Objectives : We tried to propose the direction of Korean medicine education through the consideration of 'professionalism as a competency beyond knowledge-skill' that modern medicine should take and therefore the perspectives of the competency-based curriculum in Korean medicine education. Methods : Competency-based curriculum, professionalism education phase and competency at medical school, student demand survey, Korean medicine education Accreditation Standards, and related research articles were used. Results : Proposed development measures to cultivate students' professionalism in Korean medicine education are as follows. self-care and emotional stability programs, communications between patient and doctor and among the colleagues, career exploration programs based on global medical trends and government policy, standardized professional training programs, and the evaluation of teaching experiences and achievements. Conclusions : The main purpose of the reorganization of the competency-based curriculum should be for improving Korean medicine education. The contents of phase performance, process performance, and course performance should be carefully organized so that the core contents and spirit of traditional Korean medicine can be achieved. In modern medicine, education of professionalism has been used to cover the problems that arise from taking achievement goals only from a biomedical perspectives. The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the professionalism of elementary teachers in charge of teaching the science-gifted children, based on their personal variables, such as gender, educational career in normal class and gifted class, training in gifted education, academic degree, etc. For this study, the questionnaire was modified by referring to Choi's survey, and conducted to 98 teachers. The results of this study were as follows: In gender, the average of male teachers was significantly higher than the average of female teachers in their professionalism in gifted education. Regional difference was found in the teacher's professionalism, however, showed different aspects in the sub-domain. The teachers' professionalism in accordance with the career in education was no difference. In gifted education career, professionalism increased as high career in gifted education, especially, more than three years. As better educated, teachers' professionalism in responsibility and philosophical understanding for gifted education was increased significantly. The teachers' professionalism according to the degree of training related to gifted education was no significant difference. Overall, 'responsibility and philosophical understanding' and 'humanities-oriented quality' for gifted education were not greatly affected by teacher's personal variables in this study. Based on conclusions, implications for improving their professionalism in gifted education were discussed.
The purpose of teacher education is to improve the professionalism of teachers above the current level. The type of teacher education to improve the professionalism of experienced teachers is broadly divided into top-down education and bottom-up education. So far, studies on top-down education were commonly conducted in the field of Korean language education. However, there has been an increasing number of studies emphasizing the need for bottom-up education, driven by the voluntary participation of teachers in recent years. The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of reflective teacher education for experienced Korean language teachers. For this purpose, a survey was conducted of 71 Korean language teachers who had more than 5 years of experience. The contents of the survey consisted of opinions regarding existing teacher education, the need for reflective teacher education, and the perception of teaching professionalism. The results showed that experienced Korean language teachers had a positive perception of the existing teacher re-education experience. Also, 91% of the respondents said they intend to participate in the reflective teacher education program. In particular, respondents showed high demands for 'peer coaching', 'peer observation', and 'teaching portfolios' among reflective teacher education programs. Lastly, many respondents selected 'development and utilization of teaching materials', 'encouraging learner's utterances', and 'leading learner's interest and motivation' as sub-elements of teaching professionalism that they wish to improve through teacher re-education.

Purpose: This exploratory study aims to identify various factors influencing the level of nursing professionalism among nursing students. Methods: This study surveyed 246 senior nursing students in U city with a structured self-report questionnaire analyzed with SPSS 22.0. Results: The average scores for clinical practice learning environment, self-leadership, clinical practice belonging, and nursing professionalism were 3.16, 3.77, 3.53, and 3.60, respectively. There were significant differences in nursing professionalism according to the subjects' satisfaction with the nursing major and satisfaction with the amount of nursing. The most significant factors affecting nursing professionalism included clinical practice learning environment (${\beta}=.40$, p<.001), self-leadership (${\beta}=.21$, p=.001), and clinical practice belonging (${\beta}=.16$, p=.011). These variables explained 39% of the total variance in nursing professionalism. Conclusion: Clinical practice learning environment, self-leadership, and clinical practice belonging are factors in the nursing professionalism of senior nursing students. Collaborative efforts by universities and clinics are needed to improve the clinical training environment and to produce good nurses. Particularly since few studies have been conducted in Korea on clinical practice belonging, it is meaningful to explore how clinical practice belonging affects nursing professionalism.

Purpose: This study investigates the level of nursing professionalism and factors that affect nurse perceptions. Method: This study is a descriptive study involving 443 nursing students from two universities. Data were collected in September 2012 via a structured self-report questionnaire and subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: The mean scores for nurse image, core elements of nursing professionalism and nursing professionalism were $3.65{\pm}.46$, $4.17{\pm}.39$ and $3.59{\pm}.45$, respectively. Nursing Professionalism had a significant positive correlation with nurse image (r=.749, p<.001) and core elements of nursing professionalism (r=.365, p<.001). In multiple linear regression, factors that influenced nursing professionalism were: temperament as nurses, professionalism, vision of career, role performance of nurses' image, and fundamental nursing practical experience. These variables explained about 58.8% of the total variance in nursing professionalism. Conclusion: For more positive nursing professionalism among students, more attention should be paid to enhancing the positive image of nurses. Doing so can serve as a fundamental resource for the development of appropriate strategies for nursing professionalism.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the professionalism of elementary school teachers and to draw out factors which elementary teachers should try to improve their professionalism for environmental education. For the study, both Quantitative analysis and qualitative methodologies were applied: First, randomly selected 483 elementary teachers from Seoul and Gyeonggi self responded to 5 evaluation areas by Hungerford et al. (1994) to evaluate their environmental education professionalism through the use of five point Likert scale. Second, 2 elementary teachers' environmental classes were observed for the purpose of analyzing strengths and weaknesses in classroom instruction, and then the results of self-evaluation on environmental education professionalism and teacher professionalism as shown in the classes were compared. It was found that 483 elementary teachers including 2 teachers fer analyzing classroom instruction who performed a self-evaluation gave themselves mid-scores on the Hungerford et al.'s 5 evaluation areas. However, the result of self-evaluation did not correspond with the result of actual class observation and teacher interview. That is, the actual environmental classes conducted by 2 teachers did not seemed to reflect the evaluation areas which were the foundation of the study: the conceptual awareness, the investigation & evaluation, environmental action skills, and educational application. The results of this study can be used as the basis reference to develop teaching-learning program and in-service programs for professional development of teachers for successful application of environmental education in elementary school classes.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between student teachers' perceptions on cooperating teacher's professionalism and motivation to become a teacher. Methods: The participants were 399 student teachers studying child care and education at two-year or four-year colleges in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, South Chungcheong, and Daejeon. They completed questionnaires on student teachers' perceptions on cooperating teacher's professionalism and motivation to become a teacher. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, and partial-correlation analyses. Results: There were three findings from this study. First, there was a significant difference in student teachers' perceptions on cooperating teacher's professionalism depending on the type of child care center and education system, rather than the type of class. Second, there was a significant difference in student teachers' motivation to become a teacher depending on the students' education system. Third, student teachers' perceptions on their cooperating teacher's professionalism correlated with their motivation to become a teacher. Conclusion/Implications: This study suggests that student teachers' perceptions on cooperating teacher's professionalism is significantly different depending on the type of child care center or educational system and is related with motivation to become a teacher.

The purpose of this study was to obtain consensus from the expert community on the aims of Elementary Science Classes for the Gifted(ESCG) and teaching professionalism of Elementary Science Teachers for the Gifted(ESTG). For the delphi study, nineteen experts were consulted with open-ended and closed questions. Delphi research was conducted a total of 3 times. The Delphi survey was done by e-mail. The experts can express their opinions freely during the research. The results of this study were as follows : First, there were six aims for ESCG. The six aims of ESCG are scientific inquiry ability growth, creative problem solving ability growth, primary science gifted's giftedness development, the future science-talented-children training, the growth of attitudes toward science, scientific attitudes growth. Second, there were four teaching professionalism about teaching professionalism of ESTG. Four teaching professionalism are understanding the characteristics of primary science gifted, the ability to understand and apply the learning methods suitable for primary science gifted education, professional knowledge and ability to understand the science curriculum, the ability to develop and apply primary science education programs.

As a case study on beginning teachers' teaching professionalism in science-gifted education, we analyzed their teaching professionalism based on pedagogical content knowledge. To do this, we selected 3 elementary and 3 secondary beginning teachers from science-gifted education institutes in the metropolitan area. After their science instructions for science-gifted students were observed, in-depth interviews were conducted. Analyses were conducted with taped videos, researcher's field notes, and transcripts for in-depth interviews. This study revealed that most of the teachers had relatively desirable belief about science-gifted education. However, they tended to have a little deficient practical knowledge about science-gifted students, the curriculum for science-gifted education, science contents, the instructional strategies for science-gifted education, and the assessment in science-gifted education. These results imply that many teachers are likely to have a little deficiency in teaching professionalism for science-gifted students in various aspects, and need to find the ways of improving their teaching professionalism.
Objective: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of early childhood teachers' professionalism in teaching and job satisfaction on their teaching efficacy. The relationship between professionalism in teaching, job satisfaction, and teaching efficacy of early childhood teachers was also investigated. Methods: The subjects of the study were 761 early childhood teachers. The survey included the teaching efficacy measurement, the professionalism measurement, and job satisfaction measurement. The collected data were analysed using descriptive data analyses, Pearson correlation analyses, and multiple regression analyses utilizing SPSS 22.0 program. Results: There were statistically significant positive correlations between early childhood teachers' professionalism in teaching, job satisfaction, and teaching efficacy. In addition, statistically significant effects of early childhood teachers' professionalism in teaching and job satisfaction on their teaching efficacy were found. Conclusion/Implications: The results implicate the importance of supports for early childhood teachers' development in professionalism in teaching and job satisfaction that would enhance their teaching efficacy, resulting in high quality education for young children.
