  • This study examines factors that influence delinquency among adolescents under probation using indigenous psychological analysis, focusing specifically on parent-child relationship. A total 268 adolescents under probation and their parents and 251 high school students and their parents participated in the two studies. In the first study, qualitative results indicate that both groups of adolescents were most likely to trust their parents than any other person and reason for their trust is reported to be based on blood relationship. Similarly, majority of parents of both groups reported trusting their children because of the blood relationship. Parents hope that their children will be sincere a person and will be able to maintain harmonious social relationship. Parents of adolescents under probation were more likely to report disobedience as being most problematic, whereas parents of high school students were more likely report providing social and financial support for their children's education as being the most difficult. In the second study, structured questionnaires were administered to the four groups and the following set of results were obtained. First, in terms of family background, the socio-economic status of adolescents under probation was lower, they are less likely to live with both parents or natural parents, and more likely to have ran away from home than high school students. Second, adolescents under probation are less likely to trust their parents and more likely to view their parents as being hostile. Third, parents of adolescents under probation were less likely to trust their children, more likely to view their relationship as being conflictual and hostile, and feel that they had to sacrifice for their children when compared with parents of high school students. Implications of these results for parent-child relationship and delinquency are discussed.

Also, on the contents and goals of the programs, parenting related factor was treated the most in both groups. Second, the overall effects of the parent education programs were higher on those for parents with school-aged children than parents with young children. -When parents together, not separately, participated in program, the effect size was the largest. However, the effects of other operating methods factors like number of subjects, hours per session, and number of sessions showed inconsistent results. On the effects of contents and goals, the effect of self-system competency factor as psychological characteristics was the highest in the programs for parents with young children and the effect of parenting competency factor was the highest for the ones with school-aged children. This study has implications for providing basic data for developing effective programs for parents with young and school-aged children.

For the management of school feeding systems when brought into operation, 88.7% out of 470 responded schools and 89.9% out of 227 responded teachers reported that an expert should manage school feeding systems. For futuristic direction, an effective joint cooking type between schools which may be the way to solve the difficulties in securing the appropriate space and to decrease the financial burden, the problem of transportation for delivering feeding products, low quality of feeding, and sanitation can occur. Therefore, the distance between schools which operate a joint cooking system will affect as a major factor. • The information society based on Internet has positive effects to provide us with abundance and comfort as well as enhancement of quality of life. But it also has negative effects which bring about more serious social problems than real life. These negative effects of the cyber space are especially critical to elementary school students who do not have good judgment capability and clear concept on cyber space. To solve these problems, we have to let them have ethical sense to respond to the dysfunctions of Internet. We need to enforce Internet ethics education at home and in school so that they can behave as responsible and moral behaviors in this information society. Because the most of the elementary school students usually use Internet at home, the role of their parents can be particularly important factor in Internet ethics education. The purpose of this paper was to identify the current status of the consciousness on Internet ethics of the elementary school students who are the creators of new culture on Internet and their parents who make great influence on their education, and to study what influence the consciousness on the Internet ethics of parents has made on the Internet usage of their children. Through this study, we try to provide the desirable direction for Internet ethics of elementary school students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the parent related factors that influence internet game addiction among elementary school students. Method: Data was collected through self-administered questionnaires and descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Data survey was conducted with 739 conveniently selected students who were in grades 4, 5, and 6 of elementary schools in Seoul or Gyung-gi province. Results: The addiction groups were classified as general user group (84.3%), potential risk group (10.0%) and high risk group (5.7%). There were significant internet game addiction differences by gender, grade, expense of internet cafe, religion, school record, place where child played, economic status, and duration and frequency of game play. The addiction was negatively correlated to parents' attachment, supervision, attitude to child nurturing, and expectations regarding school study. The most significant variables were both parents' attitude to child nurturing, and mother's supervision. These three variables explained 20.7% of internet game addiction in elementary school students. Conclusion: These findings are expected to make a contribution to the creation of ideal interventions at school, home, and counselling centers to prevent internet game addiction.

  • This study analyzes the influences on the reading flow, reading satisfaction, and continuous willingness to read books for parents, teachers, and friends as a reading role model to influence high school students and the differences in the personal characteristics; gender, disciplines, and grade. The result shows that the most important contributor for high school students' reading is friends and male students are more influenced by their friends than female students. In addition, students in vocational high school are more influenced by their friends than students in academic high school. Parents factor relatively affects the reading for male students, 3rd grade students in high school, and students in academic high school. On the other hand, teachers barely affect the reading factors for students.
