservation and management methods of the Joseon Royal Tombs in the Middle District. Urbanization has damaged many of the original terrains as many buildings and facilities have entered the inner and outer area of Joseon Royal Tombs. Land purchase, relocation and demolition of the building are required for the recovery of the Royal Tombs area, and then it is necessary to recover the original terrain. In the case of land use and pathways, there were many land use which harmed the sacred atmosphere of the area, and many disconnection of the ritual circulation, they should be maintained to remind the sacred atmosphere of the royal tomb. The water system should be changed to natural type canal, and it is necessary to collect accurate information on the lost buildings and stoneworks through literature survey and excavation investigation, and then lead to the exposure or restoration of the ruins. Historical forests require periodic and ongoing monitoring and management, and it is necessary to establish a historical and cultural museum that can provide to visitors information about Joseon Royal Tombs. These works should be classified into short, medium and long-term projects with a long perspective to implement continuous and systematic projects.
