  • The direct-drive servo valve(DDV) is a kind of one-stage valve because the main spool valve is directly driven by the dc motor. Since the DDV structure is simple, it is less expensive, more reliable, and offers a reduced internal leakage and a reduced sensitivity to fluid contamination. The control system of the DDV is highly nonlinear due to a current limiter, a voltage limiter, and the flow-force effect on the spool motion. The shape of the step response of the DDV-control system varies considerably according to the magnitudes of the step input and the load pressure. The system-design requirements mean that the overshoots should be less than 20%, and the errors at 0.02s should be less than 2%, regardless of the reference-step input sizes of 1V and 5V and the load-pressure magnitudes of 0MPa and 20.7MPa. To satisfy the system-design requirements, the PID-controller parameters of $K_c$, $T_i$ and $T_d$, and the derivative-feedback gain of $K_{der}$ are designed using the root locus and manual tuning.

  • Anopheles fluviatilis James (Oiptera: Culicidae) is one of the known malaria vectors in south and southeastern Iran. Earlier ITS2 sequences analysis of specimens from Iran demonstrated only a single genotype that was identical to species Y in India, which is also the same as species T. We identified 2 haplotypes in the An. fluviatilis populations of Iran based on differences in nucleotide sequences of D3 domain of the 28S locus of ribosomal DNA (rDNA). Comparison of sequence data from 44 Iranian specimens with those publicly available in the Genbank database showed that all of the 288-D3 sequences from Kazeroun and Khesht regions in Fars Province were identical to the database entry representing species U in India. In other regions, all the individuals showed heterozygosity at the single nucleotide position, which identifies species U and T. It is argued that the 2 species may co-occur in some regions and hybridize; however, the heterozygosity in the 288-D3 locus was not reflected in ITS2 sequences and this locus for all individuals was identical to species T. This study shows that in a newly diverged species, like members of An. fluviatilis complex, a single molecular marker may not be sufficiently discriminatory to identify all the taxa over a vast geographical area. In addition, other molecular markers may provide more reliable information for species discrimination.

  • This study aimed to identify the assemblages (or subassemblages) of Giardia duodenalis by using normal or nested PCR based on 4 genetic loci: glutamate dehydrogenase (gdh), triose phosphate isomerase (tpi), ${\beta}$-giardin (bg), and small subunit ribosomal DNA (18S rRNA) genes. For this work, a total of 216 dogs' fecal samples were collected in Guangdong, China. The phylogenetic trees were constructed with MEGA5.2 by using the neighbor-joining method. Results showed that 9.7% (21/216) samples were found to be positive; moreover, 10 samples were single infection (7 isolates assemblage A, 2 isolates assemblage C, and 1 isolate assemblage D) and 11 samples were mixed infections where assemblage A was predominant, which was potentially zoonotic. These findings showed that most of the dogs in Guangdong were infected or mixed-infected with assemblage A, and multi-locus sequence typing could be the best selection for the genotype analysis of dog-derived Giardia isolates.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between health locus of control, exercise self-efficacy and exercise benefits / barriers of female college students. Methods: Convenient sampling was used to recruit participants from a University based in Pusan. Data were collected from October 15 to December 20, 2007, and participants were 322 students. The questionnaires administered consisted of Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (HLOC) Scales, Exercise Self-efficacy Scale, and Exercise Benefits / Barriers Scale. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean scores for the HLOC among female students was HLOC-I: 22.24, HLOC-P: 16.82, HLOC-C: 15.16. The mean scores were exercise self-efficacy: 37.45, exercise benefit: 2.96, and exercise barriers: 2.89. The 'double external' response pattern of HLOC was the largest group in female students with significant difference in exercise benefit between response patterns of HLOC. There were significant correlations between HLOC-I, exercise self-efficacy, and exercise benefit/barriers. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that tailored health management program by pattern of HLOC should be developed to promote the exercise behavior and enhance the exercise self-efficacy and benefit for female students.

  • The fiber projection from the prefrontal cortex to the locus coeruleus (LC) in the periventricular region was analyzed in rat using anterograde and retrograde tracing methods. Following injection of an anterograde tracer, Phaseolus vulgaris leucoagglutinin (PHA-L), into prelimbic and infralimbic regions of the medial prefrontal cortex, labeled axonal fibers with varicosities were observed bilaterally within the LC, with ipsilateral predominance. Terminal labeling was also observed in the region medial to the nucleus at rostral to middle levels of the LC, whereas axonal labeling in the caudal LC was minimal. Anterogradely-labeled axonal fibers were not found in the subcoerulear region. A retrograde tracer, gold-conjugated and inactivated wheatgerm-agglutinin horseradish-peroxidase (WGA-apo-HRP-gold), was injected into several rostro-caudal levels of the LC. Majority of retrogradely-labeled cells were observed in the prelimbic or infralimbic regions of the medial prefrontal cortex when the injections were made into rostral to middle levels of the LC. Only a few cells were observed in cingulate, dorsal peduncular, orbital, or insular cortices. The present findings suggest that the nucleus LC receives restricted, excitatory inputs from cognitive, emotional, and autonomic centers of the cerebral cortex and might secondarily have influences on widespread brain regions via its diversified monoaminergic innervation.

  • This study presents results of electro-phoretically detectable isozyme variation in Crossing Block (CB) lines of two-rowed barley maintained by the National Crop Experiment Station. The specific objectives were to determine allelic frequencies at the four Est loci(Est1, Est2, Est4, and Est5) and their distribution over 380CB lines of two-rowed barley. A total of 17 alleles were detected over the four Est loci in these lines. There were 4 alleles (Pr, Al, Ca, and Af at the Est1 locus and their frequencies were 69.7, 1.1, 28.4, and 0.8%, respectively. At the Est2 locus, 5 different alleles (Dr, Fr, Sp, Un and a recessive null allele) were detected and their frequencies were 2.9,84.5,0.5,2.1, and 10%, respectively. four alleles (Nz, Su, At, and null were detected at the Est4 locus and the allelic frequency of Su was about 84%. Four alleles(Mi, Pi, Te, and a null allele(od)) were detected at the Est5 locus and their frequencies were 34.2, 61.0, 2.4, and 2.4%, respectively. Based on the allelic frequencies over the four Est loci, 380 CB lines were classified into 25 genotypes. The most frequent genotypes were G1(Pr-Fr-Su-Mi) and G2(Pr-Fr-Su-Pi), and their frequencies were 28.1 and 39.5%, respectively. The frequencies of other genotypes were less than 10%.

  • With rising concerns on downturn of global economy, college graduates are experiencing a serious unemployment crisis. In this reality, undergraduates preparing for employment face much stress from worries and conflicts. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to examine the influence of university student's belief of destiny on sub factors of employment stress such as environmental, physical, psychological and keen behaviors according to internal and external locus of control. 550 surveys were distributed to four-year university students in Seoul, capital area and rural area for 15 days from October 5 until October 20, 2011. 480 surveys were returned, among which 430 were effective as study subjects. As a result of this study, first, environmental influence on employment stress was high at 49% while physical influence was 7%. Second, as a result of performing correlation analysis on employment stress and locus of control, external locus of control showed positive influence in environmental, physical, psychological and keen behaviors. Internal locus of control showed negative influence in all behaviors, suggesting that more diverse career information must be provided. Since increase in career efficacy and reduction of employment stress in university students are directly linked to unemployment rate of youths, diverse and active methods are deemed necessary.

  • Typical symptoms of rheumatic disease affect overall daily living and cause severe stress. Individuals afflicted with rheumatic disease have many illness-related stresses. Pain was the predominantly perceived stress followed by limitation in mobility, difficulties in carrying out activities of daily living. helplessness, dependency on others, threat to self-esteem, interference in social activity, interference in family relationships. difficulties performing at work, and discomfort of the treatment. Patients with chronic arthritis are subjected to long periods of continuous stress, which may require the management by the health care provider. In these cases, the purpose of the nursing is helping to promote health through supporting patient's coping. Therefore, for the nursing intervention to be effective, it is critical to build a theoretical framework that describes stress-coping for chronic arthritis. Thus, the purpose of this dissertation is to present a theoretical framework which describes the stress-coping processes and to empirically test pathos of this framework for the people with chronic arthritis. The foundation upon which this framework is built in the Erickson, Tomlin, and Swain(1983) theory of Modeling and role-Modeling. The subjects were 275 patients with rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis who visited the outpatient clinic. A hypothetical model of stress-coping was tested by covariance structure analysis with PC-LISREL 8.12 program. As a result, the overall fit was good(Chi-square=94.49, P=0.00, RMR=0.067, GFI=0.95, AGFI=0.91, NNFI=0.93, NFI=0.91) for the hypothetical model. The results of hypothesis testing were as follows : Basic need satisfaction had a statistically significant influence on illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resources. Internal health locus of control had a statistically significant influence on coping resources. However, independent variables(basic need satisfaction, internal health locus of control, illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resource) did not have significantly influence on coping. And then, the hypothetical model was modified by considering both the theoretical implication and statistical significance of the parameter estimates. The revised model had a better fit to the data(Chi-square=83.11(P=0.00), RMR=0.061, GFI=0.96, AGFI=0.92, NNFI=0.95, NFI=0.92). Hypothesis emerged from the revised model was tested. The results of hypothesis testing were as follows : Basic need satisfaction had a statistically significant influence on illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resources. Internal health locus of control had a statistically significant influence on illness-related experience and coping resources. Internal health locus of control, illness-related experience, emotional stress and coping resources had a significantly influence on coping. According to the results of this dissertation, basic need satisfaction and internal health locus of control play a central role in appraisal of illness-related experience and coping resources. And illness related-experience, emotional stress, and coping resources affect on coping activities. In summary, nursing interventions to enhance basic need satisfaction and internal health locus of control will decrease illness related experience and emotional stress and increase coping resources. Increased coping resources will prompt coping activities.
